She who survived everything with nothing.

"…burn," a voice called as her monster blasted its target with a condensed flame attack. The loser fell to the ground and his LP reduced to 0.
Unknown: 0 LP
Winner: Unknown
The winner walked up to the fallen. She roughly grabbed his duel disk arm and connected a wire to her own.
"What are you doing?" the man grunted. She didn't answer, instead pressing a few buttons on her duel disk. "You won't find anything useful."
"I'll be the judge of that." The man's weakened state didn't allow for much resistance so she was able to operate with relative ease. While letting her devices do their thing. She pulled the man's deck out of its slot and started looking through it and picking out certain cards. "What are you doing with my deck?" he demanded.
"Taking whatever cards might be useful," she said, pocketing her selections. "You weren't an Antique Gear user, so you might have something interesting."
"Y-you're stealing my cards?" he asked incredulously. The woman looked at him and sneered, making him do a double-take.
It was a stark contrast from her physical appearance. She had long, silky, wavy maroon-red hair that hung past her waist. There was a pink ribbon tying some of it back, letting the rest flow loosely. There was make-up to brighten up her face and skin. It seemed she was trying to put up an image, a facade. Her sharp glare broke the illusion like glass. Her eyes seemed to shift from warm-red to blood-red. She moved her face closer to his.
"Well it's not like you'll be needing your deck anymore," she whispered in a nefarious tone.
"What is that supposed to mean?" he said. He was ignored. His opponent was typing rapidly on her duel disk's screen. She swiped her finger across it and hissed in anger, making him flinch.
"You were right. You're completely useless-" but she was interrupted by the man's duel disk. There was a red beeping light coming out of it. "What is that?" she demanded.
"My fail safe was activated, it will automatically transport us back to Academia!" the man's fear had faded away in a smirk.
"What?!" the woman pulled out the wire and pointed her duel disk at him. Before he could say another word he disappeared into a shower of purple sparks. Unfortunately, her bio metrics had already been scanned and she was set for dimensional teleportation. "Why?! NO!"

Lights flashed in front of her eyes, the cluttering of the wheels against the tracks clapped against her eardrums. It was quite monotonous and she just stared out the window, watching the black tunnel like it was some sort of light show. She ran her fingers through her hair, now reduced to shoulder length and straightened out. Cutting it felt like shedding a shell, like removing a mask. Lies and sins still weighed her down, but she used that get stronger, to be resilient, to survive. Her eyes were as empty as her dreams, nothing to really look forward to, nothing to really stress out about. Well, there was plenty to stress about, specifically about things she had left behind, but she decided to not dwell on it until they caught up with her, if they caught up to her.
But what would catch up to her? She first had nothing. Then she had everything. Then that everything was lost. Then she gained a little something, but now she had left that behind. Now she was on her lonesome.
Why would lies matter now? There was no anchor. There was no foundation. There was no origin. Nothing to pull her back.
Just her. Seika. Yes… Seika. That was the name.
But she had no one, so how did that name come to be?
Well, she named herself.
To have a name, you had to have meaning. To be given a name, you had to have meaning to someone else. To name yourself... you didn't mean anything to anyone but yourself.
She did everything by herself. She learned by herself. She lived by herself. She survived by herself. Her everything, was herself, and her babies. It was a dark thought, calling them her babies.
Well, that was how it was until she escaped it all. She met friends. She had everything. She had everything for a good, long while, until she was taken from it. Now they were all likely gone, all gone in the face of a false truth. A thought she had to come accept. A thought she couldn't bear to feel regret...
"Attention all passengers bound for Maiami City, we will be arriving at North Maiami Station in five minutes. Please be prepared to depart the train."
The announcement broke her out of those depressing thoughts. Thoughts she always came back to. Thoughts she wanted to end…
Most of the people around her got up, hearing the destination. She noticed that many of them had duel disks and deck boxes at their waists, or wore shirts and jackets with the name of a duel school on them.
Still looking ahead, Seika said, "I know I'm hot, but please stop staring. Or I might do something I'll regret." A boy several meters away flinched, the people nearby snickered at her remark. Face red with embarrassment he straightened his jacket and walked toward her.
Seika finally turned toward him and cursed inwardly. He had smooth, green hair and black eyes. He seemed to carry himself with quite a lot of confidence. A stereotypical rich kid it was. One thing caught her eye however. On the collar of his jacket was a badge saying "LID." Her heart began to race, and her breathing quickened. She needed to get away from him, now. But she couldn't make a scene.
