Every day, we're surrounded by people who ask how we're doing. But when surgeons ask how you're doing, we genuinely care about your answer. Your answer to "How are you doing?" tells us how good a job we're doing at taking care of you. Unfortunately, caretaking outside of medicine is usually more complicated

Meredith and Amelia stood by the food cart and had just gotten their breakfast bagel.

"And how is your matchmaker doing?" Amelia asked.

"Condition hasn't changed much, we're keeping an eye on her," Meredith said.

"I was talking more about going to find a guy for you, you went shopping," Amelia said.

"That was on her advice, She says to start with me from the outside in, whatever that means.

"Maybe if she's successful with you, I might consider hiring her," Amelia said.

Meredith's phone rang; "Would you mind holding my bagel?"

"No, give it," Amelia said.

"Meredith handed her bagel to Amelia, she grabbed her phone and answered it; This is Dr. Grey, Yes, I'll be right there, I have a patient waiting for me.

"Here is your bagel back," Amelia said handing Meredith her bagel back.

"Thank you."

Meredith and Amelia finished eating their bagels, then they headed to the hospital.

Bailey sat on the bench by the hospital entrance drinking her coffee, she saw Webber get out of his car, he walked over and sat down next to her.

"Morning Dr. Bailey," Webber greeted.

"Morning Dr. Webber," She greeted back, handing him his cup of coffee. "Here's your coffee."

"Thank you," Webber said, he said back and took a sip of his coffee.

"And how was the wife doing?" Bailey asked.

"Well, she's busy with the Catherine Fox hospitals right now and that takes time, so unfortunately then I wasn't able to spend a lot of time with her, but I'm glad I was able to see her at least," Webber told her.

"And what is Catherine Fox's next destination?"

"She is flying to Los Angels in two days and she will stay there for the a long time, Los Angels has one of the most hospitals, so."

"Los Angels the first thing I would do there is go to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and take a picture with the star of Samuel L. Jackson," Bailey said.

Webber laughed a little about Bailey's comment. Bailey looked at the time on her watch, she got up and went into the hospital. Webber remained seated for a while and sipped his coffee quietly.

April walked into Cece's room, where Diego was already there, busy checking Cece's vitals. "Hello Dr. Kepner," Diego Greeted.

"Hi Dr. Medina," Hi Cece.

"Hi Dr. Kepner," Cece said.

"Dr. Grey was unexpectedly asked for a consult, so I'll take over for today," April said.

"That's okay," Cece said.

"How are you doing?" April asked.

"Same still, I don't feel any worse, but I don't feel any better either," Cece said.

Here vitals are unchanged," Dr. Kepner Diego said.

"Okay, good to know," April said. "We're about to ultrasound you. Dr. Medina, get the ultrasound machine."

"Okay, Dr. Kepner," Diego said.

"So I hear your ex-husband has a new love," Cece said.

"How'd you find out?" April asked.

"A little bird told me," Cece said turning to Diego.

April looked at Diego, who uncomfortably tried to look away; It was that, or she would try to start over again, he said nervously. "I'm going to get that ultrasound machine now."

"Yes, it's true that Dr. Avery has a girlfriend," April said.

"And how does that make you feel? Cece asked, placing her hand on April's hand.

"I'm happy for him. He deserves to be happy," she said.

"I admire that you are so okay with your ex seeing another woman," Cece said.

"He isn't just my ex-husband, but he is also my best friend," April told Cece.

"What about you, "Dr. Kepner?"

"What do you mean?" April asked raising her eyebrow.

"What about you and the romantic area?" Cece asked.

April let out a nervous giggle; "I'm single and I have a lot of things to focus on right now, running the Trauma department and my kids."

"I get that, but there's always room for a new love," Cece said.

"I like being single right now, so I'm not looking for love," April said.

Diego came back into the room with the ultrasound machine; "I have the machine."

"Plug it in please," April said.

"Yes, Doctor," Diego said.

Diego connected the machine, April lifted the gown Cece, put gel on her and placed the transducer on Cece's abdomen, she started making movements and looked at the screen.

"I see no changes, April said.

"So not good, but also not bad? See asked.

April nodded her head, she cleaned the gel of off Cece's abdomen and pulled down her gown. "I'll get back to you later Cece," she said. Cece nodded her head. April and Diego left Cece's room and went on their rounds.

Bailey was in the skills lab going over some of the labs, Alex walked in.

"I need you to do a surgical consult with Meredith, Alex said.

"I'm busy," Bailey said.

"Look I'm missing a lot of doctors to day, Dr. Lincoln, Dr. Nolan, and Dr. Qadri are sick at home with a stomach flu So I need you to put the future on hold and take care of the patients that exist in the present. And your consult in my office, refusing to leave."

