Family woman part 5
Santana woke up this morning by Buddy liking her face. She pushes the dog away and turns to put her arms around her blonde. Quinn moans feeling the little kisses of her wife in her neck.
"Good morning." She mumbles in her pillow.
"Good morning." Smiles Santana in her neck. God, how she loves to do that. She smirks. "It's still early, I thought maybe we could have time to get our mack-" And she didn't have the time to finish her sentence before hearing little feet running up to their room. "-on."
Both women smiles when two monsters jump on their bed. Santana, a big smile on her face this time being used to it, sits up and grab Alex to kiss all around her face. She was screaming and laughing while her brother was cuddling their other mother.
Santana stopped and looked at this little family, the dog at their foot, and couldn't imagine anything better.
After the morning cuddles, Santana got out of bed, putting on her robe and exited the room, barefoot down the stairs. She walked in the kitchen and turned on the coffee machine. While Quinn was getting the kids ready, Santana got the bottle for Aiden from the fridge, threw it in the microwave, removed it and headed back upstairs.
"I got used to this routine really fast." She mumbled, smiling.
Once she got into the baby's room, she saw Aiden wide awake, sitting up in his crib, waiting for his mothers. She laughed at his excited face seeing her and took him to give him his bottle.
Just before he finished, Quinn came into the room and pecked Santana on the lips before saying hello to her baby. Santana smiled at the sight before leaving the mother and son to get back downstairs where her two kids were waiting for her.
She began to prepare their breakfast and mixed a glass of chocolate milk. The kids with their arms folded, waiting expectantly. Once she finished, she gave the glass to the twins and watched them intently.
Alex took a long sip, puts the glass down, a chocolate milk mustache on her lip. "Not bad." She told her mother while her brother was sipping it, unperturbed and getting up the stairs to go see his other mommy. Alex looked to the side at the calendar and pointed at it.
Santana turned her head and a shocked look appeared on her face. In a week, the Friday was circled in red with "Wedding anniversary" on it. "I should warn you." Began Alex. "Mami has always something really special for their anniversary."
The brunette turned to look at the little girl, a frown on her face. "Like what?"
"One year, she had a star named after her." Continued the kid.
Santana snorted while pouring her coffee in a mug. "Don't you think that's a little gimmicky?"
The girl shrugged. "Mommy liked it."
"Oh. Okay then." Santana wanted to think about it, but a week seemed far away when she didn't know when this life was going to end. Is she even gonna be there? She thought.
Inside the bedroom, Adrian was holding his little brother on the bed while the both of them watched their mother getting dressed.
Quinn walked out of the closet turned to them, holding two tops on hangers. "The black one or the blue one."
Adrian frowned and seemed to think really hard about it, taking it very seriously, his head going back and forth between the two before he smiled. "The black one."
Quinn looked at it and nodded. "Good choice." Which made her boy smile really hard, proud of making his mom proud. "What do you want to do today baby?"
Adrian shrugged, playing calmly with his baby brother. "I don't know. I kind of want to stay in if that's okay. It's too cold outside."
The blonde grinned and kissed both of the top of their heads. "Sure. If that's what you want." While Alex loved to play outside in the snow, Adrian was not a big fan of it. Kinda preferred to stay in with a warm chocolate milk in front of a fire with his mom. Speaking of the devil, Quinn heard two laughs outside and went up to the window to see Santana in the backyard, in her pajamas but with a big coat, laughing with joy, playing in the snow with a really covered Alex.
The blonde watches the scene, a satisfied smile sweeping across her face…
Santana reaches out and snags Annie while she cackles in delight. The two of them fall over onto the soft white snow.
The laughter from the two of them uncontrollable, with joy palpable.
Finally, Alex stops laughing and grabs Santana around the neck, hugging her extra tight, whispering in her ear. "I knew you'd come back." A simple sentence that brings Santana to tears.
They all spend the whole day together, laughing, playing, and just enjoying time together, Santana being the happiest she ever was. At the end of it, while all the kids were sleeping, the two women where quietly cuddling on the couch, watching the fire in the fireplace.
Santana pecked Quinn's shoulder and put her head on it. "You're thinking too loudly." Whispered Quinn with a smile, making Santana chuckle.
"Sorry." She said. She paused a few seconds. "Have you ever imagined a different life than this?" She asked.
Quinn frowned and turned herself to get a better look at her wife. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, have you ever thought about what your life would have been if I stayed in London or even if we never met each other?"
The blonde seemed to think about it a few moments before speaking again. "To be honest, yes. When you were in London, I thought of what my life could be without you." Santana looked at her, urging her to continue. "I've thought about a life easier than this. Where I didn't have to worry about the one hundred and two payments we still had to pay to really own the house. Where I could have whatever, I wanted to have in a snap of the fingers because I would be really rich. Or even a life where everything was simple because I wouldn't have to worry about too many things."
Santana acquiesced. "It's wonderful…" She muttered, looking down, feeling oh so very bad.
Quinn nodded and chuckled. "Yeah, it is." She paused and caressed Santana's cheek to make her wife look at her. "I thought about the kind of person I'd be if I hadn't married you." They looked intensely into each other.
"And…?" Santana urged the blonde who smiled and continued.
"And I realize I've just erased the things in my life I'm most sure about." She paused again and made sure that Santana was really listening for this part. "You. And the kids."
Santana nodded and looked into her eyes. "Good things."
"And you, what are you sure about?"
