Nick and Judy's wedding anniversary was approaching once again and Nick wanted to do something special for Judy. They had been together for a few years now. On that same date, they always did something special, be it a dinner, a picnic, but they always did something. During all these years together, Nick had never considered that he could deserve someone like Judy, so cheerful, caring, companion and friend. But it happened. Now it's been a few years since they decided to have a shared life, living in the same house, working in the same place, even if at different hours.
One day when Judy went to work at night, Nick was alone at home and decided it would be the best time to write something special for Judy. He wanted to tell her how special she is to him. But he didn't know how to express those feelings. After a few minutes of thinking and having a hard time on how to start, he started writing what would be a heartfelt text and the most sincere of all.
"If you only knew what you mean to me, Judy. In all my life, I never believed I would meet anyone. As a lonely fox, being in a relationship was one of the last I believed could happen to me, until you came into my life. You were the first to see me beyond a simple fox. The other animals have come to trust me, because you were the first to do so. When I thought our adventure together would end and I would never see you, you invited me to join the corporation, showing me that I can be useful. We became great friends for a while, but I already felt more than that. It wasn't normal to think about you all the time and neither was the worry I had every time you worked alone. And luckily, you felt the same way. And now we've been together for a few years. The happiness I have in waking up every day and seeing you by my side is priceless. Everything I have now I owe you."
Nick got emotional writing this text and only later realized it was late at night. He hid the paper in a folder on his nightstand and went to sleep.
At dawn the next day, Judy got home early and saw that Nick was still sleeping. She approached him and placed a soft kiss on his cheek and he gave a small smile. Judy left the room to take a shower.
"If she only knew…" Nick thought, smiling.