"Are you from around here Miss?" The boy asked. Seika tried to ignore him and attempted to will the train to go faster.
"She clearly doesn't want you, back off kid," a man said, who seemed to sense her distress. Seika breathed in relief and mentally thanked him. However, her hopes were quickly dashed.
"I didn't ask for your opinion," the boy replied coldly. The man who came to her defense stood up, ready to square against smaller boy. Several people gasped. Again, not wanting a scene to play out, and potentially getting questioned by the authorities, Seika tried to de-escalate the tension.
"No I am not from here," she said. "And please listen to the kind man, I have no interest in you." He seemed to ignore that second part.
"How about I show you around the city? My treat. As a part of LDS you'll realize that I have a lot of privilege in Maiami," Seika ignored him. She scrunched her eyes shut, pleading he would stand down. But then. He had the gall to ask that. "What about a duel? If you win, I'll leave you alone, and if I win, you accept my offer."
"No," Seika hissed, perhaps a little too harshly. The boy was taken aback by her tone. "I'm not even a duelist." Her eyes flashed dangerously as they portrayed a sense of blood lust.
"Not a duelist…?"
"Sit your ass down, boy, or I'll call the train security on you," the man said, gripping the Leo student's shoulder. He was definitely stronger than the scrawny kid, especially with the height advantage.
"Why you…" the boy reached out to shove the man away. Seika, noticing a pretty woman with long brown hair in a braid, standing next to the kind man, quickly said.
"You're also not my type," she said quickly, making the boy pause.
"Then, what is your type? I'm sure I can adjust to that," he ran his fingers through his hair, trying to look sexy. The man who came to her defense seemed to notice Seika was up to something, seeing the calculating expression on her face.
Seika stepped forward suddenly, until she was about a foot away from the pretty woman. She grabbed her hand and held it.
"Her, this pretty one is my type," Seika's voice was dreamy and sweet as she caressed the woman's hand. "Those kind eyes, that cute face, and that beautiful hair. Oh, if only she felt the same way as I did, but I doubt she does..." Her eyes were half-closed to portray an alluring gaze. Seika couldn't believe what she was doing, but she needed to shake him off immediately. Showing that she swung the other way seemed the easiest way to do so. The people watching gasped covering their mouths.
"Ah- ah-" The woman stuttered as her face exploded into a crimson more red than Seika's hair. She gaped at the sudden confession, unable to say anything. So she's one of those shy ones then.
Seika looked toward the Leo student, who stared with his jaw dropped. The train finally came to a halt. The squeaking of the wheels set her into motion. She blew a kiss at the woman and winked at her slyly. The gesture seemed to conveyed a certain seductive aura to the recipient, who looked like she was steaming out of her ears.
Stepping out the doors Seika was met with a blast of hot air to the face. "What the hell," she grunted. "How hot is it?" She was wearing a black overcoat that had already begun absorbing the heat. She slipped it off and wrapped it around the luggage handle. Underneath, she wore a gray turtleneck. That also wasn't ideal for the weather, but she had nothing else. Seika continued her brisk walk to hopefully get to a cool place.
Clack Clack Clack – Clack – Clack… clack… clack… clack. Seika's boots seemed to weight down more with each step.
She gradually came to a stop as she exited the station. SLAP! She facepalmed herself. It was so loud that several people glanced at her as they walked past. What did I just do? She thought while racking her fist against her forehead repeatedly. How hard did I just overreact? She should've just said she was already dating, or go even one step further and say she was married. She could make up a story about why there was no ring.
To get away, to escape something, sometimes a mask had to be worn. Intentionally or unintentionally. She was so used to it, her conscience would sometimes act on autopilot. It pretty much was on autopilot for the last three years. She would have to break the habit now.
Eventually, Seika made her way through the streets of Maiami City. She looked up and saw a billboard that showed a young man with gray hair in a dark-gray shirt, a thin, red scarf around his neck, and a pair of red glasses on his face. In bright capital letters, "AKABA REIJI, LEO CORPORATION PRESIDENT." It was some advertisement that was promising greater advancements into Solid Vision technology.
"Akaba…" Seika narrowed her eyes at the billboard. Then her attention shifted to the large tower in the distance. It was the highlight of a city that was considered to be the center of the dueling world. It was quite the spectacle, but Seika wasn't very fond of the plain gray look to it. It gave off the feeling of the old, boring, corporate design. She had seen much better, especially a certain monument with its colorful, utopic look that would instill within you the most wondrous feeling.
