"To save a life you have to forsake another," Kiritsugu said, staring down at little Shirou with dull eyes yet to the young boy, they were full of sorrow and regret.
The Ex-Assassin turned his gaze away from Shirou into the bright full moon, "I've done my best to save everyone. To become a Hero of Justice but I've come to learn that you cannot save everyone." He turned back to his adopted son, eyes glistening with small tears.
Shirou was stunned seeing Kiritsugu crying while telling him that becoming a Hero of Justice like him would not work out. Yet clenching his fists, he didn't care if it worked out. He only wanted to smile the way Kiritsugu did when saving him and feel how happy his adopted father felt at that moment.
"Then I'll simply try harder to save everyone. I'll carry your dreams…Your hopes and transform them into salvation."
Kiritsugu had long wiped the tears from his eyes, and when he heard what his son said, a little chuckle came. "Shirou…I don't need salvation….I've found my salvation in the form of you Shirou."
Shirou was breathtaking when he saw Kiritsugu smile, it was the same as when he had saved him. "I've saved you Shirou, and in return, you've saved me as well…Don't become a Hero of Justice, become a Hero to the people you love…" He heard his dad say.
"I promise that you'll be able to smile the same way I do when you find those people Shirou."
A couple of months later, little Shirou would be staring at a coffin holding his father's dead body. It would be rough for him to live for years but those words that Kiritsugu had said sitting with him on the porch in the full moon would resound in Shirou's mind forever.
Shirou's eyes fluttered open and he brought his body off his bed. 'That same dream again..' Ever since arriving in his new world, it has been regularly occurring. He began his routine which was exercise, showering, and finally breakfast.
He began his body conditioning which consisted of first of all warming up his body to make sure he didn't injure his body before moving on to his intense training. It involved mainly physical activity such as push-ups, sit-ups, etc. After some time he moved on to the more important skillful aspect, weapons mastery.
In the small free room in his home, where he exercises was a rack of weapons. There were spears, swords, daggers, and more in different shapes/forms. Kiritsugu had done a bit of digging into his past and he discovered that he was a descendent of Senji Muramasa.
His adopted father tried incorporating a new interest into his being to distract him from Magecraft. It had worked at first, but it soon evolved to incorporate Magecraft via forging "Magical Swords." Kiritsugu's plan had backfired, and with how unsuccessful it was, he simply gave up and chose to teach him Magecraft.
Shirou at first thought it was a pity that his adopted Father wasn't very good at Magecraft, only knowing the basic spells like Reinforcement, Structural Grasp, etc. Nonetheless, he learned that he was a Specialist, both his Element and Origin being "Sword" meaning most spells would be out of his reach.
It was even weirder when his eyes turned Silver after a few months of Forging, and an unexplainable urge that evolved into a goal of creating the Ultimate Sword. Kiritsugu theorized that he must have taken the destiny of his ancestor. Furthermore, he transfused Mystic Eyes: Glam Sight using a favor to "help" achieve his fate. How he did was a story for later.
He began practicing with these weapons making sure to keep his "Mastery" polished, whether it was thrusting with a spear, swinging with a sword, or jabbing quickly with a dagger. He kept up with this training for two hours until finally, he decided that it was enough polishing.
After a 10-minute shower to remove all the sweat that he built up, Shirou made himself Tamago Gohan, a healthy mixture of carbs and protein with some coffee.
Finishing his breakfast, Shirou headed for a nearby Bullhead station however not before grabbing a long sword from the rack of weapons in case of an accident. The sword had the concept of Anti-Monster engraved onto it. Sure he could simply trace a weapon but he liked using the weapons he forged.
The journey through the Bullhead was in his opinion boring, although there were great views, these views had turned dull after the few months he had been here. After he landed in Beacon, he made his way toward the headmaster's office for an interview for the position of Chef in their canteen.
