The day after the events of last chapter, Vicky and Daiji, now back in their normal attire, we're in the city looking for a monster. The two stayed close to one another with Daiji saying,"You see this thing?"
"Nope. How did we lose a monster?",Vicky questioned.
"Well it did decide to run off and it looked almost normal.",Daiji joked.
"Don't be smart with me amigo.",Vicky replied with a chuckle. Vicky and Daiji turned a corner, entering a train station, and they stopped to look around. Daiji grunted in frustration then he and Vicky heard crashing and looked to the second floor to see Blood fighting a monster which was a large gorilla with light blue fur and dark blue skin.
"There's the monster and Kai.",Daiji said while he and Vicky put their buckles on.
"How did he get here before us?",Vicky questioned.
"Spirit change.",Daiji said while pressing the button on his buckle.
"Gravity change.",Vicky said while pressing the button on her buckle.
"GATE OPEN!"
"GO FORTH, AVATAR OF SPIRIT!"
"CONTROL THEIR MASS, AVATAR OF GRAVITY!"
Spirit and Gravity then jumped onto the second floor, seeing Blood fighting the monster along with Beauty. Beauty dodged the gorilla monster, saw Gravity and Spirit then said,"Daiji-kun, could you and Vicky-san help us please."
Blood was then tossed over Beauty's head, landing on his back. Beauty went to Blood while Spirit and Gravity began to fight the monster. Blood sat up and shook his head, standing up with Beauty helping him. Blood and Beauty brandished their weapons then charged at the monster.
Spirit dodged two punches from the gorilla monster then he narrowly jumped away from another. He then had to be saved from a kiosk being thrown at him by Gravity. Gravity helped Spirit up while saying,"Tired already D?" playfully.
"Heh, I'm just warming up.",Spirit said with confidence.
"Good, then this should be fun for us.",Gravity said while spinning her machetes and brandishing them. Spirit scoffed in amusement before he and Gravity charged at the monster.
Blood dodged a punch from the gorilla monster then he helped Beauty move out of the way of a punch. He then kicked the monster in the chest while Beauty slashed it. Spirit blocked a punch then was tossed into Blood. Beauty swung his axe at the monster, with it moving backwards with each slash. Gravity charged at the monster and thrust her machetes towards it, but the monster jumped onto the rafters then roared angrily.
Spirit and Blood joined up with Gravity and Beauty then Spirit said,"This thing is really fast for a giant gorilla."
"I don't think this is big enough to be considered giant.",Blood commented.
"Kai, not now please.",Spirit said looking at Blood.
The gorilla roared then it turned into code and disappeared. The four gasped then they looked for the monster with Beauty saying,"Where did it go?"
Gravity looked towards an escalator and she saw Ren looking towards her and the others. He currently had his hood over his head but he smirked deviously before turning on his heel and walking down the escalator. Gravity ran after Ren, reverting into Vicky as she did so. Vicky went down the escalator to the first floor and she looked for Ren, to no avail.
Vicky gained a saddened look then she raked her hands through her hair before saying with sadness and anger,"Dammit!"
"Vicky,"Daiji said as he, Shun and Kai came up to her. "You find the monster?"
"No, it got away.",Vicky said with a saddened sigh.
Daiji cursed under his breath but he then said,"Well at least it's not attacking any more people."
Vicky nodded, looking away from Daiji and putting her right hand on her left bicep. She did her best to keep her saddened expression out of sight and to make sure none of her friends knew how she felt. Daiji looked at Vicky, staying silent but his face showing that he knew something was off.
Shun frowned slightly then he looked over his shoulder, seeing Kai walking towards a ticket booth. Shun ran after Kai and once close he grabbed Kai's hand while saying,"Kai-chan, where are you going?"
Kai looked at Shun, his eyes being red briefly then he fainted. He quickly regained consciousness and looked around while saying,"Where am I?"
"You're in a train station with me and the others. We all were fighting a monster.",Shun explained becoming worried. Kai looked at Shun and he nodded then he turned to the booth and said,"There's something else here. Like it's watching you and me." with his normal apathetic tone.
Shun raised an eyebrow at this then he began to sense that someone was watching him. He looked around, seeing no one but Daiji and Vicky, then he questioned,"Why am I feeling the same thing?"
"Hey guys,"
Shun and Kai looked towards Daiji and Vicky while Daiji said,"We're going to go home. We'll see you later."
Shun and Kai nodded then waved goodbye as Daiji and Vicky left. Shun then noticed Kai was still waving and he grabbed his hand, interlocking their fingers.
In Vicky's car, Daiji was driving while Vicky was in the passenger seat looking out the window. Daiji drove into his and Vicky's apartment complex then he parked the car and asked,"What'd you see back at the train station V?"
Vicky hesitantly looked at Daiji then she said,"Ren." sheepishly.
Daiji nodded in understanding,"Knew something got you down earlier. Did he say anything to you?"