The brunette kissed her wife and whispered against her lips. "I'm sure that right now there's nowhere I'd rather be than here with you…"
Quinn smiled at Santana against her lips, a loving, secure smile.
After a really, really, really great mack on that continued into something more, Quinn went to sleep while Santana took Buddy for a walk. And after a few minutes, in the middle of their path, Santana saw a figure. She first was a bit scared and backed off a little bit, Buddy putting himself between them and growling. But then, she squinted and saw the man. The jacket man. 'Her guardian angel.'
"No. No." Santana shook her head, the colors draining from her face. "I'm not going back!"
"It's good to see you Santana, but you don't have this choice."
"So what? This is fucked up. I already told you. You can't do that to people. It's not fair."
"I've looked at you. You've really figured things out, huh?"
"Yes, that's why you cannot send me back to my old life. Not after all of this. Do you understand?" She continued to shake her head, slowly backing off. "You can't do this. You can't keep coming in and out of people's lives, messing things up…"
"Trust me, after this life you will have an important decision to make. Do not mess up. And maybe you will have this back."
"What?" Santana frowned, not understanding.
"Just enjoy this last night." He winked.
"No. I said no. You're not going to do this." She retreated and went back from where she came.
"Hey! What are you doing?" He called.
"I've got a family, I'm going home. I'm staying!" She called back, not wanting him to see her crying.
Once she got home, she released Buddy who directly went up the stairs to go sleep in one of the kid's rooms. Santana put out her coat and shoes and followed him. She walked into Aiden's room where he was sleeping soundly and kissed gently the top of his head, careful not to wake him.
She did the same thing with Alex and then Adrian who stirred, groggy. "Is it morning yet?" He asked.
"No, baby. Go back to sleep." She caressed the top of his head. She looked at him for a few seconds, then closing her eyes, sadness all over her face. "I love you." She whispered before going into her room to find Quinn in bed, reading.
She looked up from her book and smiled. "Hey."
Santana smiled back, trying not to seem too sad, a difficult task and changer in her pajamas. She got in bed and took Quinn's hands, looking deep into her eyes. "I need you to remember me, Quinn. I need you to remember this life, our kids, this moment and most of all, the love that I have for you. I need you to put that image in your heart and keep it with you, no matter what happens."
Quinn frowned and put her hand on her wife's cheek. "Are you okay, baby?"
Santana shook her head and took back Quinn's hand into hers. "Just promise me that you'll do that. Please. I need you to promise me. I can't live the fact that you don't remember this life we have together."
Still a bit confused, but more in love than ever, Quinn nodded. "I promise Santana."
"Promise me gain."
"I promise." Santan then leaned in and kissed Quinn like it was the last time ever. Because maybe it was.
They both lied down, and Quinn fell asleep. But Santana stayed awake as much as she could, holding her and watching her sleep, a broken look in her eyes. As she continues to watch her, to listen to her breath, trying to remember as much little detail as she could, her own eyes started to grow heavy. She tried to fight it as much as she could but still fell asleep.
When Santana opened her eyes again, she felt submerged by too many things. Too many lights, too many noises, a ringing in her ears. She was in an office that she recognized, the one of her first boss in London, in a chair, in front of him who was behind his desk.
She looked around her frantically, not understanding what she was doing here before her eyes fell on a newspaper on this desk. With a buzz all around her, she succeeded in working out what was the date on it.
December 12th, 2016.
2016?
Wha-what?
In 2016 Santana was 26, not 33 like she should be.
2016 was the year when she chose to stay in London for another promot-
"Santana?!"' Her first boss yelled at her.
"What?" The brunette snapped out of her thoughts, still lost in everything happening right now.
"Did you just hear at least a word of what I just said?"
Wow. Santana thought. He looks exactly like she remembered. "Uh. I'm sorry, no. Can you repeat please?"
He chuckled. "I said that what you did here in just a year is amazing. We can't lose you. So, I'm offering you a promotion. You'll stay in London, but this job will come with a very good raise and many advantages." He winked. "Money, driver, penthouse… Name it you have it."
Santana thought back to her dream, or other life, whatever you want to call it, but more importantly to her last conversation with her "guardian angel". "Trust me, after this life you will have an important decision to make. Do not mess up. And maybe you will have this back." That's what he said.
The Latina blinked. She already lived this moment once in 2016. This is the moment she chose her career over Quinn. This is the moment she decided to stay.
Maybe she was reliving this moment because this was her second chance. This was her second chance in life. This was her second chance at choosing Quinn and the life they could have with their kids!
She had the chance to see her two lives. One with Quinn and one without her. Now, she had the chance to choose the one she wanted.
"Santana, I understand that this is an important decision to make so if you need time I can-"
"No." Santana cut him.
He smirked. "I knew you couldn't resist. I knew you didn't need time to accept it. You and I understand each other, both driven by their ambition. I can see a bit a myself in you."
"Um no not as in I don't need time to accept, but no as in I don't need time to refuse." She repeated herself.
"Wha-what?"
"I don't want this promotion. So, I'm flattered but I will have to refuse."
"Bu-but this is not an opportunity you should let go."
Santana smiled softly. "I know. But I got someone waiting for me at home. And this is an even more important opportunity that I can't let go."
This is the end! I really hope you liked it!
To be honest I hesitated between three endings. One happy (this one), one mid and one really sad. But for this one I wanted it to be a happy ending!
So, tell me if you liked it and tell me if you want to see another adventure of Quinn and Santana in another universe!
Love
A