While walking a smile appeared on his face thinking of the potential pay that he would receive. It was high to the point where Rin would be jealous, and with this increased pay he could experiment with the many forms of Dust in his forging.
*Ding*
The elevator doors opened revealing the headmaster sitting in his office chair with a coffee in hand. This was to be expected but what he did not expect to see was Glynda Goodwitch, a renowned Huntress and renowned teacher.
Ozpin was about to greet the newest person vying for the position but no words came out of his mouth, he stared directly at the Mythical Silver Eyes that he had rarely seen before. Glynda had glanced at him as well when she noticed but he wasn't focussed on that. Thoughts ran through his mind, 'This Shirou and Ruby both have Silver Eyes if I could…No, I can't do that… for the sake of victory…'
A cough coming from Glynda interrupted his line of thoughts before he gestured for Shirou, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Emiya. Please sit down and care for some Coffee?" A smile came when offering.
"Thank you for the offer but I've already had some for breakfast," Shirou said declining the offer from the headmaster.
It seemed that Ozpin wanted to further convince Shirou to have some but Glynda stopped it from happening. "Moving on, Mr. Emiya. You are here for one of the Chef positions?" Receiving a nod from him she continued. "What are your qualifications?"
The employers nodded indicating that they'd seen the reports. "Why did you choose to apply here?" Ozpin questioned, "After all this is a school for Huntsmen in training, not a fancy restaurant."
"I can understand what you mean, but the reason why I don't apply to work at a fancy restaurant was that I cannot handle the regulations and rules you have to follow to appease those with money. Also, the pay here is great so I decided why not."
Ozpin took a sip of his coffee gazing straight at eyes of Shirou, "You should be around 17 ish right now, so why did you decide not to become a Huntsman like the usual teenager but rather pursue cooking?"
A small frown came onto Shirou's face, he didn't understand why this was included in the questionnaire that they were doing. It seemed that Ozpin noticed as he further included, "This question is to merely sedate my curiosity but you do not have to answer if you don't wish to."
Shirou sighed before looking at his hands, "I thought about it, and although a huge part of me wants to help everyone…I just don't have the heart of a Huntsman. I've learned that first hand so I decided to pursue my passion."
Although he could not see it, Glynda had been able to read through the lines and she gave him a sympathetic gaze. "Not everyone has the mentality to become a Huntsman…and it isn't a cowardly way of feeling…It's something that isn't simply changed."
'Saber…Forgive me…' Thoughts were running through his mind, especially the moment when he had to stab a dear friend of his who had constantly saved him.
"I'm sorry for potentially bringing up some bad memories, but I'll be frank, you are a very good match for the position." Opzin stated watching his potential employee turn his stare at him, "However a test needs to be done to ensure that you have the qualifications."
Shirou repressed the bad memories in his mind telling himself to focus on the present. "A test?" He questioned.
"Yes, today the newest batch of students will arrive at Beacon for their Initiation Test tomorrow, it will be your duty to cook a batch of food for them. If you can serve them well then you will be accepted." Ozpin proposed with a small smile on his face.
Shirou had to admit that the test made sense, after all, he couldn't cook something for Ozpin and Glynda as they wouldn't be the main population eating his food. "I accept this test." He answered resolved to pass.
They made a bit more small talk speaking about some of his thoughts for the future before he was beckoned to leave.
Glynda watched the elevator doors shut before looking at Ozpin with a confused expression, "Why did you accept him for this potential position, I thought we were going to interview everyone before placing the ones we thought were a match into a test."
A small chuckle came from Ozpin before he spoke in a serious expression. "You should know that changes come by the fly, but you may be thinking that I chose him due to his desolate experience with loss." He saw her nod, "Then you're incorrect, the reason I chose him was because I felt something akin to Magic but at the same time different. It was difficult to sense but it was there."
Glynda's eyes widened in shock when she heard what Ozpin stated, It was a huge revelation to her as the only people capable of Magic itself were around 6 people excluding the Shapeshifting granted to the Bran Twins.
