The Supreme Vampire King

Chapter 11: Unlikely Partners

While the fighting above the surface continued, Amelia stealthily crept along the oceans floor, as she swam with a spell circle of protection around her that allowed her to breathe underwater. She approached the entrance of the cave and noticed a few stragglers that had gone back to the den in order to protect their loot. The good news was that their forces in numbers had greatly dwindled to a manageable amount for her to handle, but the bad thing was that she really didn't want to have to fight. But oh well, it seems that it couldn't be helped.

She sighed before she withdrew her wand that was wrapped securely on the scarf around her waist. "Those buffoons up there couldn't even kill all of you, and now I have to deal with you myself. I'm sorry little fishies but I don't know any spells that will peacefully put you out of your misery." She said with a mischievous smirk. The sea monsters noticed her after catching a whiff of her sent, and in unison they shrieked before they got into attack formation. "But it appears you're eager to die. So I will try not to feel too bad about what's going to happen to you next. Ah, who am I kidding? I'm going to enjoy watching you all writhe with pain!" She said before she raised her wand in front of her.

The creatures swam towards her with lightning fast speed. They started swarming around her like hungry and ravenous sharks, but she was not afraid. Amelia concentrated a large amount of her Yokai energy for her first attack, and she started chanting a grim sounding, Latin incantation. "Sentire dolor et non amplius. Fester in magnitudine et animus quo! Corpus et mens ruina! Totalis damnatio!" Her eyes turned pitch black as streaks of black blood started pouring from her eyes. A wave of dark magic erupted from her body in supersonic waves, and slowly, one by one the creatures started screaming and crying blood as well. They gripped their heads as the veins under their scaly flesh started pulsating, almost as if the blood in their body was stirring like the very ocean they resided in.

"SCREEEE!" Shouted one of the beasts as it started attacking his comrade and tearing it to shreds. Soon enough, they all started turning against each other and the water started turning a scary crimson shade of red as blood flooded the ocean. Amelia watched the carnage unfold and felt an evil chuckle erupt from the back of her throat. Her eyes slowly started reverting back to their original color, but as she laughed, she coughed up blood and clutched at her chest when a painful energy surged throughout her body. That was a drawback of casting black magic, there was always a price when it came to the forbidden arts. If she used it too much, she could kill herself. But she didn't mind it at all, because to her, the pain only made her feel more alive.

"Well that was fun. Ah, if only I could do that more often, but if I were to just kill whoever I felt like I would not hear the end of it from my lord… Now then, on to business." She said as she spit out the remaining blood inside her mouth, and continued swimming into the depths of their den. She kept swimming until it was almost impossible to see in front of her and she had to make a light from the end of her wand. But eventually, she found the horde of treasure and used a locator to find the mirror. It was inside a silver and gold ornate jewelry box, looking like it was untouched by time. She giggled with joy as she held the fruits of her labor. "And with this, we might finally be reunited again!" She said as she released a fit of hysterical laughter.

Back on the surface, Jaden stared the kraken down and glared at it with his piercing red gaze. "Come at me, you giant piece of sashimi! Let's finally settle this!" He boasted confidently. The kraken shot a jet of pressurized water from its mouth, but Jaden jumped out of the way before it hit him, and the kraken then followed up with a swing from one of its giant tenacles. Jaden smirked before he stuck his palm out and stopped the impact with just one hand. He held on tightly and wrapped his arms around it, securing it in place and stopping it from moving.

"Yubel! Hold it down!" He said with Yubel flying above him. The demon looking duel spirit complied and landed next to him, taking over his position when Jaden passed off the tentacle to his guardian. Yubel gripped on just as tight and pulled, causing the tentacle to stretch out. They had now made a bridge for Jaden to run across as he started running up the kraken's appendage towards its main body. It fired more bullets of water, but he elegantly dodged them when he jumped over and performed a front flip in the air and continued running up its arm after he landed back on his feet. He was now in the creatures face and he reared his arm and mustered all of his demonic energy into his balled up fist.

"I got you now!" He said before he delivered a devastating punch, and at first he had a cocky look on his face after he thought he knocked it over, but his expression turned into that of shock when it reared its head forward and recovered almost instantly. There was no way it survived that! The vampire thought he had put all his strength into that one attack, it should have been an instant knock out! So why was it still moving like it didn't even hurt?! While he was lost in thought, he couldn't hear Yubel's warning when it counterattacked with a shot of water at point blank range, causing his body to ache and feel like he was struck by a speeding bus.

