During the beginning of a cold night, it was possible to see countless snowflakes dancing in the sky, graciously falling everywhere and everywhere. Shinpei Sakamoto, a young blue-haired boy wearing glasses and a heavy jacket was wandering through the streets, after he had spent some time playing at the arcade with his closest pals: Minoru Kobayakawa, Junichi Hashiba and Keigo Ishida.

At first, during the rest of the night, he'd thought he would end the day watching some anime or simply browsing his phone, scrolling down his social media. But before his field of vision there was a ravishing known beauty wearing a black sweater and jeans, although her psychological condition was as sad as a solitary bird who had broken its wings.

It was hard to believe that before his four-eyes there was a fragile, melancholic Ranko Honjo. Without any additional thought, he ran towards her and embraced her like it was the most natural reaction.

The tears were flowing through her beautiful face constantly. It'd make no sense to ask her anything, at least for some minutes. Since, she was in a clear need to vent without using words.

It was possible for him to feel her emotional pain. He already had an idea of the reason, but he would let her explain it herself.

Some extra minutes had passed by, and she was a bit calmer. Her light purple eyes caught his attention deeper For sure, Yukana Yame was a beautiful gal, but Ranko Honjo was also very charming and tantalizing even more than Junichi's girlfriend. She was more sensual, more iconic.

"So-sorry four-eyes, you must be tired to hold me, while I was crying like a toddler. "

Shinpei looked at her and denied her hypothesis.

"To be sincere, I am not tired, Ranko. You only cried during some minutes, I'm more worried about what made you feel this way, though."

She separated herself from him, and had a cute shy deep shade of red painting her cheeks.

It was possible to hear the happy sounds of children around them playing with snow, enjoying that night. A clear contrast to how the blonde with a longer lock reaching down to her collarbone was feeling.

" It's something silly. Nothing to worry about, rest assured" She faked a smile.

Deep down, Shinpei knew it was something related to Yame.

" You don't need to tell me what is going on, if you don't want to... But I have never seen you this fragile before. Is it something related to Junichi and Yame?"

The curvaceous blonde stood in silence, some seconds passed, then, she nodded her head and whispered "yes."

Shinpei noticed that she was still on the defensive, so he used a different approach.

"If it is something related to them, I also felt a bit odd thinking about this couple in particular during this evening."

Her purple eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

" Let's talk inside a cafe. It's getting cold. And I don't know about you, but I need to drink something hot."

She agreed, and they went inside a close cafe that was on the other side of the street. A tall and sympathetic waitress served them their drinks followed by some candies, and they would start the difficult conversation. Noticing she was still unsure to be vulnerable, he took the initiative.

"Hey... Hum, thanks for the handkerchief. I feel a lot better without an obvious crying face."

" No problem, and don't worry, this one I gave you is totally fresh."

He coughed and went straight to business.

" Well, I do cherish Yame and Junichi as a couple, but I think that sometimes, he can't simply be a bit more focused on the moment with his friends. Especially today, I felt he was too absent, even though he was the one who proposed for us, his male best friends, to reunite and have fun."

"So, Hashiba was with you, Minoru and Keigo, and he didn't enjoy his time at the arcade?" She tilted her head to the side, confused.

" I am sure he enjoyed it for one hour or two, but suddenly, he went out running to meet Yukana. I suppose." Shinpei said while drinking his coffee.

" It-it was the same with me, I mean, Yame and I were enjoying time chatting, and suddenly she ran to go after him. I know they are in love, but sometimes it looks like they can't stay away from each other. "

Shinpei agreed with her with a light head movement. "I think they are really in love, and can't avoid these needy episodes. What we can do as their friends is to offer support to them and give some advice if it's necessary. "

Ranko was at ease by now. She noticed that although Shinpei was a virgin, totally inexperienced with the opposite sex as Junichi was until yesterday, literally, he was much easier to deal with.

"I suppose you're right. But how are you so calm about this, Shinpei? "

Shinpei looked at her and explained." Well, this is the first experience of love for both of them. Based on what I see, Yame and Junichi learn about it by pure practice. I never got into a relationship before, but I read about it, watch series and anime with the romance tag on them. My relatives sometimes tell me stories about their dating lives. So, I have a basic, small notion of these things, after all. "

Ranko smiled at him, in fact, Shinpei was more reasonable than his appearance could suggest.

" So, although I cried in the streets feeling needy, due to Yame's absence in order to meet Junichi, abruptly. Do you think I improved a bit, Shinpei?"

"It depends. If you kept a calm facial expression while she was with you, I think you evolved in this matter. "

"Well, It was hard, but I managed it. On the other side, when she was away from my place, I couldn't hold my tears, and then I met you on the streets. I know it sounds childish, but it's what happened today. I confess, I felt a strong will to ask her to stay. As you know, Yame really matters to me." Her adorable purple eyes had a trace of shame when she explained her emotions.

"So you evolved, Ranko. I can say this for sure. You could have argued with Yame, you could have tried to keep Junichi away from her, but you only hold your feelings, and let them fly free when you are alone. In fact, as time marches on, we'll learn more about feelings seeing them living as a couple. So you scored today's exam with a solid 8 for me." Shinpei said, looking at her and smiling, while he was with his right thumb up.

Ranko felt his kindness and couldn't avoid nodding and smiling back. Yep, she had changed a bit, she'd evolved one step or two.

After they finished their hot drinks and candies, they paid their separate bills and went out.

Both walked a bit, enjoying the cold night. The stylish gal couldn't describe at that moment how she felt about Shinpei in a precise manner, but for sure, she would like to meet him more often. Since he was able to keep a dialogue with her without daydreaming pervert scenes.

10 minutes later, laying down on his bed, a message notification appeared on Shinpei's phone.

"Hey, four-eyes, I was thinking here, since Yame and Junichi are going to have another date tomorrow... How about we hang out after school? But, don't have any weird ideas, okay?!"

His heartbeats were faster than usual, and a wave of happiness took his senses. Shinpei also had changed a bit, and was curious to learn more about his own emotions. Even more if Ranko was with him during his journey.

"I am totally fine with your idea, Honjo. Don't worry, we'll have a nice time as we did today, when we went to the cafe."
