Snape continued patrolling. He feels indifferent regarding Potter. He was disgusted to find out he was Potter's favorite teacher. What did he do to deserve this? At least Lilly may be happy, as she watches down on him.
Snape wasn't oblivious to the odd things surrounding Hagrid, he insisted on bringing Harry to Hogwarts himself when he learned Snape would be retrieving the child. He's been put out with Snape due to it, along with Quirrell ever since. He decided to keep Potter and Hagrid away from each other as much as possible, but Hagrid invited him to tea. What kind of staff does that? Even Minerva wouldn't invite a student to tea. He did make hot chocolate for students who studied in his study club. He didn't really supervise that club, perfects did that. That one was just for his Slytherins as it took place in their common room. It kept students calm in the late afternoons, when they spent some of the day studying. And it also made his house get better grades, which is why he required participation to three times a week. Snape opted to watch them. Harry didn't know it, but he has been keeping an extra eye on the boy. He doesn't truly know how much danger he is in. Not one, but two people are after him, if his gut is correct. Of course Dumbledore brushed it off when Snape told him about Hagrid's weird behavior. "I doubt wanting to get a celebrity is cause for concern Severus. And you shouldn't be reading Mr. Potter's letters." "Then teach the boy an anti curse spell. Many of his letters have been cursed this week alone! If it wasn't for Draco, he'd have his hand cut off." "I will do so. Tell H- Mr. Potter, an investment in an owl may be wise." "He already has a snake." "Yes, I will see how the staff feels about making an exception." "Ask Mr. Potter if he wants an owl first. Then I'll take him. He's been squinting at the board, he needs his eyes checked." "Yes, staff has informed me he places his papers and books close to him, and I observed he does so with letters too. I'll let Hagrid take him this time around. He may feel better." Snape's lip curled. "You are wrong about Hagrid, Severus." Snape knew when something was off, and he wouldn't be surprised if Harry ended up with the most obvious owl in existence. He just hoped the staff would agree with his no on the owl. He knew Minerva and Flitwick wouldn't, so he hoped Pomona agreed with his no so he could hit a stalemate, but it was unlikely.
After Snape tiredly came to breakfast. He yawned and grabbed a biscuit, downing a pepper up potion. These dunderheads didn't realize how much a staff remember had to do. There is no spell that lets you be in two places at once. And Snape did take his job seriously.
He went to set up his club. The staff informed their houses that this club was going on. Potter, Thompsan, Both Praxises, and Malfoy entered. Granger, and the Weasley twins, and Weasley Percy, and Ropher all were the only Gryffindors to show. Many other Ravenclaws showed up. Zabini followed Moon to the club. "Snape doesn't like me." "He doesn't bite." "He is strictest on me. He even treats Neville-" "Longbottom." Zabini corrected. "Longbottom. Why did you want me to go natural? He treats me even worse when I do." Snape didn't realize. He was put out to have a muggle born in his house, that is extremely rare for a reason. She also looked like Lilly. He was happy when he learned she was a metamorphmagus and changed to a plain look, instead of her natural red hair, and emerald green eyes. She even had Lilly's ambition. Now, she was going natural. Snape resolved to ignore her, Zabini liked her, and he knows what happens to people who cross him. His mother is a career criminal, everyone knows it, but evidence is never left behind. Snape sighed, no Hufflepuffs.
Everyone sat down, "Welcome to Wandless Magic. First, before we start silly hand waving, you must know why this is required. What History of Magic doesn't teach well is the history of witch hunts.
I would say this is to protect muggleborns, but avoiding teaching this important subject hurts us all in the long run. In the past we were victims of witch hunts. At first many witches and wizards were not captured. Unfortunate muggles tended to bare the blame for our accidental magic.
