Unexpected Situations
Chapter 12 All About Baby
-Regina's POV-
It's finally the weekend, and Emma and I have much to discuss. I want to look at getting furniture for the nursery, a carrier, start getting clothes, and, most importantly, pick out a name. I already have some ideas, but I want to run it by Emma first. I finally made it home, and I felt weak. I walked over to the couch, lay down, and took out my phone to text Emma.
Me: Where are you?
Emma: Finishing up my patrol. Why?
Me: I'm feeling weak. I'm at home lying on the couch.
Emma: I'm on my way! Don't move!
Me: Okay, I love you.
Emma: Love you, too.
I turned my phone to the sleep screen and closed my eyes. I heard the door open and then close.
"I'm home." Henry called out, and I replied, "How was school?"
"It was fine." He dropped his book sack and saw me on the couch. "Mom!" He ran up to me and sat on the couch beside me. "Are you feeling okay?"
I took his hand and replied, "Yes, Henry, I'm alright. I feel a little weak, but Ma is on her way."
He touched my belly, and the baby moved to where his hand was. We smiled, and he started talking to her.
"Hey, little sis, it's bubby. I had a good day at school, but I missed you. I miss talking to you. I can't wait to see you and get to hold you. I love you."
Damn it! I'm crying! "Mom? Are you alright?"
"I just love it when you talk to her," I said, wiping the tears away.
The door opened, and Emma walked in. "I'm home."
I looked her way, and Henry said, "Hi, Ma!"
"Hey, kid," she ruffled his hair and asked me, "How are you feeling?"
"Weak. I need you."
She said, "Sit up a little so you can rest your head on my lap."
I did what she said and rested my head on her lap when she sat down. She held my hand, and I immediately felt her magic course through me. I sighed in relief.
"While I have both of you in the living room, I wanted to talk to you both about names for the baby."
"Oh! Mom, I wanted to give you a name that I liked."
Emma and I smiled, and I asked, "Okay, what name do you have in mind?"
"Lauren Elizabeth."
Emma looked at me and nodded. "I like it. It's a good name."
"I like it, too. Here are my thoughts. I thought about Isabella Eva, but then I wanted to use my middle name, Katherine, as part of her name. I also wanted to ask you, Emma, your middle name."
"Grace, wait, how about combining our middle names for her name?"
I smiled, squeezed her hand, and said, "That's exactly what I wanted to do."
Henry began thinking out loud. "So, Grace Katherine or Katherine Grace."
Emma said, "I like Katherine Grace." Henry nodded. "Me, too."
"I do, too."
Henry began talking to my stomach, "What do you think, sis? Do you like Katherine Grace as your name?"
My stomach began to glow gold. Emma smiled and said, "I take it she likes it."
"Thanks for helping us out, Kat. Now, I can use your name when I talk to you."
I laughed because I could only imagine what she did when Henry talked to her. Hopefully, she will speak with Emma and me tonight when we sleep.
"Oh, Henry," I finally remembered something. "Could you get the laptop for me? I want to look at baby furniture for the nursery."
He went into my home office and grabbed the laptop. Emma took it, logged on, and started searching for nursery sets. After she searched on Google, I saw something that caught my eye.
"Click on that Bambi Baby website. I want to see what they have."
Emma clicked on the site, and it loaded, showing different cribs in different styles, from modern to elite. Henry sat next to Emma, and we all looked as Emma scrolled down.
"Oh, Ma, click on that one."
She clicked on it, and it was a dark brown with straight lines. I made a face, and Emma said, "I don't think Mom likes it too much, kiddo. Let's look at some others."
Emma continued to scroll down, and I pointed at the Sorelle models.
"Click in the search bar and search for the Sorelle Elite models."
After she typed in the information and hit enter, the furniture loaded, and I immediately saw the one I liked.
"Oh, Mom, look at the Princeton one."
"I like how the changing table is attached to it, but I don't like the style. I don't want dark colors. I want light colors."