Alex left the room before Bailey could say another word; "And I made him Chief," she said to herself.

Webber and DeLuca walked into the Pit; Helm, Schmitt, get over here. Schmitt and Helm walked over to Webber.

"Okay, Kepner is busy elsewhere, so it's just us in the E.R. I'll handle the trauma. The three of you take the rest of the pit. Report to DeLuca here. Grey Sloan prides itself on providing the highest level of patient care. Some of your colleagues were woefully short in that department. I expect you to do better. Okay, let's move."

Schmitt and Helm nodded their heads and went to work.

"Thank you, Dr. Webber," DeLuca said.

"It's not a favor," he told DeLuca. He saw the paramedic bringing someone in and walked over to them. What do we have here?"

Amelia walked towards the ER after being paged, she walked towards the bed where her patient was and saw that Jenna was already there too and was listening to the patient's heart.

"Hello Dr. Sheperd," Jenna greeted.

"Dr. Wyatt," Amelia said.

Jenna gestured to the patient and was about to introduce him; "This is...," she began.

"I know who this is. Hello, Fred," Amelia said.

"Hey. Dr. Shepherd," Fred greeted.

"Fred is a patient of mine, or was," Amelia told Jenna.

"Dr. Shepherd got rid of a tumor that I had then, but I don't have a tumor now I guess," Fred said.

"Probably because you were a former patient of mine, I accidently got paged," Amelia said.

"Mr. Peterson is here now because of his heart," Jenna said.

"Dr. Wyatt, you can call me Fred or Freddie, if you like," Fred said, he turned to Amelia. "I fainted and they brought me here."

"An you sure it was because of your heart? Amelia asked.

"I had been sweating all day and all of a sudden I had such a pain in my heart, Fred said grabbing his chest.

"Heart attack?" Amelia asked.

"We can't be sure. We can't rule anything out yet. I think we should do a CT scan first," Jenna said, putting what Fred just said in the chart.

"If you say so," Amelia said with almost a scoff tone in her voice.

"You don't think so?" Jenna asked.

Amelia didn't answer the question and looked towards Fred; Fred we're going to do a CT on you okay?

"Okay, Dr. Shepherd," Fred nodded.

"Will you take Fred over there?" Amelia asked.

"Okay, I will," Jenna said.

"Okay," Amelia said, she turned to Fred. "See you in a minute, Fred."

See you in a minute, Dr. Shepherd," Fred said.

"Dr. Wyatt," Amelia said as she started to walk away.

Jenna removed the brakes from the wheels of Fred's bed and along with a nurse she took Fred to the CT scan.

Arizona and her intern Parker walked toward a room, where a pregnant woman was lying and next to her was her husband.

"Hello Piper and Darren," Arizona greeted.

"Hello Dr. Robbins," Piper greeted back.

"This is Dr. Parker, he is my intern for the day and will be helping out," Arizona

"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey," Parker greeted.

"Hello Dr. Parker and you can call me Piper," she insisted

"Parker please present the case," Arizona said.

"Piper Ramsey, 30 weeks pregnant, expecting a boy and on the last ultrasound it was discover that the baby has Amniotic Syndrome, left hand is tight together," Parker said.

"Dr. Robbins, you're gonna loosen his fingers, right?" Piper asked.

"With a special instrument, I can reach the fetus and cut the band," Arizona told her.

"Without harming our son, right?" Darren asked.

"Your son won't be harmed," Arizona reassured the couple

"I still have my doubts. Maybe we should wait till he's born, at least he will be here with us then," Darren said.

"Darren, the last ultrasound showed that the fingers are severely pinched. If we do nothing, your son could lose his hand," Arizona told him

"Dr. Robbins is the best in the best there is, I know she'll make sure your baby's okay," Parker said.

"Darren, we have to do this, please, after everything we've been through before," Piper said while looking at her husband with a begging look.

He turned to Arizona; "Nothing will happen to our son?"

"I promise," Arizona said.

"Then let's go for the surgery, Darren said.

Piper grabbed her husband's hand and squeezed it softly. Arizona and Parker left the room and walked down the hallway, They stopped walking and Arizona turned to Parker; Parker.

"Yes, Dr. Robbins, Parker responded.

"I asked you specifically for this operation, you are someone knowledgeable about a lot of technology and you are one of the best interns in your class and I really need the best for this one, Arizona said.

"You can count on me Dr. Robbins, Parker said.

"These two have a sad history with 4 miscarriages and I will make sure nothing will happen to this baby, Arizona told him. I really need to know that I can count on you.

"I will make it my personal mission that everything will turn alright for this couple," Parker said.

"Thank you, Arizona said. And you don't have to say ma'am to me."

"I will, ma'am," Parker said. "I mean Dr. Robbins."

