Chapter 4: Punctuality, or the lack of

"Sir. Guy, for the last time, stop pacing and sit down before you wear a hole in the floor, and they take it out of my paycheck!" Arthur commanded his airman. They had been waiting on the Secretary of Defense to contact them for well over two hours now, and Sir. Guy was not a very patient man on a good day. Add in everything that had happened over the past year and you got an even shorter-tempered man who was a hair's breadth away from his breaking point.

"Arthur, this meeting was supposed to take place well over an hour ago! I should have been on my flight to see my wife by now, I need to see her with my own eyes. I know the reports you've given me said she was safe, and that Saint is staying with her until I return, but it's not the same. Had she not been captured and held captive it would be a different story, I would not be as anxious to hold her. What the hell is taking this man so long anyway? He was the one to set this meeting up-" Guy was cut off by the Secretary of Defense logging onto their virtual call.

"Good evening gentleman, I apologize for the delay. There was new information presented to me shortly before our meeting was supposed to start, and I needed to review it. It seems the man with whom you worked for undercover, The Sheriff of Nottingham was working for a man higher up the food chain than we initially thought. It seems he was working for a man called Prince John who was responsible for the kidnapping of your wife and one of the main people in charge of the local terrorist group. It is not yet clear yet on why they took your wife; however, with this information added into the mix, I need to hear directly from you on what intelligence was gathered on your mission." The Secretary of Defense stated Guy.

Guy recalled all the events that had happened since he started his undercover mission, with Arthur filling in here and there, all the while trying to comprehend the fact that the man responsible for kidnapping his wife, was working with The Sheriff. 'What did they want with Genevieve thought? it just doesn't add up.' He thought after hearing this new information. Guy wasn't sure that his cover hadn't been blown and The Sheriff hadn't been toying with him; he wouldn't have put it past that evil man and his sick sense of humor to string him along. Guy made a mental note to speak with Arthur about this later, he didn't feel it was appropriate to bring it up to the man on the screen in case it was nothing.

"…that is everything that I can recall sir from the mission. You will find a similar statement in my debriefing that was sent to you prior to this meeting. I do not think there is any other relevant information to give to you now." Guy finished his recollection of events from the past seven months.

"Arthur, is there anything else you would like to add to this meeting before we adjourn?"

"Not that I can think of sir, if something does arise, I will be in contact with you," Arthur replied, wanting to end this meeting sooner rather than later. He hadn't missed the change in his airman's stance when it was mentioned that they may have a lead on Genevieve's kidnapper. Arthur would talk with Guy at a later point about this new information, but for now, he wanted to get the man back to his wife, that was his top priority.

"Thank you for your time gentleman, we will be in touch when we have more information on this Prince John, your country thanks you for your service." And then the screen went black, signaling the meeting was over, much to both Arthur and Guy's relief.