He coughed up blood and his eyes grew wide. His entire ribcage ached as he was shot back and flew in the air. "JADEN!" Yubel shouted as they had no choice but to release the kraken's arm. They flew up and managed to grab Jaden before he hit the water, and he groaned in agony within their arms. He coughed into his hand and looked at his palm and saw how it shook with pain, electricity shooting out from his skin. He gritted his teeth as he wiped away his blood from his mouth. "Damn it! The water must be affecting me more than I thought. Under normal circumstances, I shouldn't be struggling to take that monster down! But my energy is being sapped away because of the water! I can't muster up enough power in my attacks to even hurt it!" He shouted with frustration.

The Kraken screamed out as it went to grab them out of the sky, which made Yubel have to take evasive maneuvers. But with Jaden weighing them down, the duel spirit had a tough time keeping up with the krakens movements. For such a big monster, it sure could move fast! Yubel gasped when they felt its slimy appendage wrap around their leg and start slinking up their body. "Ugh! That feels disgusting!" They said with a shiver as they tried flapping their wings harder to escape. But a howl pierced through the air, and a gray flash zoomed past and easily cut the tentacle down to size and Yubel was free once more. "What on Earth was that?!" They said in shock as they looked around.

Chazz had recovered and came back to the fight. His blackish gray fur coating his body was dripping wet and glistened with little droplets as he landed on top of the boat and shook like a dog to try and dry himself off. It had taken him a minute to wake up after being knocked out, because when he was sent flying, his body had made it back all the way to shore where he crashed into the rock bed. But after he woke up, he swam as fast as he could back to their location. But he was surprised to see the almighty vampire Jaden Yuki, having as much of a hard time as he was when he was fighting all alone.

"Is that all the fight you have left in you, Slifer Slacker?! I guess your win last time really was just a fluke!" He said with a hardy laugh. Jaden glared at him as Yubel landed them back on the boat while the kraken tended to his wound. "Don't make fun of my Chazz. I might be weak right now, but I'm still strong enough to wipe that smile off of your face." He said as the two glared at each other. Yubel felt a vein pop out on their forehead and scooted to stand between the two fuming teenagers. "Do you really think now is the time to be fighting each other?! Put your heads together and find a way to end this fight!" She said as she saw Jaden about to be struck from behind, but they took the brunt of the attack for them and she screamed out in pain.

Their body started splintering like glass as she looked back at her master with warm eyes. "I believe in you Jaden. Don't always try to rely on just your power, ask for help from your friends too. I'm sure you and Chazz can beat that thing, if you work… together-" They said before they shattered and dematerialized from the world back to the duel spirit realm. Jaden's glare only intensified as he watched his caretaker disappear. "Fuck… They're right. The only way we are going to win is if we help each other. So just this once, Chazz… I need your strength." He said with a serious expression as he looked at the werewolf.

Chazz started laughing to himself which only infuriated the vampire more, but he eventually stopped and looked back at him with a sarcastic smirk. "Yeah I'll help you. Only because my precious Alexis is still on this boat and her safety comes first before anything else!" He said as he pounded his chest proudly, and Jaden couldn't help but roll his eyes. It was his fault that his friends were in trouble to begin with, after all, it was his boat that they took out to this dangerous location! "If you haven't noticed by now, that kraken is pretty resistant to blunt force attacks. So your punches aren't going to do much damage if you can't access your true power. But my claws seem to be effective. It might bounce back like it's made of rubber, but it can still be cut." He said as he flexed his fingers.

"I see, that makes sense. And with all of those tentacles, it makes it hard for us to even get close to it and build up enough momentum to do any real damage." Jaden said as he placed a finger on his chin. "So here's the plan I propose. While I keep it distracted, you start cutting off its arms one by one. Once it can't protect itself anymore, I go in for the killing blow. Sound good mutt?" He said with a cocky smirk, but Chazz just smiled at him nonchalantly. "Yeah, I got it. You damn parasite." They both nodded in agreement while flicking each other off, but turned their attention back to the kraken who was ready to start attacking again.

They set their plan into motion when the Kraken started swatting at them with its arms again. They jumped away in opposite directions, dodging the attack but it hit the boat which caused it to tip forward dangerously. All the passengers on board screamed as they clung to the hull to stop themselves from falling overboard. Jaden was standing at the top of the boat and grabbed ahold of the creatures tentacle, giving Chazz the opportunity to cut its arm off. That was four down, which means they still had four more to go. "Are you guys okay down there?!" Shouted Jaden to his friends when the boat slammed back down and caused a giant splash, with water spraying everywhere.

