Garak smiled as he saw a familiar face heading towards him down the Promenade. "Ah, Doctor, just the person I wanted to see. I—"
Julian was lost in thought, muttering to himself. "...cross-reference the Badlands gamma-theta radiation spectra with unique nucleotide sequences in the DNA."
Their paths collided before Garak could finish his question. The collision startled Julian out of his deep concentration, but his mind was still elsewhere.
"I'm sorry, I—" Julian stammered, but his eyes were unfocused, already returning to his tangled thoughts. He stepped to the side and continued on.
"Then analyze anomalous protein markers and epigenetic adaptations..."
Garak studied Julian for a moment, realizing he was barely aware of the encounter. The doctor hurried into the infirmary, and the doors shut neatly behind him. Garak couldn't help pondering the curious words Julian had been muttering to himself.