Vicky shook her head and Daiji sighed. He then put his hand on Vicky's shoulder,"You want to talk? Maybe getting your thoughts out will help?"
Vicky scoffed,"I wouldn't even know where to start."
"Well, I have time and I am always willing to listen.",Daiji said with a reassuring smirk. Vicky looked at Daiji then she said with a small smile,"Let's go inside before I start my therapy."
Daiji nodded, then he and Vicky got out of the car. They began walking to their apartment, talking with one another the whole time.
Unbeknownst to the two, Ren was watching them from some bushes. He had an angry glare trained on Daiji the entire time and he gritted his teeth. Ren then said,"Shut up, I'll do what you ask after I deal with the guy trying to get with my sister." with a rage full growl.
A blue and violet colored aura began to radiate from Ren and his eyes briefly changed to being the same colors.
At Shun's apartment, he had begun to paint when he looked over his shoulder at Kai. Kai was holding his katana and staring at it intently. Shun stopped painting and he went over to Kai and sat next to him saying,"Kai-chan, why don't you put down the katana?"
Shun reached for Kai's katana but Kai quickly moved it away. He then looked at Shun and said,"You can't touch this."
"Why can't I?",Shun asked, somewhat hurt by how Kai snatched the sword away.
"Because I don't want you to get hurt by touching it.",Kai explained bluntly. He then put his katana down and he turned to Shun. "You being hurt makes it hard for me to think. Like I cannot focus and all I want is for you to get better."
Shun pushed some hair away from his face while saying in a caring tone,"That's you caring for me which is normal. I don't like seeing you hurt, especially when we're fighting monsters."
"But I also like seeing you and being around you. My heart beats fast when we are close and touching you is very nice.",Kai explained in his apathetic manner. Shun's eyes widened and he blushed while saying in an astonished voice,"Are you saying you love me Kai-chan?"
Kai nodded hesitantly then he asked,"Is that how love is supposed to feel?"
Shun smiled, then he happily nodded while saying,"I love you too Kai-chan."
Kai used his hands to make himself smile and Shun giggled happily. He then put Kai's hands down at his sides before he leaned forward and kissed Kai lovingly. Shun pulled away but he felt Kai's hand on his waist and Kai said,"I really like it when we are this close as well."
Shun bit his lip then he straddled Kai while saying,"We can get closer." and biting his lip. Kai tilted his head then Shun kissed him, this time turning it into passionate tongue kissing. Shun then took off his shirt before kissing Kai once more and laying Kai down on the couch.
Unbeknownst to the two, Kai's katana faintly glowed blood briefly while Shun's locked guitar case faintly glowed magenta.
That night, Daiji walked through his shared apartment when he saw Vicky had fallen asleep on the couch. He went over to her and he placed a blanket over her while also putting her legs up on the couch. Daiji then turned to leave but stopped in his tracks when he heard Vicky mutter in her sleep,"Daiji."
Daiji looked down at Vicky, seeing that she was still asleep, and he gained a caring smile. He then looked at her phone as she got a text. Daiji picked up Vicky's phone and read the text, scowling as he did so. He then looked at Vicky once more before putting her phone down and walking towards the door.
Half an hour later, Daiji walked into a mining quarry, his face showing cautious determination. He moved past the gate and walked further inside before seeing Ren sitting on a backhoe. Ren raised his eyebrow as he saw Daiji nearing him, then he said,"I thought I sent a text to my sister, not her nosy friend."
"You did and while I usually would let Vicky figure things out herself; this time I couldn't do that.",Daiji said, stopping not too far from Ren.
Ren scoffed,"Of course you couldn't. You're the hero after all." while jumping off the backhoe. Daiji and Ren circled one another then Ren cockily said,"Tell me, what's your interest in my sister? She offer you something in return for you protecting her?"
"Why would I need a reason to protect my friend?",Daiji asked, his scowl still being fiercely set on Ren.
"Because there's always some reason for people to do things. People go to jobs to get money, murderers kill to get a thrill blah blah blah.",Ren said in a patronizing way.
"I'm protecting Vicky because I am her friend and I don't really like you.",Daiji said, his scowl trained on Ren.
"Ha, keep telling yourself that. Maybe you have fallen for her, can't blame you. Vick is a beautiful woman and she has a great personality. Shame that she'll hate me once I deal with you.",Ren said while putting his buckle on his waist. Daiji put his buckle on then he readied himself as Ren did the same.
"Spirit change.",Daiji said while pressing the button on his buckle.
"Moon change.",Ren said while pressing the button on his buckle.
"GO FORTH, AVATAR OF SPIRIT!"
"COMMAND THE NIGHT, AVATAR OF THE MOON!"
