Heaven's Healer
Lucifer walked into the detective's home. She'd called and asked him to meet her there. Apparently, they had a new case.
Chloe was on the phone when Lucifer let himself in. She gave him an annoyed look. "Do you even know how to knock?"
"Of course, but the Devil doesn't knock. Now, shall we go? You said we had a new case," Lucifer said.
"It's going to be a little bit. Have a seat in the living room," Chloe said before leaving the room while talking to whoever she had on the phone.
Lucifer sighed before heading into the living room and sitting down on the couch. He was there for about five minutes before he began to get bored. He was about to get up and go search for the detective when a loud pitched voice called out to him.
"HI, Lucifer!"
"Bloody hell!" Lucifer exclaimed as he flinched away from the small human that had just appeared in the room. "Hello, child. Shouldn't you be with your father tonight? Don't you spend weekends with him."
Trixie pouted a bit at the mention of her father. She was supposed to be at his house tonight, but he cancelled again. But she was determined not to cry or get upset this time. That only ever made her feel worse. "Daddy had to work. Now Mommy does too, so she's calling a babysitter.
Lucifer scowled. It appeared Detective Douche was living up to his name. "I see. That's what's taking her so long."
"Lucifer, are you really the Devil?" Trixie asked.
"Of course. I said so, didn't I?" Lucifer asked.
"Mommy says you're not. She says you're just playing a game. She says there's no such thing as the Devil," Trixie said.
"I am most certainly real, and I don't lie," Lucifer said slightly insulted.
Trixie stared at him for a few moments, as if trying to determine whether or not she believed him. After deciding that she did, she spoke again. "Then can I show you something."
"I suppose so," Lucifer said after a moment. He didn't like interacting with human spawn, but he was bored. Perhaps whatever the child had to say would entertain him. He doubted it though. Human children seemed to find the most inane things fascinating.
"Hold on," Trixie said before walking to the edge of the room and checking to make sure her mom wasn't anywhere in sight. When she saw that she wasn't, Trixie walked back over to Lucifer. "Okay, it might take a second. I'm not too good at making it happen whenever I want yet."
Lucifer watched as the child seemed to concentrate on something, but he couldn't tell what. She was only standing still and staring into space. He was beginning to regret the entire encounter. That was when it happened. Two medium sized, grey wings sprouted from the child's back.
Lucifer gasped in shock and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head. He never once considered that what the child had to show him was that she had wings. "Bloody Hell!"
"Aren't they cool?" Trixie asked.
"How?" was the only word Lucifer was capable of speaking at the moment.
"I don't know. They just appeared one day," Trixie said.
"Does your mother know?" Lucifer asked. He doubted it. The detective would not be so insistent that the Devil didn't exist if she knew she had angel wings.
Trixie shook her head. "Uh, uh. No one knows. Adults don't think stuff like wings on people are real, so I wasn't sure if I should tell. But you said you're the real devil, so I thought it would be okay to tell you. Am I an angel, Lucifer?"
Before Lucifer could even contemplate how to answer that, he heard footsteps. He immediately jumped up and took the child by the arm. He put his other hand on the base of the child's wings and watched as they retreated into her back. He wasn't sure if the child had enough to do it herself, so he decided to do it for her before the detective came in and saw them.
Chloe walked in moments later. "Hey. We should be able to leave within ten minutes. I just had to line a babysitter up for Trixie."
Lucifer nodded dumbly as he stood up, his eyes never leaving the child's, as he was still astonished by what she showed him.
"Why are you staring at my daughter?" Chloe asked.
Lucifer finally tore his eyes away from the child and looked at the detective. "Uh…"
"We were having a staring contest, Mommy. I won," Trixie lied.
Chloe smiled at her daughter. "That's great, Monkey. Well, Amy's going to watch you while Lucifer and I go to work. When she gets here, I'll tell her to order pizza for dinner, and if I'm back early enough, we'll go for ice cream. You be good for her, okay?"
"I will, Mommy. I'm gonna go play now," Trixie said before racing out of the room.

Lucifer was still shocked as they were driving to the crime scene. He didn't understand how the detective's child had angel wings. He knew that the detective was human, and he couldn't believe that Detective Douche was anything but human either. Besides, angels couldn't have children, at least he didn't think they could. He supposed Amenadiel might know if there was any possibility, but there was no way Lucifer was telling him about this. Who knew what Amenadiel might do with the information.
Lucifer could only think of two explanations for this child having wings. Either his father had gifted them to her or one of her parents had to be an angel. Lucifer didn't think it was the first option. Even if his father was willing to give a human such a gift, he wouldn't be irresponsible enough to leave her on Earth and possibly reveal divinity. One of her parents had to be an angel, but Lucifer didn't believe either detective was. He supposed it was possible that Detective Douche wasn't her father. He could try to find that much out though.
"Hey, thanks for hanging out with Trixie at the house. I know you're not comfortable around kids," Chloe suddenly said.
"Well, your offspring isn't so bad. You know, your offspring doesn't look much like you," Lucifer said.
"Kids don't have to look like their parents. Genetics can do crazy things," Chloe said.
"She doesn't look much like Detective Douche either."
Chloe glared at Lucifer for a second before turning back to the road. "Did Dan put you up to this?"
"What?" Lucifer asked, a bit caught off-guard.
"Did he ask you to bring up Trixie's appearance to me? He's unbelievable! I am so tired of his insinuations that Trixie is not his! It's nothing more than an excuse to not spend time with her!" Chloe fumed.
"Detective, I…"
"And I can't believe that you of all people would play his games! You can't even stand Dan, and you're here trying to get information for him. Well, for your information, I never cheated on Dan!" she snapped.
"Detective, I swear, I am not working with Detective Douche. I didn't even realize he questioned paternity," Lucifer said. That fact did make his suspicions worse though. He wondered if perhaps he was on the right path. However, the detective's genuine indignation gave him pause.
Chloe calmed down quite a bit. She realized that Lucifer was probably just making some observations. It was pretty obvious that Trixie didn't look much like Dan. She supposed he was just pointing that out. "I'm sorry, Lucifer. It's just that it's all I've heard from Dan for years, so every time someone mentions Trixie's appearance, I guess I take it as an accusation."
"Well, I never meant to accuse you, Detective," Lucifer said. That much was true. He was trying to ascertain some things about the child's paternity, but not to accuse the detective of wrongdoing.
"I'm sorry. I guess I'm just sensitive about it. Anyway, we're here," Chloe said as she pulled onto the crime scene.
Lucifer nodded, deciding to table the matter for now. He would have to discover the child's origins some other way. One thing was clear to him though. He needed to speak to that child again soon.
