Author's Note: Here I am, with the latest chapter for I Just Wonder! After typing and posting the previous chapter, I started writing the new chapter and the next one.
Thank you to Crimson Commander688, tpotheroes, and .94402343 for the reviews, glad you enjoyed the last chapter. I hope you like this new one.
In case you're wondering, like Giselle in the original Enchanted movie, Aurora will instruct doves to send a floral wreath to Vanessa during the That's How You Know number. It'll soften Vanessa's anger towards Jack.
Anyways, enough rambling from me, happy reading!
Enchanted & Sleeping Beauty are properties of Disney. Some OCs belong to retro mania and some belong to me.
Chapter 8
Meanwhile, back in the live-action world of Las Vegas, Artie and the construction workers had just closed the manhole; when the cover begins to move. Diaval pushed the door aside and manages to pull himself out.
"What now?" Artie asks, sighing.
"Another one?" Chuck asks, confused.
Diaval found himself face-to-face with the group.
"Let me guess." Artie said skeptically, taking in Diaval's appearance. "You're uh, looking for a beautiful girl too?"
"No," said Diaval. "I'm looking for a prince and three fairies, actually."
"Right…" Artie drawls.
Suddenly, Diaval hears voices.
"What is that thing?" Fauna asks, puzzled. She gestures to the city bus.
"I don't know," said Flora.
"It looks like some strange carriage." Merryweather remarked.
"That beast must be holding my Aurora captive and must therefore die!" Philip declared. He runs after it, grabs on and climbed up from the back.
"Philip, be careful!" Flora called, as she, Fauna and Merryweather flew after him.
"This ought to be entertaining." Diaval thought to himself with a smirk, watching the scene unfold.
"Ha, ha, ha!" Philip laughs. Unsheathing his sword, he raises the weapon up high.
"You've met your match, you foul, bellowing beast!" Philip shouts.
With that, the prince stabs the bus with his sword. The blade goes through, startling the passengers and an old lady holding a large bag of bird seed; which rips a bit.
Suddenly, the bus comes to a stop. The driver, Shirley puts on the brake.
Clara, the bird lady drops her bag.
Philip pulls out his sword. Every passerby in Vegas had stopped and gathered around to watch. They had never seen anything quite like it, before.
"Everyone, stay on the bus." Shirley instructs.
"Aurora? My love?" Philip asks, peeking inside the vehicle.
"Aurora?" The fairies peered through a window.
"Drat!" Merryweather said.
"Right. The steel beast is dead, peasants!" Philip announced. "I've set you all free!"
Glaring, Shirley marches off the bus and directs her attention to Philip, who's leaning forward atop of the bus.
"Are you crazy?!" She yelled angrily. "Nobody stabs my bus! I'll tear you apart! Do you hear me? You get down here right now!"
Philip frowns, confused. He thought he was doing these peasants a favor.
Flora flies over to Shirley, followed by Fauna and Merryweather.
"Madam…" Flora started to say.
Shirley turns to the red fairy.
"You a friend of his?" She asked. "Crazy tight-wearing…Are you trying to mess up my route?"
"No, madam." Flora replied. "We're very sorry for all the trouble. We're not from here and we're trying to find a sixteen-year-old by the name of Aurora. Have you seen her?"
"No. I don't know nor seen a girl named Aurora." Shirley said bluntly. "I'm gonna let you all off the hook this time, but if I ever catch the four of you again near my bus, I'll tear you apart! Do you understand?"
"Yes, madam." Fauna and Flora answered.
"You don't scare us," Merryweather snapped, glaring at Shirley.
"Thank you and good day, madam." Flora quickly interrupts and gave Merryweather a sharp look, before Shirley could say anything.
"Come, Philip dear." Fauna said to Philip.
"May I suggest we seek elsewhere for Aurora?" Flora suggests.
Meanwhile, in the costume room at Circus, Circus; Vanessa is working on putting together ensembles for the circus performers with her friend and co-worker Amber. Vanessa's occupation is a stylist.
Her phone chimes. Glancing at it, the brunette sees another text message from Jack, begging her for forgiveness. She sighs, still mad about what transpired this morning, with Jack and Aurora.
"Jack again?" Amber asks.
"Another text message apology." Vanessa informed bluntly.
"How many does that make?" Amber questioned.
"I'm not sure exactly. But I'm pretty sure it's not enough." Vanessa replied.
"So, what are you saying?" Amber asked. "You're never gonna forgive him?"
"Oh, I'm sure I will at some point." Vanessa answers. "I mean…it's not like I'm one of those women you know, who sit around their entire lives waiting for some perfect prince in shining armor to come take me off to his castle; in the Hamptons. I got over that fantasy a long time ago."
"You know what I think?" Amber asked.
"Is that a multiple-choice question?" Vanessa asks sarcastically.
"I think you're a hopeless romantic who's discovered that romance is hopeless." The red head commented.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" Vanessa retorts. Amber walks away.
A/N: Okay, this chapter was somewhat shorter.
I decided to include this scene inspired by the deleted scene from the original Enchanted movie, where Nancy tells her friend that she's not waiting around for a prince. Apparently, that scene was cut because it slowed down the movie. I believe that scene should have stayed, because we get insight into Nancy's character and we see why she ends up with Edward.
Diaval's face claim is Sam Riley from the Maleficent movies. The face claim for Amber, Vanessa's friend is Danielle Panabaker (Sky High, Yours, Mine & Ours, Read It & Weep, Stuck in the Suburbs).
A little Enchanted movie trivia:
James Marsden who played Edward, really rode that bus. The bus driver's hairstyle has a hidden Mickey. If you look closely during the scene where Edward's riding the bus, you can see a poster for Hairspray. James Marsden starred in the film version of Hairspray as Corny Collins, the same year Enchanted came out. Another poster that could be spotted is Superman Returns, in which Amy Adams would play Lois Lane in a future Superman film.
Anyways, up next Aurora performs with the clowns singing Happy Working Song. Afterwards, Jack takes Aurora to see Sam, so that he can try to get her home. I will be including that fish gag. It's gonna be a long chapter…now the only difference between Happy Working Song in this version of the story is that Aurora is not cleaning up an apartment with animals. Also, the lyrics will be tweaked a bit slightly. You'll see what I mean.
See you next time, bye for now!
