Loud laughter filled the air. It was everywhere, there was no place here to hide from it and it was slowly getting closer.
Emmet, shaking from terror looked around, but saw no one. There was no one in the empty house, no one, except him.
He was there all alone. There were only him and this laughter. It was getting closer and closer, slowly step by step.
"NO!" Emmet quickly opened the door he was standing next to and ran inside the kitchen. The laughter become quieter, but still was near him.
Emmet started to look around, trying to find a way out. He looked at the window and taking the chair, shattered the glass but immediately jumped back.
Instead of street and its beauty there was only darkness. Pure darkness that covered everything. Sun, clouds, even other houses, there was nothing but this darkness.
Emmet looked at the door and felt his heart skip a beat. There was him. He was slowly moving towards him and with each step the house was changing.
It was becoming more broken, more dark, more scary. Walls started to crack, all the plants died, floor became dirty as if no one was living in this house for ten years.
This thing was slowly moving closer to Emmet, making him shake even more, it wanted to hurt him, it wanted to kill him. It was always doing the same.
Every time this thing was getting close to him he was feeling head pain and every time Emmet was trying to run away from it, don't let it touch him, but each time he was failing.
"P-please don't!" Emmet cried, seeing how close this thing got to him. It didn't stopped but started to move faster.
Emmet yelped and feel on the floor, he tried to back away from this thing. It was too close to him, too close, just one another step and it will be able to touch him and then-
"Don't touch me!" Emmet cried and closed his face his a hand. Thing stopped and slowly looked at him with its green eyes but after a moment, it touched him.
Emmet woke up screaming. His head was hurting again, but this time the pain was killing him. It was too painful to handle. He was feeling as if something was ripping his brain from the inside.
"Emmet!" Lucy ran in his room and quickly handed him pain killers. Emmet gulped all of them at once and bit his lip. It started to bleed but he paid no attention, the only thing he was focused on was pain. Pain that slowly started to fade away
Lucy sighed and sitting on the bed next to him, put a hand on his shoulder, "Emmet, you need to see a doctor"
"No I'm NOT!" He yelled angrily, too angrily. Lucy's eyes filled with worry, but she tried not to show it. Emmet took few deep breaths and calming down, sighed, "I'm sorry Lucy"
"Don't worry Emmet, it's fine, but…" She bit her lip, "You do need help, you've been having this head pains for a week now and they are only becoming worse"
"Thank you I know!" Emmet sighed and rubbed his forehead, "I just… It's these nightmares; I just don't know why I keep on having them"
"Nightmares?" Lucy's voice sounded bit too worried for a simple thing like nightmares, "And what happens in them?"
Emmet looked at her with confusion, the way how she acted was something unusual, "Well, it starts the same I always return home, but it's empty and then I hear loud laughter and he starts to chase after me"
"He?" Emmet's eyebrow flew up almost hiding in his hair. Lucy's voice was now full of worry and disbelieve as if she already knew what he was about to say and it made her terrified to bones.
"Rex…" Emmet gulped, "Rex Dangervest, he always chases after me and then, when he touches me I start to feel pain…" Lucy's face turned pale and Emmet noticed that.
"Uh, Lucy? What's wrong?" Emmet slowly moved closer to her and put a hand on her shoulder, but she quickly laughed and tried to smile, but Emmet noticed how strained it was.
"Nothing, nothing really!" She laughed again and stood, "Let's just go make you some nice sugary coffee" Emmet smiled a bit at that and stood after her.
Strange, why was Lucy acting like this? It was a simple nightmare! Sure the nightmare that was always the same but still, there is nothing unusual about it!
Once they entered the kitchen Lucy took two cups and started to make them both coffee. Emmet sighed and sit on the chair. The strange and heavy silence feel between them.
What's going on? Lucy was never that quiet before! Well she was, but in a good way of being quiet! And not like she is now, she's too quiet.
"Uh Lucy, what's wrong with my nightmare?" Emmet asked and noticed how Lucy's body winced a bit at this question.
"Nothing, it's just that…" She sighed and moved to Emmet with two cups of coffee, "It's just when I hear about Rex and especially hearing that you dream about him, makes me worried"
"You don't need to be worried Lucy, you know that I'm never going to turn into him!" Emmet smiled and took a sip of his coffee, "I like this version of me and I don't want to change and you know that!" He laughed
"Yeah, I know…." Lucy took a sip of her coffee and grimaced a bit. Did she accidentally mix their coffees? But that would mean...
"Uh, Emmet?"
"Hm?" Emmet looked at Lucy with raised eyebrow. Lucy pointed at his cup then at hers and looked at him.
Emmet looked at his coffee, then at hers and started to cough loudly. He didn't even noticed that he was drinking black coffee before Lucy pointed it out. Why he didn't even noticed? It tasted fine before but now it was awful.
Lucy moved him his cup and took hers. The worry on her face was still pretty noticeable, even if she tried not to show it.
Emmet quickly gulped a lot of his sugary coffee and smiled at the taste, but noticing Lucy's worried face, his eyes filled with worry. Why she was acting like this? Was there something wrong with him?
But…. There is nothing wrong with him, he is Emmet Joseph Brickowski! He is the most cheerful and kind person of all and in accidentally drinking black coffee is nothing wrong! Absolutely nothing!

I was actually planning to make chapter 1 like I usually do them now, but since it's the first chapter, I'll let it be as it is!
