A/N: Decided on doing issues 2 and 3 together as 2 has a 99% focus on Brion and would be canon and he's also the focus for about 10% and with the last 4-8 pages being flashbacks it made the issue slightly shorter.

Chapter LXVIII: Ominous Intel.

Last Time.

"They're robots!"

Naruto shot multiple exploding arrows before one newly identified robot tackled him through the window.

Naruto grunted as he pulled his half-mask up before pushing the robot's arm up as it tried to shoot a dart in his neck. He then stabbed the robot in the face with an arrow having it blow the head off and having wires pop out. Naruto ran inside to see Denny, Ollie, Dinah, and Serling knocked out with a dart in their neck as Perdita was missing.

"We lost her, we lost the Queen," Jim said, running up with Roy.

"We'll get her back! We have to!"

"And we will. I swear it." Will said, taking his sunglasses off to stare at the sky.

(Flashback.)

Vlatavastok September 28, 2010 20:16 EET.

Red Arrow was on a ledge overlooking an apartment. He looked through binoculars at a fair-skinned man in a blue military outfit holding a drink. He glanced around after getting intel that the League of Shadows was planning to assassinate Vlatava's King, Josef Vladek, Perdita's father. And wanting to prove himself decided to stop it

He moved to the building beside him and saw Sportsmaster kneeling. Red Arrow dashed over as Sportsmaster started swinging a ball on a cord before shooting it out of his hands. Red Arrow shot another that Sportsmaster caught before looking at the hero. "That's the best you got? One lowly arrow?" He asked before snapping the arrow. "A broken arrow at that?"

Red froze before being punched out. Later, when Red woke up, he dashed back to see Perdita's father dead in his room.

(Flashback End.)

Naruto helped put the knocked-out people in ambulances before looking up at the window himself.

Star City November 09, 18:02 PST

Kage was watching a TV outside the room, his wife, Ollie, and Perdita's bodyguard Cat Grant was on screen with a picture of Perdita.

LIVE FROM HOLLYWOOD

18:01 PST

"We have confirmation that Perdita Vlatava has been abducted today in Star City… The Queen was abducted from a S.T.A.R. Labs facility there… While supposedly under the 'Watchful Eye' of bodyguards from Bowhunter Security. Dr. Serling Roquette of Royal University and S.T.A.R. Labs was left in a coma by the attack…"

Naruto turned to see Artemis walk in before following to see Cissie was inside with the others. "Trust me, Will. It's Sportsmaster's coma concoction alright. And even with the antidote, it'll take several days to wake."

"Which means no one's awake to tell us why they were targeted and Bowhunter Security wasn't."

"I got hit, but Kurama burned it off," Naruto said, crossing his arms. "Ollie pulled his bow and so attacked him… I'm not at liberty to say, but Perdita asked me to help as she had to meet Serling about something found in her homeland but had to be discreet. My guess is Vertigo found out from any followers of his and probably ordered to get it as he can't become King." Suddenly, Oracle came up in his vision. "Shoot."

She brought up Wonder Girl and Brion who spoke after bringing his arms behind his back. "I wanted to reassure you that I am as concerned for Perdita and as concerned about Vertigo as any of you. But I must state Unequivocally… That none of you have permission to enter Markovian Territory. Leave this mission to me and my Infinitors. We will apprehend Vertigo and rescue Perdita. You have my word. Markovia out."

Markovburg November 10 04:35 EET.

At the Royal Palace, Geo-Force is ready to lead the Infinitors out, when Baazovi bursts in demanding to know where they are going. Fury explains that she has intelligence on Vertigo's whereabouts. Baazovi takes Brion aside and urges him to put aside any thoughts of vengeance against Vertigo for now. As Brion leads the way, Baazovi pulls Trajectory and Everyman back and orders them to protect their king.

The Watchtower November 09, 21:19 EST.

Kage stood with Artemis, Argent, Orphan, and Mist as they got ready for their mission. "I thought Thirteen would be here," Argent said as Naruto turned to her.

"I couldn't get to her before Dr. Fate had to go off somewhere and I didn't have time to look for her." He said before they, Orphan, and Mist walked into the Zeta-Tube.

"Recognized-"

Markovia November 09, 04:49 EET.

The Infinitors crouch in some woods. Fury explains that the armored attackers were spotted in the area, where there are 16 cabins, all closed for renovation. Brion sends Everyman and Kobold to stealthily check the cabins, starting with the one-lit one. Everyman takes the form of a raccoon and Kobold shrinks down and rides him.

As they peer through the window of the lit cabin, they see Simon Ecks, Piotor Platz, and Johann Mintz playing poker. They do not go unnoticed; they had been expecting them. Back outside, six armored units set upon the other Infinitors. Geo-Force sends Trajectory to check all the other cabins while the rest deal with the ambushers.