Alex and Jo sat together outside the skills lab, Jo was busy talking, but Alex wasn't paying attention so he didn't hear a word she was saying.

"Alex are you listening?

"What?" Alex said. "Yeah, I'm listening, you were talking about…" he of course didn't know what Jo has been saying to him.

"You didn't hear a word I said," Jo said. "What were you thinking about?"

I believe I suck as Chief," Alex confessed.

What? Why would you think something like that?" She asked.

I haven't been chief for a month and I screwed up a lot," he said.

"And you don't think Webber, Hunt or Bailey made mistakes in the beginning? They didn't show it, but they probably did."

"Whatever," he scoffed.

Jo gave Alex a kiss on the nose; "You're just getting started, you just need to find your feet, and before you know it, you'll be the best chief this hospital's ever had."

"If you really think that," Alex said.

"I really do, Jo said, she gave looked at her watch and got up. I'll see you later.

Jo gave Alex another kiss and walked away. Alex walked toward his office and then Jackson walked up to him.

"Oh, hey, Karev. Have I got a present for you," Jackson said as he and Alex started walking

"What's the present?" Alex asked.

"I've got an 11 year-old with an extensive osteochondroma in both scapulae, all right? Wildest case of it I have ever seen. And it's pro bono".

"Pro bono?! "

"I know the family, I used to go to college with his father," Jackon said.

"How is that a present? We're bleeding money out of every, Alex said, he stopped talking when he saw the boy. The father of the boy turned to them.

"Rafi, look who's here."

"Dr. Avery!" Rafi said.

"You're welcome, Jackson said, he walked into the room. "Hey, buddy!"

Bailey walked into Alex's office, where a woman was reading; "Ms. Sullivan? Hi. I'm Dr. Bailey," she introduced herself.

"I'm here for Dr. Grey, Nina said.

"Dr. Grey is not here," Bailey said.

"I've already seen an internist, two gastroenterologists, and two surgeons who ran dozens of inconclusive test before diagnosing me with acid reflux, anorexia, and anxiety, none of which are actually the cause of my stomach pain. So I'm here to see the woman I read about, the best, Dr. Meredith Grey. And you have both made it clear that you are not her, so no thank you and goodbye."

"Ms. Sullivan. I'm am not Meredith Grey. This is true. But I am the woman who taught Meredith Grey. Grey was a lump of clay when I met her. And I shaped her with my two hands into the surgeon that she has become. "

Meredith walked into Alex's office; "Hey, I was needed for a consult, Alex told to find you here."

"Well you've got your wish," Bailey said to Nina. "Here is Dr. Grey."

DeLuca and Helm were busy stitching up a patient's leg, while Schmitt was taking a look at the wound on the patients head.

"Okay, Helm, go get some ABD and conform to dress this."

"Mm-hmm."

"Dr. Webber," DeLuca said as he saw Webber coming their way. "Got a small lac on the forehead and on the calf, but I just finished repairing the leg. "

"Webber saw that Schmitt looked a bit concerned; "Hmm. Is there a problem, Schmitt?"

"The edges don't want to line up," Schmitt said.

"Well, I can see that, Webber said. DeLuca, you have any advice for him?"

"Throw a corner stitch on the apex first. Then the rest will line up. Come on. You know that", DeLuca said.

"Right. Sorry," Schmitt apologized.

DeLuca took of his gloves and walked over to Webber; Look, um, Schmitt's just a little distracted. I-I think he's got a thing for Helm.

"Is that his excuse or yours?" He asked.

"It's not an excuse, Dr. Webber. It's just an explanation," DeLuca said.

"Well, you could have fooled me, Webber said. You and Schmitt were on the same patient, and you didn't notice that he needed help? Show some initiative," DeLuca.

Jackson and Alex were in the room of Rafi and were talking to him and his father.

"Dr. Karev is our chief of pediatric surgery, well, right now chief of everything," Jackon said. "This is Rafi and Aamir. "

"Thank you so much for doing this," Aamir said.

"You mind if I take a look?" Alex asked.

"Of course."

"Hey, Rafi, can you lift your arms above your head for me? Alex asked. Rafi lifted his arm and let out a soft grunt when his arms got higher. "Oh, yeah." Alex walked over to Rafi and took a look at his arm and back. "Alright. How'd you guys meet? "

"Me and Aamir went to college together, he was the captain of our football team," Jackson said. "He called me a few days ago and then we met up."

"So what do you like to do Rafi?" Alex asked.

"Rafi loves to swim, even when it's freezing outside," Aamir said.

"And skip rocks and climb trees," Rafi said.

"Basically anything outdoors," Aamir told them.

"When Rafi was 8 years old, he was diagnosed with multiple osteochondromas," Jackson said.

"They're benign overgrowths in my bones and cartilage. "They're hereditary," Rafi told Alex.

