Caitlin and Miguel waited patiently in the shop for EZ to arrive. She had been able while the others had been in a meeting to touch base with EZ and set up the meeting for later that evening when the dress shop was empty.

As planned EZ walked in through the back and met up with them. You could tell that he was nervous. It was one thing to find yourself in front of Miguel Galindo for Mayan business but an entirely different thing when you were meeting him because you had made a deal with the DEA and were providing vital information about his cartel.

"EZ," said Miguel, "thank you for coming."

EZ nodded and exchanged a quick glance with Caitlin. "Mr. Galindo, first of all I need you to know that I'm sorry."

"Look, even if I don't appreciate what you've done, I know it's a cut-throat world and we sometimes need to do things we don't always agree with to survive."

"I will do anything I can to get out of this mess."

"The less you intervene in what's to come the better it will be for you." Miguel turned and looked at Caitlin. "For both of you. When these men will go missing, you will be the first suspects and you'll be back at square one."

"What do we do?" asked Caitlin.

"You both need to get out of San Padre."

"I don't know how that will be possible without the MC asking questions," said EZ.

Miguel looked at Caitlin. "I'm sending you to Casa Uxmal and as I need to stay here and have all hands on deck, I'll make sure that Losa and Alvarez agree to sending EZ with you."

"For how long?" asked Caitlin.

"Long enough for me to prepare what needs to be done and mostly make sure that you are there way before and long after it happens."

"Miguel, I'm two months away from my due date."

"I know mi amor, which is why we can't waste time. I'll make sure that the best doctor is available to follow up with your appointments while you're there. If everything goes according to plan, you'll be back home before you have the baby."

Caitlin felt a rock sink in her stomach. It wasn't how she had imagined her last months to be… away from Miguel.

"Do you have enough with 24 hours to tie up any loose ends?" asked Miguel as he shifted his attention to EZ.

"Yeah. Nothing to tie up really. I'm more uncertain about Losa and Alvarez agreeing to this."

"Leave that to me. No one is to know the real reason for you heading to Mexico. For those who ask that have nothing to do with the Mayans, its simply business related. Even for your father."

EZ eyed Miguel. Apparently, Caitlin had told him everything.

"I get that you trust your father, and this is not an indication that I don't trust him, but for his sake, the less he knows, the better off it is."

EZ nodded.

"Matteo will go with you and Rodriguez will meet you at the airstrip like last time," he said to Cailin.

"How sure are we that they are not compromised?"

Miguel took in a deep breath and exhaled. "We're not. And after Romeo and Luis, we can't trust anyone. So, from this moment all the way until your return, you'll need to stick to the story that you are there because you need calm and rest before the baby arrives."

Caitlin nodded but said nothing. She didn't know what to say. She had said that this situation needed drastic measures, but it still didn't sit well with her that in the end three people would die. Having a conscience was always a good thing, but how did one learn to compartmentalize? Luckily, she wouldn't be the one pulling the trigger, but it was a meek consolation.

"OK. So EZ, you're going to have to pretend this is all new to you. As you've been playing the mole and hiding it easily, it shouldn't be an issue for you."

EZ narrowed his eyes. Galindo sure knew how to remind you, very tactfully, your mistakes.

"When this is all over and done with, I want all the information you've accumulated for the DEA."

"Yeah," replied EZ.

"That's it. Make sure you're at the airstrip on time."

"I'll be there," replied EZ before walking away and returning outside to his bike before driving off. Miguel and Caitlin waited a few minutes before in turn returning to their car and heading home.

Caitlin and Miguel sat in the car on the air strip just shy of 8 in the morning. The day before he had done what he had said and planned everything with Losa. At first, Losa hadn't been too thrilled about having one of his men leave for an unspecified amount of time, but as EZ was still a prospect, it was a good way for him to show his loyalty to the club and Galindo.

"You know, amor, if there was any other way to protect you, I wouldn't send you away."

"I know," replied Caitlin as she fidgeted with her fingers.

Miguel took her hand in his and kissed it. "I need to know that you and the baby will be safe. It's just a question of a couple of weeks, then when the dust settles, I'll come for you."

"It's going to be different this time around."

Miguel smiled. "I'd love nothing more than to be with you and propose all over again, but I know what you mean."

EZ's bike drove over to where the car was parked and they watched silently as he dismounted, removed his helmet, and grabbed his bag.

"Just take it easy and don't overdo it," said Miguel as he leaned in toward her and planted a soft and gentle kiss on her lips before letting go of her hand and opening the passenger door.

Miguel walked over to EZ and took him aside. "You need to know that I'm putting in your care and protection the two most important people in my life. Right about now, you're the only one I fully trust. Anything happens to either one of them, I'll dig your grave next to the other's. Am I making myself clear?"

"Yes."

"Good."

Miguel walked over to Caitlin who was waiting at the bottom of the steps. He took her in his arms and kissed her lovingly. "Te quiero mi amor, mi alma, mi vida."

"Yo también," she replied as she stared into his eyes. "Si las cosas se ponen peligrosas, prométeme que abandonarás tu plan."

He eyed her. He knew it wasn't something he could promise her. Whether or not all of this got dangerous, it was the only way out. Backing out of the plan wasn't an option. "Prometo," he finally replied, feeling awful that he was lying to her for the first time since they'd met, a thing he had promised he would never do.

He kissed her again then stood silently as she walked up the steps and disappeared inside the jet, EZ trailing behind her.

"Cuidate mi amor," he said as the door closed and the jet started to roll toward the runway. Her safety and that of their child was the most important thing, no matter what happened to him. If things went south and he ended up in jail or dead, he knew that both would be taken care of, he had made sure of it.
