Chapter 5: The Saltasaurus

[Meanwhile]

(Rex's POV)

While we were looking for the dinosaur, we made it to where it was. "There it is. A Saltasaurus"

"You're right," Zoe nodded.

"You can really tell it 'cause of the boney plates on its back," Christian confirmed.

"And lucky for us, he's a plant eater, and not a predator," Jake noted upon closer inspection.

"No kidding," Zoe agreed.

"Okay, Ace," I started, "it's time for you to get to work." I got my Dinoholder out, before noticing the sun went out.

"Uh-oh…" Jake's gulp got my attention.

"What?" I looked up to see the Saltasaurus right on top of us. "Aah! Run for it!" We quickly ran out of the way as the sauropod crushed a tree in its path.

The Saltasaurus continued on its way before it was stopped again, this time by a blue glow. Soon afterwards, a Spinosaurus appeared in front of the Saltasaurus.

The jungle changed into the Battlefield.

"Haven't we seen that Spinosaurus before?" I asked Zoe. Then I regretted questioning that as I soon spotted the Alpha Gang. "I remember."

Zander and Ed seemed to be rubbing their heads, while Ursula laughed. "I hope you didn't forget us. Need I to jog your memory; Ursula, Zander, and Ed. Hi."

"Great," Zoe frowned. "The old lady."

A tick mark formed on Ursula's head, and Zander and Ed had to keep her. "Would you stop calling me old! I'm not old!"

"She said bold lady, not old!" Ed tried calming her down.

"Right; bold, strong, brave!" Zander backed him up.

"Oh," Ursula calmed down. "Alright then, get in there, Spiny and tear them all to pieces!"

Spiny roared, as did the Saltasaurus, who went into a defensive stance as Spiny jumped into the air with his jaw open, but the Saltasaurus blocked his attack with its hard, bony back, causing him to be knocked back. Spiny landed on his feet, then got back into a fighting stance and roared at it.

"Go! Hit it again!" the Alpha Gang cried out.

"I don't think we should put Ace and the others out there," I said to Zoe and Christian, who both nodded in agreement.

(Max's POV)

"I can't find Chomp," I muttered. "I can't find the new dinosaur. I can't even find myself in this jungle without my Dinoholder." I kept pushing on the buttons, trying to get something to happen. "Why won't this dumb thing power up. Come on!" I groaned, then sighed and sat down on a fallen tree. "It's hopeless." My stomach then growled, causing me to place a hand on it to calm it down. "Man, I'm hungry. I wish I had a couple of those hamburgers." I then put up a worried look. "I bet Chomp's hungry, too, wherever he is." My expression then turned into an upset one as I began to call out my friend. "Hey, Chomp!"

[Meanwhile, at the battle]

(Rex's POV)

Birds flew away as the battle between the Saltasaurus and Spiny continued. Spiny charged at the Saltasaurus again, aiming for the belly. The Saltasaurus responded by swinging his neck knocking him back again.

As the fight went on, we watched in amazement. "Wow! That Saltasaurus is incredible," I awed, bewildered by the sauropod's performance.

"It looks like he's going to win!" Jake added in agreement.

"Ursula, just give it up already. Throw in the towel," Zander pleaded with her.

"That thing's kicking Spiny's butt," Ed added.

Ursula turned away in disgust. "Thank you both for your confidence," she smirked again. "I still have a trick up my sleeve." She pulled out a Move Card. "Remember our little trump card?"

"Oh, yeah. The Move Card!" Zander recalled.

"But you don't have any sleeves," Ed noted, eyeing her outfit.

"It's just an expression," Ursula snapped, causing them to cringe in fear. "Swipe that card! Let's swipe that dinosaur!" She tossed the card to Zander.

Zander pulled back out his scanner and slashed the card through it. "Go, Spinosaurus! Tail Smash!"

Spiny roared as he glowed for a moment, before he smacked his tail at the Saltasaurus's head.

"Ah! Saltasaurus, get out of the way!" Zoe cried out.

Spiny continued to smack his tail at the Saltasaurus's head, eventually knocking it on the ground.

"No! Come on, get up!" I called out to it.

"This battle is over," Ursula stated. "All right, Spiny, finish it with one last shot!"

"You can do it!" Zander added through his scanner to the Spinosaurus.

As Spiny roared and made his move, the Saltasaurus slammed its tail at him a couple of times.

"I can't take the pressure anymore!" Ursula yelled. "Get in there, Spiny, and finish them off!"

"Uh, Ursula?" Zander called for her attention as their scanner was blinking red. "This means his energy is low. Maybe he skipped breakfast?"

"The most important meal," Ed added.

