James and Sirius had just successfully placed a few dung bombs in the boys bathroom and charmed them to go off upon leaving. Satisfied with crossing that particular one off the list, they would be heading off to their dorm to prepare for the next one, only for James to smile upon seeing his older cousin, Jack.
"There you are mate!"
Sirius, a bit confused, looked up from the parchment to see a Slytherin, a bit taller than them with stark black hair and green eyes walking towards them with a broomstick in hand as he was covered in sweat and dirt.
"What are you doing?"
Jack narrowed his eyes towards the younger boy, suspicious of what he was involved in.
James gasped, hand to his chest in a dramatic manner. "What makes you think that I am doing anything? Mayhaps I'm taking a nice stroll around the castle with my dear friend Sirius!"
Sirius smiled but hadn't said anything, nervous of what the Slytherin would say to him. Just as others had voiced their disappointment and disdain for him to his face or when he walked by in the corridors.
The slytherin named Jack rolled his eyes with a snort, "we both know you are full of poppycock now spill it."
James pouted, "we pranked the boys bathroom."
Then the slytherin and done something that Sirius hadn't expected. He grinned, "good job mate."
Watching the exchange between the two boys left Sirius feeling confused as they were smiling and talking with one another. No tense or negative feeling even hinted.
Although Sirius had come to the realization that not all families were wankers to one another, it didn't stop him from being surprised and analyzing other people.
The older boy finally turned towards him, he stared him drone from his sharp nose. "Black ey?"
"Correct," he braced himself for the tongue lashing he was sure to receive
Instead, the boy smiled at him rather before offering his hand out. "The names Jack Donoghue," he introduced
Jack Donoghue.
Gwen had a sibling?
They didn't share any characteristics on a physical level. He had stark black hair and bright green eyes while she had white hair and blue eyes. Their skin tones were even different as Gwen was more porcelain that bordered on pale while he was ivory.
Actually come to think of it. He had seen the bloke walk with her or hangout in the Great Hall on many occasion but he always assumed them to be a friend than a family member.
"Sirius Black," he took his hand. "I hadn't realized that Gwen had a brother."
He shook his head, "it's because we aren't. She is my cousin."
That's when it dawned on him. How had he forgotten about the family line that his mother forced down his throat? Jack Donoghue was the son of the younger Donoghue brother, Liam as his older brother and heir was Declan Donoghue, the father of Gwen.
"Makes sense since you two don't look like family," he spoke before he started internally panicking as he realized that it might come off as an insult rather than a statement
He smirked, running a hand through his hair. "And a pity that she had failed to inherit these good looks but I can say that she did inherit her mothers beauty, whereas I inherited the Donoghue's signature look."
Remembering the photo that his mother had shown him of the man, he would have to agree that the Donoghue men were rather handsome as they all seemed to have black hair and green eyes.
And if Gwen was the splitting image of her mother then he could see why Declan Donoghue turned his mother down back in their Hogwarts days.
"How come you never told me about your cousin?" Sirius turned to James, who just shrugged his shoulders
"I thought our bloodline was common knowledge,"
Sirius snorted, "as if I care about that."
Sirius missed the way that Jack looked at him during the exchange, only turning back to him when he thought of something that had been bothering him.
"If you and Gwen are cousins then how is James here in relation to you?"
Jack's face became rather passive in that moment, his gaze only flickering back to James before landing back on the Black Heir. "I think that you should speak to James about our relations to their family."
Before Sirius could broach the subject any further, a group of giggling girls walked by. Jack's focus was on one of them in particular, a pretty blonde one with brown eyes, waving at him before turning the corner.
"I'll catch up with you two later," he spoke before finally his gaze snapped back to the two boys. "It was nice to meet you Black," before he took off after the girl.
"Do you think he liked me?" Sirius asked, suddenly hyper aware of how his body had been tense during the interaction.
James patted him on the shoulder, "if Jack didn't like you than he would have confronted you about it when he saw you hanging around his cousin."
Sirius nodded mutely.