"He explains it to people about five times a day," Aamir said.

Jackson turned to the computer; "Tell you what we're gonna do here, is we're gonna shave your bones down and reshape them so they go from this...," he said, he pressed a button and showed how it would look. "To... this."

"You're sure we should remove them now?" Aamir asked. His pediatrician said we might want to wait till he's older.

"No. I want them off now! They're weird", Rafi said.

"That's okay. The risk isn't any different if we do it now or later," Jackson said.

"And he's in good hands. Avery and I make an excellent team," Alex said.

Jo walked into the room; Sorry I'm late," she said. "I had to, uh, put a pin in a tibia."

"What are you doing here?" Alex asked his wife.

"Well with Link being out sick, I'm on this case now," Jo said. "Isn't it great? Our first case as a married couple."

"Yeah."

"Hi, I'm Dr. Jo Karev," she said introducing herself to Rafi and his father.

Amelia and Jenna had finished Fred's CT scans and were now looking at the results.

"He has a blood clot in his heart and he is already quite large," Jenna said.

"I can't believe this," Amelia said.

"I know, that this guy didn't suffer from his heart before, you will think when I see this thing," Jenna said.

"That's not what I'm talking about," Amelia said.

"Then what are you talking about? What are you looking at?" Jenna asked.

"The cells in this tumor are deviating," Amelia said pointing at the screen. "This has all the principles of a tumor becoming malignant, I have to remove it."

"After I remove the clot," Jenna said.

"Well, I'd really rather get started right away," Amelia said.

"We can't operate at the same time, the tumor and the heart are close together, we'll just get in each other's way," Jenna pointed out

"We won't, because I'll remove the tumor first," Amelia said.

"Wait, you want to remove the tumor first? It's not even malignant yet," Jenna said.

"But it has signs of going. If we take it out now, we can prevent that," Amelia said.

"Well, that should happen after I get rid of the clot, which is a bigger priority than the tumor, Jenna said.

"You really think so?" Amelia questioned.

"Yes, I do and every other cardio doctor will agree with me on that," Jenna said.

"And as Head of Neuro I say that tumor is a bigger priority," Amelia said.

"Fred came here because of his heart problems and now we have the cause and since he is my patient and as Head of Cardio, I say we are going to get rid of that blood clot first," Jenna said determined.

"You know why we leave that decision to our patient, he can choose what he prefers," Amelia said.

"Excuse me for saying it Dr. Shepherd but this sounds really ridiculous, you know as well as I do, that the clot should be taken out faster than the tumor," Jenna said.

Amelia said nothing, she got up and left the room. Jenna got up and said left the CT room as well.

Alex, Jackson and Jo were in the OR working on Rafi, Jo looked over at Alex. "It's kinda romantic isn't you, me working together on this, Jo said.

"I guess," Alex said. "Expect for the fact that…"

"That I'm here too," Jackson said. "And so are they." Jackson tilted his had to the rest of the or staff.

"Oh right," Jo said. "Bone saw please."

"The nurse handed Jo the bone saw and she got to work. One of the nurse came in.

"The path report is back, she said. showing the doctors the report.

"I thought you said it wasn't malignant," Alex said.

"Damn it."

Bailey and Meredith were in Nina's room going over her results.

"The HIDA scan and the ERCP were negative," Bailey said.

"Which rules out the gallbladder and biliary tree, Meredith said crossing it of the board.

"Yeah. I told you that a half-hour ago," Nina said.

"Okay. We know that, but this is how we work," Baily said.

"Yeah, yeah. Process of elimination. I get it. We do the same thing down at my auto shop. I'm a mechanic, and I learned everything I know from my dad. He ran that shop for 45 years then retired and passed it on to me... along with that lunch pail."

"Which you brought for good luck?" Meredith asked.

"Which I brought with me for lunch. I'm constantly fasting for all the tests you doctors order, so I bring myself a sandwich for when I'm done," Nina said.

"Um, I want to run a technetium scan to rule out Meckel's diverticulum," Bailey began.

"It's not that," Nina said.

"You've been tested?" Bailey asked.

Nina went through her folder and grabbed a piece of paper. "No, but I read about it online."

"Okay. The Internet does not provide accurate diagnoses," Bailey said.

"Yeah, well, far as I can tell, neither do you," Nina said to Bailey.

April went back to Cece's room; "Hello Cece," April greeted.

"Dr. Kepner."

"I'm here to listen to your heart," April said, she took out her stethoscope and stared listing to Cece's heart. "Still weak."

"Dr. Kepner, when was the last time you had sex?" Cece asked out of nowhere.

April was shocked by Cece's question that the dropped her stethoscope out of her hand; "Excuse me?" I'd rather not talk about that."