"Could it be due to his-" "No it wasn't because of his Silver Eyes, it was something else."
"By letting him work here, we can keep an eye on him…and keep him safe," Ozpin stated with a long gaze as if thinking of something. 'Can you be the missing piece for victory?'
Shirou watched in slight amazement as the new batch of students left the Bullhead, he was amazed by the weapons they had, instinctively his silver eyes grasped all the details of them.
Unsurprisingly they all had mecha-shifts into guns which were the norm of the world but this brought great joy to Shirou as this unusual type of weapon was something that he would love to create. One of the weapons that caused him to furrow his brow was a sword that transformed into a sword.
It was questionable how that specific student was going to use that mecha-shift weapon but still, it had its novelty?
He had been so distracted by the weapons around him that someone bumped into him causing them to fall on the ground with a poof.
Shirou turned towards the person who fell on the ground and was surprised to see a young-looking girl. She was pale-skinned with neck-length black hair that had red tips but what was more interesting was what she was wearing. It was a long-sleeved blouse with red high-collar trims on the sleeves, black boots, and most importantly a red cape that was held by the shoulders.
Overall she complimented what he heard was called the gothic theme but who was he to judge? He gave a hand out to the girl to help her up which she hastily accepted with a red face.
"I'm so sorry for bumping into you! I was so distracted looking at the weapons everyone had!" The girl said moving her hands around erratically, obviously nervous and embarrassed.
A soft smile grew on Shirou who placated her, "It's okay, I understand how you feel. I was also distracted by them as well."
The embarrassment seemingly was gone from the girl and her eyes shook with excitement before she began to revolve around him. "You like them as well! Oh my gosh, that's amazing! I finally found someone who loves them as much as I do!" She grabbed his arms, "Which types are your favorites?! Please tell me…Oh wait sorry I haven't introduced myself."
"I'm Ruby Rose, what's your name?" A huge grin adorned her face when she introduced herself.
"Shirou Muramasa Emiya." He responded in tow.
Ruby clocked her head in surprise hearing his name, and he knew exactly why, it was because he had multiple surnames and his name didn't follow the color scheme.
"Hey! I just realized you have the same eye color as I do!" She followed up granting her a raised eyebrow from Shirou who simply nodded in confusion. "It's just I've never seen someone with silver eyes aside from me." She tried explaining.
A few seconds go by Ruby welded with nervousness before she finally decided to take initiative. "Do you want to see my weapon?" She didn't give him a chance to answer and brought Crescent Rose before releasing it to make the awkward setting disappear.
Shirou watched in astonishment as the blackish box that Ruby had in her hands turned into a high-caliber scythe sniper. He watched her gain a somewhat smug expression when she saw his reaction and inside she was glad that this strategy worked.
"A high-caliber scythe sniper? Did you build it on your own?" He questioned her.
A smile appeared on Ruby's face, "That's right. I designed and created this baby. It took a lot of time but in the end, it was worth it, a weapon of my own."
Shirou nodded knowing exactly how she felt, "I know that feeling too, owning a weapon created by yourself." A glee look appeared on Ruby, "Yes, I've also forged a weapon of my own."
She immediately "commanded" him to show her his weapon which he did, removing the longsword from the stealth and he watched her practically steal it off him.
He stared as Ruby examined every nook and cranny of the longsword giving out "It's beautiful" comment causing him to feel slightly bashful hearing someone complimenting his creation. It was quite a while since someone complimented his work.
He wasn't sure how to answer her question because these words were the engraved concept of "Anti-Monster." He couldn't exactly just be truthful, it was too risky to spread the word of concepts, so he just decided to lie. "It's a decoration, usually The weapons I make have no decoration so I tried something different."
The explanation seemed to be enough for Ruby but she practically got into his personal space when she heard he had more weapons he created. "You are officially the coolest person I know! Can I see all the weapons you've made?!"