He continued speaking as they started walking back to their house, "My Father's parents died when he was young of some illness. It was rather a difficult time for him as he was only in his fifth year when it happened. Being best friends with Declan, Gwen's father, he had asked his parents to adopt him as he had no other living relatives. Since they lived my Dad and already saw him as one of their own, they adopted him immediatly."
Sirius contained his surprise that a seemingly pureblood slytherin family had been more than kind and compassionate to adopt a supposed blood traitor into their midst.
"How come your name is Potter and not Donoghue?"
James stuffed the scroll into a pocket of his robe, before he pushed his glasses up his nose. "My Father had asked that he keep his last name since he was the last of the Potter line. They weren't surprised and actually expected him to keep his last name as my Father is proud of his own house."
"So through the law, you are related and not by blood."
"Yes, our families have always been close as we spent most of our time together."
Deciding to reflect on the new information later, he filed it away and focused on the task at hand.
"How do you think we can manage to get that much pumpkin juice?"
"I have already worked a deal with one of the elves in the kitchens as I wanted to put this particular prank in motion."
"You are brilliant mate," Sirius grinned at him.
"Thank you, Thank you." He mock bowed before they came up the the Fat Lady and gave the password.
Gwen, Lily, and Severus were in the Great Hall as they were enjoying breakfast as classes weren't starting for another twenty minutes. They had slipped into an easy routine where they would discuss classes and assignments while they ate breakfast and would then make plans to meet up later to study. Currently they were discussing their potions class with Professor Slughorn regarding the test that would be over how well they made the Cure for Boils.
"See you in Potions class Gwen"
Lily and Severus both stood as they had finished breakfast, smiling as they waved and left the Great Hall.
They walked to class together every morning, which left Gwen to her own devices as she sat at the Ravenclaw table by herself. Grinning, she was about to dig into the plate of still warm half-eaten pancakes sitting in front of her along with eggs and bacon.
"Good Morning Gwen" looking up from her Charms book she came face to face with James Potter and a prideful smirk along with the other three boys
"Hello James," she chirped "boys" raising an eyebrow at them. She closed her book with one hand before setting it down next to her plate. "To what do I owe the pleasure to be graced with your presence so early this beautiful morning?" sarcasm dripped from the question out of an innocent smile as she cocked her head to the side
"Awe sweetheart, don't be like that," Sirius wrapped his arm around her shoulder as he leaned over and stole a piece of her bacon from her plate "Especially after last night's events" he teased with a wink knowing he'd get a reaction out of the girl
"Y-you dog!" sputtering, her face grew warm as she tried turning away from him only for him to block her with his arm "don't say such things like that Mr. Black"
"We both know that I'm your best friend and you love me" Gwen shook her head as she was suddenly very aware of how close his face was to hers
"I have no idea why you'd think such a thing Sirius because last time I checked James is your best mate and my best mate is Lily." she remarked from the table as she grabbed her books and left the table as she heard the boys bust out laughing as they teased Sirius
"I give up!" Logan slammed his head on the desk as he let out a groan which caused Gwen to smile slightly as she shook her head at the Hufflepuff's behavior
"Do you want some help?" She asked as she glanced at his wand that had fallen off his desk with a wince "I can help you if you want"
"It's not the charm," Logan lifted his head off the desk as he ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair with a loud sigh "I can't sleep at night, I keep waking up and it's to the point where I'm falling asleep in my classes" He grumbled as he rubbed his eyes and let out a yawn
"I think you should go see Madam Pomfrey and have her brew you a Sleeping Draught that way you could get some sleep tonight" Gwen advised as she watched him brighten up at her suggestion
"I didn't even think of that!"
"You should ask Professor Flitwick to let you go see Madam Pomfrey"
"Thanks Gwen, you're bloody brilliant!"
"Quite right," the two began snickering as a few students around them eyed them wearily before returning back to their own charms
Leaning against the large tree that was beside the Black Lake, Gwen sat crisscrossed with a book in her lap as she ate an apple. She had taken off her robe as it lay discarded next to her with her sleeves rolled up and her tie loosened. Lily was walking in a large circle with a book in hand and a turkey sandwich in the other. Severus sat in a similar position as Gwen except he was hunched over his book with his hair creating a curtain around him.
