AN: This idea is one I got when it was established in one of the movies that Quirks could be attained by transplanting quirk factor from one person to another. We also know that it doesn't always take and can take with varying degrees of success. I got this idea by considering what organs could be replaced (I looked up and which organs could be transplanted) and how it would work if each had a shard of the quirk factor from their original user inside them.

AN2: There are a few different stories that are being posted as 'new'. Tha's because I have several stories that have no real ideas going forward or have been rather dead with not a lot of views or attention. So, over the next few posts I'll be pruning those out and adding new stories to take their place.

Shards of Power

Chapter 1

-Nezu-

Humming happily to himself, Nezu kicked his legs as he rode on Recovery Girl's shoulder, cheerfully ignoring the strange looks that this garnered from the various hospital workers they passed as they made their way to the secure rooms. "Must you ride like this everywhere sir?" Recovery Girl grit out, her eyebrows twitching irritably.

"You signed the contract." Nezu beamed, glad he slipped in the clause that they had to let him do this into every UA employee contract.

"One day I'm going to shave you and there will be nothing you can do about it."

"Rude." Nezu mock huffed, well used to that particular threat that she'd never actually enacted. The rest of the trip was spent mostly silent as they wondered why they were called into the hospital.

"Good, you're both here." Spotting one of the head doctors, Nezu noticed the man seemed quite frazzled "This…we may have made a breakthrough in Quirkology but if word got out, I'm positive there would be a massive upsurge in crimes all around the globe."

"How would a medicinal discovery cause crime?" Recovery girl narrowed her eyes, demanding an answer straight away.

"The subject, one Izuku Midoriya, was admitted to the hospital recently. He was caught up in that Villain attack in Mustafu, he's the kid who got caught between the attacks of the villain and that idiot 'Pro' who didn't bother trying to avoid civilian casualties. The kid's organs were badly damaged resulting in him needing replacements for his Heart, kidney, pancreas, intestines, liver, and a lung along with corneal transplants." Even Nezu felt his eyes widen at that. Transplants weren't all that common anymore, given the nature of healing quirks most people either didn't need a transplant because they were healed quickly enough, or they were too far gone to save. Still, thanks to quirks and modern medicine most hospitals had a store of organs that could last for decades and be fine, just in case.

"While horrible for a child to endure, I fail to see how it's a medical breakthrough." Recovery girl gestured for the man to get to the point.

"The organs took to the boy…far more than expected." The Doctor gestured for them to follow "When he was admitted our medical history systems were down so we couldn't pull up his medical record, we just confirmed with his mother that he didn't have any allergies or similar concerns. When the head physician saw these journals on him," the doctor held up a stack of journals labelled 'Hero Analysis for the future' "they assumed the kid had an amazing quirk to be this invested in being a hero, so he ordered all the stops pulled out." Nezu wanted to sigh, well used to this society trying to curry favor with children with strong quirks in the hope of cashing in when and if they became big heroes.

"I'm guessing his quirk wasn't all that impressive?" Recovery girl snorted.

"He was quirkless." The doctor replied as Recovery girl winced, Nezu however noticed something important.

"I'm sorry, did you say was?" Nezu pressed the issue.

"Hence the breakthrough. It seems the transplants took flawlessly, actually giving him a weaker version of all the quirks of their original owners. We've determined seven of the potential eight quirks so far." The doctor's explanation explained why they were going to such a high security area.

"Transferred the quirks?!" Recovery girl likely had the same thoughts he did.

"We aren't sure exactly how. It could be due to his nature as quirkless, a trait that's becoming increasingly rare. It could just be a one in a million miracle with how compatible the organs were with him. It could be a side effect of those or more, I did check and saw that the blood transfusion we gave him tended to boost the healing of those who get it injected into them for a period which might have had a factor. As I said, this is something we don't fully understand but if the general public learned that someone gained quirks just by organ transplant, we'd have villains on an organ harvesting rampage. The Government has been informed as well so a cover story could be made, I asked you two here to help and study the situation, given your mind Nezu and your medical history Recovery Girl."

"What quirks has he gained." Nezu demanded, already trying to process the situation as he looked through a window to see a green haired boy with his mother, all surrounded by doctors and scientists.

"As I said, we figured out seven quirks so far." The doctor pulled out some files "We're digging into the records to find out the information for who the liver was donated by but we found the information for the others."

"I'm listening doctor." Nezu nodded, pulling out a small pen and notebook to write this down.

"First there's his eyes." The doctor began, "Each cornea came from a different donor. One is granting X-Ray Vision and the other is an enhanced visual perception ability. Those seem to be closer to the base levels of the original donors than most of the other quirks. Likely because the ability, and therefore most of the quirk factor, was focused in the eye itself."

"You said most?" Recover girl noted.

"Yes, his lung was donated by a former Hero." The doctor checked his notes, "In fact most of these are from former heroes." Unsurprising, given that being an organ donor was good for PR "This was the Flame Breathing Hero, Hashira. He could train his breathing to better circulate oxygen and allow him to perform superhuman feats. Once again, it seems to not be at the level of its original user, likely due to only one lung being transplanted, but it's still above the other quirks that we've found."

"Then what's next." Nezu pushed, even with just the abilities listed, along with the mind implied by those journals, the boy would make a fantastic hero.

"Next we have a hardening quirk, once used by a man named Ling Yao who was the original owner of Midoriya's new Kidney. He could harden his entire body into the strongest possible formation of carbon, Izuku seems limited to having that hardening go from his hand and feet to halfway to his elbows and knees."

"I see what you mean by the other quirks being far more limited." Recovery girl took the file.

"Exactly." The Doctor nodded "After that, we have a quirk where the original owner could shoot condensed beams of fire out a great distance, Izuku's are quite short although they do pair well with another quirk of his. This was the quirk tied to his intestines. For his pancreas he has an 'inventory' quirk where he can store as much as he wants but he feels the full weight of whatever he has in there, as opposed to the original user who barely felt the weight at all."

"And the final quirk?" Nezu pressed, "I have a feeling it's the one that you said would pair well with the short distance flames?"

"Yes, the original user was one Nana Shimura," Nezu almost fell off recovery girl "who could fly at the height of her power. It seems her heart has given Izuku the ability to float, when paired with the fire he has thrusters. We're still trying to dig into who donated his liver and what quirk that would give him if any."

A side glance with Recovery girl showed she recognized the name too, "We'll help." Nezu promised, silently hoping All Might didn't freak out when he learned of the situation.

AN: Like I said, shards of other quirks, a bunch of weaker powers rather than one big one. Still unsure on the last one, I'm trying to think of one that would mesh with the others. Original first look had an electric stockpile quirk that I'm unsure about.
