The next couple of months seemed to fly by fairly quickly. As Danny continued to fight for Amity Park, he managed to win over more and more people. Now when he flew around patrolling during the daytime, toddlers were excited to see him, kids waved at him, and teenagers flocked over him. He never let any of it get to his head, though. He was just glad people were finally getting used to him.
On this particular summer day, the park was full of people, including Tucker, Sam, and Danny. Jazz had been home from college for a few weeks already, but decided to opt-out of the offer to join them today.
"You two look like a couple of hippies," Tucker commented as he laid his eyes on the couple. They were laying in the grass with their eyes closed, sharing earbuds to listen to music together, and Sam peeked one eye open to look up at him.
"And what's so wrong with that?" She countered.
"Nothing. It's just funny."
"Your face is funny."
"And to think it was just starting to feel peaceful," Danny said, interrupting their bickering.
"We're unaware of such a thing," Sam commented as she sat up.
"Clearly." His eyes were still closed and didn't see the slap to his stomach coming, causing him to grunt and sit up in surprise. Tucker was laughing and Sam was already up and running away, knowing he wasn't going to let that slide. He ran after her and caught up before she got too far and hauled her over his shoulder.
"I'm not a rag doll!" She shouted as he headed back to Tucker.
"You're my rag doll." She huffed and dangled helplessly, knowing she wouldn't be able to escape his grasp. He walked up to Tucker who only laughed at how ridiculous she looked. "Are you the one that ordered the goth vegan?" Danny asked him jokingly, causing Tucker to scrunch up his nose in disgust.
"Ew, I would never order such a thing," Tucker said, and Sam tried to wiggle out of her boyfriend's grasp.
"I'm starting to question why I hang out with you two," she said.
"You're just questioning that now?" Tucker responded, causing her to roll her eyes. Danny finally released her and gave her a playful smile, but she only narrowed her eyes at him.
"Doofas," Was the only thing she could think of as an insult at the moment.
"Very intelligent," Tucker said sarcastically. Danny laughed at the comeback but his ghost sense suddenly went off and he rolled his eyes with a sigh.
"So much for peace," he muttered. A ghost they had never encountered before showed themselves in the sky, causing the people around them to panic and run off. The ghost looked more like a robot aside from the green flame that came out from his head. Danny turned invisible to transform into his ghost half before flying up into the sky. "What the hell are you?" Danny said to him.
"I am Skulker, the Ghost Zone's greatest hunter," Skulker claimed. "I've been hearing rumors of a boy half human and half ghost and thought it'd be a wonderful addition to my collection."
"A ghost that hunts other ghosts?" Tucker questioned from below as he turned to Sam. "That sounds so wrong."
"I don't think I'm for sale this week," Danny said but saw Skulker's right hand turn into a blade.
"I wasn't asking," he replied before lunging. Danny quickly dodged it before kicking the blade with all his strength, breaking it in half. He felt triumphant until the broken blade turned into what looked like an ectoblaster.
"This is not going to be as fun as I thought," Danny said before flying away with Skulker in tow.
"I think we need backup," Tucker told Sam who already had her phone out to text Jazz.
"On it," she told him. Above them, Danny and Skulker collided for a brief hand-to-hand combat before separating again.
"I still don't quite understand what you want from me," Danny said to him.
"Your pelt on my wall," Skulker replied, causing Danny to inhale sharply.
"Gross." Their physical encounter continued with Danny taking quite a few blows but recovering quickly. He tried to hit him with ectoblasts but Skulker was too quick and was able to avoid them. He blasted Danny into a building, and he could feel the bricks crushing against his back. He was beginning to think Skulker was too skilled for him; he was the Ghost Zone's greatest hunter after all. He was just a kid trying his best, and his best currently wasn't good enough. As if on cue, the Fenton Family Ghost Assault Vehicle came barreling down the street, undoubtedly being driven by his father. It stopped in the middle of the road and Sam and Tucker ran up to it as Jazz hopped out wearing some sort of armor.
"What the hell is that?" Tucker asked.
"The Fenton Peeler. It's supposed to shed a ghost's skin," she replied.
"What does that even mean?"
"I guess we're gonna have to find out."
"Don't worry kids," Jack said as he rolled down the window, "this baby has all the works." He pushed a button from inside the R.V. and they watched as a ghost shield surrounded the car and a giant ectogun stuck out from the top of the roof.
"Here, you're gonna need this," Jazz said as she handed Tucker the Fenton Thermos. The ectogun started firing at Skulker who turned invisible to avoid getting hit. He tried to fire an ectoblast at the R.V. but it only bounced off of the ghost shield. Danny took the opportunity to tackle him, but Skulker was bigger and stronger. The only thing that saved him was Skulker getting hit by an ectoblast that launched him in the opposite direction.
"Nice shot!" Danny yelled down to where his family and friends were but paused when he saw Jazz. "What the hell are you wearing?"
"Something that's supposed to help you so be nice!" She yelled back before Danny shrugged and flew to where Skulker was. Rage overtook Skulker as he started to give the fight everything he got, punching kicking, blasting, and refusing to take a loss. Danny tried to defend himself, but Skulker was proving why he had the title of the Ghost Zone's greatest hunter. Everything he did to block the attacks, Skulker was able to counter. It wasn't long until he was knocked out of the sky, colliding with the pavement below him and he wondered if he managed to break his back upon impact. His ears were ringing and he was drifting in and out of consciousness. All he could see were flashes of moments happening before him. His family and friends were scrambling around, fighting Skulker on their own. He felt a wave of darkness coming for him. He didn't know how long he was down for, but it looked like the fight was over. He could see his family coming towards him and civilians coming out from their hiding spots. He could see phones in their hands, probably recording the wreckage and damage around them.
Probably still recording as he felt himself weaken and transform back into human before the wave of darkness consumed him.
The next chapter will in fact be the last one D: Can you believe that after five years this story is going to be complete? That's CRAZY
Invader Johnny: Is it bad that I would want Cujo as a pet? Even when he's the size of an elephant? That could be fun! :D
Nathem: I think we all know why Danny was sleeping nekkid ;)
Lisa-27-7: Aw, that's okay! And thank you! :)