It was currently a break between classes so they were using the opportunity to study a bit more for their potions test.
"Can we take a break?" Gwen asked as she finished her apple, smiling Lily had closed her book as she set it next to her bag as she finished off her turkey sandwich "Please?"
"Yes," Gwen smiled as she stood and stretched her limbs as they seemed to pop back into place "Would you like to have this dance with me?" Lily asked a in faux posh tone causing Severus to look up from his book to smile as both girls were holding hands as they danced around with giggles leaving their lips
"You two are quite mad"
Severus smiled as he shook his head at both girls who simply stopped their dancing as they looked at each other before back to the Slytherin boy
"Join us Severus," Gwen asked with a pout on her lips as she offered a hand to the boy who was trying not to give into the blue eyed girl "Please?"
"I'm more content watching instead"
This seemed to satisfy the girl as they went back to jumping around as they held hands with one another
"You owe me a dance next time Sev," she winked at him with a wide smile
He raised his hands up in surrender "Fine,"
"Can I get one too?" Lily looked towards Severus with a hopeful look to which had him choke on his spit
"Really?"
Hands on her hips she stomped her foot as she gave him a pointed look "Of course you ninny otherwise I wouldn't have asked"
Gwen stifled her giggles as she watched Severus struggle to verbally respond to Lily's absurd request. The girls then joined hands and clumsily danced in a circle, twirling and giggling, not even noticing that they were being watched by four boys from a distance.
"Mind if I sit next to you today love?" Looking up Gwen nodded as she was met with a pair of familiar stormy silver eyes
"We are best mates, so I don't see why not?"
Gwen teased as she threw his words from this morning right back at him as she moved her bag so he could sit next to her, he merely rolled his eyes as he let out a chuckle
"You really are a funny girl," He dropped his bag on top of the desk as she rolled her eyes at his comment "I need help with today's potion and I know that you're very talented with potions among your other classes" Sirius complimented her as he gestured to the open seat next to her, a blush rose to her face, not used to compliments from the opposite sex or just people in general
"Not at all Sirius, now I see why you sought me out this morning"
He watched as she went back to getting her things out of her bag which consisted of her beginning potions book, parchment and quill
"You and I both know that isn't true as it was Jamesy boy who wanted to talk to you this morning" Sirius reached out and fiddled with the ends of her hair as he slid into his seat beside her
"I'll let you off the hook just this once Black," Placing her bag on the ground she swatted his hand away from her hair "How have you been?"
Gwen hadn't talked to Sirius much the past two weeks since he was mostly with James, Remus, and Peter getting into some kind of trouble. Occasionally she'd seen them around pranking students and one of their favorite targets was her friend, Severus Snape of course.
"I've been lovely," Sirius smirked as he watched the girl get easily flustered as her face now donned a healthy blush on her face "Thanks for asking, love"
Gwen nodded as she fiddled with her skirt. She nudged him slightly to which he nudged her back before she heard Lily and Severus take their seats behind her and Sirius, who went over to James
"Morning Lily and Severus, you guys are late"
Gwen greeted as she saw the annoyed look on Lily's face and a quiet Severus who simply shook his head which meant later.
Potions had only just started for a mere few minutes and Gwen could feel Sirius's intense stare on her, which had her self-consciously tucking her hair behind her ear as it kept refusing to stay put in its place behind her left ear.
Sirius reached out towards her. She was confused by his actions as he grabbed all of her hair and began quickly braiding her long straight hair. Continuing to take her notes, she found it hard to concentrate as she shot him a confused look before returning to copying some last minute notes before they were to start brewing their potions. He took the black ribbon that was tied around her wrist and tied her hair together to keep the braid in place.
All throughout class, Gwen had explained to Sirius the ingredients as she had made the potion, surprisingly he had paid rapt attention to her as she taught him and instructed him on what to pour in and how much. Professor Slughorn had given both Sirius and Gwen an A for their potion, as they were cleaning up Gwen wanted to bring up how Sirius had braided her hair.