"Like the Heathered Fog or White?" Emma asked, and I replied, "Yes, I don't want the dark browns, chocolate, or grays. It reminds me of a boy-type furniture."
"How about the Vista?" Henry pointed it out, and Emma clicked on it.
"Oh, I like that! I'll have to screenshot that on my phone later. Go back and click on the Finley."
Emma went back and then clicked on the one I wanted to see. I pointed to the one that had the three-piece set. When she saw the two thousand dollar price tag, Emma made a face and clicked on it anyway.
"Mom, I like that one. That's the best one I've seen."
"I know. I think it's perfect."
"Can't we look on Amazon for something similar and cheaper?"
I rolled my eyes and said, "Emma, I can afford this. This is what I want. If we look on Amazon, we won't find this."
"Want to bet?"
She opened a new tab and typed in the web address for Amazon. She searched for white baby furniture, which loaded many different options.
"Click on the Evolur Aurora 5-in-1 convertible crib."
"Ah!" Emma started, "We won't find anything I like on Amazon. I can afford this."
I rolled my eyes and sighed in frustration. "Shut up and click on it."
Henry said, "Mom, this is it. I think this one fits Katherine better than the other one. It also has an armoire, nightstand, six-drawer tall chest, and a dresser with a changing tray."
"Henry is right, babe. This screams Katherine—especially that armoire. It's fit for a princess."
These two were right. I love how it looked with the carved bow and the flowing ribbons on the head and footboard. It looked expensive, but it was only four hundred thirty-two dollars. The top drawer on the tall chest has two carved bows. Both drawers on the nightstand have two carved bows. The top drawer on the dresser has three carved bows. On top of the double doors on the armoire perfectly centered is the same carved bow design. Damn it, it's so beautiful and perfect for a little girl. Great! I'm crying again! Ugh, these pregnancy hormones!
"Mom? Are you crying again?"
"Put all of that in our cart. Shit! I hate crying over every little thing!"
Emma chuckled and said, "The joys of being pregnant. I did the same thing with Henry. I cried when the warden forgot to check my cell before lights out."
Henry and I looked at her, and she asked, "What? I was in jail for a crime I didn't commit and pregnant at the same time. Remember?"
We laughed and continued to search for more baby things.
-Emma's POV-
I liked looking at the different stuff for the baby. I have to say I'm getting anxious for Katherine to get here. We have over five thousand dollars worth of stuff in our cart, from nursery furniture, the lavender and gray demask pattern bedding for the crib, lavender and black carrier and matching stroller, and a cute outfit to bring Katherine home in. Regina paid for it, and I think my heart skipped six beats because of how much was spent, including taxes: over six thousand dollars! Oh no! She can afford it!
"What do you want for supper?"
Henry yelled, "Pizza!"
Regina got up, and she went to the bathroom. I ordered the pizza through the app, and Henry said, "Looking at baby stuff was fun. I can't wait until Kat gets here."
I wrapped my arm around him, kissed his head, and said, "You're going to be a great big brother, you know that."
Regina walked back into the room, and the doorbell rang. I got up, walked to the door, and opened it.
"I have a delivery for Emma Swan."
I took the boxes from the teenage boy and gave him ten dollars. "Thank you." He walked to his car, and I closed the door behind me.
"Supper's here!"
Henry ran into the dining room. I laughed as Regina rolled her eyes and followed me into the dining room.
"Henry, go get the paper plates, please."
He went into the pantry, grabbed three plates, and brought them to us. Henry took two slices of Meat Lovers, and Regina and I took two slices of Supreme.
"Mom, how much longer until Kat gets here?"
"Well, I'm 28 weeks now, so two more months."
Henry's head hit the table. "Ugh, you're killing me, Smalls!"
Regina and I laughed so hard that we almost spat out our pizza.
-Regina's POV-
Emma and I got into bed, and she touched my belly. Katherine moved to feel Emma's touch.
"Hey, baby girl. Are you laughing at me yet?"
I started laughing, and Emma shushed me. "I'm trying to talk to our daughter." I shook my head, and she continued, "We just spent a butt load of money for you. You will be living in style, kiddo. Bubby wishes you would be here now, but we know you still have much growing to do."
