Chapter 1 Ghost boy

"Congratulations on your new home Miss Heartfillia." The estate agent said, as they handed the keys to a young blonde witch.

"Thank you. I appreciate your help getting me a good deal on the rent." Lucy replied with a smile, as she took the keys from the estate agent.

"Well you cured my son of his illness, I was more than happy to help a great witch such as yourself."

Lucy smiled warmly and responded,"It was no trouble. Thanks again." Lucy waved the estate agent goodbye. After they had left she took a huge sigh.

She was wearing a black bouffant dress with matching long black gloves. Her hair loose and wavy. She removed one of her gloves which revealed the witches mark on her palms. Taking one hand she uttered a spell and levitated a large box in the air. She ushered the box to follow her into her new home. The box followed her movements as she made her way through the kitchen. As she got to the living room she broke the spell, allowing the box to fall to the ground.

"Right now then." She said to herself as she took a good look around. The house was run down and a bit of a mess. "Nothing I can't fix I suppose." She said smugly as she began using her magic to repair areas of the house. She scoured through the home, going from room to room fixing all things broken. After she was done she felt extremely tired.

"Okay, now I just need to unpack and then I can order some pizza!" She squeeled the last part of that sentence, very excited at the prospect of some food.

As she started to pack away her things she heard a crash from below. Confused she placed down the item of clothing in her hands and listened carefully. Again another large bang echoed from below her.

"Where the hell is that coming from?" She said extremely confused. She followed the sound downstairs and towards the living room. She opened the door, as she walked through she saw a ghostly figure of a man and a broken vase under his floating body. Immediately Lucy began to scream.

"WHAT THE HELL!" She yelled, so loud that it scratched her throat.

The ghost turned to face her and then also began to scream,"AHHHHH WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!"

Lucy felt her pulse quicken, she slowly started to back away from the room.

The ghost noticed the frightened girl start to back away from him. He held out his hands and said apologetically,"No wait! I'm sorry I screamed at you I just-"

"You are a ghost." Lucy interupted.

The ghost nodded, with an awkward smile on his face. "Yeah I am. You're alive. That's pretty freaky to me too."

Lucy stopped her movements and slowly decended to the floor. Wanting to sit down to gather her thoughts. "I'm going crazy again." She spoke to herself, laughing a little at the thought. "I'm seriously loosing my shit."

The ghost interjected,"Ah no you arent crazy actually. I am infact here." As Lucy looked up he was face to face with her.

She put up her hands, as if it were able to stop the ghost from touching her. "Listen, I don't know what's going on right now. But you need to leave."

The ghost yelled offended,"I need to leave! No you need to leave!"

"This is my house." Lucy said bluntly.

"I was here before you." He replied folding his arms across his chest.

Lucy listened to those words and then took a deep breath. "I don't know much about ghosts. But as a witch, I am familiar with the ins and outs."

The ghost hearing perked up at the mention of the word witch. After that, Lucy had his full attention.

Lucy continued,"And as a witch I know that ghosts aren't tied to where they die. So you can freely leave and find somewhere else to haunt."

The ghost started laughing hysterically,"HA HA! You think it's that easy for me to leave? Why the hell would I still be in this shit hole of a place?" He asked as he carried on laughing.

"Well I dont know." Lucy said, feeling her stomach rumble. She was loosing interest quick in her new ghost roommate.

The ghost calmed down before greeting her, holding out his hand,"I'm Natsu. Resident ghost of this apartment. And you are?" Lucy looked at his hand. Then looked at his face. Natsu's body was see through.

"Yknow I can't shake your hand right?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

Natsu chuckled,"Yeah course. But its polite."

Lucy smiled a little, walking past him while saying,"Well since you told me your name, my name is Lucy."

"Oo nice to meet ya Luce." He said with a huge grin, following closely behind her. His feet floating over the floor as he did.

Lucy turned around, stopping Natsu in his tracks. "I hate to be an ass, but this is kind of my home now. And well, I don't really want a roommate."

"But I am the best roommate there is." Natsu spoke proudly. Trying to puff his chest.

Lucy groaned as she pointed to the broken vase on the floor. "This is what comes with the 'best roommate there is', my nice vase is broken."

"Yeah im sorry about that." Natsu said rubbing the back of his head. "You left your box in the living room and I had never seen it before. I honestly thought it appeared there by magic. I was just trying to see what was in the box and accidently broke the vase."

"So you can touch objects?" Lucy said, mildly intrigued.

He nodded,"Yes, but if I get distracted then it just slide through my hands. I have to focus on it."

Lucy nodded and said, "Okay, well still. I need you to leave."

Natsu gave her a sad look,"But I have nowhere to go." He said pitifully.

Lucy rolled her eyes,"You can go anywhere."

Natsu shook his head,"It's really not that simple. Trust me I would if I could."