But felt awkward as she didn't know how to approach the subject at hand. She decided to drop it as she knew that she would only result in a stuttering mess.
The four rambunctious boys had already garnered a reputation of causing mayhem among their peers. They had already been given the silly name of the Marauders after Lily had scolded them for their childish behavior.
They were all lounged about in their dorm room. Remus was in bed reading, Peter sat on his bed eating from his stash of Licorice wands, while James and Sirius were sitting on the floor, conspiring a list of pranks to pull in the upcoming weeks.
They had already finished their third week of pranking and were celebrating by deciding to begin exploring the castle that very night to explore its secrets. James had gotten the idea from Gwen, when she had explained to Lily a rumor about a secret Chamber of Secrets being hidden by one of the founding members, Salazar Slytherin, in the castle. What if there were other secret rooms or pathways in Hogwarts?
"Brilliant mate!" Sirius had exclaimed when James told the other of his plan
Remus just seemed apprehensive about the entire ordeal, while Peter numbly went along with it, as long as they stopped by the kitchens for some mashed potatoes. He'd been having a craving for a while.
"If there are secret pathways, we could use them to pull off pranks without being caught by Filch, prefects, or even professors!" Sirius exclaimed
James nodded, "it's brilliant!"
Remus, being the voice of reason, spoke up. "To make such an artifact requires powerful and advanced charms."
James nodded, "he has a point."
"Then we shall have to commit to our studies in order to make this map and use it for future adventures."
James and Sirius grinned at one another while Remus wen t back to his book and Peter just watched.
Gwen was sitting with Toni and Jackie in the Ravenclaw stands as the first Quidditch game was about to begin.
It was the end of their first month since they had first arrived at Hogwarts, and Gwen was excited to get a break from being cramped in the library as she learned potions and charms. It was their house against Hufflepuff, and everybody was really excited to find out who would win the first game of the year.
Screams and shouts were heard as the teams had flown in on their brooms around the field with big smiles and dressed in their house colors. All three girls were leaning against the railing as they waved their flags, faces painted with blue designs as smiles adored their faces.
Pandora had stayed back in their dorm as she said that she had some kind of experiment that was much more important than a game of quidditch. Olivia was off sitting with a boy in their year that she had already started to fancy, his name being Harold.
"He's gorgeous!" Jackie swooned as a boy dressed in the Ravenclaw uniform flew by on his broom "I want him to be mine" her comment made Toni roll her eyes as a smile graced her features
"Who's that?" Gwen questioned as she watched the dark haired boy with green eyes fly around on a broom with a smirk
"That is one of our beaters, a third year who is really smart" Toni answered as she looked away from the team "His name i-"
"Daniel McCoy!" Jackie interrupted Toni as she clapped her hands together with a blush on her heart shaped face as she had a death grip on the railing. "One of the hottest guys in our house!"
She fanned herself as she sighed dreamily as her eyes never left Daniel McCoy, who shot a smile in their direction that had Jackie squealing. Toni gave Gwen a knowing look as the game started, giggling as they focused on the game as Ravenclaw had already scored 10 points.
"We won!"
Jackie and Toni were shouting as everyone in their house was making their way to the Ravenclaw tower to celebrate. Gwen smiled as she watched her two friends smile and carry on as she trailed behind them. They were the last ones to leave the field as Jackie hoped to talk to Daniel, but didn't get the chance as the team was going to wash up before the party was to start in the common room.
"We almost lost hadn't William grabbed the golden snitch in the last second" Toni pointed out as her arm was looped with Jackie's who was mostly swooning over Daniel
"Yes but it was because of Daniel we won" Toni rolled her eyes at the delusional girl as they turned a corner
"Are you quite alright?"
Gwen snapped her head towards Sirius as she found him along with the three boys who had hands full of sweets they must have stolen out of the kitchens to which would explain why they had ditched the game
"Thank you for asking but yes I'm quite alright we had won after all." Gwen quirked "Ravenclaw has the best team this year at Hogwarts" she teased
"Now love, didn't your parents ever tell you that lying was wrong?" Sirius quipped as he cocked an eyebrow at her "I believe what you meant to say was that Gryffindor has the best team at Hogwarts. Just because your team beat out Hufflepuff means nothing as they are the worst."
