Chapter 6: There It Is

After School

Arnold was walking down the street with Gerald when he listened to his friend say "So, you went to see Pataki yesterday?"

"Yeah. Today's supposed to be her last day there. Olga seems to be driving her pretty crazy though." Arnold sighed, as he stared at the ground.

"Mm…mm…mmm! I don't know what I'd do if I was stuck in a hospital room with one of my siblings like that?" Gerald shook his head, picturing the worst that could happen.

Timberly would be running her mouth as much as Olga, while Jamie - O would be trying to think of a way to make his situation worse than it was to begin with.

Hospital

While Olga sat in the corner chair of the room, staring sadly at the floor, Helga listened to what the doctor was saying "Okay, you've gotten all the IV antibiotics you need here. When you return home, you won't be allowed to shower for two weeks…"

Helga's eyes widened at the news, as she screamed "For crying out loud! I'm going to smell worse than half the kids in my class!"

"Well, you can always wash your hair in the sink. If you decide to wash any other areas of your body, just be sure to stay away from your stomach."

Olga sniffled while listening to the news. Helga had made it clear she wasn't wanted, but couldn't help offering "I'm here to help you baby sister!"

The annoyed girl rolled her eyes as she muttered to herself

Of course you are Ms. Golden Child

Olga had already gone through her personal items. Why would helping her shower be anymore humiliating?

"Once two weeks have gone by, you can return to have your stitches removed."

"This was supposed to be a SIMPLE procedure." Helga gritted her teeth, looking over at Olga.

Tears continued to flow from Olga's eyes, knowing how upset Helga was about being there.

Not caring to get in the middle of their dispute, the doctor continued with what Helga would need to expect "If you keep a balanced diet, you can return in a year to have the tube permanently removed."

This is a dull freakin' nightmare!

The Corner Store

"So, you didn't see anything special enough for Pataki at the hospital?" Gerald asked his friend, while they wandered the aisles of the store.

"No, but after finding out about Olga invading Helga's privacy, I think I know what to get her."

Gerald looked at the 'gift' in his friend's hand. As he lifted an eyebrow, he asked "That? That is your gift to her?"

Happy with his creative idea, Arnold replied "Helga's a private person. She won't have to worry about something like that happening again with this."

"Whatever you say Arnold."

Hospital

It was almost time to leave, when Helga realized she was still missing something.

Olga looked up to see her sister anxiously looking around. "What is it, baby sister?"

Helga figured Olga had already read her books, why did telling her about this matter?

"I can't find my locket!"

Helga stood up, not caring about the dizziness she was still feeling. The dizzy girl then spotted it on the table beside the computer.

Rather than taking her time walking over there, she raced for her treasure as though no one had seen it already.

The dizziness made her trip and hit her head on the table she had been laying on.

Olga immediately stood up to shake Helga and cried out "Baby sister! Wake up! Baby sister!"

Helga's House

Ring…Ring…Ring

"Hello?" Bob asked, having recently made it home from work.

"Hello daddy." Olga sniffled.

"Oh hey Olga. You and the girl on your way out of there?" The uptight man was anxious to know.

"Oh daddy! Something terrible happened!" Olga whimpered, as she began explaining to Bob Helga had hit her head.

"Oh for crying out loud! Again?! She didn't lose her memory this time did she?"

"I don't know. We're still waiting for her to wake up." Olga explained, feeling like a failure for not offering to find the item for her sister.

"Ay-yi-yi!"

Bob then put down the phone, rubbing his eyes in frustration. Before he could tell Miriam the news, there was a knock at the door.

The angry man then opened it to see Arnold standing there with an anxious look on his face.

"What do you want, kid?"

"Hi Mr. Pataki! Has Helga made it home yet?"

"No! In fact the girl just slammed her freakin' head. How the heck do you hit your head on something you're supposed to be laying down on for crying out loud?!" Bob scowled as he slammed the door in Arnold's face.

Arnold stood there concerned, hoping Helga hadn't lost her memory.

The Boarding House

Arnold made it home past the cluster of animals to find Phil sitting in his rocker.

"Hey grandpa…"

Phil looked up at his sad grandson and asked "Hey, what's the problem? I thought you were taking your girlfriend your carefully thought out gift?"

After watching Phil wink, Arnold took a seat on the sofa and replied "When I went to see if she had made it back home, Mr. Pataki said not only is she still in the hospital, but she hit her head."

"Hmm that's a shame. She lose her memory again?" Phil couldn't help but ask.

The sad boy shrugged his shoulders as he replied "I don't know? Mr. Pataki slammed the door in my face without giving me all the details."

"Maybe it's a good thing she lost it then. Who'd want to remember that guy?"

"Grandpa…"

"Oh I'm just kidding shortman. I'm sure she's fine. I used to hit my head all the time when I was a kid, and I turned out fine. Now your grandma, she never hit her head. Yet, she turned out to be the craziest person I've ever met."