"What are you talking about?!" she shrieked before she began to panic. Sure enough, Spiny collapsed and returned to his card, unable to continue the fight.

"Hey, he returned to his card," Jake pointed out.

"Yeah, and Saltasaurus's leaving," Christian noted as the Saltasaurus began to get back on its feet and continued its quest.

"Oh, no!" I realized. "Let's go after it!" I told my friends.

"Right!" They nodded as we left the area.

[Meanwhile]

A few moments later, I continued wandering in the rainforest, looking for Chomp.

"Max's vlog. Day five. I haven't seen any sign of hope for the last two minute. My hunger is starting to get the best of me. I might have to eat my own hand to survive," I spoke to myself. I was currently walking through a shallow river with my Dinoholder strapped on my head with two vines, and I was also fanning myself with a large leaf that I had found.

Just then, the bushes nearby began to rustle.

"Is that you, Chomp?! I've been looking everywhere for you!" I spoke hopefully as I went to check the bush. Soon a small head popped out, one of a lizard. I fell over in defeat. "Never mind, it's just a lizard." Suddenly, a roar came from behind me as the ground started to shake. I turned and saw the Saltasaurus's head emerge from the trees.

Immediately thinking the worse, I bolted my way out of there. "Aah! Why are you chasing me?! You eat plants, and I'm a boy made of meat!" I cried out, trying to reason with the Saltasaurus. I heard it was still chasing after me.

[Meanwhile]

(Daniel's POV)

I was walking with both Tyrunt, who was in his small size again, and the Giganotosaurus by my side while we were looking for Max and the rest of our friends.

I noticed them by a riverside. "Hey!" I called out, waving as they turned to me.

"Daniel!" Christian and Jake cried out in relief, running up to me. "Where have you been?!" Christian demanded.

"Long story short, I was chased by Giganto here who helped me fight off the Alpha Gang and prevented them from capturing her," I explained.

"Giganto?" Rex repeated, looking at the Giganotosaurus in question, who was in her smaller size.

While we stopped talking, I soon noticed a Saltasaurus across the riverside. "So, that's the other dinosaur that the Alpha Gang's been talking about?"

"A Saltasaurus?" Tyrunt added in his question.

"Yup," Rex nodded. "But, the question is, where is it going now?"

"I don't know," Zoe replied, beginning her theory. "Looks like he's chasing something."

We soon heard a familiar voice, "Help me, someone!"

"Max!" We called out to him once we got a better view of him running along the side of the river while the Saltasaurus was walking through the shallow part of it.

He turned and looked towards us. "Huh? Hi!" He waved cheerfully before the Saltasaurus blocked his way. He started to pick up speed.

"We need to get across this stream, now!" Jake told us.

"But the current's too fast," Zoe informed him. "If we go in we'll be swept away."

"Oh," Jake slumped in defeat.

"We need a boat," Rex said.

Just then, Zoe had gotten an idea while I looked at her with the same idea. "That's it!" She clapped her hands together. "We need something like a boat to get across!"

"But we don't have a boat with us," Christian pointed out.

I grinned just then, looking at Giganto who blinked. "No, but we do have dinosaurs."

"What?" Giganto questioned. "How are we supposed to…" She began before I held up my Dino Gauntlet. "Oh, you don't mean…" she realized.

"Row faster!" Ursula's voice came just then as they were in a boat they somehow got. "Renting this boat was a really good idea, glad I thought of it." She then noticed us on the other side of the river. "Oh, look, it's those kids again." She began to mock us. "Why so glum? Up a creek without a paddle?" She laughed maniacally and then got relaxed.

"Dino Slash!" I called out loudly. "Giganotosaurus, roar!"

The large Giganotosaurus landed in the water right behind the Alpha Gang, causing a large wave to send them further down the stream, past the Saltasaurus. "Why do I have to be the boat…?" she grumbled.

"Whoa!" they screamed.

Ursula grabbed her hair in frustration. "Why me? I try to be a good villain, and they always set me up for a fall."

"A fall!" Ed screamed. "A fall! A fall!"

"Yeah, I already said that," Ursula grunted, oblivious to what he meant.

"No! I meant a waterfall!" Ed told her, as their boat went off the edge.

Meanwhile, I beamed to see Zoe and my idea working. "Well, guys, let's get going." I climbed onto Giganto's back, followed by Tyrunt, then Rex, Zoe, Christian, and finally, Jake.

Once we were all onboard, Giganto sighed. "I don't seem to be finding this any fun. Why do I have to be the one carrying you all? Why not Tyrunt? Or anyone else?"

"You're bigger," I pointed out. "Besides, the water's not hurting you at all, is it?"

Giganto grumbled, before walking across the water to catch the Saltasaurus.