"Does it bother you to imagine Dr. Avery having sex with his new girlfriend?" Cece asked.

"I know they're having sex, and I just don't want to talk about it," April said.

"You do know that Dr. Grey hired me as her matchmaker," Cece said.

"Yes, I do," April said.

"I can be at your disposal, too. What are you looking for in a man, Dr. Kepner?" Cece asked.

"I don't know," April said, trying to avoid answer answering Cece's question.

"Or does the man have to have first daddy's approval?" Cece asked.

"My father passed away, recently" April told her.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," Cece said.

"I'm done here again, April said, she walked to the door and left the door. "Bye Cece."

Amelia and Jenna were back with Fred and both had explained the situation.

"So I have a clot in my heart and also tumor?" Fred asked.

"Which isn't malignant yet," Jenna said.

"But we can prevent it altogether if we remove it now," Amellia said.

"And you can't operate on me at the same time?" Fred asked.

"The tumor is close to your heart, there won't be enough room for the two of us to operate on you, Jenna said.

"So I have to choose between the two of you?"

"I guess that's what it comes down to," Amelia said.

"I don't know yet, I just want to get my head together and think about it," Fred said.

"I understand Fred, take your time, We'll hear from you, Amelia said.

Amelia and Jenna left the room. Without Jenna noticing, Amelia walked back to Fred's room

"Dr. Shepherd."

Amelia grabbed a chair and sat down by Fred's bed; "Listen Fred, I think it's in your best interest to have that tumor removed."

"But you said yourself that it's not malignant yet, And that clot in my heart is already pretty big, so maybe it's better if Dr. Wyatt removes it first."

"Fred, you know I'm good. I've successfully removed your tumor before, right?"

"That's true, but are you telling me that Dr. Wyatt is not good?" Fred asked.

"She's just new here, you and I we've known each other longer, we have a good relationship and trust anyway," Amelia said.

"I trust you Dr. Shepherd, but I also trust Dr. Wyatt," Fred said.

"But you trust me a little bit more, right?" She asked.

"Yes, I guess," Fred said.

"So you're choosing to let me take out the tumor first?"

"I trust you, so if you say take it out first, I will go along with your judgment," Fred said.

"Good, then let's get it done," Amelia said.

Amelia got up and left Fred's room again, and further down the hall Jenna stood with her arms crossed and she didn't look happy.

"What were you doing in there?"

"Talking to the patient", Amelia said. "Oh and he chooses to have that tumor removed first, so you're no longer needed on this case."

"You're unbelievable, you talked down to Fred," Jenna said.

"He trusts me and my judgment," Amelia said, as she started to walk away.

"You're undermining me," Jenna said.

Amelia turned to Jenna; "No, I'm not."

"Do you think this is some sort of a contest? Do you think you won or something?" Jenna asked.

"I don't have time for this, I have an operation to prepare for, Amelia said.

Jenna watched Amelia walk away, she sighed deeply hard out of frustration, then Jenna saw Alex standing and walked over to him; Chief can I talk to you for a minute?

"I don't have a whole lot of time Dr. Wyatt, Alex said.

"But it's very urgent, Jenna said.

"What do you want to talk about, Alex said.

"Maybe you should look at this first, if I explain it you'll understand it better, Jenna said, handing Alex to table with Fred's CT scan.

Jackson had sat down with Aamir and told him about Rafi's case. "He has cancer?" Aamir asked.

"We caught it early. That is good news," Jackson said.

"But we had it biopsied more than once," Aamir said.

"Yes, I understand, and things can change. They mutate, and if the specimen is not taken from a cancerous area, then it goes undetected," Jackson said. "Now, I can remove the scapula entirely and take the cancer with it. Or I can just remove the growths, which would mean he'd require radiation treatments, which can be dangerous in a child this young."

"His mom died in childbirth. He's all I have," Amir said.

"If I remove the scapula, he is going to have severely limited range of motion. His prosthetic's gonna have to be replaced as he grows. But the cancer will be gone. Okay? He'll live."

Aamir thanked Jackson. Jackson put his hand on Aamir's shoulder as he tried to comfort the father and suddenly he got an idea.

Arizona was sitting in the Attending's Lounge going over her plan for the surgery while she was enjoying her donut, the door opened and April walked in.

"I believe my patient is telling me that I need sex."

Arizona almost choked on her donut; "What? Who said that?"

"Cece, April replied, as she walked down to the coffee machine and made herself some coffee.

"That matchmaker, trying to help Meredith get a guy?" Arizona asked.

April grabbed her coffee and walked over to the table and sat down with Arizona. "Yeah, she, I think she's picked me as her next client."

"Do you need sex?" Arizona asked.

"I'm really not thinking about sex right now," April said.

"Are you sure about that?" Arizona asked.