Metamorphagus exist however, so do parselmouths." Harry hid his head under his arms when the class looked at him, failing to notice they were also looking at Lilly. "And when young, they tend to do accidental magic more often. Especially those with an affinity for wandless magic. Mr. Potter, how many times did you do accidental magic as a kid?" "Accidental, too many to count, sir." "Mr. Potter is a parselmouth and has an inclination to wandless magic, so he is more likely to have accidental magic for a while. Many of you will not have accidental magic issues after this year. While I would say Potter's wouldn't calm down until 15 if he's lucky." Snape looked at the Weasley twins, "Mr. Weasleys, Fred and George, can you demonstrate what I say, please." They both went towards the front. "So when someone changed appearance by accident, or spoke to a snake, what happens Mr. Weasleys."
"You're a witch!" Fred yelled before tackling George. "Burn him at the stake." "Thank you, Mr. Weasleys. That is what happens. And in this case, George is a witch. George is old enough to know the flaming freeze charm, but what about a minor child?" Granger rose her hand, "Sir, isn't this painting muggles as savages." "Ms. Granger, this is not a required class. To participate you have to accept that there are muggles who do bad things. Not all muggles are good. We are in hiding for a reason. Now, do you have an answer to my question." "They don't know the spell, sir." "Exactly, and muggleborn get caught up in this too. Many real witches and wizards died due to this. Also, if you didn't have your wand, you died too. Burning wasn't used every time. Wizards with younger kids were at extra risk. They can't control their magic that young. That is why we wait until 11. No one under 11 can usually control their magic. Granger, Moon and Potter are rare exceptions. Yes, we monitor that. Most will never exert enough control to do the intended spell or potion. And I worry about any minor wizard doing a potion. Now, Mr. Weasleys, I want you to levitate my pencil, together. No wand. The witch hunters took your wand."
George and Fred barely caused the pencil to slightly levitate. "That is good for your first time. Notice how they are concentrating on the pencil, not each other. One by one, I'll have you all try to levitate a pencil. Mr. Potter, you will help me guide the students instead, as you can already do this."
After an exhausting club, Hagrid was waiting for Harry. "Remember his glasses, Hagrid." Snape commanded. The staff were willing to let Harry have an owl. Snape was annoyed by this revelation.
Hagrid took Harry to Diagon Alley. "We can get tea later." "Of course, sir." "Don't call me sir, Harry. Makes me feel old." "Okay." Harry kept Snape's words in mind, as they walked to the eye doctor. "Mr. Potter, Albus informed me you would be here. It was noticed you can't see the board or work." "I can see fine, ma'am." "You just don't know what good vision is like." Harry was pushed to a chair. "Tell me what you see, dear." Shapes and creatures, with letters filled the air. "Oh my!" The doctor gasped. "The boy has very bad vision. Dear, you'll never have perfect vision without magic. But I can do some surgery to fix it over time, and get you glasses until then."
"It's a big decision, can I discuss it with Madam Pomfrey and Professor Snape first?" "Of course, dear. I can call Severus here right now, if you wish." Harry thought he could see Hagrid scrunch up his face. "Yes, ma'am."
Snape had a call to help Potter with an issue. The boy wanted his advice. Why couldn't Potter just hate him like a normal boy? He still didn't know how he felt about having Potter's complete trust. He exited the floo at the eye doctors. "Yes." "Sir, my vision can't be fixed with glasses." "Yes, Mr. Potter would need surgery to get his eyesight up to par. And glasses can do minor corrections in that time." "I will discuss it with staff. Mr. Potter, you did the right thing by informing a professor. Grab some glasses." Snape and Hagrid glared at each other while Potter grabbed some blue glasses that shined in the sunlight. "What about these?" "I'll pay for it." "They'll be done in a week." Snape flood back to Hogwarts.
