Standing on a stool, looking in a two way mirror, Nezu could only narrow his eyes at the skeletal figure of Allmight. He watched him do his physical therapy, looking for any signs of pain. He had only been released from the hospital about two hours ago, going through about three weeks of surgeries to hopefully heal or at least "patch up" his destroyed respiratory system and intestines. Though he estimated that the surgeries would take three weeks, he expected the recovery to last up to two years at most, even being the cause of Allmight's death. Yet, that was proven completely wrong.
Now, Nezu knew he wasn't immune to being wrong. He had proved that several times, unfortunately. However, there were no variables he hadn't taken into account. No healing quirk the doctor's used, no random civilian with the perfect quirk to help take down All For One, nothing special happened besides Allmight's quick recovery.
Nezu thought more deeply, seeing Allmight hack up a tiny bit of blood. Nothing Recovery Girl, who was in there with him wouldn't see or handle.
Now, where was I?, Nezu thought, picking up his tea on the table next to him. Ah, yes, his hasty recovery. Maybe All For One gave him another quirk?
Nezu snorted. No, that was definitely not it. While All For One was crafty, from what Nezu could tell, he had a deep-seeded hatred of giving "his" Quirks away. Plus, even if All For One did give Allmight a quirk, why give him such a powerful healing one? Why not give him one that would be detrimental to his career?
No, All For One hadn't given Allmight another Quirk, but perhaps-
A memory squirmed in his brain, snapping into focus. He watched a green-haired woman use her Quirk to draw out and- destroy? No, erase- the poison and infections from Allmight's body.
He set his tea down again with a clack. How had he forgotten such an important thing? It made things make sense, but as he delved deeper into his memories, he realized he hadn't seen her again after that. Perhaps she was only needed for one thing, the rest of her skills used for other patients?
His mind scanned through the memorized list of doctors within the Hero Emergency Wing. His hand stroked his chin when the face and green hair color of the lady matched exactly none on his list.
Taking out a laptop from a bag next to him, he searched the Civilian Profiles, Hospital Security Cameras, and Quirk Registries for a similar person, coming across one Inko Midoriya.
Briefly, Nezu swore he read her Quirk to be Cell Scrape before he read Attraction of Small Objects. His Quirk squirmed in his head again, confirming what he read to be true. If there was one thing he was for sure wasn't wrong about, it was memorization. He had read Cell Scrape before it changed.
Looking at current employment, his Quirk activated again. Her employment that once said "Nurse" was now unemployed.
His Quirk snapped again, and with growing confusion and slight horror, he realized everything about the woman, from weight to height to age had changed before his eyes.
But one thing stayed the same, that being her son and husband, Hizashi and Izuku Midoriya. Clicking on her son's Quirk Registry, he had the briefest glance of words, a grimace making it to his face. Nezu read Ignorant Wishes, before it was washed away to say, "Quirkless."
Though his Quirk didn't snap to see the differences, Nezu remembered what he had seen. Going back to the mother's page, his eyes narrowed when it had changed again. Only her height, weight, and employment, which now said lawyer.
Suddenly, a thought came to him, one more horrifying than others. He was sure the boy's Quirk had been the catalyst to these events, and was likely the reason as to why the Quirk Registry and Civilian Profiles had changed. It was obviously some sort of Reality Manipulation, most likely based off of the boy's Wishes. However, the Ignorant part had nearly eluded him. Perhaps everyone needed to be ignorant to his Quirk for it to work?
And that was the thought that scared him. Had… had he destroyed the Quirk of what could be a promising hero? Did it not work now that he knew? Additionally, he realized that his Quirk was definitely not just "High Specs." How had he been able to peer and/or remember through changed reality? If the ignorance part of the boy's Quirk was to be believed, then any thought concerning his Quirk should have been erased.
Sighing, Nezu clicked on the Civilian Profile of Hisashi Midoriya. However, when he looked at the profile, he made a hum of confusion. Nezu could only watch as what should have been Kanji became malformed and unreadable. The photo of what should have been Hisashi Midoriya looked like a bad AI rendering of a forest, ocean, and galaxy mashed together, trying to make a face. Not only that, but the Kanji were now constantly transforming, an unintelligible mess of lines and shapes.
Nezu was brought out of his studying of the Profile to see an unknown caller on his phone. He had an idea as to who it is, now, did he answer it or not?
A small grin on his face, the Chimera picked up the phone and answered. "Are you Hisashi Midoriya?"
"Ah, you know who I am. That's some good deduction skills."
"I wouldn't be the smartest creature alive if I didn't know."
"Well, with that being said, we should get down to business," Hisashi sighed aloud. "I have to ask you to leave any problems concerning my son's or my Quirk alone."
"Seeing how possibly dangerous it is, I don't think I can."
"Fair point, but your active snooping does change reality. I found out long ago that Izuku's Quirk is sentient, and it will cross any line to remain hidden."
"You say it with such humor, Midoriya-san. Are you not affected by it?"
"I guess you can say I am unaffected by little Izu's Quirk, but I am having a hard time making sure it doesn't lash out at anyone, specifically you."
A containment Quirk? Nezu thought. No, far too different. Probably a reality altering Quirk of some kind as well.
"Come on, I just told you I can't have you looking into my son's Quirk, and by extension, my Quirk as well. While mine isn't sentient, I damn well made sure to cover any and all tracks for someone to find it."
"The lack of a trail hasn't stopped me before," Nezu argued with a smile.
"Yeah, well, you'd be killing hundreds if you did find it, and I'll make damn sure I find a way to pin it on your ass, got it?" The man growled at Nezu, causing the Chimera's smile to dim slightly.
"Really set on keeping this a secret?"
"Secrets exist for a reason," Hisashi snapped before mumbling, "Plus, there is no way in hell I'm dealing with the fallout."
Nezu made a show of thinking about it before sighing. "I see, Midoriya-san. I will leave this issue alone, but I at least want you to make sure your son's wishes remain unharmful."
"Ha! I'd be surprised if you could make him make a harmful wish!" Hisashi laughed, switching emotion instantly. "Trust me, don't worry about Izu making harmful wishes. He does want to be a hero, after all."