Continuing her stroll, she eventually came across an ice-cream truck. The sun was blazing up above and she decided she would treat herself.
"Hello there!" The seller was a kind middle-aged man. "What would you like?" Seika looked at the options and decided on the coffee-caramel mix. "By any chance, are you planning to or are qualified for the Maiami Championships?" Seika was taken aback by the sudden question.
"What? I'm new to the city. If it's anything to do with dueling, then I'm sorry. I'm not a duelist." she replied. "Why do you ask?"
"No worries, it's none of your concern," the man waved his hand. "I'll get your ice cream ready." He disappeared from the window.
Of course she knew what he was talking about. That was part of the reason why she had come here, to the dueling capital of the Standard Dimension. Her lie was quite smooth, exactly like she said it on the train. A lie she repeated like a broken record for years. A lie she had told so many times that she felt… sinful. Yes, sinful. That was the right word to describe how she felt about it. She had sinned so much, it felt like sinning was the only way to move forward.
As Seika was fishing around her bag for some spare change, something small suddenly collided into her. "Oof!" It yelped. Seika blinked and looked down. A young girl with short red hair and a headband was on her bottom rubbing her forehead. "Owww," she muttered.
Seika bent down, "Hey there, are you all right?" She asked kindly.
"Huh?" The girl looked up at her and saw Seika looking at her with a warm smile "Oh, uh, I'm fine. Thank you Miss. I'm sorry for running into you," she stood and bowed apologetically.
"Don't worry about it. Just watch where you're going next time."
"I will Miss," the girl said.
"Aah! Ayu-chan! Are you here for the usual?" the ice cream man asked, reappearing at the window.
"Yes please, Yamamoto-san!" the girl named Ayu said excitedly and she began digging around her pockets.
"I forgot to ask, but would you like a cup or cone?" Yamamoto asked Seika.
"Both please, if that's alright with you."
"Of course!"
"Oh," Ayu muttered dejectedly, "I forgot my wallet at You Show. And I ran halfway across the city for this," Seika saw her overturned pockets and noticed the beads of sweat ran down the little girl's face and she was panting.
"Oh, Ayu-chan you know there are plenty of shops near You Show, you could have gone there instead," he sighed, handing Seika her ice cream. Her eyes widened at the frozen treat, crimson eyes shining like the sun. The rivers of caramel streaming down the brown-white ice cream looked so amazing to her. It wasn't an intricate design. It was quite simple actually, but something about it really made Seika appreciate it.
"Yeah, but yours is my favorite and I wanna keep supporting my favorite ice cream!" the girl said cheerfully. Seika saw no harm in helping her out.
"I'll pay for hers as well," Seika told Yamamoto.
"No! You don't have to Miss!" Ayu waved her hands. "I can just go back and get my wallet."
"You would have to go all the way across the city and back to do that. I'm shocked you haven't suffered a heat stroke already," Seika said. She patted Ayu's head, "Come, let me help you out, it's not very expensive either, and I'd like to do some good once in a while." Ayu saw there was no room for argument and the nice lady was offering to pay for her.
"Okay," the girl muttered. Seika finally found some cash in her bag and left it on the counter. Her purse was quite a mess, since she was in a hurry while packing.
"Keep the change."
"Here you go Ayu-chan! Your usual," the cashier handed Ayu the cone. "Thank you for helping Ayu-chan out. She's a sweet girl, and I would hate for her to suffer in this heat," he thanked Seika.
"Don't mind it," Seika looked down at Ayu. "Take care of yourself, make sure you don't eat that too quickly. Okay?" Her voice was a little stern, but also motherly. Seika herself was a little surprised at how she sounded.
"Thank you again Miss! I promise I'll pay you back some day!" Ayu waved cheerfully.
As Seika mingled with and disappeared into the crowd, Ayu noticed a card on the ground. Her eyes widened realizing that it was the nice lady's. "She's already gone," the girl muttered, picking it up. "I know!" She snapped her fingers. "I'll return the card to her as thanks for the ice cream. She must be a duelist, maybe Shuzo-sensei or Mika-oneechan knows her," Ayu muttered to herself as she made her way back to You Show. "Hmm… This one of those Fusion cards you use to Fusion Summon. Is she from LDS?"
—oOo—
Soon after, Seika tossed away her ice cream cup. It was so hot that she practically drank the ice cream before she could eat it properly. The waffle cone had also become soggy. Luckily, there was a takoyaki stand nearby. She ordered a set and smiled, finally able to savor something properly until she made it to her place of residence. At some point in her life, Seika realized she had a thing for food.