"Care to wager a bet then?" Gwen smiled as she adjusted her blue and silver scarf "If Gryffindor wins I'll join you on one of your escapades but if Ravenclaw wins then you have to spend an entire day as my servant" Sirius thought the deal over his head before coming to the conclusion it was the perfect deal
"You've got yourself a deal," Sirius and Gwen shook hands with huge smiles on their faces before pulling apart
"I'll see you around then"
With that Gwen turned around and left the four boys to get back to her house as they had already left the corridor.
Sighing dramatically, Gwen let out a soft yawn as she slowly closed the book she was reading, she looked up to see Lily and Severus following her actions. With a smile she glanced at the time to see that dinner was about to start, standing she began collecting her things as she placed them into her bag.
It was Wednesday and she had been studying about the Devil's Snare for her Herbology class, while Lily and Sev were studying Wingardium Leviosa for their charms class.
"I wonder what we're having for dinner," Lily asked Gwen as she nudged her with a smile before Gwen's stomach grumbled quite loudly "You neglected to eat again, didn't you?" Lily asked in an exasperated tone as Gwen shook her head
"N-no"
"You can't neglect your health like that Gwen! That's the second time this month!" Gwen listen to Lily scold her as they walked out of the library together with Severus following them
"I forgot my potions book, you two go on ahead"
Severus spoke as they were almost out of the library doors, with a small wave he reentered the large library. Both girls shrugged as they both walked out only to hear a loud popping noise before they found themselves being drenched in pumpkin juice as shrieks of surprise filled the corridor.
Sputtering, Gwen felt nauseated by the smell of pumpkin juice as she raised her hands to clear her face of the orange liquid. A few people that were heading to the Great hall had turned and were now laughing and pointing at both of the girls as they stood in a huge puddle of the offended liquid.
Sniffling she felt her eyes begin watering as her now pristine white hair was streaked with orange, she glanced to see Lily was also drenched but instead of being embarrassed like her.
She was beyond livid.
"Potter!" She seethed as she angrily wrung her hair out, Gwen could feel her tears cascading down her face "Gwen! Are you alright?" Students continued laughing which made Gwen feel mortified as she let out a shaky breath as she tried to ignore their laughs
Lily felt stupid for asking such a question, mentally smacking herself she took the smaller girls hand as she began leading her towards the bathroom to help her clean up.
"All the pumpkin juice is out of your hair" Lily commented as Gwen resurfaced from the water with a smile as she noticed that her hair was back to being a pristine white color.
Gingerly she stepped out of the bath as Lily held a towel out to her, taking the towel she wrapped it around her body. Lily was already squeaky clean as she had quickly bathed, while Gwen was bathing she had cleaned their robes using a spell she had learned from Madam Pomfrey after an incident in Potions with James Potter during their first week.
"Thanks Lily" Gwen took the offered clothes after drying off a bit
"You're welcome"
Once they were both dressed, they linked arms together as they walked to the dining hall. Lily was glad that Gwen was no longer upset about having pumpkin juice dumped on her. She instead busted out laughing like a mad woman as she was washing her hair for the third time.
They made it to the Great Hall, where both girls separated at their house tables. Gwen took a seat next to Olivia and across from both Toni and Jackie who were too busy trying to gain the attention of a group of Ravenclaw boys a couple seats down.
"Where were you?" Olivia was the first to ask when she started eating
"I was bathing, I had been pranked by a couple of Gryffindor boys" Gwen stated as she started eating her mashed potatoes
"Are you okay?"
"Of course! I was embarrassed at people laughing at first about being pranked but then as I was bathing I found it to be absolutely funny in my opinion" Gwen smiled as Olivia started laughing as well
To be honest, it was because of Olivia's advice to have fun and to not let trivial things get to her is why she was no longer upset. However, she knew that she wouldn't be drinking pumpkin juice again for a very long time. Pushing the offensive drink away she thought about how she was going to mess with the boys back though, she didn't know how yet. But she could probably ask around for a couple of ideas.
