CHAPTER 36
Tom had just gotten off the train, these last few days had been very tiring, but he was in a hurry to get to Hope Valle, and scare away that Thatcher; now she would know the fury of the Thortons. He arrived at the hotel and asked for a room... He needed a few hours of rest and was approaching due diligence, it would only be the next morning. He asked for a table for a meal, he needed something with substance, as that food had shaken like Styrofoam. I didn't know Tom, that when he spoke his name to the receptionist, it caught someone's attention. Behind that pillar, someone was listening to his conversation with the hotel receptionist very attentively, and in his mind he was already forming a crazy plan. It would be cruel, but it would be a lot of fun, when this plan was put into action and Jack Thorton realized who was to blame for everything that was happening to Elizabeth.
After a nice bath, Tom sat at the table and when he was in the middle of his meal, a gentleman arrived, asking if he could join him.
-Tom Thornton? The man asked...
- Yes; Who do I have the honor of sharing my dinner with? Tom asked... His mind wondering where he knew this man from. If you knew him.
He was a young man, very attractive, blond hair, green eyes, very fair, hands like someone who had never worked, branded clothes, all starched, but there was something about him that made Tom suspicious...
-I'm Charles Kensington III, at your service...
-May I know how you know me?
-I don't know you, but I know the name Thorton; And from what I heard earlier you're in the same boat as me;
- As?
— You don't accept Elizabeth Thatcher with your brother, and I saw you talking to yourself and angry after entering the hotel, and in the same way I don't accept it either.
- Why? Who is she to you?
— She is my fiancée. My betrothed, And her brother approached her. And I won't allow that.
- Your bride. Is that woman engaged and with Jack?
Tom was furious. That woman was a wanton or true libertine woman. How could she have married Jack, being engaged to another man.
— I want your help, Tom. I'm going to Hope Valle and I'm going to get my bride, no one is going to take her from me. With or without Jack's permission, she will come with me.
— And you think my brother will allow it?
— He will have no choice. And Charles showed the gun in his waistband.
Tom still didn't like that man. He didn't want to hurt that woman, but since Charles was her fiance, he would protect her, and that way Tom would be able to get rid of her easily. Jack would indeed be heartbroken for a while, upon learning that his wife had abandoned him for her millionaire fiancé, but Tom would help him recover and find a good wife, like his friend and ex-fiancée Rose...
-Tom, I have a car in Hope Valle, but I will leave it there; That way, no one will suspect that I'm back. I've even rented another car here, and I'll be ready to leave in the evening, I want to pick her up as soon as she gets to school. Before the children even arrive for class.
— And how would we do that? Will you take good care of her?
Charles looked at Tom with a smile on his face, which he didn't like at all and heard the man saying:
— Of course I will... After all, I'm your fiancé. And if Jack doesn't show up in front of me, we'll get out of there, leaving no trace behind.
- Combined; I will help you at school. And only then would I go to my brother...
Tom went to get some sleep, they would leave at dawn. It might be something he didn't like, but it was a solution for everyone. Tom never touched a woman in a wrong way or that she didn't want to, and this man, being her fiancé, should be someone good, after all he was chosen by his family. Tom was sure that she was a spoiled woman, playing hard to get for her parents and fiancé, using her brother Jack as a shield in this mess. But she would come to her senses. She would see her fiancé and come to her senses and leave.
