I have two other stories I am working on, so don't expect frequent updates on this one. I also have an original novel in progress, so updates can be slow. Enjoy the story of "Dinosaur Fighters", readers!
Chapter 1: The Battle Begins
[Kalundborg, Denmark]
(Daniel's POV)
The sunlight shone brightly in the blue, cloud filled sky. I was walking on the streets of my hometown with my "dog" beside me in chibi form of a dinosaur, more specifically, a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He was red with green stripes across his back, he had a brown belly and blue eyes. Ever since I found his stone and card a few weeks prior, he and I were inseparable, almost like brothers, if you can put it like that.
While Tyrunt was my dinosaur, I was hoping my friends would find their own dinosaurs in time. Why? Because one dinosaur can't handle a larger problem by itself.
Oh, what's my name? My name's Daniel Clausen. I am a young twelve year old boy from the country of Denmark who is an enthusiastic when it came to dinosaurs. I wore a red jacket with black buttons. The sleeves were short, and my jeans were blue with a bit of black stripes.
I made sure that no one could hear what Tyrunt was speaking to me, "When are we going to battle someone? I'm getting restless." He was very excited when it came to battles, like how I was now that he and I were partners.
"Don't worry, Tyrunt," I whispered, turning a corner around a building and looked around, in case people didn't hear us. "We will get to battle. We just need to be patient."
Tyrunt sighed, sitting on his rump on the warm earth. "I was hoping to meet some dinosaur to fight, but alas it doesn't seem that way."
I smiled sympathetically at him. Then my device, a red and silver colored Dino Gauntlet beeped, and I looked at it on my left wrist. "Huh, looks like you'll be able to get your wish after all, bud."
"Really?" There was a hint of excitement in Tyrunt's voice.
"Yep; a dinosaur just appeared," I told him. "Let's get to the lab as soon as possible."
Tyrunt nodded, and together, we ran in the opposite direction from where we originally came from and made our way to the laboratory that was resting on the outskirts of the city.
[Kalundborg, Outskirts]
We ran until we found the laboratory. The lab was a tall building with the head shape of a Carnotaurus. The doors opened as soon we made it inside. The inside of the lab itself was big, there were a table in the middle of the room beside a transporter which the scientist, Sarah, had made to transport me from place to place on Earth.
"Sarah, where's the dinosaur that has appeared?" I asked, walking up to her.
Sarah was a woman in her early twenties. She wore a white lab coat, underneath it she had a yellow shirt, and she wore a pair of glasses. Her eyes were green and her hair was black. "It appears to be in Sanjo City, Japan."
"Japan?" Tyrunt wondered. "That's where some of our friends, the D-Team, lives! Partner, we'd better hurry!"
I nodded, agreeing with him. "We will be on our way."
"Please, take care, son!" said my dad, Dr. Jan Clausen, who wore a brown jacket with red stripes. "You'd better not get hurt, or else—"
"I know," I cut him off. "I will be careful."
"We will be careful," Tyrunt corrected.
"We're off!" I announced, pressing a button as the transporter lit up and teleported me and Tyrunt away from the lab.
[Sanjo City Park, Japan]
Soon we reappeared after the flash of light disappeared around us. I looked around and noticed a Battlefield was here. This meant a battle was taking place. "Let's go," I told Tyrunt, who nodded.
We ran towards where the battle was. After we reached an area in the city by the water of Sanjo City, I noticed three of my Japanese friends; Max, Rex and Zoe, all fighting a… Tyrannosaurus? With a Triceratops at their side?
I looked at Tyrunt, who smiled. "Here we go, partner!" I said as I pressed a button on my Dino Gauntlet, turning Tyrunt into a card and swiped it through the card swiper. "Dino Slash! Tyrannosaurus, roar!"
Tyrunt reappeared, full-sized, roaring out his appearance in a high-pitched battle cry. He ran towards the enemy Tyrannosaurus and headbutted it with his head, causing the Tyrannosaurus to fall on the ground.
"Hey!" cried out the woman controlling the Tyrannosaurus. "That was uncalled for!"
I ran up to my friends, who looked surprised.
"Daniel?" Max asked. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh great," the woman groaned loudly. "Another brat."
I heard Tyrunt's growl. "Who are you calling a brat? My partner?" he demanded.
"It can talk?!" the woman gasped.
"Tyrunt's not a mindless creature, you know," I reminded her. "He is intelligent. But enough of this. Who are you, and why are you attacking my friends here?"
"You're friends with these brats?" the woman asked in a rude tone.
"So?"
"We're the Alpha Gang!" the woman announced proudly.
"Imagine your worst nightmare!" said the guy with the glasses in the black coat.
"Except you're wide awake!" the fat guy finished.
"Wow, what a lame introduction," I muttered.
