Brooke took slow breaths as she let go of the pillow. As she felt her lower half begin to become numb. Her legs were carefully placed in the stirrups. Her upper body covered by the gown her lower half exposed. Covered by a simple sheet.

The delivery room had bright lights. A soundtrack for labor. And an all consuming lavender scent that calmed her.

She followed Karen's instructions with breathing technique.

While Lucas remained by her side as well. Holding her focus object.

The most recent ultrasound picture framed.

Brooke tried to push the pain she felt away. As the contractions came in waves that felt as if she was being torn in two.

Karen whispered words of encouragement.

Lucas fed her ice chips. Wiped the sweat from her face.

Brooke felt her hands grab onto Lucas and Karen.

When the doctor announced. She saw the baby 's head.

Brooke felt her body fully come apart as she bared down harder than she ever had.

Her scream filled the room. As she caught her breath. And laid back.

Brooke and Lucas 's gaze locked on their daughter.

The infant cried strong and healthy.

Brooke couldn't stop the tears that fell as she felt her daughter get placed in her arms.

Brooke and Lucas had felt this unwavering force of unconditional love.

Their daughter was perfect. Beautiful.

Brooke eventually handed their daughter to Lucas.

His face softened and his entire demeanor shifted.

When Karen got her turn to hold the bundle of love and joy she looked to them.

(What is my granddaughter 's name?) Karen asked. Tears welling in her eyes.

(Salem Scott.) Brooke said.

(It means. Peaceful. Safe. Complete.) Lucas replied.
