A/N: Another random one shot. I seem to have a hella load of these gathering dust and forgotten. Well, not anymore.

Headache

The sound of rough breathing caught his attention, he woke up and looked to his left.

The redhead was squirming, a frown was visible on his pale forehead. His hand went to his hand and gripped his hair, a groan leaving his lips.

"Tala"

He took the hand pulling the hair away, replacing it with his own, gently caressing his scalp.

Another whine of pain came out from the redhead and icy blue eyes opened.

Kai stared down at him worriedly as he seemed to be trying to get a hold of his breathing, before looking at him.

"Kai?"

He scooted closer and cradled the other's head in his lap, running his fingers gently through the red hair.

"It'll be okay," he assured.

"No, it won't," came the reply.

Looking down, he was met with the pain that reflected in Tala's eyes.

He tightened his grip on him.

Tala buried his face in his night shirt, and wrapped his arms around Kai's waist.

Kai kept on the movement of his hand, running one hand over the redhead's back in order to soothe him and the other gently massaging his head to ease the headache.

His eyes fixed on an invisible speck floating in the air in front of his eyes, as he slowly rocked his body to and fro, humming an unknown tune to use as a lullaby for Tala.

It seemed hours had passed before he finally looked down and found the redhead asleep.

An almost invisible smile lined his lips.

He shifted to put him in his place and drape the blanket over him, but as he did so, Tala called his name ever so slightly before reaching blindly with his hands and taking a hold of his shirt.

"Don't leave"

He seemed to be still mumbling in sleep, but Kai knew better.

He freed himself from the other's clutches and then helped him to a proper position before slipping in next to him.

Tala instantly turned to him and once again buried his face in Kai's shirt, as if just the touch of the Phoenix could cure his aches.

He held onto him, gripping the cloth at his sides, struggling in a nightmare.

And Kai wrapped an arm around his shoulders, pulling him ever closer, not wanting to let go.

He placed a soft kiss on the fiery hair of the other.

"It will be okay Tala, cuz' as long as I'm alive, I'll never leave you, that's a promise, and it won't ever be broken"

Tala must've heard the words, because his tense body relaxed, the frown that was as persistent as ever on his forehead a few minutes ago, disappeared.

He had finally calmed down.

Awww!
