1PP - A Few Days Later
Abigail stomped into the Commissioner's office where Garrett and Sid were already speaking with him.
Frank had been testy and short with her all day.
His comments to her seemed almost cold and she was determined to figure out what was going on with him.
She was incredibly thankful that her arm was officially out of it's sling now. Although it did still hurt her to raise it close to her shoulder level. She was currently undergoing physical therapy now.
It was approaching end of workday and as Sid and Garrett were filling the Commissioner in on what had transpired that day.
"Commissioner," she began as she entered the office.
He barely raised his head from signing paperwork on his desk. "I don't need you right this minute, Baker."
Abigail was stunned for a moment.
It was unusual for her to not be included in every meeting. And now he was dismissing her?!
Garrett exchanged glances with Sid who both looked taken aback as well.
Her temper suddenly flared and she loudly said with authority, "Sid. Garret. Give us the room."
"Ohh sure thing Abby. Sorry Boss…" Sid threw a sympathetic glance at the Commissioner as he instantly picked up the growing tension between the two of them.
Garrett slowly rose up from his chair, "Um, we will continue in the AM?"
The Commissioner sighed as he realized he was going to be confronted by Abigail whether he wanted it or not. "Yes Garrett, enjoy your evening."
Sid and Garrett rushed out and as the door clicked shut behind them, Abigail took a moment to assess the Commissioner.
Working to subdue her temper she decided on a different tactic.
She walked around his desk to where he was seated.
He looked up at her in surprise as she had never done that before.
Her expression softened as she suddenly perched herself on the corner of his desk.
Frank couldn't help but notice how attractive her legs looked in that dark brown snug sweater dress she was wearing.
"Hey," was all she said and Frank knew in that moment that Abigail could read him like a book.
She leaned forward, studying his tired-looking face for a moment.
"What's going on with you?"
He diverted his eyes away. "I'm fine."
"Frank." She said his name with such command that he had to look at her. Apparently she held the same power to get him to meet her gaze as he did.
He sighed, running a hand over his face.
She grabbed his hand and held it in her lap.
He looked up at her in surprise. "Don't shut me out."
He nodded and said, "I'm sorry. You're right. There's been something on my mind."
She looked at him with encouragement still holding onto his hand so he continued.
"You know we have age differences. And my kids are all grown. I just…I just don't want to deprive you of that in your life."
Abigail shook her head, "Don't you think I've made my choice on kids? I've been working for you for 9 years. I'm a career woman. I made that decision long ago."
He looked up at her bright blue eyes and felt that she was truly at peace with that decision.
"And if you're looking for an excuse to back out Mister, that's not gonna work." She grinned at him and he couldn't help himself and smiled back at her.
"Is that why you were being Mr. Grumpy to me all day?" she teased him.
"I don't think I was being 'grumpy'," he protested.
"Oh yes you were. Sucking the fun out of my normally interesting days here."
"What? I didn't suck the fun out of anything…"
She nodded, "Uh yeah you did. Fun SUCKER."
The way she said it with such seriousness made Frank laugh and he was suddenly was rising out of his chair and leaning over her now.
Still perched on the edge of his desk she felt her temperature rise as he got close.
"Well if that's the case…I better make it up to you," he said sexily.
Abigail swallowed and her pulse quickened. "Yeah, you better," she dared him.
He grabbed her hand and helped her off of his desk. "Follow me," he ordered as he led them to the Inner Sanctum on the other side of his office.
He led her to a corner feeling that it was easier with her still tender shoulder to position himself in the corner and have her lean against him.
Brushing her hair back with a tender hand he put his hand around the back of her neck and brought her mouth to his.
She responded eagerly enjoying the fact that Frank was the one up against the wall this time.
His tongue found hers and she thought That's it. I'm gonna faint. How does this man Do this to me?
His hands were roaming over the curves of her sweater dress and Abigail thought, if someone lit a match in here this room would probably explode.
In between kisses, he spoke to her. "I love you so much. You know that."
She arched her neck back and practically melted in his arms as he kissed her neck hungrily.
"Yes," she whispered back. "I love you too, Frank."
Then suddenly she pushed him back against the wall. , "And don't you dare act like a 5 year old kid again when you've got something on your mind."
He looked at her mouth agape. "Yes…ma'am."
"Now come here," she grabbed his lapel collar and brought him forcefully back to her lips.
"Mm. I like when you get aggressive," he said huskily.
"You ain't seen nothing yet," she promised him.
A/N: hope you enjoyed this little update. I thought it would be good that the age difference/kids topic be brought up given that I think Frank is something like 25 years or more older than Abigail.
patrickpopp sorry I know you were hoping I'd write them having kids but I have none of my own and it's not really my thing to write about lol.
More wedding fun stuff coming up.
And I greatly enjoyed writing Anthony and Erin so there might be a future scene with those two haha.