"Too close.."
Ruby realized what he meant and immediately backtracked a step or two, her ears going red before she mouthed a sorry.
Shirou shook his head, "I wasn't offended or anything, but to answer your question. The other weapons I have are at home." He watched her face fall slightly, "Though I could bring them in when I have the chance." Her face immediately lit up.
He noticed that everyone around him had dispersed seemingly into the amphitheater for the Opening Ceremony and Speech that Ozpin would do. "Hey, Ruby you should probably leave for the gym…."
Ruby glanced around and saw that no one was there anymore, "Oh crap-sickles, we have to go Shirou!" She grabbed his shoulder and tried dragging him but couldn't.
"Haha, I hate to break it to you Ruby but I'm not a student, I'm a future Chef of this academy," Shirou explained while scratching his head. Well, it isn't confirmed but with his skill…He wasn't being cocky but rather confident in his cooking skills.
"Oh, I see! Then I will get to see you in the canteen!" Ruby said with a smile, "Ah crap, I've got to go seriously, bye Shirou!" She waved and when he waved back, she sped off with her Semblance leaving red roses behind.
Shirou gazed at the red roses as they disappeared and looked back in the direction that she ran towards, the complete opposite of the auditorium. 'I think she'll eventually get there.' He shrugged, although he wanted to help, he couldn't catch up running at human speed.
Ruby wished she could hide in a hole the next time she met Shirou. It was embarrassing that she had gone in the opposite direction from where she needed to be. Still, a good thing was that she met Jaune from her bad luck even if he was an unofficial friend.
When she finally entered the amphitheater, she found Yang almost instantaneous. Ruby walked up next to her, before questioning pitifully. "Why did you leave me behind?"
When Yang saw her sister's pitiful expression, she couldn't help but regret her past action of leaving her behind to let her socialize for once. "My bad Rubes, I simply wanted you to find some new friends."
She saw her sister's face change slightly and a smirk appeared on her face. "It seems that you did manage to make a friend, so tell me who is it?"
Ruby glared at Yang feeling glee at the fact that leaving her alone had been worth it. However, the mere thought of him made her feel excited. "His name was Shirou, and he had auburn hair. He is practically the coolest guy, he loves weapons and can forge them as well!"
A small chuckle came from Yang, "Seems like your perfect guy eh?" She slightly teased and chuckled harder as her sister's face turned red.
Ruby was about to retort but thought about it for a few seconds. 'Well, he does love weapons like I do… He also is very nice….' Her face burned even harder when she noticed Yang struggling not to laugh and more so the fact that she was agreeing. "Sushhhh…Yang."
She was about to further remark but was interrupted by Ozpin beginning his speech.
"I'll...keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge-to hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people." Ozpin began to glance around the amphitheater making everyone stand a bit straighter to stand out.
"But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose – direction." Ruby began sweating slightly as she saw that the headmaster's gaze was on her for a long time, not that anyone else noticed before he looked away.
She sighed inwardly trying to calm her running heart. 'This is wayyyy too much pressure for me.' She felt that Ozpin was going to have extra attention on her due to being a "genius" and entering Beacon two years earlier.
It is quite ironic the fact that Ruby's assumption was correct however it was for a completely different reason.
"You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step." With these last words, Ozpin headed off the stage before leaving.
Yang had a scrunched-up face. She felt that the speech was insulting to everyone. Also, she felt that the headmaster wasn't even here mentally.
"His speech was strange wasn't it Rubes?" She questioned her sister who simply looked at her in confusion. "Nevermind." She had forgotten that Ruby wasn't someone who would pick up on stuff like this.
"Everyone, you will be having dinner at the canteen before sleeping in the ballroom, Do not eat too much or sleep too little, this will affect your performance tomorrow!" Glynda spoke up giving some advice before gesturing for everyone to leave.
"Let's go, Yang!" Ruby grabbed onto her sister and used her Semblance to rocket towards the canteen? Well not really as she once more went in the wrong direction.
