John Walker continues to wait for Jack Bauer to arrive. He knows it's possible that his associates want him dead, so he stands by the trees. Maybe he's being paranoid, but he wants to make certain that any snipers won't have a clear shot of him.

Heinrich Raeder sets himself up, ready to eliminate John Walker and Jack Bauer. Walker is the primary target, but he isn't making it easy. Walker knows it would be stupid to stand out in the open, but hopefullt the opportunity will present itself soon.

Jamal continues talking to this other person on the internet. Jamal rants about how the system is rigged and racist, how they want African-Americans like himself to fail. He isn't exxagerating by much, but he still wants to believe things will get better. Jamal wants Teri to have a better life than he had. Eric Carter observes this. Kim and the others haven't had much success, Jamal might have their best lead to finding the remaining terrorists.

Raeder continues to watch Walker, intently waiting for him to leave himself open. He doesn't even realize someone is sneaking up on him. It is Nina Myers, and she trains her gun on him. Raeder hears the gun clock and he knows he's been captured.

Raeder: I surrender.
Nina: Who do you work for?
Raeder: I'm not saying anything.
.
Nina then knocks Raeder unconsciouss and calls Jack.

Nina: I captured a sniper, so far he refuses to talk.
Jack: Good work. Tony, any snipers on your side?
Tony: No, I just finished my sweep, it's clean.
.
Jack decides it's safe and goes to speak with John Walker. The sun is just starting to rise.

Walker: You Jack Bauer?
Jack: Yes.
Walker: I want proof that Laura is alive before I answer any questions.
Jack: Fair enough.
.
Jack then dialed Tony's number and Tony showed Walker a picture of Laura tied up.

Walker: I need proof that this is live, Laura, what was the name of your goldfish.
.
Jack was frustrated, feared Walker was just stalling, but he instructed Tony to remove the gag from Laura's mouth and have her answer the question. She said her goldfish was named "Old Pete." Then Tony hung up.

Jack: Satisfied?
Walker: Yes, what do you want to know?
Jack: The truth. Are you involved in the attacks against this country?
Walker: Yes.
Jack: Towards what end?
Walker: To keep the war in Afghanistan going. This way the government still has to use my defense company, and I make millions.
Jack: At the cost of thousands of innocent lives, American and Afghani?
Walker: You got it.
Jack: Who else is involved?
Walker: Dmitry Utkin.
Jack: The head of the Wagner mercenary group?
Walker: Yeah, he wants to expand the war between Russia and Ukraine, they also have certain arrangements with insurgent groups in Afghanistan.
Jack: What comes next?
Walker: The plan was to pressure the American and Russian governments into adopting a more hawkish stance on the wars.
Jack: I mean, are there more planned attacks against America?
Walker: Long term, I'm sure there will be. But, the attack on the White House was the end of this operation.
Jack: One of my associates, just stopped a sniper that was probably here to kill you. Your associates want you dead, it's in your best interest to tell me everything.

Walker knew that Jack was telling the truth, and began talking about Gaines and the others. But before he could say much, John Walker was shot. Jack couldn't tell from where the shots were fired, but it was clear that Walker woud be dead in a matter of minutes.