She walked past a screen showcasing a duel when she heard. "I use Scale 1 Stargazer Magician and Scale 8 Timegazer Magician to set the Pendulum Scale!"
"What's a Pendulum Scale?" Seika jerked her head toward the screen along with a few other people nearby. It was a duel between the current Pro Champion, Strong Ishijima and a boy named Sakaki Yuya. She wasn't paying attention to the boy specifically but the cards he was using. He placed the two strange cards on opposite sides of his duel disk and the word PENDULUM appeared in rainbow letters. The two respective monsters appeared on either side of Yuya as a Pendulum swung across between them.
"With this I can summon monsters levels two through seven all at the same time!" he declared. The area around Seika went silent, as well as the stadium on TV.
"Special summoning as many monsters as you want as long as they're within those barriers?" Seika said to herself. "Scale 1 and Scale 8. Level two through seven. So that's how it is."
"Swing, pendulum of souls! Draw an arc of light across the ether!" he chanted. "Pendulum Summon! Appear now! My monsters! Entermate Sword Fish! Entermate Whip Viper! Finally! Rise! Wondrous and beautiful dichromatic eyes! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"
Entermate Sword Fish: Level 2/WATER[Fish/Effect] ATK 600/DEF 600
Entermate Whip Viper: Level 4/EARTH[Reptile/Effect] ATK 1700/DEF 900
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon: Level 7/SC: 4/DARK[Dragon/Pendulum/Effect] ATK 2500 DEF 2000
"Pendulum Summon? What is this? Sakaki Yuya has just used an unknown method of summoning that has never been seen before!" the announcer called out in shock. "And his Odd-Eyes Dragon seems to have… evolved?"
Seika couldn't believe she had just heard. Apparently this was a new summoning mechanic. She had by pure chance stumbled upon a kid creating a new summoning method.
"Y-Yuya?" a voice sounded next to her. "Why are you dueling Strong Ishijima?" Seika looked to see a girl around her age with long, straight blonde hair and green eyes. "I thought we agreed not to do it..."
"Do you know that kid?" Seika asked, snapping the girl out of her shock. And why does he look so familiar?
"H-huh? I said that out loud didn't I?" she stuttered and cleared her throat. "He's kind of well-known.
"He's seems like quite the performer," Seika said dryly, watching as the duel progressed. Then a close-up shot of Yuya's face appeared and she had to mask her shock. Yuto? Why does he look like Yuto?
"...In a manner of speaking," the stranger said vaguely. Finally, looking like she calmed down, she crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "You must not be much into dueling, if you don't know who he is."
"I'm not, not even a duelist, not even from this city," the same lie again. It was hilarious as her duel disk and cards were in her suitcase.
"Huh, you seem pretty interested in that duel though," she remarked. In the back of her mind, Seika made a note to avoid meeting this girl again and to leave before they could potentially exchange names. The girl coughed, as if to break the awkwardness. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude."
"It's fine, I guess I've just never seen anything like it," Seika said. "Well, I'll see you around." Never. She stuffed another piece of takoyaki in her mouth and started walking quickly, rolling her suitcase close to her.
The girl was focused on the duel, observing in anticipation. After a few seconds, "Oh, I'm Mikazuki by the way, but you can just call me Mika," the now-named Mika held her hand out, but Seika had already left. "Huh, she's already gone?"
"Mikazuki…" Seika had managed to hear Mika give her name as she left. Thinking about names, she suddenly realized that the boy's name was Sakaki. As in, Sakaki Yusho? Are they related? That part had gone completely over her head because she was so focused on that weird Pendulum Summoning mechanic.
It certainly seemed to match. Sakaki Yusho was a performer, an entertainer, and that boy, Yuya, definitely looked like he was trying to live up to that. She also couldn't ignore the uncanny resemblance he had to Yuto. Seika mentally scolded herself for not doing the research she should've done before coming here.
Soon, she made her way to a residential area and stopped in front of a relatively large house. Her face contorted in confusion. She knew she was in a wealthy community, but that house seemed too big for what she was expecting. It seemed too big for just her. In fact, it wasn't even a house that she was expecting.
