Alternate universe: Canon Divergence

Note: Honestly I wanted to do a mini time skip as the part 2 of this cause I certainly don't imagine this being a long story but I knew this scene needed to exist since it didn't make it in part one.

With a sharp cautious breathe Hermione walked towards the man, her wand in her ever tightening grip as her body could recall the last time she was here. The scarred skin on her torso throbbed from the painful memory as she carefully walking up to the man she was assuming to be Sirius Black.

She had to. No she needed to be sure it was him. Not just for her own sake but for Harry's as well. If this was some imposter she needed to do what was necessary before the word could get out.

The crazy thing in all of this. Her heart was telling her it is in fact Sirius Black. It terrified Hermione to be that 'right' in a situation where she had no clue what was happening.

She stood over him, "Sirius! Sirius Black" she called out to him, the string attached to both of them an even bolder red.

A groan came from the barely conscious man, "I used to be" he sounded just as she remember but his tone wasn't as strong probably perhaps from being in the Veil so long not using any aspect of his body. Which brought on more questions Hermione wanted to ask but they would have to wait for a better moment.

Biting her bottom lip as would crouch down to make sure that he heard this, for something only Sirius know "Snuffles, are you are alright?"

The man stilled at the ridiculous code name. It was definitely him, Sirius Black who they've lost some time ago.

Lifting his head. Hermione's brown eyes getting captured by his greys "Kitten?" that weak tone of voice spoke out. Hermione nodding her head 'yes' as the relief washed over her at the sound of her old nickname, oh how she did miss it.

Reaching a hand out to him, her's was promptly smacked away by Sirius with what energy he did muster up "No! You can't be." The red string tugging as Hermione took a couple of steps back

"Kitten is fifteen and you are certainly not a teenager" Sirius finding more his voice but he still lacked energy to move away from Hermione.

"Ok fair response" Hermione thought to herself.

She didn't want to bourdon him with such information so soon "Sirius" Hermione said calmly, he needed to know this before he did something even more reckless.

"It's been roughly twenty years since you were lost to the veil" she spoke simply. Hermione truly didn't want to overwhelm Sirius with the how much more time he'd had lost out on.

His movements slowed "Twenty? No I was just dueling Bellatrix. I …No…that not possible" Sirius recalling the battle in this very room.

"I'm so sorry Sirius but it's true" Hermione said.

"She hit me with a stunner…and I fell" The wizard muttered out. The memory of his 'Death' was so clear in his mind now, Hermione

Sirius speech slowing as "Backwards in to the veil"

Hermione needed help, "Sirius, I'm going to contact Tonks, she in the office today and we'll get you out of here." She said to him but the muggle-born witch wasn't so sure that he heard her as Sirius had seemingly zoned out, something had his attention.

Hermione walking a bit to give him some space as she pulled her wand out to cast her patronus. "Tonks, it's Hermione, I'm in the death chamber something of a very serious nature has occurred and I could use your expertise" Hermione watched as her otter patronus took off.

"Hermione, what's with this string?

Hermione momentarily stopped, oh Sirius saw it too!

"Why is it on my ring finger and yours?"

The brightest witch of her aged sighed, she had no answer for Sirius. Hermione would really like that fire whiskey now.
