Chapter 19
The next morning, Olivia had rounded up all of her detectives that were not otherwise occupied. The team felt small without Fin there, but he and Bruno needed to help the poor woman that they had saved the night before. Elliot had to actually attend the cases that OCCB had and he promised to try and reach out when he could.
"All right, I'm sure by now you've heard of Benny's unfortunate passing," Olivia announced to the bullpen. She stood in front of a mobile bulletin board with the players of their case tacked up to it along with some notes about the evidence against them.
"That was cold. His mom has more loyalty to Oscar Papa than her own son," Velasco piped up.
"Agreed. She won't be getting away with it though. Duarte's team is wrapping her up right now," the Captain said.
"With Benny gone, what does that leave us?" Muncy wanted to know.
"Sorry I'm late," Carisi announced his appearance as he entered the bullpen. He was carrying a box of baked goods and a cardboard coffee tote container that usually provided about twelve servings of the hold liquid.
"You brought food and drink. We'll forgive you," Rollins smirked.
"Just this once," Olivia made a beeline for the coffee.
"What that leaves us is Sacrilege, especially since Bugbear is dead," the blonde spoke up as she snagged a cruller from the box of baked goods. Carisi had brought donuts and muffins and it was just one of the reasons she loved him. He knew she needed her carbs in the morning.
"Before we get all excited about that, how would you get him to flip? He knows Bugbear is dead. There is nothing stopping Hector from keeping his mouth shut," Olivia gave her a look before she headed back to the bulletin board.
"Maria is going to testify tomorrow, right?" Muncy asked.
"Yes, along with Duarte so that only gives us today and tomorrow to get Hector to flip," Carisi pointed out.
"What about Albert?" Velasco wondered.
"He's not doing well and his mother is not interested in getting her son more involved than he already is. I am hoping that a visit from me might help but I wouldn't hold your breath," Olivia frowned.
"Then that just leaves Hector," Rollins wasn't so enthusiastic about that.
"Let me talk to him," Velasco offered. Olivia wasn't sure she liked this, but she also wasn't sure that sending Muncy or Rollins in was a good idea either. Hector was BX9 and the reach of Oscar Papa certainly found its way into the prisons. Still sending Velasco in by himself…
"Rollins, go with him," Amanda was the one she trusted the most besides Fin.
"You got it," the blonde nodded. Muncy looked disappointed and Olivia knew that she'd made the right call.
"Muncy, you're with me. We're going to see Albert. Carisi, I wish you luck with your prep today. We'll keep you posted," The Captain gave him a smile.
"Good luck everyone. Rollins…" the ADA gave her a look – they had an appointment later on that day. Dinner at his mother's. It was an important step in their relationship and he hoped it would get her off his back. Rollins had been concerned about meeting his family, but he knew that she'd knock them dead. Truth was, even if she didn't, he didn't care. He was going to marry the detective. He just had to find the right moment to ask.