Shirou had been introduced to all the chefs in the canteen before beginning to work with a smile. The way they fed their students was buffet style where multiple foods would be on the counter and the chefs would serve it because there were a lot of students and not all of them liked the same foods so Beacon was gracious enough to supply them with dishes of many varieties.
He glanced around to see what the other chefs were making for the students to see what variety they were missing. He quickly noticed that they were missing fish. 'Guess I'll make some fish-related dishes.'
Shirou hummed to himself as he was grilling the tuna, 'I don't think they would appreciate raw fish..' From his experience, he knew that people did not enjoy raw food so he was going to cook them some grilled sushi, and unadon.
It took some time for him to cook these dishes still, but when he finished, he realized that he had a bit of time left so he decided to see if he could cook some Fried Teriyaki before the students arrived.
However, it seems that Shirou did not calculate the time correctly as the canteen doors burst open and a multitude of students came in, grabbing their favorite food before sprinting to the seats.
'Guess they were hungry from the flight here and the speech/ceremony.'
A glance caused him to feel happy as some of the students were selecting the food he cooked. However, he had yet to see Ruby giving him the thought that she probably got lost once more.
Shirou checked on the Fried Teriyaki seeing that it was ready, and he set it aside to cool slightly. He brought it up to the counter and stood towards it waiting for students to come up for some.
However, suddenly the doors blasted open with petals flying everything, A soft smile appeared on Shirou's face as he knew exactly who that was.
"Coming through!"
Ruby and the dragged Yang had gone through multiple people before finally arriving at the counter, specifically where Shirou was.
"HEY, Shirou!" She greeted smiling towards him, "What have you cooked for us?"
Yang raised her brow once she heard the name, She thought that Ruby made friends with a fellow student rather than a chef but he was a similar age and didn't look half bad if you don't consider his slight shortness.
Shirou on the other hand simply answered the question unaware of the glances Yang was giving him. "Well I made fish-related dishes but they've been finished, however, I did make some Teriyaki Fried Chicken." He pointed at the semi-golden fried chicken.
Ruby immediately told him that she wanted some, to which he simply served it to her. Yang asked for the same but for a different reason. 'Let's see how well he cooks..'
They both sat down before beginning to eat Shirou's dish, "This…This is amazing!" Ruby said happily to which Yang simply nodded to continue eating.
It didn't take long for them to finish their food, and Ruby gave an awkward chuckle when she saw Yang glancing at her with a fake glare.
"I thought you made a friend with a fellow student, not with a staff member?"
Ruby scratched her head before shrugging. "What difference does that make?"
Yang sarcastically said, "Well it's not like he can join your team and become your future team member or partner…Now can he?"
The younger sister blinked her eyes before realizing what Yang's words meant. "Pff, you can simply be my teammate! Right?" She twiddled her fingers feeling insecure.
"Right Right!" The older sister said when she saw her little sister feeling insecure all of the second. "Well, he still does seem to be your perfect guy right? He can even cook well!" She said changing the topic which worked.
"UGH! YANGG!"
Everyone was in the ballroom sleeping, well everyone except Ruby.
She couldn't sleep due to how nervous she was currently feeling that tomorrow would decide her fate whether she could stay in Beacon but more importantly her partner/team would be decided.
'What if they're mean to me?'
'What if we don't get along together?'
'What if they think I'm weird?'
'Can I handle being in a team with strangers.'
Many negative thoughts were coming to Ruby, and her heartbeat quickened in response to the thoughts. She turned to her right side to see if Yang was awake to comfort her but sadly the latter was slumped.
The thought of Yang possibly not being a part of her team crushed her, Ruby already felt that she wasn't good enough to skip two years, more so she feared that her teammates may think of her as a child due to the age gap.
Ruby got out of her makeshift bed and left the ballroom in secret to get some fresh air to clear her mind. Along her walk, she found someone sitting on a bench, Looking even closer she saw that it was Shirou.
