Disenchantment Sagas Chapter 43 - Party at Number one Castle Drive Part 2
Bean, Elfo, and Luci stood out in the courtyard with Odval and a few castle officials as they watched Zog and Oona depart. As soon as the gate closed, the castle officials cheered, and all ran inside the castle. Bean smirked and rubbed her hands. It was time to send out the invitations. Bean, Elfo and Luci ran into the castle and went straight to Bean's room to grab all of the invitations that they made. They entered the turkey pin and began tying the invitations to several Turkeys. "And there we go!" She said, dusting off her hands. "And tomorrow…the biggest party in the kingdom will commence!"
The following day, the castle was livelier than usual with the absence of King Zog. The castle officials, such as the maids, acted like themselves. People in love or fooling around were now out in the open as If they were outside the kingdom. Odval, who was in charge of ensuring everything was in order, was one of the many acting out of character. Odval didn't care much about trying to keep order in the castle. He, however, was secretly plotting with Sorcerio in private. Bean, Elfo and Luci walked down the hallways and watched everyone delve into antics and chaos. "Now this is what I'm talking about!" said Bean, a big grin dawning on her face. "Oh my god, this party is going to be amazing!"
The trio stopped dead in their tracks when one maid and the chambermaid fell out of a broom closet. The two of them were in a heated makeout session. "Jeez, love birds, save it for the party," said Bean. They stopped and looked up at Bean.
"Sorry, Princess!" said The Chambermaid.
"Wait…" Bean stares at the maid that the chambermaid was on top of. "Tallulah? You and the chambermaid?"
"What can I say? I have a thing for people who are good at their job," Tallulah said shamelessly.
"So are we going back in the broom closet or…?" asked the Chambermaid.
"Oh hell yeah," Tallulah smirked.
The two would get their feet and head back into the broom closet. The trio could hear the sounds of the two making out from outside. After that, Bean, Elfo and Luci were getting the ballroom and courtyard decorated for the party. Elfo and Luci placed up lights around the outside while Bean and a few castle maids decorated the inside. Food and alcohol were all placed on two different tables in the room. "This is looking great!" said Bean excitedly. She turns to the maids. "Thanks for the help, girls!" The maids waved at Bean and continued back to decorating.
"Turbish, be careful with that instrument!" said Pendergast.
Bean turned around and saw Pendergast, Turbish, and Mertz walk onto the ballroom stage and begin setting up their instruments. Turbish was setting up his piano while Mertz was setting up the drums. "Whoa, you guys have a bad? I didn't know you were interesting," said Bean, walking over to them.
"Right now, we mostly play corn exchanges, but a lot of times, people look up from what they are doing!" said Pendergast optimistically.
"Wow, maybe someday you guys will play Cornchella," said Bean.
"Oh. Hey guys! Has the party already started? Or is the kingdom's most eligible bachelor already here?" said Elfo, smiling from ear to ear as he walked into the ballroom wearing a ruff around his neck.
"I don't know. Has anyone other than you showed up?" Luci asked, annoyed.
"Daww, look at you!" Bean squealed. "I think he looks cute. Like the mayor of Babyville!"
"Why do you always have to compare me to a baby?" said Elfo. He crossed his arms and frowned. "I'm a cute man!"
"Oh yes, you are!" said Bean, smiling as she squished Elfo's cheeks, causing him to laugh at the touch.
"S-Stop!" Elfo laughed.
"I could pinch these little cheeks right off! You're such a cutie, Elfo!" Bean said in a cutie tone of voice.
"Stop-Heheh! Stop it-hahaha! I SAID THAT'S ENOUGH!" Elfo yelled as he moved her hands away.
"What in the hell did I walk into?" said Koga, stepping into the ballroom. Bean's attention went straight to Koga. Koga stood in a fancy blue sleeveless vest with a white undershirt and blue dress pants. He also had tied his long black hair in a ponytail with a red band. "Elfo, what the hell is that around your neck?" He stared at Elfo.
"Ummm…" Elfo looked at the ruff around his neck. "It's a ruff."
"What the hell is a ruff?"
"I…uhhhh…I think it's something that rich people wear?" Elfo said, messing around with the ruff.
"Why?" Koga asked.
"I don't know, man. I just thought I looked cool in it!"
"H-Hey Koga!" said Bean, greeting Kog as she approached him. Bean's cheeks were bright red, and she was giggling a bit. "Y-You look great! It's nice to see you in clothes that aren't your wandering gear!"