I don't need sex, I have other things on my mind, my new position as Head of Trauma," April said, she took a sip of her coffee and looked at what Arizona was working on. "What are you doing?"

"Going over my surgical plan, this is about the Ramsey couple," Arizona said. "I absolutely can't let this couple down."

"I will pray for you and hope that your surgery will go well, April said to her best friend.

"Thank you, Arizona said.

"No problem," April said.

"And maybe you should listen to that Cece anyway, Maybe you need some sex," Arizona said with a teasing voice.

"Arizona!" April said, Arizona playfully sticking her tongue out at April.

"Just teasing you, I needed that a little bit," Arizona said.

"Better watch out, or I'll tell Cece about you and that she needs to find someone for you, April said, she stood up and left the Attending's lounge again.

DeLuca, Schmitt and Helm were working in the pit, suddenly one of the machine started beeping rapidly. One of the nurse gave a young girl an oxygen mask. "What the hell happened?" DeLuca asked as he walked over to the girl

"Uh, M-Molly Graham. 19 years old. Asthmatic. I gave her two nebulizers and a shot of Solu-Medrol. I'm monitoring her sats.

"No, you're not! She's tachypneic. Her sats are in the 80' s," DeLuca said. She's decompensating, okay? She's not moving any air around. Okay, we're gonna have to intubate. Prep for RSI."

"Don't we need an attending?" Helm asked.

"Do you see one?"

"I'll, I'll get Webber," Schmitt said as he started to run.

"Okay. Hang in there for me, Molly, okay?" DeLuca said. "Let's go, Helm. Let's go."

DeLuca and Helm started working on Molly. Schmitt and Webber walked in. DeLuca managed to get Molly stable, Helm took out her stethoscope.

"No. Helm, I got it," DeLuca said, he took out his stethoscope and stared listing, he looked up and saw Dr. Webber standing. "She was about to code, I didn't think you would want me waiting for you."

"You were right. But next time, try including your intern. This is a teaching hospital, Webber said.

Amelia was sitting in the Attending's Lounge, Alex and Jenna walked in. "Hey Chief, she greeted.

"Dr. Shepherd, I'm here to inform you that your surgery is off," Alex told her.

"What?"

"Dr. Wyatt will do her surgery, as her case has a higher priority," Alex said.

"But…"

And that's final, Alex said, he looked down at his watched and saw that he was late. I've too go now. Alex walked out the attending's lounge. Jenna turned to Amelia who started at her with an angry look.

"You thief!"

"I'm not a thief, I'm a surgeon," Jenna said.

Amelia clearly didn't like Jenna's comment; "Think you're funny?"

"You think you're doing a good job right now as a surgeon? Jenna asked. I'll let you know how the surgery went. Without saying another word Jenna left the attending's lounge to get ready for her surgery.

Jackson was with Alex and Jo telling them about his idea to help with Rafi's cancer.

"Radiation? I told you it'll fry his lung," Alex said.

"And the bone's already out," Jo said.

"Extracorporeal radiation. The bone is already out, so we can do the radiation outside the body, crank up that dose as high as we want, basically like putting it in a microwave. It doesn't hurt him, kills the cancer."

"And all the healthy cells," Alex said.

"But that won't matter. We replace the scapula, and the framework's there for new cells to grow back," Jo said.

"Exactly. It gives us a better match than any prosthetic ever could," Jackson said. "We re-attach the ligaments in their natural position, minimal loss of movement."

"And no more surgeries," Alex said.

"Can we do this thing?" Jackson asked.

"Hell yeah. Let's move," Alex said.

Jackson put the bones in a bag and took it to the radiation room, while Alex and Jo kept working on Rafi. A few moments later the radiation was done and Jackon took the bone back to the or and Jo placed it back.

Arizona was in the OR with Parker, Arizona was in full focus, Parker was watching the monitor.

"Heart rate looked good," Parker said.

"And the baby's?" Arizona asked.

"No abnormality, his heart rate is also fine," Parker told her

"Good, Eye on the screen now, we're close to the fetus, Dr. Parker," Arizona told him.

"Yes, Dr. Robbins."

"We've reached the fetus, I see his hand, Okay, I need absolute concentration now," she said. Arizona took another deep breath and focusing on the image, she began to remove the strands that were around the baby's hand. "Parker, the baby's heartbeat?"

"That still looks good Doctor, you can just keep going, Parker said, he took a look at the monitor of the mother. And that mother's heart rate is still stable.

"Great," Arizona said.

"Shall I get the echo ready for when you're done removing?" Parker asked.

"Yes, do that Parker," she replied.

"Parker turned on the echo machine and was ready to use, Arizona had cut the last strand and carefully removed had device.

"And we are ready, Arizona said, she turned to her intern. Parker the ultrasound please.