"What? Is this right?" Seika pulled out a slip of paper with an address written on it. Her eyes darted several times between the paper and house until she was completely sure that it was the right place. Then she came to a realization and facepalmed with a groan. She had found it strange that there was no apartment number on the address. "Yes, this is definitely something she would do." She found the gates unlocked, dragged them open and walked in. Walking across the large driveway, she fought down the desire to form an expression of irritation and anger on her face. I specifically told her I wanted an apartment. I didn't care what kind, so why a house? What am I going to do with all this space? I wanted something discreet. She can't even listen to one simple request? Seika fished out the keys that were given to her. This would be the final confirmation for whether or not this was the right place.
She pushed the key into the keyhole, it fit. She turned it, something inside moved. She nudged the door open, it obliged. Yep, I shouldn't have expected less from her. Sighing in resignation, she went inside and started to settle herself in.
After spending an hour checking out the house inside and out, Seika settled at the computer in one of the rooms and began doing the research she should've done before. She decided to enter Sakaki Yusho's name into the search engine and see what came up. She tapped her finger impatiently waiting for it load. She was used to much faster internet speeds. She eventually found a biographical article about Yusho.
"Oh yes, that explains quite a lot," lingering suspicions that she had had for long time were finally confirmed. He was quite an infamous figure in the dueling world, but especially notorious in the East. He was the former dueling Champion and suddenly vanished the day of a title match against the now current Champion, Strong Ishijima, three years ago. Strong was also the mascot for Leo Duel School. "Strong Ishijima? The same one Sakaki Yuya was dueling today?" She decided to look up Yusho's personal information. He was the founder of the You Show Duel School, which focused on entertainment duels. Entertainment duels? What the hell is that? Isn't dueling already entertainment?
Yusho had a wife, Sakaki Yoko, and two children. A daughter, Sakaki Mikazuki. Seika's eyes widened. She's his daughter?
As well as a son, Sakaki Yuya. That makes much more sense now, he's her brother.
Yuya also attended You Show.
You Show? Isn't that the place that little girl mentioned? As she suddenly recalled what Ayu had said.
But her thoughts were interrupted when she read the blurb about Mikazuki.
His daughter, Mikazuki, is well-known for being the first person not affiliated with Leo Corporation to perform a successful Fusion Summon as well as the second person not affiliated with Leo Corporation to utilize one of the three summoning methods. Despite numerous offers from many prestigious Duel Schools, she has chosen to remain independent, though many suspect she has already chosen an affiliation. It is currently unknown how she obtained Fusion monsters.
"First... Fusion user?" Seika mouthed. "Is she with Visas?" There was a picture of Mika in the middle of a duel. She had a monster by her side: a young mermaid girl with silver hair in a blue dress that resembled a fish.
The caption read:
Mikazuki with her Fusion monster, Tearlaments Kitkallos.
Seika knew the situation of this world, and frankly, it was one of the most laughable things she had ever heard. Years ago, the Leo Corporation had come out with three summoning mechanics: Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz. It also introduced the Extra Deck to dueling. These three methods had revolutionized the dueling landscape and shot their Duel School to the top of the world. They had also completely monopolized the use of those mechanics, claiming them and going as far as to designate all Fusion, Xyz, and Synchro cards as their property. This also included the "Fusion" Spell card and similar cards used to perform a Fusion Summon. They had an iron-grip on the dueling world and threw out as many lawsuits and threats as they could to make sure they could keep them in their grasp. Former Leo students were legally binded and contracted not to teach the summoning methods or submit their cards for analysis. Seika couldn't believe how greedy they were. The lengths they were going to in order to gate keep the three summoning methods, it was ridiculous.
At first, she hadn't really thought much of it. She assumed that Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz were in the Standard Dimension from the beginning. Then she realized that only Leo duelists were the ones using those methods. After looking deeper into it, her already high suspicions of Leo Corporation went up even further.
However, the times where Leo controlled the Extra Deck mechanics were now changing. In recent months, after a duelist used Xyz Summoning for the first time outside of Leo Corporation, they began to lose their grip. Then, Mikazuki Fusion Summoned. Since then, Fusion and Xyz summoning started escaping like sand. Non-Leo duelists wielding those summoning mechanics popped up like weeds. Eventually, with pressure from several governments, particularly from the European Union, Leo backed down. However, they still refused to share their knowledge on the Extra Deck mechanics as well as how to create the cards. There were no Synchro users yet, strangely enough.