"I was going to wear it," said Koga. "But, bunty thought I'd look good in it, so…I couldn't say no to her."
"You look more than great-I MEAN-yeah, you look freaking ho-I MEAN! You're looking sharp, Koga!" Bean stuttered, putting up her hands and shooting finger guns at Koga. "Yeeeaaaah!"
"Real smooth princess," said Luci.
Elfo groaned in annoyance as he saw how Bean acted around Koga.
"KOGA MY FRIEND!" said Pendergast. "You're perfect for our band! You can be the lead singer!"
"Yeah, that's a hard no," said Koga, shaking his head.
"Oh, come on, Koga, you got the hair for it! And you're super tall!" said Mertz.
"You can do the flingy hair thing all rockstars do!" said Turbish.
Koga crossed his arms. "Yeah, that's still a hard no."
"Uh, hey, Koga," said Bean, getting closer to him. "So when the party starts and all…umm, can you and I-"
"PARTY? I WANNA GO TO A PARTY!" said Derek, running into the ballroom.
Bean cast a glare at Derek. "No! You are not going to this party, Derek!"
"Aww, but why not?" Derek whined.
"For one, you're a kid, and two! Twerps aren't allowed!"
"But how come Elfo can go then? He's practically a baby!" said Derek, pointing at Elfo.
"HEY! I'm not a baby! I'm a toddler!" Elfo corrected him.
Bean was about to tell Derek to return to his room when her older twin brother, Tavish, caught her eye as he walked by the ballroom door. Derek noticed and ran after him. "TAVIIIISH! BEAN WON'T LET ME GO TO THE PARTY!" He cried. Bean caught up with Derek and groaned.
"Are you serious? What in the hell is Tavish going to-? " She paused and stared at Tavish. He had a long trenchcoat and bag over his shoulder. "Uh…where are you going?"
"Out," Tavish replied.
"When are you coming back?"
"When does the party end?"
Bean's jaw dropped. "Are you serious, Tavish? You said you were coming!"
"I said I would think about it. I didn't make any promises," said Tavish as he turned away from his sister and began walking.
Bean walks over to Tavish and stands in front of him. "You gotta be kidding me! You know Hilda is coming to this party. She's looking forward to seeing you!"
Tavish sighed. "Just tell her I said hi…" He tried walking past Bean, but Bean stepped in front of him again.
"I'm not telling her anything!" said Bean. "If you want Hilda to know something, it will come from your mouth, not mine!"
"I don't have tim-"
"Yes, you do!" Bean cuts him off again. "What in the hell is your deal? Don't you want to see Hilda at all?!"
Tavish closes his eyes and looks away. "I have other things to do, Bean…so please get out of my way."
"You know what…" said Bean. She shoved Tavish out of the way. "SCREW YOU!" She yelled before she stormed off back into the ballroom.
Derek watched as Bean stormed off, and he placed his eyes back on Tavish. "So, can I go to the party?" He asked quietly.
"I don't care, Derek," said Tavish as he walked off.
Bean stepped back into the ballroom with an angry expression on her face. Elfo took notice and asked, "Are you ok, Bean? What happened?"
Bean held herself and didn't make eye contact with Elfo. "Nothing, don't worry about it. I gotta figure some stuff out now…" She said, frustratingly.
Nighttime had arrived, and it would be minutes before the party was ready to start. Bean, Elfo, Luci and Koga stood outside before the castle gate. Luci sends a small flame up at one of the lights around the courtyard, lighting each one in a circle. It was now time for the party to begin.
"Alright, lower the draw bridge!" Bean yelled.
The guards lowered the draw bridge, and no one was waiting to enter. "What the hell?" Elfo said in shock. Bean shook her head. "Ok, yeah, lower the painting of the countryside!"
The castle guards lowered the countryside painting, and a group of people ranging from Dreamland citizens, faires, and even a few ogres stood outside. The partygoers cheered as the draw bridge was lowered.
A gnome stepped forward to ask. "Is this Number One Castle Drive?"
…
The party started with a bang. Pendergast, Turbish and Mertz opened the party with a catchy song that excited everyone. People were already breaking into the alcohol and conversing with friends and strangers that they just met. Bean and Koga were sitting at the bar, watching the partygoers have their fun. Bean looks over at Koga, who has a smile on his face. "Having fun?" She asked. Koga replied, "Yeah, I am," He said earnestly. "I wasn't too big on the idea at first because I didn't know a lot of people here, but…it's fun," He looked over at Bean, smiling at her.