"Yes, Doctor.

Parker handed the transducer to Arizona and she placed it on Piper's belly and looked at the baby; The baby's hand looks good.

"That's good news."

"Parker, bring Piper to the recovery room please."

Right away, Dr. Robbins."

Meredith and Bailey were back in Nina's room again and they still weren't able to find out what's wrong with her. "Unfortunately, we've exhausted every test that we can think of, Bailey said. Nina sighed she took a sandwich from her bag and started eating. Do, do you understand what I'm saying?"

"I understand, Nina said. But I don't accept. I don't accept your failure to diagnose me, and I won't accept discharge papers, either. So I'm gonna eat my sandwich."

"Uh..., Bailey sighed, she haned her tablet to Meredith and walked over to Nina. Nina, w-we've run out of tests."

"Then find new tests. Invent them. Take care of me. That is your job, she cried. I can't keep living like this. I can't keep being told it's in my head when I know that it's not. I can't keep being told that I'm crazy when I'm not crazy. If you don't help me, I'm gonna kill myself. And then all those doctors who said it was in my head will be right. But they're not right. I know there's something wrong with m..."

Nina started to groan, Meredith put down the tablet and walked over to Nina.

"Nina?

"Okay. What is it?" What is it? Bailey asked.

"Stomach!"

Meredith and Bailey took a look around her stomach.

Jenna finished her surgery, she passed by Amelia; "I wanted to let you know that Fred's surgery was successful."

"You went to the chief and snitched?"

"I did what was necessary," Jenna told her.

"By being a snitch?" Amelia said.

"That blood clot will eventually cause a blockage to the rest of the organs and that would have led to Fred's death," Jenna said.

"You stole my surgery," Amelia said.

"The tumor was in an area outside of Neuro, so you weren't even needed at all," Jenna said.

"That doesn't matter, I can remove the tumor and Fred trusts me," Amelia said.

"You took advantage his trust."

"That's not true, I wanted what was best for him," Amelia said.

"Then you also know that getting rid of that blood clot first was best, You know that to be true, but for some reason you don't agree with me, Why is that?"

"You just come in here and already you act like you know everything about this hospital," Amelia said.

"I was doing my job, I was doing my job as Head of Cardio," Jenna said. "And I don't know what your problem with me is, but don't let that get in the way of doing your job."

Meredith and Bailey were still in Nina's room, Bailey was listing to Nina's stomach."

"Ow. That hurts."

"I know. Just try to relax, okay," Meredith said. "Do you hear something?"

"A swooshing sound?" Baily said, but still not being sure about it.

"Like her sandwich digesting?"

"More like a vascular bruit, Baily said. "Um, here. Let's try the ultrasound."

Meredith turned on the ultrasound, Bailey put the gel on Nina's stomach. Meredith put it on Nina's stomach and took a look.

"And to the right," Bailey said. I'm gonna press. She gently pressed on Nina's stomach and she started to groan.

"Aah! Ow."

"Sorry, sorry, sorry. Uh, take a deep breath for me, Bailey said, Nina did what Bailey said and took a deep breath, after that Baily told her to exhale and Nina exhale slowly. "There."

"The median arcuate ligament," Meredith said.

"You've got MALS, Bailey told Nina. A ligament is wrapped tightly around your celiac artery. It expands when you eat. You know, no one's found it because you always fast before your visits, Bailey said. We can go in laparoscopically, cut it. Takes 20 minutes."

DeLuca was standing at the nurse station and Webber walked up to him.

"Alright, Dr. Webber, uh, beds 3 and 4 are ready to be discharged, and neuro's on its way to check the CHI in bed , but I did a preliminary check, and I think he's okay. "

"Bed 3 is Helm's patient, and 4 is Schmitt's," Webber said.

"Yeah, well, you said show some initiative, so...," DeLuca began.

"Initiative doesn't mean doing everything yourself," Webber said.

"Look, do you have some kind of problem with me, Dr. Webber?" DeLuca asked.

"Oh, far from it. I consider you a friend," Webber asked.

"A friend? He asked. You've been on my ass all day for nothing. I haven't made a single mistake. I picked up everybody else's slack. So, if there's some lesson, please enlighten me."

"I don't need a friend in the E.R., DeLuca. I need doctors who not only can give patients the best possible care, but teach others to do the same. That's what separates residents from attendings, Webber said. Don't get mad at me for thinking you've got it in you," he said.

Jackson was with Aamir standing outside of Rafi's room.

"So he is going to be okay?" Aamir asked.

"He is going to be fine," Jackson told him. "He'll feel some pain in the beginning, but is going to be fine."

"Thank you so much for doing this Jackson," Aamir said.

"No, problem captain," Jackson said.

April walked down the hallway and past Cece's room. "Dr. Kepner would you come here for a moment please?" She asked.