A light of hope pierced through her chest. 'Perhaps, he can help me with how I feel right now…'
It was night and Shirou was on a bench studying a dagger that had the properties of storing energy before releasing it at the command of the user in the form of a beam. He wondered if someone with Aura could conduct it.
Earlier in the day, Ozpin had confirmed that he had gotten the position which didn't require much effort. Nonetheless, the pay increase was very good as now he could experiment with Dust in his blacksmithing
"What are you doing up so late?"
Shirou turned around and saw Ruby in her pajamas walking towards him. He waited for her to sit next to him on the bench before he answered. "I'm thinking, more importantly, what are you doing so late?" He questioned back.
She looked around nervously before glancing at her hands, "I'm just nervous and needed time to think."
He gazed at her with his silver eyes with concern. "What do you need to think about? I can help you sort out your thoughts."
"I'm just scared of not being good enough for my teammates because I skipped two school years."
Shirou had thought that Ruby seemed younger than the others and this was the reason why. "Well, you must have done something to skip those years right?" He questioned trying to give her confidence through her achievements.
Ruby gazed at him before saying with uncertainty. "Well I did beat up Roman Torchwick and his grunts but he managed to escape…So, I don't think that is good enough to skip years."
A small laugh came from Shirou, "How is that good enough? You beat an underground criminal that has experience comparable to Huntsman, so how is that not good enough?"
"What if he was going easy on me?"
He shrugged before scratching his head, "Well who knows, he could have but does that matter? The important thing is that you almost caught him. That in itself makes you at least somewhat…" He specified the word most minor. "Worthy to join Beacon."
A small smile appeared on Ruby, "That's true! Not even Huntsman was able to catch him! Me being able to almost catch him says something." Her confidence came back albeit a small amount.
"Exactlyyy." Shirou said with a smile.
A few seconds pass by and Ruby realizes that Shirou has been doing something as she watches him look at a dagger with a serious face.
"You must have been busy, Sorry for intruding…" She said, to which she received a shake of the head from Shirou. "Nothing is more important than your feelings." Her face turned red as she heard this come from him.
A bit more awkward time passed until he said something to stop the awkward atmosphere. "Say, can you help me with something Ruby?" Shirou asked her looking straight at her eyes.
"I can!"
He couldn't help but smile at how excited she was at helping him, "You see this dagger, Ruby. It's something I've been experimenting with. It has the properties of storing Aura, converting it into energy then releasing it in the form of a beam. Could you apply your Aura to it?" He displayed the dagger to her.
She took the dagger inspected it and gave compliments to it, once more filling Shirou up with a bashful feeling. When she finished alluring it she nodded. "I heard of armor and weapons that can conduct Aura was created but they had many flaws."
Ruby heard him say an uh-huh, and she stared at the dagger pushing her Aura into it, She was brimming with excitement wondering if it was going to conduct well. It was extraordinary to see that the dagger lit up with a red Aura however suddenly red electricity came erupting.
"Stop!" She heard him shout and immediately stopped before looking at him with bewilderment. "You put your Aura way too fast causing the dagger to "Break" and if you put more into it, it would probably explode." Ruby's body shook with slight fear towards the glowing dagger.
"It's fine, The dagger can still withstand the Aura you put in so you will be fine," Shirou said with a small smile. "Was it my fault that it broke?" He heard her question but he shook his head. "No it's fine, I designed it so it can take a certain amount of Aura. It's only because you have so much and can make it flow quickly that it broke."
Ruby smiled at the "compliment" that Shirou gave to her. "Sooo, what am I supposed to do now?" She asked him looking back at him for a few seconds before shifting her gaze to the lit-up dagger.
"It's simple, point at the sky and release the pent-up Aura from the dagger via a swing," Shirou instructed with a finger pointing at the sky-lit sky.
