DON'T GO YET -Camila Cabello
Nightmares- until I wake
After waking up from the sun beaming upon their thin blue tent, D'axon finds Z'eris cuddled up into a ball fast asleep facing opposite from him. His tail was tucked between his legs and his ears flat against his head. D'axon thought of him as cute, and adorable, noticing that he sleeps like a cat. The tank gets up slowly making sure to not wake him, slowly stripping off his armor and carrying his sword along with him just in case of any nearby monsters or enemies that could come across to them, D'axon heads towards a slow deep river which is perfect for bathing in. He strips off his top undergarment revealing his scarred and patched chest. He starts slowly removing the bandages Kurry had placed over him from the night before, sighing as he starts to miss her company. Looking around the area making sure there are no peeping toms, D'axon decides to undress his lower garments and open his container of soap to scrub his body clean.
Z'eris grunts feeling the sun start to hit his eyes, as soon as he realizes that there was no sight of D'axon as well as the tent was open. The Miqo'te shoots up quickly busting through the opening, fortunately seeing no traces of a battle, blood or corpses. He sighs in relief making sure to find at least his captain, scanning the area around him. While walking around for a while he hears water running and a bit of splashing around him, especially from behind the bushes. Z'eris gulps tightly grabbing ahold of his sword and busts into the gap between the assortment of bushes. When opening his eyes, he is met with a half-naked D'axon, however his lower half was covered by the dark river. A dark red blush appears quickly on his cheeks.
"Oh, good morning Z'eris. Care to join me? I have some extra soap, it's cedarwood scented if you don't mind". The oblivious D'axon chuckles, flexing his muscles trying to get the soap in between every cranny and nook of his formed biceps.
"N-no thank you…". Z'eris struggles to form a sentence while looking up and down, curious to know what is underneath but also too flustered to think. He looks at D'axon's slightly tanned body with a formed tight six-pack and toned collarbone, arms and v-line. Another plus was the fact that D'axon has a bit of a small thin line of a hare coursing down to his…. Z'eris shakes his head and continues to say what he was going to realizing he had paused for a while. "Thank you, sir! I'm going to head back to the camp!".
The chocolate-lilac haired boy runs back to the camp and sits down on a nearby log covering his face and remembering the flashbacks of what he had seen. D'axon had the body of a god, no wonder why Kurry loved him so much. His captain would never harbor the same feelings as he did, especially since Z'eris was for sure gay and D'axon was for sure a heterosexual male. "I can't show any more of my feelings, that was so uncalled for, especially since we work together. Mixing work and pleasure is for sure against society's rules". Z'eris calms himself down and starts packing up the tent and combing his hair. Before packing up he sighs, brewing himself up a sweet black milk tea thinking about his kitty Asteroid and hoping the next-door neighbor did what he promised by taking him in temporarily for emergencies until he comes back. Z'eris's neighbor was a sweet old woman who used to be a white mage but has retired for the past 20 years. She now gardens, bakes cookies and lives alone with her other 4 cats. She was the only one who knew and accepted his secret sexuality, the only person who could give him advice as herself was a widowed lesbian with a secret "roommate" back in the day.
D'axon arrives back in his uniform looking bright and happy, chuckling as his long wet red hair drips in front of his face, enjoying the hot desert sun and its drying capabilities.
"You should have joined me, it felt so nice. Hopefully next we will be in a hotel sometime and can actually sleep in a comfortable bed". He smiles seeing the area all neatly packed and items put away.
"What are you drinking?". D'axon eyes the small mug in Z'eris's hand designed with flowers and bees.
"This is a black milk tea, it's one of my favorites and helps to calm me down back at home. Would you like to try some?". The tiny and fragile cat boy looks down, blushing from the nickname holding his cup out towards him. "I would love to". D'axon picks up the mug gently from his grasp, slowly taking a small sip from his drink. "This is delicious! Would you make me one the next time you have a chance". D'axon exclaims loudly, giving him back the mug licking his lips from the sweet embrace of the drink.
"Well, shall we start heading out? I'll be by your side I promise." He gives Z'eris a stern but serious look to assert that his word is not fake and in fact will keep his promise. D'axon sticks his right pinky out with a smile along his lips chuckling. Z'eris blushes as well as a bright smile forming along his lips sticking out his pinkie finger out curling it around Daxon's and looking with his bright green eyes into his bright baby-blues. "I trust you".
