Chapter 5: Now the real fun can begin!

The next day, I woke up very late in the morning. Someone obviously came in to check on me, since I was changed and under the covers. I'm guessing Akari heard and came on to check on me. She's the only one who would change me into comfortable clothes, everyone else would just put me under the covers. I think Yuuto gets his golden heart from his mother, she's an angel. After getting into comfortable day clothes, I went downstairs to get food. My father and Yuuto were in the kitchen drinking coffee and reading, Yuuto had a newspaper and my dad had a book.

"So what's for lunch? I guess I missed breakfast."

Not even looking up, my father replied, "well what do you want? "

"I really miss your scramble eggs, when you put everything in them. You're rarely home enough to make them anymore."

"Ok, I'll make them. Yuuto do you want any?" My dad gets up and starts getting everything together.

"Sure Joe, if you're offering I'll eat whatever you make. Thank you. Ali cat, how are you feeling? "

"Still tired, I guess the nurse's quirk took a lot out of me. But otherwise never better. My body feels much lighter."

"You were probably being weighed down by all those injuries without realizing it," my dad comments. Guess he's bitter that I was hiding a lot from him by his tone.

"Probably, dad, I'm sorry for not letting you know. I didn't want to add to your troubles, you were working very hard just to afford everything."

"Honey, you could never add to my troubles, just my worries like yesterday. I was terrified that you were seriously hurt, that was the worst feeling ever."

"Sorry dad."

He stops cooking to give me a big hug. I almost start crying, I really miss spending quality time with my dad. "Ok enough of this opera, food." Sometimes I really hate Yuuto.

Letting go and getting back to work on the food, my father and Yuuto let me know they cleared their schedules to spend the next few days with me. After eating Yuuto and dad played games with me, card games and regular board games for the rest of the day. It was getting close to dinner time, I realized that I left my phone upstairs. Remembering that the boys were supposed to call about homework, I ran to my room to check it. Over 30 missed calls from Karissa, possibly 50 missed messages from her and the guys. An email from the school. "Well shit, that can't be good."

"What can't be?" Not realizing I had subconsciously walked back into the playroom, Yuuto was staring at me. My dad must be in the kitchen grabbing food or something.

"I missed a lot of messages from my friends and the school emailed me."

"Well what did the school say?" I jumped a few feet in the air, not expecting my dad to be right behind me.

"No clue yet, let me check." Opening the email, I see it is an apology from the principal. "It's an apology from the principal, he thinks the teacher pushed me too hard and said to take all the time I needed to recover."

"Good, what that teacher did was horrible. He put your life at risk."

"Eh, he was just trying to prepare us for the real world, sure he went a little far but I don't think he meant harm by it. He was right once I became a hero, no one is going to pause the battle to let me get water. "

"Ali cat is right Joe. He pushed too hard but he meant well I think."

"Anyway, I'm glad they apologized. I think you should stay home until next week which just means missing one more day."

"Yeah ok, you already took off the time to be with me, I'm not going to throw that away." Yuuto laughs, I start reading my messages. Karissa was upset I never called her afterschool and was wondering if I was ok or if I was mad at her. I swear, even though I love her, she's so dramatic. I wrote her back quickly, explained that shit went down yesterday and didn't have time to respond. Then I read the messages from the boys, Oboro wrote the most checking on me and wanted my address so he could come over and drop off some stuff and asked when I'll be back at school. Shouta sent two, one to check on me, the other to ask if he could join Oboro to come over. Hizashi just asked if he and I could talk privately, no clue why. I made a group chat and sent the guys the address to the mansion and let them know I was also going to be gone the next day and it makes more sense for them to come over during the weekend. Then said I was fine and was only taking the extra day to spend quality time with my dad. Oboro responded immediately saying that he was glad I was ok and that they'll come over during the weekend after lunch to give me more time with my dad. Shouta and Hizashi didn't respond until after dinner saying they agreed to the plan, then Hizashi asked to confirm the address because the one I sent was located in a rich district. I explained that I was at my cousin's place for a while and that the address was their mansion, not my family's apartment. No response for the rest of the night. Karissa did call me later where I explained what all happened, she was horrified at what all happened. But didn't freak out as badly as I thought she would, instead gave her best and changed topics to my new friends from school.

"What do you want me to say?"

"Do you have a crush on any of them? What are they like? What's their quirk? Anything!"

"Well…."

"Talk now!"

"Shouta is the hottest guy I've ever seen. He's so sweet and caring though he's mostly quiet, you can tell how fiercely loyal to his friends he is. Oh Kar, he's too good for me."

"I highly doubt that you are amazing and deserve the absolute best. No one is too good for you, you are too good for everyone else."

"Thanks for that but you haven't met this man. He's so humble and kind. I think I'm in love."

"Damn, never heard you talk that highly of anyone ever before in your life. And you praise Yuuto and your dad often."