Additionally, Seika had read that Leo Corporation were trying to acquire as many Duel Schools as possible, likely to make up for that loss of exclusivity. They were attempting to build a monopoly over the dueling world. Unfortunately for them, they had trouble trying to build a presence outside of their main domain: Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
Another rival corporation had begun to make a name in the western world. It administered across Europe and the Americas. "Visas Enterprises," as it was called. It was essentially the western equivalent of Leo Corporation, based in a place called Brussels, Belgium, which was also the heart of the European Union. That explained their involvement in Leo Corporation's case. Politics in the Standard Dimension was quite interesting...
Leo Corporation was still the dominant force in the world, however. They still had a monopoly over dueling technology, seeing as their Solid Vision system was used everywhere, including the regions outside of their area of dominance. All of the duelists produced at Leo duel schools trumped over almost all others, including ones from Visas campuses.
But Seika knew, that tides would turn soon. Everything would change since it was a Visas duelist who had performed the first successful Extra Deck summon without any involvement from Leo Corporation. Their Card Development Department had successfully produced Xyz monsters. A major breakthrough in dueling and would certainly challenge Leo's positioning.
Finally, Seika sighed, resting her head on the desk. Sifting through all that information in her mind had sapped her remaining energy. It was a scorching, hot day and she particularly regretted not using a bus or a taxi to get to the house. It was strange, she had never really been affected by heat before. A strange characteristic she never questioned. Seika had been like that for as long as she remembered. Feeling that blast of hot air was like the heat equivalent of being splashed with cold water. Never had she felt like that in her life.
Finally deciding to get up, Seika left to take a bath. Then, she would eat something and rest for the day.
Eventually, Seika was in the bathroom, and as she waited for the tub to fill up, she had made up her mind. She would study up on the duelists of the city, particularly if LDS and Mikazuki. She was curious about her dueling.
No, she was lying to herself. She wasn't just curious, she was suspicious. Mika being a Fusion-user was one thing, but being the first Fusion-user was another thing. Of course, that felt highly unlikely, but anything Fusion, Seika was wary about.
Her rational, accepting side had one theory. Her irrational, survival side had another theory.
Then there was also an unknown factor to account for: Sakaki Yuya's Pendulum Summoning. It was one of the most bizarre things Seika had seen and she still wasn't sure what to think of it, but there was one thing she did know: Yuya would likely be a person of interest to Leo Corporation. Seika could kill multiple birds with one stone, and attempt to learn as much as she could.
Seika got in the warm water and breathed out blissfully, feeling all the tension leave her body. Noticing that there was a TV in the bathroom as well, she gazed at the reflection of herself so intensely, it felt like she could burn a hole right through it.
Keep your enemies close as they say.
Card Terminal:
There was no duel this chapter, so I'll take the opportunity to explain how this will work. I'll be using this section to differentiate if a card is using their anime effect or TCG/OCG effect. This also applies to any changes I might make to them.
I expect that I'll be creating a lot of custom cards, including at least one custom archetype. I will include the effects of the custom cards as well within the Card Terminal (probably won't include the whole effect if it wasn't used, just to surprise :P). I'm also thinking of uploading a separate story that will have the simple purpose of cataloging all the custom cards I create. Haven't decided how to go about that yet.
Will use OCG names with a few exceptions.
Hi! Welcome to my first fanfiction on this website. I say "this website" because I've previously published two stories on Wattpad (that I have abandoned sadly, but currently rewriting one of them :D). I don't plan on publishing this one there. Maybe I'll change my mind at some point.
This will be an OC-centric story if it wasn't clear already. I'm curious about your impression on Seika so far. Of course, because ARC-V had some of the most frustrating writing I have ever experienced in any piece of media, I'll actually do its characters and story justice, with my twist of course.
No Links! I've played this game since 2014, watched the anime since 2011. I'm quite comfortable ignoring Links, even if I play Master Duel quite a lot. I know it's popular for ARC-V fanfics to include a Link Dimension (or Ritual, or some fifth dimension), and I was seriously tempted to do it just because I love Revolver and have a strong desire to bash SOL Technologies. However, at the end of the day, I have no real reason to include a Link Dimension in a way that would benefit this story. I would also be spreading myself thin trying to develop a side plot for the Link Dimension as well as creating a new Yu-boy and Bracelet Girl. Trying to build Seika is already a monumental task for me because I have a lot of ambition for her character. So it's just the Four Dimensions.
You may have noticed that there were was no (full) duel this chapter. These first few chapters won't include that many duels, or long ones. It'll be story heavy until the plot gets moving. It's also my first Yugioh fanfic, need to practice writing duels xD. Gotta start slow.
Also, Tearlaments.