"You two shouldn't spend all your time fawning over boys" Olivia stayed as she threw a bread roll at both girls who were snapped out of their flirty smiles and giggles
"What else are we supposed to do then?" Jackie whined as she took the bread roll and took a bite out of it with a pout on her lips
"Maybe study for a class that I know for sure that you're failing" Olivia smiled as she took a bite of her carrots as she shot her a cheeky smile
"How do you know?"
"Your desk is a mess and you leave your papers everywhere in the your room when I stopped by a few times and you've been failing both potions and transfigurations since the first day" Olivia pointed her fork at Jackie who started laughing nervously
"Anyway….. I think I'm going to go back to the common room" Jackie finished her pumpkin juice, flashed a quick smile and left Great Hall and towards the dormitories
"How are your classes Toni?" Olivia asked as Gwen continued thinking about how she'd get the four boys back regarding their little prank
"Jack!" Gwen called out for her older cousin as he had been walking back to his house after dinner.
He had turned around fully upon recognizing her,"How may I be of service?"
"I need your help,"
He snorted, "to think my swot of a cousin is asking me for help with something. Surely the world must be ending if that is happening."
Whacking him upside the head, she narrowed her eyes at him, "I need your help in pulling a prank."
This caught his attention, with a dark smile, he listened as she recounted what had taken place.
"I know of a brilliant way for you to pay them back."
"Hello Severus"
Gwen smiled as she took her seat across from him as they were sitting in the courtyard. It was a bit gloomy out but they both loved it when the weather was dreary and cloudy, as it meant cool winds and not a lot of people outside which was a huge plus for Severus. The perfect weather for a lazy Thursday afternoon.
"Good morning Gwen" Severus had a book in his hand as he was eating a sandwich with the other hand "How are you this morning?"
"Absolutely lovely" Gwen had a mischievous smile on her face as she thought about her plans for later that evening "Is Lily on her way soon?"
"Yes, she had slept in from our late night study session" Severus answered as she nodded and took out her Herbology book as she started taking out her notes along with them "How's your Herbology class?" He asked when he glanced over at the small girl who looked tired
"It's going great actually, I'm actually enjoying the class a lot more than I thought I would and I bel-"
Gwen stopped talking when she saw James, Sirius, Remus and Peter walk outside on the other side of the courtyard smiling and laughing. Memories of the pumpkin juice incident crossed her mind as she narrowed her gaze at the four troublemakers.
"Don't tell me you have a crush on one of them,"
Severus rolled his eyes as he watched Gwen hide behind her textbook with a slight blush on her face.
"No, it's nothing like that." She mumbled, "it's just that they're in for a nasty surprise at dinner tonight."
Was all she said before she went back to her Herbology book with a wicked smile dancing on her lips. Severus tried to contain the shiver that threatened to roll down his spine from the expression of her face. Instead, he opted to not make a comment and focus on his textbook rather than the scheming little witch that was his friend.
After their small study session, she had parted ways with the Gryffindor and the Slytherin as she went to drop off her things at her house. Following the girls to the Great Hall for dinner, she suddenly felt nervous about what she had planned for this evening.
Sitting at the Ravenclaw table along with her roommates, she fiddled with her bowl of soup as the girls were discussing an upcoming test. For once she wasn't partaking in the animated conversation as she was keeping her eyes on the large doors waiting for her victims to walk through them. Turning away she sighed as dinner was already half-way over and they still weren't in sight, she began to partake in the conversation with Pandora and Olivia.
However, she didn't have to wait long as she had heard the doors open, screams of outrage could be heard and suddenly the Great Hall was filled with laughter.
Swiveling in her seat, she watched as the four boys were drenched in thick warm syrup. Peeves flew in, laughing maniacally, as he covered the four boys in bright blue and silver feathers.