"Whatever, Oboro is the guy who stole my phone, the guy with weird hair. He's loud and fun, always says what's on his mind, I truly thought he was innocent at first. Turns out he's just naive, the kid has no filter. But he's funny as hell and keeps the peace of the group. Hizashi is the guy with yellow hair, he is awful to me. But I figured out why."

"Why would he be awful to you, you're amazing. A little mouthy, but really amazing."

"Thanks I think? He thought I was a stuck up brat because I stayed quiet during my first week there and talked back to the teacher. When he caught me staring at his friends, he tried to put me in my place. I showed him up, and fought back. Then I discovered he's probably gay and is actually in love with Shouta too, not confirmed yet. But how he acts just proves my theory that he sees me as a love rival and keeps trying to prove I'm unworthy. I'm not but I'll be damned if I ever let him know that. Besides, by now it's become a fun distraction at school. He actually has some good qualities and he's actually a good guy, to everyone else but me, and his taste in music is amazing. Again I'll never admit that to his face."

"Ok then, so you actually like Shouta and not Oboro?"

"Yeah, my heart aches for Shoua, but Oboro is amazing and is easy to hang out with."

"Whatever it's your heart, and if any of them truly hurt you I'll kick their ass. Hizashi is on my watch out list, but he hasn't actually done anything bad to you. I'll still kick his ass if you want me to."

"Haha, nah. He's good for now, I like fighting with him, it keeps it interesting to argue with someone."

"You're weird."

"We already know this."

"Yeah but I had to make it a point to remind you. Anyway I gotta go. Bye and actually go easy on yourself and stop getting hurt."

"No promises, and bye Kar."

The next day went much like the day before, I ate and played games with my dad and cousin. I let them know the guys were going to stop by sometime to drop off school work. They were ok with that. During meals, I opened up to them about everything and let out all of my secrets. All except my feelings towards Shouta, they didn't need to know that yet, well Yuuto guessed but I refused to confirm. It brought us closer. My dad did inform me though that he had an old coworker working on this new technology and was thinking about setting up a site in America. Nothing is written in stone but if they did pursue this, then we could go back to Texas. Again that's a distant thought and could just be a fantasy. But though I missed Texas, I feel like I would miss Yuuto and everyone else more.

After the boys got out of school, Hizashi called me.

"Hey yellow hair, did you miss fighting with me that much?"

"No, I just wanted to actually apologize and to explain myself. "

"Stop right there, no need to apologize. And I can guess why you pick fights with me."

"You can?"

"Yeah you see me as a love rival for Shouta, and refuse to let someone else have him, especially someone who you think is unworthy."

"The fuck?"

"Am I wrong?"

"Ummm"

"I'm not, am i?"

He lets out a huge sigh, "no you're not."

"Knew it!"

"But how the fuck did you figure it out? Oboro hasn't noticed a thing, and we spend more time together."

"My cousin taught me human observation skills and basic psychology, and I couldn't put my finger on it until you guys came to the course and Yuuto picked up on gay vibes from you."

"Your cousin knows?"

"Not the full story, but he can read people really well. How he gets out of a lot of trouble."

"Huh, ok well I guess we're good."

"Hey, just cause you found out some shit about me doesn't mean you have to go easy on me and stop fighting with me. Things would get boring if you did."

"No, I'm not giving up. I just wanted to make it clear I don't actually hate you and hated seeing you hurt."

"Figured, and same for me. Oh by the way, I'll keep your secret as long as you keep mine. And don't go easy on me."

"Promise, I won't. Anyway, goodnight."

"Goodnight Hizashi."

The next day, just like we planned, the boys came after lunch to drop off homework.

"You live here? " Oboro asked after I gave a quick tour.

"Well it's actually my cousin's place, but yeah my dad and I stay here sometimes."

"This place is so big and pretty."

"Thank you young man." Akari says as she walks in the living room with snacks and drinks. My dad and cousin followed her carrying the stuff that didn't fit on the tray. "I'm so glad to finally meet friends of Alesha's that are of her own age."

"Mom, my friends aren't bad."

"Didn't say they were dear, just that they are older than her. A young girl needs friends her age."

I interrupt their conversation and introduce everyone to each other.

Shouta bows to my father and says, "nice to finally meet you sir and thank you for allowing us to come over."

"Nice to meet you kid, and it's not my house to thank the hostess here," he points to Akari.

"Thank you ma'am for allowing us into your wonderful home."

"It's not a home, it's a Goddamn mansion."

"Alesha language, and of course. Please let me know if you need anything while you're here."

"We will absolutely, thank you." Oboro says excitedly.

"Well, Joe, Yuuto. Let's leave these kids to do their homework."

"No funny business, kids. I'll be checking in on you randomly."

"Seriously dad, we're just doing homework. Not anything crazy."

"Yeah ok," then the adults walked out.

"They seem nice," Oboro breaks the silence.

"They are, now what did I miss?"

"Not much homework wise actually, just these few worksheets here." Oboro handed me a few papers of homework I had to complete. "The big thing you missed was the announcement of us having to prepare for the sports festival."