Syrus shook as he hugged onto Bastion tightly, who looked uncomfortable with how close they were being. "Y-yup! We're all good here! But for the love of God… PLEASE BE MORE CAREFUL! YOU'RE GOING TO SCARE US TO DEATH!" He shouted as he started shivering more, and Jaden let out a nervous laugh. "Yeah yeah. Sorry about that. Just sit tight, we'll be done soon." He said before he stood back up and cracked his fingers. "Let's try to finish this off quickly, yeah?" Chazz nodded before he stretched and released another howl, which made Jaden cover his ears and scowl at him. "Of course. The sooner we kill that thing, the sooner our partnership ends!" Jaden smirked as he laughed lightly. "I couldn't have said that better myself. Now, let's grill that squid!"

With their partnership established, the fight proceeded much smoother than it did earlier. They repeated the process of countering the beasts tentacles with Chazz cutting them off until eventually, it was nothing more than a torso. The kraken screamed in anger as it started firing more water bullets, but Chazz easily sliced through those as well. He then stood at the front of the boat with his arms ready to give Jaden a boost. "Now slacker!" He said, and Jaden started running at him and stepped onto his hands. Chazz released a mighty roar before he threw him into the air, with Jaden flying much higher than the height of the giant sea monster. While he was floating in the sky, Jaden corrected his position so that he was straight up again and straightened his leg out as he started descending down, like a shooting star falling from the heavens.

"AAAAAAHHH!" He shouted as he focused his demonic energy into his leg. He started falling faster and harder as he came closer to the kraken, which looked up to see a purple fireball about to crash into it. Before it could even react, Jaden's leg made contact with its face, which instantly collapsed in on itself, and its head exploded in a large spray of ink and blood. Jaden jumped off of its dead before it started sinking to the bottom of the ocean and he grimaced and flicked the blood that oozed on his body his clothes and skin. "Ugh, I'm literally coated in its guts. It smells so fishy and rancid!" He said as he gagged. Chazz had to cover his snout as the smell filled his nostrils. "I always knew you were a piece of trash, but now you smell like it too!"

With the fight over, Chazz reverted back into semi wolf form and collapsed onto the deck as he breathed heavily. He felt like he had been fighting for hours, so he couldn't understand how Jaden could still stand on his feet after everything they had been through. The vampire walked over to the boats controls and switched back on the motor and started driving the boat back to the shore. Once it touched land, Syrus eagerly hopped out and hugged the ground. "Land! Oh sweet, beautiful land! I'm not going back in the ocean for as long as I live!" He said as he rolled around happily, with Alexis chuckling happily as she stared at her small friend.

Jaden was the last to hop off the boat, and while he tried to carry himself confidently, he couldn't ignore his injuries anymore as he started swaying back and forth and started to fall slowly. Alexis noticed and ran to his side and caught him before he hit the ground. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder and let him rest his head in her lap so that he could catch his breath. "You idiot… I told you to be careful. Now look at you, you're a mess." She said as she giggled, with tears in her eyes. She was so relieved that they made it out of their safely, but she did feel bad that Jaden went through all of that because of them.

It's like whatever happens, Jaden always comes to their side and protects them. And she always assumed that he was invincible from how arrogant he was all the time, but even this version of Jaden could feel pain too. Jaden smiled at her with a grin that was reminiscent of the outer Jaden that she loved so much, and she couldn't help but blush when she saw it. "I might be a mess, but at least you guys are still alive." He said as he raised his arm and stroked it threw her beach waved locks. She gulped as her face started instinctively moving closer to his, and her heart started beating faster in her chest. She remembered their lips clashing when she dove in to save him and felt her face get even hotter.

Were they about to kiss again? She thought to herself, but before she made contact, Jaden cupped her face in the palm of his hand and whispered something in her ear. "If you don't mind… How about giving me a reward? I think your blood would suffice, and it would be a reward for you too after saving my life first. I know how turned on it makes you feel, or am I wrong?" He said with a playful smirk as he started to tease her. He ruined the moment before it even started and she gritted her teeth before punching him in the chest, which made him start coughing and groaning. "You really are the worst! You just can't stop with your inappropriate comments! Ugh… I can't believe I almost fell for that charm AGAIN!" She said as she pushed him out of her lap and crossed her arms.