Spirit and Moon charged at one another. Spirit jumped over Moon, kicking him in the shoulder as he did so. Spirit then dodged three slashes from Moon then he rolled under another. He swept Moon's legs out from under him causing the lunar avatar to fall to his back. Moon quickly got to his feet and slashed at Spirit several times, all of them being dodged, then he managed to kick him in the gut. Moon then slashed Spirit twice on his chest. Spirit and Moon then punched each other in the chest, causing both to stumble back. Spirit and Moon then charged at one another once more.
At Vicky's apartment, Vicky was waking up, stretching and yawning as she did so. She then reached for her phone and saw the text from Ren. She read it and sighed heavily before getting up and saying,"Daiji, Ren texted me and I need your opinion."
Vicky heard no response and she raised an eyebrow,"Daiji? You here?"
Vicky looked towards the door to see Daiji's shoes were gone as was a gray hoodie that Daiji usually kept with him. Vicky looked down at her phone again then she looked at the door and said with great concern,"Oh no."
Vicky then ran towards the door, hurriedly grabbing her keys and wallet while also putting on some sandals.
Back at the quarry, Spirit and Moon were still fighting one another. The two dodged and blocked each other's attacks before they both hit one another. Spirit grunted then narrowly dodged a swing of Moon's sword. He quickly backed away from three slashes then he managed to grab Moon's wrist and divert a slash to the ground. Spirit then landed four powerful punches on Moon
Moon grunted in anger before he punched Spirit in the face then kicking him in the chest, causing Spirit to stumble back. Moon then took out a second buckle and pressed the button on it causing it to say,"DATA GATE OPEN!"
The gorilla monster appeared next to Moon and snarled at Spirit. Spirit gasped before saying,"How the?"
"If you were playing this game right, you'd know that each avatar has special abilities. Mine is to summon monsters and have them fight at my side.",Moon said rather angrily before he snapped his fingers. The gorilla monster roared before charging at Spirit. Spirit braced himself and was punched by the gorilla monster, causing him to tumble backwards.
Moon chuckled as he neared Spirit. He commanded the gorilla monster to pick Spirit up and throw him towards him. Moon axe kicked Spirit towards the ground then he picked him up before slashing his chest several times. He then kicked Spirit towards the gorilla monster while saying,"Rough him up for me will ya."
The gorilla monster punched Spirit four times then it picked him up and slammed him in the ground. It then slammed its fists into Spirit's chest five times before making Spirit stand up. Moon approached Spirit, making the gorilla monster disappear as he did so, before he stabbed Spirit in the side of his abdomen.
Spirit's transformation broke, reverting him into Daiji, and he gasped in pain while grabbing Moon's wrist. Moon chuckled then he moved his sword around causing Daiji to call out agony while Moon chuckled evilly.
"Of all the avatars I've fought, you're the one who I've wanted to kill the most.",Moon said with an evil growl.
"Why? You barely know me.",Daiji said, gritting his teeth in agony.
"I don't have to know you to despise you. You're the kind of guy that puts on a front of being a white knight just so you can get close to people before stabbing them in the back.",Moon explained.
"The hell are you talking about? I've never done that to anyone.",Daiji responded.
"Not yet but it's only a matter of time. I won't let my sister be your first.",Moon growled, blue and burgundy colored aura radiating from him. Daiji gritted his teeth then he noticed the aura coming off of Moon as well as how it was starting to take shape and black electricity sparking around it. Moon twisted his sword and Daiji yelled in agony at the sudden movement.
Moon chuckled evilly,"Hearing you scream is like music to me. Shame I won't hear it again after tonight."
Suddenly, Vicky's car sped into the quarry and almost hit Moon. Moon jumped onto the backhoes roof while Daiji fell to the ground, Moon's sword being abruptly removed from his abdomen.
Vicky quickly got out of her car and went to Daiji saying with great worry,"Daiji."
"V, what are you doing here?",Daiji asked before wincing and clutching his wound.
"Don't talk right now.",Vicky said while putting pressure on Daiji's wound.
Moon sighed in annoyance then said,"C'mon sis, this is the second time you've stopped me from getting rid of this guy."
"Shut it.",Vicky said, not even turning to Moon.
"I mean he's obviously just trying to use you. No one out there will be there for you like I can.",Moon said, sounding unhinged as he did so.
Vicky's eyes became violet and she gritted her teeth before turning her attention to Moon and angrily roaring,"I SAID SHUT IT!"
Moon was thrown into the air and went flying backwards, slamming into a nearby portable office. He fell to the ground, reverting into Ren and falling unconscious. Vicky growled in anger, her growl sounding like a lion's, then she looked back at Daiji. She then helped Daiji into her car before she got in the driver's seat and sped away.
Meanwhile, Ren laid unconscious on the ground with the buckle he used to summon the gorilla monster next to his hand. It was then that a gold boot with a black sole stepped in front of him.
"Heh, you're coming along nicely.",a modulated male voice said. "Won't be long before you're ready to ascend."