"Who are you calling lame, you brat?!" the woman demanded. "Anyway. We're here for the dinosaur next to yours, but I guess we can capture yours as well, twerp."
I grinned. "Challenge accepted."
"Daniel, what are you doing?" Rex asked. "You will get your dinosaur taken."
"Yeah, there's no way you can beat that Tyrannosaurus on your own," Zoe added.
"Watch me," I smiled confidently.
Tyrunt stepped beside the Triceratops, who looked curiously at him. "I am ready, partner."
"Here we go, then!" I decided, taking a Move Card out and swiped it in my Dino Gauntlet. "Head Charge!" I shouted.
Tyrunt roared loudly, lowering his head and charged at the Tyrannosaurus, then hit its belly with his head. Hard, I'll add. The Tyrannosaurus of the Alpha Gang roared in pain.
"The finishing move," I announced. "Volcanic Fire!"
"Oh yeah! My favorite move!" Tyrunt called out. His mouth lit up in flames before he fired the flames at the Tyrannosaurus, which roared painfully once again before turning into a card.
"Nice!" Max cheered.
"Way to go!" Zoe added in the cheering.
I gave them a thumbs up. "That was easy!"
Tyrunt roared in victory before I returned him to his card, then his chibi form appeared next to me while the Triceratops appeared in chibi form by Max's feet.
"Oh, that Triceratops is yours, Max?" I asked.
"Yeah. Chomp's mine all right," he nodded.
I looked over to the Tyrannosaurus card. I wonder who they are.
"Who do you brats think you are?! Ruining our very important mission?!" the woman demanded us.
"My name's Max, but who are you?" Max wanted to know.
"The Alpha Gang, as we stated before!" the woman said. "The name's Ursula."
"Zantastic Zander!" the guy in black added.
"And Ed, I say."
"Why are you out here, trying to steal someone else's dinosaur?" I demanded.
"Well, that's for us to know, and for you brats to find out, isn't it!" Ursula replied. "But if you messes with us again, you will find out!" She pointed at us, then ran off with Ed and Zander in tow.
"She was really weird," Max noted.
"The old lady?"
I chuckled at Zoe's comment.
"Excuse me!" Ursula returned. "Who are you calling an old lady? I'm NOT old! I'm in my twenties!" Her two comrades had to drag her away.
I shrugged to my confused dinosaur. "Well, I'd better get going."
"Excuse me, Daniel… where are you going?" Max asked.
"Back home," I replied. "There wasn't a new dinosaur appearing, so I am going back to rest with Tyrunt here."
"Tyrunt?" Zoe wondered.
"That would be me."
She looked down at my Tyrannosaurus. "Oh. Hello, nice to meet you."
"Likewise," he gave her a toothed grin.
I looked at my Dino Gauntlet and pressed a button, then got teleported away with Tyrunt from the area.
[Laboratory, Kalundborg, Outskirts]
I reappeared in a flash of light in the laboratory with Tyrunt on the transporter. My dad was still in the building with Sarah.
"Oh, good. You're back," he sounded relieved. "How was the trip, son?"
"It wasn't a trip, exactly, but I met my friends of the D-Team at Sanjo City," I answered.
"Ah," Dad smiled. "How were they doing?"
"I didn't get time to ask them, but from the looks of it, they have a Triceratops at their side now," I explained.
"And to make matters worse," Tyrunt added, bitter in his voice, "we ran into this trio called the Alpha Gang while there in the park."
"The Alpha Gang?" Dad wondered. "Who were they like?"
"They were attempting to steal Max's Triceratops," I said. "If it weren't for us, they would've gone away with Chomp."
"Chomp?"
"Max's dinosaur's name," Tyrunt replied.
"Well, at least you're unharmed," Sarah spoke. "How was the new Dino Gauntlet that I gave you?"
"It was great," I smiled. "It worked perfectly with the transporter, as expected from the one who made it."
"I'm happy to hear that."
I stretched my arms.
"Looks like you could need a rest, son," said Dad. "It was a long day for you."
"Yeah," I agreed. "I could need it."
"Besides," Tyrunt stated, "those Alpha Gang people seems like someone who we easily could defeat by ourselves without the D-Team's help."
"Remember, we can't do this on our own," I reminded him.
"Daniel's right, Tyrunt," Sarah added. "You need to have your friends of the Dinosaur Fighters to get their dinosaurs as fast as possible. Who knows when a stronger enemy will appear, and you are outnumbered if they come in with large numbers?"
Tyrunt took a step back. "I—I mean…"
"Don't worry about it," Dad said. "All in all, you two are going to get even better as a team. Always remember to look out for one another."
"Right," both Tyrunt and I nodded.
[At a mining site, U.S.A.]