"Oh that thing, the UA sports festival is actually a big deal if I remember correctly."

"Yes, agencies use it as a time to view the students and scout out potential interns."

"That's weird, but whatever. In America, there is no sports festival, just sports and actually sports. Not this quirk shows off things that they do here."

"Yeah, but I think it's going to be awesome."

"Well, good thing I rested up because I'm going to beat all of you."

"Yeah right, you would be lucky if you beat the non hero course kids." I'm glad to see Hizashi revert back to fighting with me again.

"Whatever, watch me get first place."

"No I will."

We went back and forth for a while before we actually got started on homework. Shouta and Hizashi helped me with translating the work so I can properly work on it. And I helped Hizashi and Oboro with math and science. Shouta is brilliant so he hardly needs help, just clarification in some places that he's doing it right. When dinner time came around we finished everything and were just listening to music together. Hizashi and I were in a debate over techno/electric music when my dad asked if the boys wanted to stay for dinner. They agreed and we had dinner in the small dining room. Riku and his father joined us along with Akari, Yuuto and of course my dad. I introduced the guys to Takeshi and Riku. As always, Takashi was polite and Riku was being a brat. But he knew to keep his mouth shut in company, even if he thought the company was below him. It was awkward and quiet during dinner, but lucky Riku excused himself just before dessert. The moment he left, I informed my family about the sports festival. My dad had many questions about what it was, the boys took over to explain what it was. Hizashi declared his rivalry with me and I gladly accepted. Everyone was laughing at our fight. The tension left the room and everyone relaxed during the desert. Once it was over, the boys left to go home, Yuuto offered them a ride home. They gladly accepted, I think they only did because they love his car. Takashi, Akari and my dad said they were going to let the whole family know and try to get them all to show up at the sports festival to cheer me on. I never felt so loved in my life. Later, when my dad and I were watching tv, my dad turned to me. "So your mom decided to go back to America, luckily we just leased the house so she can move back home no problem. But the current tenants can't move until the end of this month."

"Ugh, May just started dad."

"I know, if you want to stay here until she leaves you can, I may even join you if that's what you want."

"Yeah I think it sounds good, but I'm going to need to grab more stuff."

"I'll take you afterschool on Monday, she apparently has a massage appointment that day."

"Sounds like a plan."

Monday came and nothing special happened, hung out with the guys at lunch and the class prepared themselves for the festival. After school my dad texted he was running late to pick me up, so I went to the nurses office to see if I still had any old injuries that she could fix and give me another boost. Recovery Girl was actually happy to see me, she did want to do another session since I still had a few injuries she couldn't get to last time. I used this time to ask her about her career and how she got it. She was happy to answer everything and explain her story and I eventually told my dream of becoming a doctor that can still participate in defeating villains. Never did I figure she would get so excited for my dream. When I got the message from my dad that he arrived on campus, I said goodbye and she told me that I can stop by anytime and she'll help me accomplish my dream in any way she can. After thanking her, I promised to take her up on her offer and went to go to my dad.

We lightly chatted about our day while getting more things so we can stay at the mansion until the end of this month. Unfortunately, my mom showed up before we finished grabbing everything and she tried to talk to me. Luckily my dad knew that I wouldn't put up her shit and told her to go away. She eventually did and we left without saying goodbye. I was so glad that no drama happened through the rest of the week. School we prepared for the sports festival, at home I relaxed with my family and everyone was messaging that they were going to find some way to watch it and support me. This included my brother and my best friend Karissa who were in America. Though it wouldn't be televised in America thanks to my family's connections they could watch it online at home which excited me and terrified me at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I was happy everyone wanted to support me, but I was terrified that if I messed up that now the world would see it and judge me for it. That's a lot of pressure to put on a 15 year old girl. The end of the week showed up and Yuuto offered to have one training session after school and my friends could join if they wanted. Hizashi couldn't decide whether he wasn't excited to train with us or have pride that he was better in every way. The other two were happy for a new training technique to better themselves and dragged the reluctant Hizashi. Remember how I told y'all that I was unimpressed by UA's training after training with the group so much, yeah these boys were not prepared to handle what the group threw at them. They even went easy on us to prevent injuries and overuse before the big event, the boys still struggled. It was so funny that the hardest one to crack, Ken, was laughing at their struggle. Though they struggled they never gave up and did well. Everyone kept an eye on me and it was annoying for people to take it easy on me, I know why they did it but it still pissed me off. Making sure to hydrate fully during the weekend so I have weakness during the festival, it was time to start. All year one student waited in the tunnel of the arena to make our grand entrance and start the sports festival. Oboro gave me a hug, Shouta gave me a high five and Hizashi grunted at me to pump ourselves up. Then we were given the signal to enter and I nearly froze when I saw the size of the crowd. But Oboro put a hand on my back and gave me a light push, so I would keep walking.

"Welcome to the UA sports festival, let's get started!"