Bean blushed as Koga smiled at her. "Hehe…well…um….so Koga do…do you want to dance?" She asked shyly.
"Dance? Umm…well, I'm not much of a dancer, but…I can give it a try,"
Bean's eyes gleamed, and a big smile appeared on her face. But her attention would shift over to the next party guest who arrived at the party. Hilda had arrived at the party. Hilda had her hair let down, reaching the length of her neck, and wore a grey dress. "Oh umm…I'll be right back!" said Bean as she hurried over to Hilda.
Hilda saw Bean walking her way, and she smiled at her. "Beanie!" She said as she brought Bean into a hug.
Bean wrapped her arms around Hilda, returning the hug. "Oh my god, I'm so glad you could make it!"
"I told you I was coming!" Hilda said, smiling at her.
"You look so cute! I love what you did with your hair! And this dress is so nice!" said Bean, gushing at Hilda's appearance.
Hilda couldn't help but blush at the compliments. "Oh, Bean, this is nothing. When I took it out from my buns, my hair was messy, and this dress is a hand-me-down…"
"Nonsense! You look beautiful, Hilda," said Bean, holding their hands gently.
Hilda smiled at her. "Thank you so much, Bean…" She said, feeling as happy as she'd ever been in a while. Hilda looked around at the people in the party, searching for someone. "So uh…is Tavish here?"
Bean's smile would fade. "Oh uh…well…no, I'm sorry, Hilda, but he left when we set up for the party…" She rubs her left arm anxiously.
It was Hilda's turn for her smile to fade. "Is he coming back?" She asked quietly.
Bean frowned and shook her head no. "I'm sorry Hilda…I tried to get him to stay, but…I really really tired…"
"Oh…" Hilda sounded as though all of the air had left her body. Her eyes fell to the floor, and her expression had grown sadder.
"H-Hey, come on, Hilda, we don't need Tavish! We can have fun without him! As a matter of fact!" Bean turned around and looked at a few knights around the party. "Follow me!"
"Bean-" Hilda said, but Bean grabbed her hand and pulled her into the party. Bean eyed around any guy that she could see. Her eyes fell upon a knight who was standing by himself. "Hey, big guy," said Bean, smirking as she walked over to Knight. "A wallflower, huh? Well, say no more! We got ourselves a beautiful flower right here!" She put Hilda in front of him. "W-What? Bean!" Hilda said, staring at her. "Trust me, it'll be fun! Just mingle! I'll be back to check on you!"
Bean returned to the bar table and saw that Koga was gone. "What? Where'd he go?!" She said, looking around the party for him. "Oh, goddamn it, Koga, where did you run off to?"
Luci looked over at Bean, who was standing all by herself. Luci looks over at Elfo, who is stuffing his face with cheese and counting how much he eats. Luci smacks him in the back of his head, causing him to say, "OW! What was that for?" He whined. "Dude, Bean is by herself! Go talk to her!" said Luci.
Elfo looks over at Bean, and a frightened expression dawns on his face. "I don't know Luci…" He said fearfully.
"UGH, dude, what is your deal? You're all stuffed with cheese, Bean's by herself, SO GO MAKE A MOVE STUPID!"
Elfo's frightened expression was now replaced with a more determined look. "You're right, Luci! I will march right over to Bean and say something I'll have figured out by the time I get there!"
And so Elfo did so. He marches over to Bean and tries to get her attention. "Um…Bean?"
"Oh Elfo, hi," said Bean, looking down at him. "Hey, have you seen Koga anywhere?"
"Uh…no, I haven't…" said Elfo, frowning. "Um, hey Bean, I wanted to ask yo-"
"He was just here a minute ago…" said Bean. "How do you lose someone that tall?"
"I…umm…Bean?"
"Don't tell me he left! No way he would. He wanted to dance with me!" said Bean, saddened.
"Well, if you want to dance, maybe we can dance?" Elfo asked. "I can stand on your shoes, and we can hold hands-"
"Yeah, maybe later, Elfo," said Bean as she wandered into the party.
"Oh man…" said Elfo, slumping and frowning.
The party for the citizens was going great. For others, however…
Not so great