Lucy sighed loudly. Sitting down on a big bean bag in the living room. She looked up at the sad ghost boy who just hovered there. Waiting for a response. Shaking her head slightly she said,"Fine. You can stay."

"HELL YES!" He celebrated, throwing his hands in the air.

Lucy held up her hands in protest,"Hang on! Let me finish." She said loudly. Natsu slowly set his hands down and locked eyes with her. Lucy continued,"You can stay here, until we figure out where you can go."

Natsu shrugged,"Okay. If that's the deal. Don't expect it to be easy." He grinned at the witch who now had her head in her hands.

"We are going to need some ground rules, if we are going to be living together for a little while." She stated, slowly getting up from the bean bag and grabbing a note pad from her coffee table.

She used her magic to begin writing on the paper with the tip of her fingernail.

"First, you won't touch my stuff. Ever." She said sternly. Natsu nodded.

"Second, you won't follow me around this apartment."

Natsu protested,"But what if I want to talk to you."

Lucy sighed,"Then just shout for me and I'll come to you. I dont want you following me everywhere like a lost puppy."

Natsu grumbled,"Well I haven't spoken to someone in a while, only natural I'd want to talk to you a lot."

Lucy didn't catch the ghosts remarks as she wrote another rule on the page.

"Thirdly, don't use your ghostly abilities to watch me get changed, shower and so forth."

Natsu gasped,"I would NEVER do that! I'm not some pervert."

Lucy shook her head,"Can never be too sure."

Natsu replied floating up over her to see what she was writing on the page. "Anymore rules?" He asked curiously.

"Don't come out when there are guests here." She added.

Natsu groaned loudly, floating away from her. "But that's not fair."

"A lot of people will use you for a profit. Now majority of my friends are cool and wouldn't try to bottle you up and sell your ecsense. But what if I get a delivery and the sketchy delivery driver that dabbles in black magic sees you? Its best to just stay hidden while you are here. If rumours gets out that a ghost is living here, as well as a witch. I'll be in deep shit."

Natsu listened to her carefully before nodding defeated. "Fine." He grumbled.

Lucy smiled slightly,"Thank you. That's about it." She then closed the notepad, placing it back on the coffee table.

They stood in awkward silence for a moment before Natsu spoke up,"So. How old are you?"

Lucy laughed,"I can't believe I'm having a conversation with a dead guy right now."

Natsu pretended to look offended, placing his hand over his heart,"Luce thats so offensive to say to a ghost."

For a second Lucy actually felt guilty. Before she realised he was messing with her. She grabbed a pillow, throwing it at him. Natsu watched as the pillow flew through him onto the other side and on the floor.

"Wow." He said sarcastically. "You are crazy."

Lucy rolled her eyes. "I'm twenty three." She finally answered. Natsu's face perked up.

"Really! I'm twenty one, although maybe I'm older. I haven't been doing well counting the days." He smiled with a big goofy grin.

Lucy asked confused,"wait you don't know for sure?"

Natsu shrugged, floating over towards her. "I don't really know how long I've been dead. As far as I know, I've been here like this for the past 2 weeks. I've been watching the sun rise and set to count the days. Sometimes I forget so it could be longer." He said poiting towards a clock that didn't work, hanging on the wall.

Lucy was curious. She did not know how he couldn't have memories of his death. From what she had studied about supernatural begins. The ghosts were always able to remember their deaths.

"Hmm." She mumbled, thinking to herself. She then asked,"Have you always been in here?" Natsu nodded. Lucy responded with a shocked tone in her voice,"And you haven't figured out how to get out?" Natsu shook his head.

"Everytime I try to leave, I get as far as a step outside the door and then I get pulled back inside."

Lucy was astounded. She never knew this could happen with a ghost. From all her studies, this was the complete opposite of what it should be.

Natsu could see the girl was deep in thought. He laughed a little at her, causing her to break concentration and look at him confused. Natsu said warmly,"You look pretty funny when you space out like that."

Lucy furrowed her brows,"Rude!"

Natsu laughed hard,"I'm sorry but I just find it funny. Your head goes all crinkly up there." He pointed his ghostly finger at her forehead. Lucy realised she had been scrunching her eyebrows while deep in thought. She let out a slight giggle. Natsu was taken back by this, it was the first he had heard her make a sound that didn't sound like she was pissed off.

Lucy realised that this ghost was not a bad guy. Infact, something about his condition seemed odd and not typical of a ghost. She wanted to get to the bottom of it. She spoke in a nice tone,"Look, you seem like a decent guy. So I'll help you okay? I am busy so it'll take a while but I'll do my best to help."

Natsu grinned widely and tried to hug her. Which only ended in him flying straight through her body, which made her shiver.

"Oh forgot, no body." He said laughing. Looking back at Lucy who looked dumbfounded.

"I have a feeling I'm going to regret my decision to help you." She said to herself, as she began to finish packing away her things.