The two-start heading out into Eastern Thanalan as both of the Miqo'tes go on about their past and previous experiences in life. D'axon mentioned about his first war and that more than half of his teammates had died. How he had met Kurry and they had fallen in love with owning a house together, as well as bringing up that they had recently talked about marriage. Z'eris brings up his life with his parents about how he was brought up in the middle class but went through a high-class private school, which caused him to constantly get picked on due to his height and weak body. Z'eris had grown up more in a clear and safer street in Gridania while D'axon was raised in a tough and scary area of U'ldah hearing fights go on every night. They start laughing about the similar snacks they ate throughout their childhood like Gladiator Orange juice, Marmot pizza rolls, and Hot Chocobo chips. D'axon talked about how he used to play with sticks like swords and Z'eris was more into making flower crowns with the neighborhood girls. D'axon liked hearing his small laugh and the innocent smile that laid upon his lips every time he talked about the good old days in his childhood. He loved how his eyes sparkled when talking about his favorite flower and the time he first ever tried Hot Chocobo Chips. Butterflies of unknown feelings were starting to cloud his stomach, feelings similar he had felt when meeting Kurry.
Kurry woke up stretching in her purple lavendar bed looking out her window seeing the ocean and the boats along the marina. She missed D'axon and him holding her throughout the night ensuring that she is safe and sound. She missed his early morning complaints before work about Poogie being a fatass as well as the beginner gladiators he has to soon teach. She misses showing off her dress that she had just bought and the smile that came across his face every time he saw her in it. As well as when he would grab her by the hand and spin her in a circle to see every detail of it. She misses the love of her life, her Paladin.
She had to face the day and walked out the sea that the family had left to discover Limsa Lominsa for the first time in their lives. She fed Poogie his pellets and refilled his water dish giving him a few pets. Out of the corner of her eye he sees the small purple baby blanket that D'axon had given him last Christmas along with homemade applesauce just for him to chow down on.
"It's okay Poogie he will be back I promise". She begins to dress up in a loose white dress with hemmed white lace along the sides up her sleeves. She had pinned small pink handmade fabric roses along to it and done her hair up in a ponytail with a small cherry blossom clip. "I'll be home soon Poogie, I'm going to do some food shopping for us. Be good". Kurry leaves the apartment towards a new adventure of soaring the beachside markets for some seafood, fruits and spices. Along with some pig food that she is sure her sweet boy would enjoy.
D'axon reaches for his sword as he hears sword slaying and spells being casted near them, as the sun shines so warm and brightly, the unfortunate downfall is that he can't see the colors of the spells being casted. "Z'eris stay back, we are about the enter battle. Be careful." Z'eris nods drawing out his sword as well seeing the enemies in the distance. "D'axon, I see them, they are located 3 km Northeast from us".
"How could you be so sure and able to pinpoint that exact area". D'axon raises one of his eyebrows looking at his partner.
"Just good eyesight y'know". Miqo'te smiles.
"Alright let's start heading there". The two begin to walk towards the Northeast direction of the area as Z'eris would guide him towards. However, before they could get there the enemies from another area South from them were hiding close in an ambush. The sounds were all a trick, the noises were all a trick and the spells casted were indeed all of a trick. The two were close together with each other back-to-back drawing their swords. D'axon bites his tongue watching more enemies surround them, not sure that the two of them could take them all.
"Z'eris we are in a tight pickle. We might not come out in such a great shape and I am still not seeing backup." D'axon takes a deep breath feeling the stress and upsetting emotions starting to overlap his partner.
The enemy chuckles laughing looking at the two of the cat-boys. "Oh, aren't you too cute, my my isn't it captain D'axon and his weakling of a DPS Z'eris". The shadow of a small Lalafell, a familiar one that goes by the name of Maple Nutt faces before them. The small little chocolate-lilac haired cat boy bites his lip realizing who these two people were and how much they had tormented him during the past year when they were along his team.
D'axon screamed out in an upset voice realizing that Maple wasn't just a regular old teammate of his that fought alongside him but instead was a traitor of his guild. "What the hell! So, you were a traitor all along, a spy?". He got frustrated drawing up his sword jumping towards the malicious Lalafell. "I can't believe you didn't know". Maple Nutt dodges the hit, sending out a quick spell along with shooting D'axon with a small arrow in the right shoulder.
The red-haired Miqo'te laughs, pulling the arrow immediately from his right shoulder, running again towards Maple. He nods his head ordering Z'eris to attack the weaker enemies along the side lines, seeing a scared look upon his eyes. D'axon throws his shield behind knocking out the same stupid Alfie in the head. As Maple opens back and draws his own sword clashing against his former captains. The two begin fighting head-to-head fighting each other, feeling metal poking and slicing creating more scars around his chest. "Funny you think that I'm just going to give up and funny that you would think that I would let you fool me again".
"You aren't going anywhere, and fooling you isn't the only thing I can take you down. You are messing with one of the strongest''. The Lalafell clashes once again back up on him stabbing a small dagger right through his right leg. The captain winces at the pain as his eyes begin turning to a dark blue and his evil ego begins to burst out. Z'eris is quickly finishing off the weaker enemies while focusing on D'axons health through the corner of his eyes, sighing as he begins using small spells he had learned from his childhood, ones that are unnoticeable to the human eye yet cause great damage. "I got you D'axon." He whispers, and carefully without being seen starts sending out small healing spells, only being able to do a small effect, but one that would keep him from dying.
