The State Verses Derek Morgan-Ch 58
When Derek and Penelope walked through the door at the Rossi mansion she was met by a hug from Fran, Dave and the girls, she smiled and said, "it's sooooooo good to be home, to be here with you guys". Dave said, "we've missed you to kitten, when we thought we'd lost you it felt like we'd lost our heart but now that you're here, we can finally breathe again".
Hotch walked through the door with Mia right behind him, Derek said, "I was hoping that you'd be here too", Mia said, "well of course I'm here, I can't let you celebrate without me now can I?", Derek said, "we'll have to do something special for Anderson and Luke". Derek looked around and said, "speaking of Luke, where is he, why isn't he here?", Dave said, "he was exhausted so he's home sleeping but he wanted me to tell you congratulations and he's happy that you were proven innocent".
Derek smiled and said, "Hotch, speaking of Luke, I think you should ask him to be a permanent member of the BAU", Dave said, "I agree with him Aaron", everybody else nodded their heads, everybody but Penelope. She crossed her arms over her chest and sad, "I don't really know the noobie butttttt if you all like him then that's all I need to know", Hotch said, "I'll talk to the director and get his approval and then talk to Luke".
They heard the door open and heard JJ and Emily talking as they took Henry and Jack's coats off to hand them up, when they were done they walked into the living room and when Henry and Jack saw Penelope standing there they started crying. Penelope dropped to her knees in front of them and opened her arms, the two little boys ran into her arms and buried their faces in her neck, she said, "awwww, my babies, it's okay, I'm here, I'm here".
ack said, "aunt P, every night when I said my prayers I'd ask God to let you come back to us and he did, he did" as the crying little boy wrapped his arms around her neck, she rubbed her hands up and down the little boys backs and said, "I'm here, aunt P's here". Henry said, "you not weabin us gein wight?", she shook her head and said, "no my little ray of sunshine, aunt P isn't going anywhere else, okay?"", both little boys said, "kayyyyy" as they held on to her for dear life.
Derek stood watching the two little boys, his heart broke for them, it was hard for him when he'd thought she was dead but she was an adult and he couldn't imagine how it was for 5 year old Henry and 7 year old Jack. Fran smiled and said, "since everybody's here, let's head to the dining room and have dinner together, we need to celebrate Penelope being with us and of course for my baby boy getting out of jail".
JJ said, "come on Henry", he said, "noooooooooo, pwease momma, don't take me way, pweaseeeeee", Emily tried the same with Jack and got the same response as JJ did with Henry. Penelope said, "it's okay, it's okay, I'm here I'm not leaving, I'm not leaving", both boys pulled back only long enough for her to get up out of the floor before each one took a hand and headed toward the dining room with their aunt P.
Reid said, "it's okay Jayje, they're afraid that if she gets out of their sight that they'll lose her again, it's okay, just give them both some time", Hotch said, "Spencer's right and something tells me that when we try to leave later it's going to be the same way". Dave said, "how about we settle that part now, why don't you all stay here tonight, I mean it's not like we don't have the room, that way the boys can stay with kitten".
JJ and Emily looked at Hotch and Reid how nodded their heads yes in agreement, JJ said, "thank you Dave, we'll take you up on your offer", he grinned and said, "well then, now that we've got that handled, let's go eat". JJ and Emily followed Dave through the house and when they got into the dining room they saw that the boys were sitting beside her, Henry on one side and Jack on the other, Penelope smiled as she hugged both boys again.
After dinner Penelope, Henry and Jack laid down on the couch with Penelope and it didn't take long before all three were peacefully sleeping, Fran said, "why don't we put them all three in the same bed, that way they'll be happy that they're all together". Derek said, "I'll carry baby girl", Reid and Hotch then picked up their sleeping sons and carried them upstairs to one of the closest empty bedrooms.
Derek laid Penelope down first, then Reid laid Henry, followed by Hotch laying Jack down, everybody stood back and couldn't help but smile, they looked adorable sleeping together like that. JJ and Emily pulled out their cells and snapped a few pictures, Emily then looked at Derek and said, "I'll send you the pictures later", he grinned and said, "thanks" as he nodded his head yes.
Dave stood beside Derek as Derek said, "as much as I want to be laying there beside her tonight, those two little boys need their aunt P more", Dave said, "you should have seen them when they thought she was dead, it broke my heart to see them, they were completely shattered", Derek said, "we all were", Fran walked into the room and said, "that we were, that we were".
Fran looked at her son and said, "would you like me to put a mattress in here for you?, Derek said, "as much as I would like that, thank you but no thanks momma, Jack and Henry need her tonight". Fran hugged her son and said, "you going to stand here for a few minutes?", Derek said, "yeah momma, just for a few minutes, I've missed her so much, I just want to sit here and watch her sleep for a little while"
The rest of the team smiled and then slowly left one at a time until it was only Derek left, he then whispered, "good night baby girl, I love you", he then smiled lovingly at the sleeping woman before turning around and walking out of the room so Penelope, Jack and Henry could get some much needed and deserved sleep.