She did as instructed, pointing the dagger straight up before swinging it upward releasing a red crescent beam that went a few meters. "WHOA! IT WORKED!" Ruby was excited but soon looked shocked as she watched the dagger disintegrate into dust. "Ididn'tmeantobreakit!"
Shirou laughed when he saw her trying to explain herself, "It's okay Ruby, it isn't like I can another one. Look." He gestured into his empty hand, before whispering. "Trace. On."
His now empty hand had the same dagger once more, he saw Ruby trying to process what happened and once she did, she squealed with excitement. "Oh, my Oum! Your Sembalance creates weapons! That's amazing!"
A nod came from him and he gave her the dagger to inspect, She looked all over it before saying in disbelief, "It's the same."
Another dagger appeared in his hand and he gave the second dagger as well. "Tomorrow, the Initiation begins for you…..If you ever get the chance try the beam attack on the Grimm, will ya?" He wanted to know how effective it was on Grimm.
"You got it!" Ruby said with a gesture of hands that were still holding the two daggers.
"Hey, Shirou the stars are beautiful tonight aren't they?"
"They are Ruby, they are."
Both of them didn't say anything for a few seconds, enraptured by the moon. Although it was broken, it was still a marvelous beauty.
After a few seconds, they made a bit of small talk, and eventually, Shirou told Ruby to get some sleep for tomorrow which she complied. "Thank you Shirou…" She said with a smile before leaving. He watched her leave towards the ballroom.
He grabbed his heart which felt weird before a real smile appeared on his face. 'Is this what you meant Kiritsugu?'
That night, Ruby dreamed of a hero dressed in black and red saving her from a horde of Grimm wielding a Peerless Sword.
(Side Story: Kiritsugu's Present)
Kiritsugu watched as Shirou worked in the forge, It had been close to a year since he had adopted him yet his proficiency in the art of forging was astonishing.
He watched as Shirou hammered down the metal in the shape of a greatsword.
A sigh came out from him, he had checked how many Magical Circuits Shirou had, and it came out as above average, roughly 27 Circuits. They also seemed to be in above average condition which meant that he would have above average Od Output, still a wry smile came to him as this wasn't comparable to the true monsters like the Blue Bloods.
Time passed quickly and finally, Shirou presented him with a greatsword that was decently made. Although it wasn't a work of a master, it nonetheless was a great start for a beginner. "Look at this, doesn't it look great?!" Kiritsugu nodded granting him a smile from Shirou which dazzled like his silver eyes.
The adopted father grabbed a box from behind him, it was something he brought with him when he came to watch Shirou forge who was questioning what it was. "It's a birthday present for you."
Shirou grabbed the box and opened it, he was astonished to see that it was a glass bottle filled with liquid that had a pair of eyes.
"These are Mystic Eyes of Glam Sight. These can help you develop faster in both your Magecraft and Forging." Kiritsugu explained before a small smile appeared, "This will be my last gift Shirou." He knew his time was running up, the Curse of Angra Mainyu was decaying his body at a faster rate.
He noticed Shirou nod with an expressionless expression but Kiritsugu knew better, his silver eyes were full of grief. "Thank you, Dad…." A small smile appeared on Kiritsugu. 'That's the first time he called me Dad….It doesn't feel that bad…'
"Shirou, that's one of the best swords you've created…I think that it deserves a name. Do me a favor and call it Natalia…"
The small smile turned into a large one when Shirou nodded. 'You truly are my Salvation…'
AN: This is an AU Shirou obviously, though I will make sure to cement his past either through side stories, flashbacks, or exposition. I might change the scene where Shirou is cooking, I don't like it? Idk I have mixed feelings about it. Also obviously this is for Alex-Kellar Writing Contest, saw it and decided to throw my hat.
Please review suggestions~ and criticize my work, but please avoid flames. Reviewing gives me the motivation to keep on going. (Next Chapter in 1-2 weeks due to college.)