I put my hand on top of Emma's. "Emma, do you realize she will be here in two months?"
She kissed my belly, then took me in her arms. "I know. I can't wait! I can't wait until all the furniture comes in so I can set it up in her room."
"I have an idea for her room. I want to paint the walls a lavender or a light gray color. Could we start doing that soon? I want to get some paint samples to see what color I want."
"Do you want to go look for that tomorrow?"
"Sure." I yawned, and Emma scratched my back.
"Good night, Emma, I love you."
"Love you, too, babe."
-Dreamland-
I walked into the meadow wondering how Katherine would appear to me as an adult or an adorable little girl.
"Regina!" I turned to see Emma walking toward me. "I guess she wanted to see both of us."
"Mom? Ma?"
We turned around to see Henry walking our way.
"Where are we?"
Emma and I smiled, and Emma said, "Guess who wants to see us, kid?" I pointed behind him, and he turned to see his little sister in her adult form.
"Why am I seeing two of Mom?"
I started laughing, and Katherine said, "Hi, Bubby."
"Kat! Why do you look like Mom? Never mind, I see your eyes are green like Ma's."
"Don't worry; Mom and Ma had the same facial expression you had when they first saw me like this. I wanted to see all three of you. I love my name! I'm glad that all three of you picked it. It makes me feel loved."
"You are loved, sweetheart. I wanted to ask if you laugh at Bubby like you do with Ma when he talks to you."
She started laughing, and I said, "I knew it!"
"It depends on what he talks to me about. I like to hear how his day was, and he can't wait to hold me. Actually."
She walked over to Henry and hugged him.
"I still don't know how this is possible, but I like it."
"Magic, Bubby. It's all through Mom, Ma, and my magic. Do you know how powerful Mom and Ma are?"
Emma and I smiled at the interaction between Henry and Katherine. Emma took my hand and kissed it.
"I know they're very powerful because they created you through magic."
"Not just any magic, gold magic. Bubby, they can destroy any dark entity in existence. They can eliminate that bad man who tried to touch Mom's belly."
Emma and I looked at each other and then at Katherine. Henry said, "Kat, that bad man is my grandfather."
"I'm scared of him, Bubby. I don't trust him."
"Don't worry, sis, he won't do anything to you."
Emma added, "Mom and I will make sure he doesn't lay a finger on you."
Katherine yawned, and I wrapped my arms around her.
"Go to sleep, baby girl. We all had a long day, and it's time to get some rest."
Katherine and I sat down on the ground. She looked at Henry and said, "I can't hold on to you much longer. Good night, Bubby. I love you."
"Love you, too, Kat."
They embraced, and Henry disappeared. Emma sat beside us, and Katherine said, "I can't hold on to you much longer, Ma. I used a lot of magic to bring all three of you here."
"It's alright, baby girl. It's time for you to go to sleep. I love you."
"Love you, too."
Emma disappeared, and it was just Katherine and me.
"Mom."
"Yes, sweetheart."
"I'm so sorry that I keep draining your magic, making you weak. I don't mean to."
I kissed her forehead and said, "I told you once, and I'll tell you again. It's alright, my love. You are growing, and so is your magic. As long as I have Ma, we will be fine."
"I know. I'm still scared of that bad man. He has dark magic, very dark magic. Mom, he's dangerous."
"Katherine, sweetheart, I've dealt with this man many times before. He's actually afraid of you because of the gold magic."
She looked at me and said, "Mom, you and Ma have gold magic, too. How do you think I got it? When you and Ma's magic joined, it created the gold magic and me. You can't use it until I'm born."
She yawned again, and I hugged her. "Go to sleep, my love. You're tired."
She rested her head on my lap, closed her eyes, and said, "Good night, Mom. I love you."
"I love you, too, sweetheart."
She turned into a golden orb, floated to my belly, and went inside. I touched my stomach and smiled, and darkness took over, signaling we both went to sleep.