Jaden clutched his ribs as he sat up and pouted, but his cocky expression didn't vanish forever as it quickly returned. "Ah come on, I was just playing around. You really going to be mean to me after everything I put myself through to make sure you guys didn't die? I think a little gratitude is in order here!" He said, and she rolled her eyes in response before she snapped his seal back on and his hair started turning brown again. "Yes. We are very thankful. Now rest up, you did good." She said as she smiled at him and caught Jaden who had fainted after reverting back into his human form. She hugged him tightly to her body and shoved his face into her shoulder. She would never admit it, but she was grateful for both versions of him. She preferred this Jaden a lot more, but the other one was slowly starting to grow on her too. As long as he was alive, she would be there for either side of him, no matter what.

After about an hour, Jaden finally came to and he used his arm to cover his eyes over his face when the sun shone brightly in his eyes. "Huh? Is it over? Did we win?" He said as he sat up while clutching his head. His brain was in a complete fog, and he really couldn't remember anything after he saved Syrus from drowning. "Jaden! You're awake!" Syrus said as he ran over to his best friend and pulled him into an affectionate hug. He grimaced and tried his best to hide his discomfort, but still hugged the smaller boy back and sighed with relief. "Yeah, I'm sorry you guys had to go through that. But it looks like everything worked out in the end so that's good."

Alexis was still blushing as she looked at Jaden. Would he remember what happened between them while they were underneath the water together? She noticed a pattern whenever he transformed. He would always lose his memory, which would make sense because whenever the vampiric version of himself was in control, he really was a different person. Her fingers brushed her lips and then she gulped. "Hey, Jay? Do you perhaps remember what we did earlier?" She asked hopefully, but he looked at her confused. "What do you mean? Did something happen between us?" He said as he tilted her head, but then he noticed the two small puncture wounds on her neck and he gasped. "Are you talking about me biting you? Oh my gosh, Alexis, I am so sorry! I hope it didn't hurt too bad!" He said as he turned to face her.

She sighed in defeat as she stared at the ground with a frown etched deeply onto her face. So he remembered drinking her blood, but not them kissing? Well to be fair, she didn't even know if she could call that a real kiss. Their lips might have touched, but it was so that she could share her oxygen with him. Maybe she was the only one who saw it in that way, but she could have sworn that for a split second, that he had kissed her back. But it was probably all just a part of her imagination due to her hopeful thinking. "Y-yeah. You did bite me. But it's okay, it didn't hurt all that bad. I understand why you did it. You were probably desperate after having been submerged in the ocean for so long. So I don't mind sharing my blood with you, you know that."

He smiled at her but shivered when he felt a monstrous aura coming from behind him. Chazz was standing behind him with his fur fluffed and a glare aimed at the back of the head. "You did WHAT to my precious Alexis, you Slifer Slacker?!" He said with a snarl. "How dare you sink those perverted fangs of yours into her neck, you freaking parasite! I should kill you right now!" He yelled before he slapped him on the back of the head and started shaking him around. Jaden could do nothing but take the punishment, and he started to feel dizzy the more Chazz violently shook him around like a rag doll. "Hey! I can explain! Come on Chazz, we just had a victory! Let's celebrate before you go and start hitting me!" He shouted, with Syrus and Alexis trying to desperately pull them apart.

Amelia was watching cliff side again as she watched with an entertained gaze. She had the ornate jewelry box tucked underneath her arm which she eagerly clung on to, scared to drop her prize. She whipped her cellphone out from her satchel bag which she had propped against a tree before she started dialing up a phone number. The person on the other end picked up, and she spoke with a satisfied look on her face. "Yes sir. Preparations are almost complete." She said as she opened the box and looked at the mirror with delight.

"Concerning the mission you assigned to me, I should have no problem with that. I'll keep you updated regarding my next move. Once the headmaster erects the barrier, I will help Night Shroud with infiltration. When they have their guard down, we can attack in the cover of night." She said before she hung up the phone. She started laughing to herself once again. She was having so much fun, and not to mention she had her ultimate goal in sight with the help of the mirror. If everything goes according to plan, she will see her precious king once more. "It doesn't matter whose boots I have to lick if it means I get to see you, my king… And then all of these fools will remember who their true ruler is, once and for all!" She said as she giggled to herself menacingly.
