Disclaimer: I don't own Mario.
"It's-a no fair!"
Mario turned towards Luigi, astonished by his little brother's sudden outburst.
The younger of the two siblings had a frown on his moustached face, his arms folded across his chest. It was a sight which left Mario taken aback. It wasn't like his shy, mild-mannered brother to be in a bad mood. This was out-of-character for him.
"What's-a matter, Luigi?" Mario asked.
"I'mma fed up of being overshadowed by you!"
"Overshadowed?" Mario stared, baffled by the big word uttered by his little brother. "What-a you talk about, Luigi?"
Luigi grunted irritably. "You always get a-more attention than me!"
"What?!" Mario's jaw dropped at the shocking claim his own family had made about him. "That's-a no true! We always get equal attention! After all, we're the Mario Brothers!"
"Aye, we are!" Luigi huffed. "But it's always you who is the star of all the games!"
"Me?!" Mario uttered bewilderingly. "The star?"
"Yeah," Luigi affirmed, narrowing his eyes. "You!"
Mario looked away in thought. He had to admit, Luigi did have a point about him always been the main character of all the video games they'd ever been in. Never had considered how his little brother felt about constantly being second fiddle to him.
"It's-a always 'Mario this' and 'Mario that' when it comes to our games! Nobody ever thinks about me!" Luigi banged his clenched fist into his palm. "It's-a 'bout time I had some games were I'mma the star!"
"You wanna be the star of your own games?" Mario turned back towards his sibling. "I can arrange that…"
Luigi's frown instantly disappeared, his ears peeking up at the encouraging words that had unexpectedly murmured.
"You can?"
"Uh huh. You're right, Luigi. It is about time you had games of your own to be the star of." A smile crossed Mario's moustached face. "I have the power to make that a-happen…"
"You'd a-do that, Mario?" Luigi's face started to soften as he gazed at his sibling, astonished at how sincere he was being. "For me?"
"Hey…" Mario's smile widened. "What are brothers for?"
"Yay!" Luigi cheered elatedly as he jumped up high to punch the air in his excitement. "I'mma gonna be the star! I'mma gonna have my own games!"
"You a-sure are, Luigi…" Mario nodded slowly as the smile remained on his face. "You a-sure are…"
"Ay-ay-ay!"
Luigi stood rooted to the spot, frozen in fear His teeth chattered frozen as he glanced all around, taking in his spine-chilling surroundings with wide terrified eyes.
This was not what he had mind for the games he wanted to star in. Instead of being within the colourful atmospheres which his brother always journeyed through, he was inside a dark, creepy building. It was filled with danger at every corner, not to mention it was overrun by hideous, sinister-looking Boos.
Luigi didn't like this at all. He didn't take well to scary creatures and frightening locations. Why did he have to have all of these in his very own game?
"Mariooooooooooooooo!" Luigi wailed at the top of his lungs. "Why did you a-have to make my own game so spooky like a-this?"
From the armchair he was seated comfortably in, Mario watched Luigi on the screen of the TV in front of him. He smirked with amusement, enjoying how his brother was taking to the sort of video game he'd had him out into. He picked up the controller that was connected to the console, eager to send his brother on his way along the terrifying levels he was to go through.
"You said you a-wanted your own games, Luigi!" Mario snicked. "You never told me what-a genre! It's no my fault you ended up being the star of survival horror!"
Mario grinned wickedly as he pushed the analogue stick on the controller, sending his freaked-out brother on his way through the scary game he'd ended up reluctantly staring in.
The older of the two brothers felt very pleased with himself. He had given his overshadowed little sibling the very chance he'd asked for to be the main character of his own video game for once.
He had known perfectly well Luigi wouldn't at all take well to being the star of such a scary game - and that was why Mario was enjoying every minute of this.
