Chapter 33!
Kyoka x Izumi! I've done stuff here and there but I need to do more with this pair. This is going off an idea from my idea fic in which Izumi and Kyoka are roommates and around 25.
Enjoy, more notes at the end!
False Sound
*Kyoka POV*
She wasn't looking forward to this conversation.
Kyoka had already texted her roommate the situation but she was still preparing herself for what was coming. Opening the door to their place, the heroine entered as quietly as possible, hoping that the other woman was already asleep, but as she made it only a part of the way to her room she heard a light cough from her side. Halting in place and dropping her shoulders, Kyoka turned towards her roommate who had been laying on the couch and was now sitting up with a less than amused frown. Her roommate's long green hair was down and messy from a nap and her bangs fell over her face but Kyoka could still see the green eyes staring directly at her.
"I bought ice cream," she offered weakly, holding up the bag, but there was a beat of silence until her roommate loosed an exasperated sigh.
"Give it to me now," Izumi grumbled, sweeping her hair back, and Kyoka grinned sheepishly at the small break she was being given.
Quickly grabbing a spoon for herself, Kyoka joined her friend over on the couch and opened her own ice cream while giving the popsicle one to Izumi. Her roommate then laid on her back and Kyoka went with her, laying her head against her stomach, as the greenette loosely wrapped her legs around her from behind. Kyoka then turned on the TV and the two ate their ice cream while flipping through channels and making fun of the shows. Eventually, after they'd finished eating and were just relaxing, Kyoka felt Izumi take a deep breath and she steeled herself.
"Kyo," the greenette spoke up, finally breaching the topic. "Why do we need to fake date?" she asked seriously and Kyoka re-positioned herself so she was facing Izumi while still laying on her.
"We don't need to fake date," she stubbornly tried but the greenette looked unconvinced.
"Why do you want me to fake date you?" she reworded immediately which made the heroine groan loudly.
"Look..." Kyoka began, still not sure how to explain it, but Izumi cut her off.
"Kyoka," her roommate called, stopping her suddenly since she hardly used anything but her nickname, and the heroine waited patiently. "We're friends," she reminded simply, before a tiny grin touched her lips. "With sometimes benefits," she added while brushing a thumb across her cheek which made her blush bashfully but also in annoyance. "Why are we fake dating?" Izumi asked again and Kyoka let out a loud and irritated groan while snuggling her face into her friend's stomach.
"I don't know alright?" she admitted, her ears feeling warm from embarrassment and frustration, but Izumi waited for her to continue. "Can you please just do this for me while I figure it out?" Kyoka urged and she felt a fist being lightly twisted on top of her head.
"Where are we going for our fake date?" Izumi questioned, getting her to raise her face and look at her again, and Kyoka smiled slightly in relief.
"The cultural festival at U.A," she explained, "my friends wanted to get the old class together." Izumi stared at her, likely knowing that wasn't all she wanted to say, and Kyoka gave in and mumbled out the last part. "I also may have already said I was dating someone too."
It had been quite some time since they had gotten everyone to meet at once since they were all about 25 now and busy with hero work, as well as having spread all over to different places in Japan, so something like U.A's Cultural Festival was an ideal event to get together at. However, it was because they were 25 that a number of her old classmates were currently dating or even married at this point and Kyoka had stupidly said she that she was too when they suddenly put her in the spotlight during the conversation about meeting up. She'd have mused more about that annoying part but her roommate scowled.
"I have to meet your friends?" Izumi asked, obviously not keen on the prospect, and Kyoka nodded.
"Yes," she confirmed and the other woman halfheartedly glared at her.
"Kyo," she whined, now resisting the idea even more, "this makes no sense."
"Stop reminding me," the heroine nearly begged and she felt Izumi play around with her hair.
"They're your friends," the greenette pointed out as if she had forgotten. "Why are they gonna care if you're still single?" she asked honestly and Kyoka turned her gaze down.
"You're usually so chill about my requests," she grumbled, not wanting to answer the question, and her roommate poked her forehead to make her look at her again.
"Your requests aren't usually asking me to fake date you," she retorted. "The most I do is buy you ice cream," Izumi told her yet this time Kyoka put on a smirk.
"And go down on me," she teased which only made Izumi break into an amused grin.
"And go down on you," her roommate agreed while Kyoka moved further from the previous topic.
"You consider ice cream the harder task?" she wondered next while Izumi leaned her head back to rest it on the couch's arm.
"I have to go outside for ice cream," the greenette complained. "Now back on track," she redirected and Kyoka groaned while slackening her body so Izumi was fully supporting her.
"They probably wouldn't care," she admitted in defeat, knowing that that hadn't been the exact issue, before lowering her voice, "but I care."
It was true, this was all because of Kyoka's own problems and now she was selfishly dragging Izumi into it. However, she still wasn't ready to talk about other stuff, still hadn't figured out certain things for herself, so for the time being this is what she needed. If only she could figure out...
"You care that you're single, that you said you weren't but are, or if your friends know you're single?" Izumi listed off, direct as ever, and Kyoka frowned as she was broken from her thoughts.
"Enough of that," the heroine griped. "You're already onboard," she realized, knowing that Izumi would go through with it despite the initial push back, and the greenette rolled her eyes.
"I was forced onboard AND I don't understand," she complained and Kyoka huffed.
"I don't care," she replied, changing positions again so she was facing the same direction as Izumi this time. "I'll make it up to you though...somehow," she assured beneath her breath and she heard her friend hum in response. "Where's your arm by the way?" she asked suddenly, moving on, and Izumi waved her one hand.
"Probably acting as a paperweight somewhere," she mused, also raising her right arm that had nothing from just above the elbow and down, and Kyoka pressed back against her.
"You really should actually use it," she slightly nagged but Izumi blew a raspberry.
"It irritates my skin," she whined childishly, "and it gets in the way of my quirk."
"The quirk you never use?" Kyoka supplied sarcastically, "get one that doesn't then."
"That's a trip outside and money," Izumi argued back and the heroine scoffed.
"I'm not getting one from my support friends for you," she told her earnestly which gained a grumble in response.
"Why do I let you live here?" the greenette asked but there was a playfulness to her words and Kyoka grinned as she snuggled against her.
"I keep the dishes clean," she responded and Izumi went silent.
"That it?"
"Pretty much."
"Then I can't get rid of you."
"Thought so."
Notes and Stuff
Roommates with benefits, fake dating, I'm hoping to have some fun with this.
I'll get to Izumi's quirk soon enough but she's down part of her right arm because of it. Coincidentally, the other Kyoka x Izumi fic I have has Izumi with an injured left arm instead.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
