Anne And The Daring Rescue
"Anne's fine," Suzie told Alan. "she's waiting out the storm by staying the night at an orphanage in Mom's hometown."
"I am glad to know Anne is safe." Alan said to Suzie, sighing with relief.
Back at the orphanage that evening, Anne was playing a game of checkers with a boy named Will Wilder.
When they spotted Kaori putting her slicker on.
"Where are you going?" Anne asked Kaori.
"I'm going to the bus stop," Kaori answered Anne. "I have some children who haven't checked in yet."
"Please, be careful out there." Anne said.
A few hours later, a twelve-year-old boy came running into the building in terror.
"Miss Sakurano! Miss Sakurano!" the boy called.
Anne looked at the boy, "What's wrong?" she asked.
"My three friends are trapped on an island in the middle of the river, Miss!" the boy exclaimed.
"Take me to them!" Anne exclaimed.
The boy led the way to where his three friends were stranded.
"My friends are over there!" the boy exclaimed in terror.
The water was rising and the island was crumbling all around the children.
"Oh, my gosh!" Anne exclaimed.
"Help us!" the three children, two girls and one boy cried in unison.
Anne took off her shoes and socks, "Be patient! I'll be right there!" she called.
"Hurry!" the children called.
Anne dove into the freezing cold river water to rescue the children.
Anne swam back to the other side, carrying the two girls on her back to safety.
Anne collapsed in the water on her way to rescue the young boy.
Back at the Chan residence, Stanley saw Alan had a dazed look in his eyes.
"What's the matter, Alan?" Stanley asked.
Alan recovered from his dazed state, "I sense trouble, Stanley." he answered worriedly.
