Chapter Twenty:
Weighing in With The Mario Bros
He walked along 1993 Mushroom Road, half a mile from the main districts of the city, taking in the fresh air and everything around him. Waluigi thought hard about special Smash moves, his own potential, and what the people he'd met or hadn't met already had.
The lonely lanky Wah-man saw a blue Inkling boy pave a lawn with his ink, then he transformed into a Ink-Kraken and flew towards an orange Inkling girl, who shrieked and ran. And then, Waluigi watched as Captain Falcon, a few blocks away, unleashed a super-charged version of his Falcon Punch on a Goomba and sent him flying.
"Everywhere I look and see." Waluigi muttered to himself, "I see people with special moves and they've been accepted into Smash, some getting lucky more so than others. And yet, I'm not one of the lucky ones."
His heart roiled with more sorrow and rage and Waluigi fought to hold back a tear, he looked around and saw Ness unleashing some special electric power that took out a tree, which fell atop The Villager, a well-known Animal Crossing resident and an infamous serial killer. He watched Fox cross the street in a happy mood, then he saw Peach bump a man resembling Mario.
Waluigi heard laughing and whooping from above and looked up, seeing Luigi, flying through the air with a gleeful smile until he was struck by a torrent of water, courtesy of Mario with the sentient E. Gadd water hose known as F.L.U.D.D.
"YEAH, HA-HA-HA!" Mario cried, "WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"Hey, you!" Waluigi called.
"Yes?" Mario asked while Luigi tended to his own soaked clothes.
"Give me that machine you just used to hit your brother." The Wah man said, "I want a special move and I could use one."
Mario thought about that, then Waluigi made an anime-ish noise, and then, the fat Italian unleashed F.L.U.D.D's watery ammo upon the lanky Wah man, spraying him in the face. Waluigi tripped and fell over, his nose dripping wet along with his cap. Mario broke out laughing until Waluigi angrily shot to his feet, then he grabbed a bomb from his inventory and threw it at the fat Italian.
The bomb soared towards Mario, who jumped to the side and barely avoided the bomb as it exploded next to him, sending him crashing into a tree. Mario grunted as he made impact with the tree and rubbed his head while struggling to his feet, feeling dazed from the blast and the force of his impact.
"Nice special move you just did, Waluigi." Mario said with a groan.
"Wah? 'Special move'? Oh, wow." Waluigi quipped sarcastically, Maybe this can be my 'special move'!"
"You can be just like those guys over there." Mario gestured to a pair of random people, who were yelling nonsense at one another. Waluigi, who knew he was being sarcastic while Mario failed to pick up on that, growled in frustration and the beast in his heart began to coil around his soul, sensing the event horizon that was coming.
"I don't think bombs should be part of your special move, Waluigi." Luigi said, "Honestly, I have always pictured you as sort of a dancer. You look like you could be a pretty good dancer and I have seen you dance before."
"Dancing, eh?" Waluigi chuckled and imagined four versions of himself dancing, then he laughed with glee and started dancing in a goofy manner with not much grace in his moves.
"Look at me go!" He cried, "I'm bad! Wah-ha-ha! Yahoo! Ha-ha, move! Go, Waluigi!"
"Oh, let me join in!" Luigi exclaimed, enjoying the sight of his counterpart dancing, he started doing some jigs and twirled around while saying, "Go, Weegee. Go, Weegee. Go, Weegee!"
Just then, the lanky Italian glowed and time began to slow down around everyone in the neighborhood. Waluigi and Mario looked around in shock, neither of them expected a scene like this to happen. King Dedede, Kirby's nemesis, came by, noticed what was going on and began to dance a jig as he cried, "I DON'T KNOW WHY, BUT I GOTTA DANCE! Dance, dance, DANCE!"
"Luigi slows down time when he dances, for some reason..." Mario remarked, "Can you do something like that, Waluigi? Waluigi?"
He trailed off, seeing that the Wah man had vanished. Luigi stopped dancing and time returned to normal, they caught sight of Waluigi heading down an empty street corner, free of other people roaming about, heading towards a house. Feeling concern for him, both Mario and Luigi followed after the estranged lanky Italian crook…