Everybody was laughing and pointing as the boys looked shell shocked. Glancing over to Lily, she watched as she was laughing as well from the Gryffindor table, before turning to the Slytherin table to find Severus hunched over laughing.
They walked towards their table, dripping in syrup and feathers with confused looks as they scanned the Great Hall. Gwen quickly stifield her laughter as she ignored their stares and instead offered them a smile with fake concern, the four seemed to buy her reaction as they took their seats and started their search for the culprit.
Everybody had left the Great Hall with only a couple of stragglers in the Hall still eating, Gwen waited until everybody had left to confront the four boys who were all hunched over trying to figure out who had pranked them. She thought it was absolutely amusing the way they looked at everybody and would conspire amongst themselves.
"Hello Boys, you look quite fetching today" Gwen smiled as they all turned around to face her with annoyed looks as she let out a soft laugh "What are you four gentlemen discussing?"
"Well my dear I think I look absolutely brilliant this evening" Sirius chuckled as Gwen rolled her eyes at his high pitched mocking tone
"We are looking for the culprit who pranked us" James spoke with a smile as he stared up at the girl who was finding it difficult to contain her smile
"Oh? Is that so?"
Remus handed her a piece of paper that had several names on it, a few were crossed off and a couple had circles around it with pranks they have done the past week
"We have compiled a list of names of the ones who pranked us and I believe that we have narrowed it down to at least five different people."
As the four begin explaining to her about the many students they had been pranking this week and how they had pranked them. Gwen wasn't really listening as she had covered her mouth as giggles left her lips, all the boys turned to her with strange looks on their faces.
"It seems like she's gone absolute mad" Peter whispered to Remus as they watched the white haired girl's giggles turn into hysterical laughter
"Are you quite alright sweetheart?" Sirius asked as she clutched her sides as she was bent over laughing
"I'm here to inform you four gentlemen that I know who was behind this rather hilarious prank" Gwen had finally stopped laughing enough to spit out the words that she had been desperate to hold in
"You have to tell us!"
All four boys jumped up from the bench as they bombarded the small girl with questions.
"It was me"
The boys merely stared at her with shock as they had gone silent, she let out a giggle but she merely smiled as she waved at the boys and turned to leave. The four boys stared after the girl with mixed expressions and mixed feelings as they watched her walk with a skip in her step.
"Next time you decide to prank Severus, make sure it actually hits the intended target and not an innocent person walking out of the library" Gwen added as she had turned around
"The pumpkin juice prank" Remus muttered as they had forgotten about that one
"How could we have missed that prank?" James muttered as he slapped a hand to his forehead with a loud sigh
"Good night boys" With that she turned around and left again
"Did not think that our dear Gwen would pull off such a prank" Remus noted as they all took their seats once again as they watched her leave the Great hall with graceful steps
"You and me both, Remus" Sirius mumbled as he never let his eyes leave her. A bud of interest blossoming in his chest, one he wouldn't realize for a while however.
James groaned suddenly, his forehead smacking against the wooden table, the three boys turned to him in question.
"What's wrong James?" Peter poked him from across the table
"I'll probably be receiving a letter from Mum for pranking Gwen by accident," he mumbled only for Remus to shake his head
"Doubt it," Sirius furrowed his eyebrows wondering how Remus had come to that conclusion. "Think about it, where did Gwen get the feathers from?"
James' head whipped up from the table, "she had to have written to Uncle Declan and told him about it."
Sirius, still confused as to why her father would allow her to risk getting in trouble just to prank her cousin. James took notice of Sirius' confusion and elaborated on it.
"Uncle Declan was a huge prankster back when he went to Hogwarts, he doesn't think its wrong if she were to dabble in pulling pranks as he just wants her to have fun. So I wouldn't be surprised if he helped her by providing the materials."
Peter was really the only one who was still covered in pink feathers as the three boys had slowly removed them one by one throughout dinner as they discussed possible candidates behind the prank.
"He sounds like a brilliant person," Sirius was dumbfounded to know that there were parents out there who allowed their children to cause mischief and not punish them for every little mistake. He wondered what it would be like to have that kind of family.
James smirked, "you have no idea mate."