Everyman transforms into a hulking monster but is blasted back by one of the attackers, sending him out of sight of the others. The remaining Infinitors hold their own, but they can hear Everyman roaring and struggling. Brion is about to go to his aid when Trajectory appears carrying Perdita. Brion assures Perdita one of his best will take her to safety, but she asks for him to take her personally, to which he agrees.

He leaves the battle to the others, ordering someone to help Everyman, before taking Perdita away. Trajectory volunteers to go after Everyman, but instead finds Baazovi, Vertigo's three associates and two armored attackers. She reports to Baazovi that Brion is taking "Perdita" to the Palace, but Fury and Kobold are still there.

Baazovi is satisfied and has #13 turns off the Everyman sound effects being played by his armor, then orders the squad to depart. The six armored units fly away carrying Ecks, Platz, and Mintz, to Fury's confusion from afar watching the men suddenly flee for no reason. Meanwhile, Brion reassures "Perdita" she is now safe as he carries her, riding a wave of lava. She turns her head away and smiles.

Hollywood November 09, 20:57 PST.

At the Premiere Building, Wonder Girl takes a call from Markovia. 'Perdita' assures her that she is fine following her 'rescue' by Brion, though tired. Brion reiterates his commitment to finding Count Vertigo, and Cassie thanks him for his help, despite their difficult history. After the call ends, Beast Boy, who listens from nearby, expresses doubts; Perdita didn't ask about Denny or Ollie or any of the others put in comas during her abduction.

She then calls Robin for a report.

Paris November 10, 05:59 CET.

Robin tells her they are now working on it, just as he ambushes Joe Henchy in the street. Henchy runs but soon finds himself facing El Dorado. Henchy tries to flee again, but Ed just teleports in front of him once more. Robin ties Henchy up with a rope batarang and has Looker psychically read him. She gets the info they need but tells Robin the news is not good.

Vlatavastok November 10, 07:54 EET.

"We're part of a United Nations Commission."

Naruto, wearing a leather jacket and jeans, said to a doctor as they stood in a room with several people in the beds of a hospital.

"Authorized by Secretary General Fury herself. The ladies have earned their internship with me." He continued before looking around. "How long have these patients been in comas?"

"Nearly two days." The doctor replied, holding a clipboard up and adjusting his glasses. "We believe it's some sort of toxin."

"We've seen this before and may have an antidote… I'll get back with you," Naruto said before the doctor left as Andy was talking to his wife.

"And where was your husband working before he collapsed?

Markovburg November 10, 07:56 EET.

At the Royal Palace, Brion escorts "Perdita" to her room. She is concerned about being left alone, but Brion assures her he has assigned two of his best cadets to guard her; Lizard Johnny and Jet. Once "Perdita" is alone in her room, she comments on the luxurious accommodations, suggesting she is not accustomed to such.

Paris November 10, 06:10 CET.

Back in Paris, Raptor Squad releases Henchy and reports back to Wonder Girl. Looker reports that she had found that Henchy and Vertigo had been in contact very recently and was actively searching for ways to break Vertigo out of prison, without success. Henchy was sure Vertigo had not planned his escape, or Perdita's kidnapping, much to Wonder Girl's confusion.

Back at the Royal Palace, Brion debriefs the rest of the Infinitors. Since the kidnappers could fly and most of the Infinitors could not, minus Everyman who tried to follow as a bird but could not keep up, they all escaped capture. They arrive at "Perdita"'s door, and the two cadets report it has been quiet; they assume "Perdita" is asleep. Brion enters to find "Perdita" missing. He orders a search as Everyman and Trajectory share sly smiles.

Krastmala November 10, 20:06 EET.

"Krastmala is a mall in Hamlet, thirty miles North of Vlatavastok."

Shinobi explained to the others as got into a mine. "It's also where all of the patients worked or were near here." He finished heading into the mine shaft.

They rappel down to find a huge cavern carved out by an underground river. As they investigate the rocks, Mist radios a warning; six armored units like those that took Perdita are approaching. "Hit them hard, they're robots."

Mist takes down one by re-solidifying a small portion of herself inside it, short-circuiting it. Argent destroys another with an explosive batarang aimed at the neck.

"Oracle… Please tell me I was wrong about what Perdita found here."

"… No."

"Damn it!" Naruto cursed before sighing. "Hack into this to find where the signals coming from… The ones from before got too damaged."

Suddenly, Robin came up. "These machines contain proprietary Technology… Common to one a certain breed of Spider-Bot we've dealt with before."

"So Vertigo's not behind this." Naruto narrowed his eyes as Robin nodded.

"No… It's been Lex Luthor all along."

Metropolis November 10, 13:14 EST.

Lex Luthor sits at his desk at LexCorp HQ smiling as he laces his fingers together.