April walked towards Cece's room; "Is something wrong Cece?"

"I wanted to say sorry, I know I can be pushy, but you all take such good care and I want to thank you," Cece said.

"This is our job Cece," April told her.

Come here," Cece said, April said down on the edge of Cece's bed, Cece took her hand and look at her. "You are a beautiful, kind and smart woman and you deserve to be happy in love too, but not for now."

"No, right now I don't need a new relationship," April told her.

"If you ever change your mind."

"I know who to come to, April said.

And where you can find me. I'm not out of here yet, not for a long time," Cece said.

"Thank you, Cece," April said.

"You're welcome, child," Cece said.

April got back up and left Cece's room again and she actually felt a lot better after conversation.

Parker had paged Arizona that Piper had regained consciousness, Arizona went to her room.

"And?" Piper asked.

"The surgery was successful," Arizona told the partens.

"Really? No problems at all?" Darren asked.

"There were no problems, your baby is fine," Arizona said.

Piper and her husband sighed of relief, "Thank goodness."

"Everything looks good. We'll schedule another ultrasound in two weeks," Arizona said.

"Okay, Dr. Robbins," Piper said.

"But everything's really okay with our son now, he won't lose his hand?" Darren asked.

"Your son won't lose his hand. Of course, he'll need some help with his hand use at first, but with proper physical therapy, that shouldn't be a problem. And I can give you a list of physical therapists who specialize in conditions like your son's."

"Thank you that's very kind of you," Darren said.

"No problem," Arizona said.

"And we've come up with a name for him now, and we kind of named him after you, Dr. Robbins," Piper told Arizona.

"After me?" Arizona asked.

"His name is Phoenix," Piper said.

"That's very sweet of you, Arizona said, trying to hold back the tears.

"And once he is born he is going to fine? His hand is going to be fine? Darren asked.

"He's gonna experience a little pain for a while and like I said he will have to do physical therapy, but, yeah, everything looks good.

Piper and Darren thanked Arizona and Parker again and the two doctors left the room.

Bailey was sitting in the skills lab, Meredith walked in; Hey. I scheduled Nina's laparoscopy for first thing tomorrow.

"Great," Bailey said.

"Are you worried about the laparoscopy Dr. Bailey?" Meredith asked.

"I'm not worried about that," Bailey told her.

"What is it?" Meredith asked.

"Okay. Process of elimination. I have systematically removed stressors from my life, less coffee, more exercise, better food. I'm still stressed. I've taken on fewer patients. Still stressed. So I took the extreme measure of stepping back from the job I have spent my entire career working for. And even though Alex Karev now has all that stress, I'm still stressed. So if I'm rational, if I'm scientific, I must look elsewhere for the source of that stress."

"What else is there? Meredith asked.

"My husband... is a firefighter. I haven't heard from him today. And when I don't hear from him, I don't breathe.

Meredith said nothing, she simpley put her arms around Bailey and hugged her.

"Ben Warren adores you and he's going to be fine," Meredith said.

"Good work today, Grey," Bailey told Meredith.

The day was over the 4 interns were sitting at Joe's drinking;" I've a feeling Dr. Kepner wasn't too happy with me today."

"Maybe you shouldn't have told Cece about her ex-husband having a girlfriend," Helm said.

"Yeah, that wasn't very smart of me, I've to admit that," Diego turned to Parker. "From what I heard, you had a good day."

"Yeah, you and Dr. Robbins making sure a fetus won't lose its hand," Helm said.

"It's quite the experience," Parker told his fellow interns.

"I can tell you the ER was busy today. Oh, I hope Dahlia gets better soon," Schmitt sighed.

"Me, too," Helm said.

Schmitt had gotten up to go pee, When he finished and walked back to the bar he saw Tate standing by the dart board and he saw Schmitt.

"Hey you," Tate greeted.

"What are you doing here?

"I'm here to have a drink, Tate said showing Schmitt his bottle that now only half filled with beer.

"Does Dr. Nolan know you're here? Shouldn't you be with him to take care of him? Schmitt asked.

"I've been taking care of him all day and told myself I can go have some fun now," Tate said, he walked up to the dart board and grabbed the darts. "Wanna play?" Holding up the darts.

"What?"

"Darts, you know, the game where you have to throw the darts into the board.

"I know how the game works," Schmitt told him.

"Well then let's play a game against each other, Tate said, he then looked at Schmitt with his most flirty look he had. And we can make it more fun, too?"

"Meaning what?" Schmitt asked.

"If you win three games, I owe you a drink, but if I win, you owe me a drink," Tate said. "So how about it, do we have a deal?"

"Okay, deal, Schmitt said.

"Bring it on then," Tate said, he handed Schmitt is darts and the two started playing.