(Christian's POV)
I sighed as I searched the ground for anything unusual. My dad was with me, looking for something, too. We were currently in a mining site in U.S.A., where we and a team from Denmark was digging for fossils. Although I found the fossil digging part boring, at least I could get a week or two off from school.
That was when something caught my eyes in the dirt. "Hmm?" I wiped the dirt away with my hands.
Dad noticed it. "What have you found, son?"
"Something like an egg," I replied, having wiped the last piece of dirt from the egg-like shape. "What do you think is in this, Dad?" I showed him the strange egg.
"Hmm, let me look," Dad said, taking the object and examined it with a magnifying glass. "It looks to be a capsule, Christian. And within this capsule, I can see a card and a stone."
"Really?" I asked, excitement in my voice.
"Yes," he nodded. "And it seems like the card and stone has a Wind symbol on them. Take a look." He opened the capsule and showed me the items.
"Wow," I breathed, holding the card and stone in my hand. "It looks like Daniel's stone, except for its Wind symbol. And the card seems like to be an Utahraptor."
"Utahraptor?" Dad questioned. "That's excellent. You keep onto these, Christian. Do not lose sight of it, alright?"
I nodded. "I will."
"That stone and card," A voice spoke. "Give them to me."
We all turned to find a strange man in a white, long-sleeved jacket wearing a mask standing nearby the mining site.
"Who are you?" Dad demanded. "You can't just walk in this area. We're in the middle of a digging process."
"I don't care about that," the man said. "I am here for that Utahraptor card." He pointed to the card in my hand.
"Well, you can forget it!" I said bravely. "There is no way I am letting you get a hold of this card."
The man stood silent for a moment, before he smiled darkly. "In that case, it looks like I will need to force it from you." He raised his left arm and swiped a card in his Dino Gauntlet, which was purple and black. "Saurophaganax, come forth!"
A black scaled Saurophaganax came forth in front of us all. We were speechless. The Saurophaganax had a hint of reddish scales across its black body.
I grit my teeth. "Looks like I have no choice. Utahraptor, I need your help!" I swiped the card across the knob and a bright light appeared, as the Utahraptor appeared in a roaring announcement of its arrival.
[Kalundborg, inside Daniel's house]
(Daniel's POV)
I was about to watch some television with Tyrunt, when my Dino Gauntlet beeped a red blinking light on its screen. "What?" I wondered, walking over to it. "A dinosaur has appeared."
"Let's get crackin'!" Tyrunt said determinedly.
We rushed out of the house and made our way to the Fighter Lab.
[U.S.A., mining site]
(Christian's POV)
I was watching the Saurophagnax about to hit my Utahraptor with its tail, but the Utahraptor jumped above it in time. "You can do it, Utah!" I cheered.
"Cheering won't help you," the man reminded me. "There is no way you can stop Saurophaganax."
"No?" Another voice spoke. "But maybe I can."
We looked over to find Daniel standing with Tyrunt by his side.
"Daniel!" I said, relieved. "I need your help!"
"That's why I am here," he replied. "Ready, Tyrunt?"
"Always," his partner nodded as he was turned into a card and reappeared in full-size.
The man growled. "Such interference will cost you dearly."
"As if I will let you take my friend's dinosaur!" Daniel shouted. "Tyrunt, help Utahraptor!"
"On my way!" Tyrunt roared in response.
Tyrunt ran up to the surprised Saurophaganax and tail-smacked it in the side of its head, before he headbutted the enemy dinosaur with his head.
"Volcanic Fire!" Daniel yelled, swiping the card in his Dino Gauntlet.
Tyrunt roared, firing flames at the Saurophaganax and got it surrounded, until it roared painfully and returned into its card form.
"All right!" We cheered together.
"Grr," growled the man. "I will remember this defeat. But remember, the next time we meet, things will play out differently!" He vanished in a flash of light.
(Daniel's POV)
I walked up to Christian after returning Tyrunt to his chibi form. "I see you managed to get an Utahraptor."
"Yes," he said, looking at his card. "I am going to make sure this dinosaur will be safe from any bad guys coming our way. I won't let that guy take my new partner."
I smiled. "Great!"
"By the way," Dr. Craig started, walking up to us. "How'd you get here, Daniel? I thought that the transporter wasn't ready yet."
"Oh, it was for a long time ago," I explained. "I tested it out by assisting the D-Team in Sanjo City."
"That's good news," Dr. Craig spoke.
The other miners were completely silent, unsure what to comprehend from the events that had recently transpired.
"So, when are you two planning on coming home?" I asked.
"Well, not for a month, that's for sure," Christian replied.
"We've still got lots of digging to do," Dr. Craig added.
"Ah, gotcha!" I gave them a thumbs up. "See you in a month, then, Christian." I pressed the return button on my Dino Gauntlet, and Tyrunt and I vanished in a second.