"How would you feel about an owl, Harry?" "I already have a snake." "I've heard. It follows you everywhere. I know you can speak to them too." "Yep. I love my snake." "You better." Harry heard. "It took a lot of work." "I bet it did." Harry ignored the people staring at him. It was old news, that he is a parselmouth, and people needed to get over it. "Dumbledore said he'd make an exception, as you get plenty of letters." "Fan letters. Draco is teaching me how to tell if something is cursed." "Good thing too. An owl that can tell then." Harry walked towards a normal looking barn owl. "What about that one Harry. This one is boring." Harry looked at the white owl. "Sir, I'm a celebrity." "That is why the owl needs to be recognizable, in case you're in trouble." Harry had a gut feeling that something was wrong. He weighed his options and decided to keep the peace, "Yeah, don't want anyone claiming to be me." Hagrid rubbed his hair. "That's why you're in Ravenclaw."
After they got back, Harry put his owl in the owlery, before going with Moon and Malfoy to Hagrid's. Praxis and Thompsan were busy. Hagrid enjoyed his tea. Harry didn't eat the rockcake, claiming he was still full from breakfast. "Truth be told, I don't like muggles myself." Harry didn't miss the look towards Lilly. "I don't like how they think they're better than us. We shouldn't have to hide to avoid them pestering us." The now trio nodded.
Around curfew a knock was on the door. Hagrid answered it. "Severus." "I wish to retrieve my Slytherins from your extra long tea session. Mr. Potter, you too. It is almost curfew." Snape wasn't unaware of the fact the kids were stumbling. He wandlessly closed Hagrid's door after he had the trio. Snape sighed, placing Potter on his back, "Hang on, before grabbing Moon and Malfoy on opposite sides of his arms before apparating to Madam Pomfrey's, before fainting. Luckily, Madam Pomfrey caught Potter.
She put each kid on a bed, and Severus on another bed. She figured Snape's fainting was due to overexerting his magic. You were never supposed to apparate with three people. One was already pushing it. Though, she saw why Snape did it. The kids' eyes were glossed over, and they were acting as if they were drunk.
She did a diagnosis charm over Potter first, as he was the smallest, so at most risk. "Suggestion Potion." She had an inkling and did a charm over the other two, to get the same results. "The only cure is to let it wear off. It takes a week. She mused." How was she supposed to keep the kids away from any suggestion for that amount of time?
She mused on it as she revived Snape, and forced him to drink a pepper up potion, before she cured his concussion. "What happened to the kids?" Was the first thing out of his mouth. "Suggestion Potion." "Hmm." Snape knew no one would believe Hagrid would make a potion like that. He was expelled second year. Snape knew a frame job when he saw one. "It's a wonder how they got that." Snape griped. Blaming Hagrid, true or not wouldn't work. Snape was marked, and Hagrid could point out Snape made the potions the school needed. What's stopping a few extra? "I'm glad you caught it, Severus. They will have to have a reversed silencing charm around them for a week, or they would take any suggestion. "Do whatever helps them. I'll have them make up work when they are well." "Severus." Madam Pomfrey lectured when he went to get up, "You fainted. I know you work hard, and value your work. You need to rest." "You won't let me leave, will you?" "Not a chance." "Fine." Snape laid on the bed. "Not until I know you are well. I'll inform Dumbledore that your House needs him to be there for them tonight."
Dumbledore found that turn of events weird. He had no doubt Severus wouldn't harm Harry. The most he would do is be disgusted by being his favorite teacher. Harry was with Hagrid all day, Lilly, and Draco were at school all day. When did they all get together? They went to Hagrid together, but Hagrid wouldn't hurt an fly. He trusted Hagrid with his life, and surely Snape would say something if he thought it was Hagrid.
He thought about this turn of events in Snape's office. He supposed a contamination charm could be an emergency charm added to the curriculum. He didn't want this to happen again, what if Severus wasn't at the right place, at the right time. It had to be a snack from Harry's letters. They shared those. Harry gave it to them yesterday while the other three were in the Slytherin common room studying potions. He knew where they were because Severus complained that Ravenclaw was infiltrating Slytherin headquarters. It was in jest as he did allow the Ravenclaws in there after an interrogation. Yeah, it had to be from Harry's fanmail. A missed harm by Draco, maybe. That's a shame. He was so glad Severus noticed there was an issue. That could've gone badly. Dumbledore sighed a breath of relief.
