Trapped in a strange new world Naruto must find a way back home. But when the people he meets either believe he is crazy or have no idea how to help him what can he do? Surely these 'gods' that everyone talks about will know how to help him… right? However, will he really want to leave?

Seek the Wind

Chapter 1: A Destined Encounter

*Windrise*

Standing proud in the large valley of Windrise a great oak tree towers over the nearby scenery casting its shade in a protective embrace over the sacred Statue of the Seven. The massive tree had stood proud amongst the valley for years and had become one of the most popular destinations for the people of Mondstadt, holding it in great reverence. The people of Mondstadt believe that the great tree was a symbol, a memorial left behind after the famed knight Lady Vennessa ascended to Celestia. The tree watches over the Statue of the Seven much like she watches over Mondstadt as the Falcon of the West. As the sun began to descend signaling the beginning of night a lone figure could be seen under the great tree's branches.

"Ow ow ow… the Fatui sure are persistent, must they intrude on a bard's leisure time" Wincing lightly an effeminate-looking teen leaned against the large oak trunk, supporting themselves as they held a hand to the bleeding wound in their side.

The injured teen wore a frilly white top with a corset-like leather midsection, along with teal shorts enhanced with gold embroidery. On their back was a matching teal cape held together by a deep blue and gold bow. An Anemo vision dangled from their left hip as white stockings covered their legs leading down to a pair of rather plain brown shoes. On top of their head was a green beret-like hat with a fresh Cecilia hanging from the side.

Breathing slowly to try and lessen the pain the teen silently cursed the Fatui agents that had been hunting them. The low-ranking pawns that had been on the effeminate teen's trail were usually quite easy to dispatch or run away from and yet they had managed to catch the Anemo vision wielder off guard, a Fatui Cicin Mage piercing the bard's side with one of her lightning attacks.

"Ah-hah! I found you!"

Looking up suddenly the green-wearing teen blinked when they saw a strangely dressed person running towards them. The approaching person, a male teen with wild and spikey blonde hair, was smiling brightly with a relieved and hopeful look on his face as he ran toward the base of the tree.

The running teen was clothed in a strange bright orange and black jacket, bright orange pants, and black sandals, and had a headband with a strange leaf-like symbol carved into a metal plate wrapped around his forehead. His bright blue eyes were partially squinted as his smile curved the strange whisker-like markings on his cheeks. Despite appearing like they were at one time quite nicely made clothes they were now heavily torn and dirty with numerous patches and re-sown stitches, the bright orange still somehow managing to shine through the grime.

"Huh…. Oh well hello there stranger! I guess you did find me, even though I had no idea you were looking for me… You seem like you are in rough shape, you must have been looking for me for a while, you must be one of my diehard fans looking to get a private performance. Well, you know what they say 'As the free winds blow, so too do the great bard's words flow'! Urgh or heheh they would. Um as you can see I sorta ran into a tough crowd, they just didn't appreciate my talents."

Realizing that the young man did not appear hostile, the injured teen decided to treat him kindly. Having no idea who this blonde-haired teen was, the vision bearer had to assume that he was simply a fan… or was a very unintelligent yet happy-go-lucky Fatui.

"Oh, crap, you are injured pretty badly. No no no hang on a second no bleeding out on me I need you!" Noticing the pained look on the other teen's face and the blood that was trailing down their side, the blonde teen crossed the distance between them within the blink of an eye and was right in front of the effeminate teen's face with a panicked look in his eyes.

"Huh" Shocked by the speed at which the orange-clad boy moved the injured teen stiffened up, suddenly becoming wary. 'How did he move so fast even I could barely see him move…. Wait…' Suddenly the blonde's words registered and the injured teen blushed lightly at the seemingly suggestive word choice. "Wha…. You need me..? Uh, look I'm flattered and all but I have no idea who you are and I'm not really looking for anything right now…"

Blinking the blonde teen took a step back before waving his hands in front of himself. "Wait what!? Bah no! Not like that you pervert! I need your help! No no no, I mean you are kind of cute and girly looking but… no, I'm not into guys you know." Switching to a quiet mumble the blonde scrunched his nose into a slightly annoyed expression. "Ugh, stupid Sasuke and that stupid kiss…" A light shudder rolled over his body as he remembered the unintentional lip lock and the subsequent beating he received from the Uchiha's fangirls. "Hold still will you."

Stepping forward again the blonde moved his hand up to the injured teen's side before his hand began to glow with a bright golden light. "Huh, that's weird… some kind of cut-off undershirt or something..." As he focused his energy on the other teen's wound he noticed a strip of fabric through the hole in the teen's shirt that seemed to rap around their chest. "Must be some kind of fashion thing…"

The green-wearing teen's wariness, suspicion, and urge to back away from the blonde disappeared as a pleasant feeling began to flood their body. "Oh, that feels warm." The feeling was so warm and soothing like the sun was bathing down directly onto the teen's body that a loud and surprising noise came out of their mouth. "Uhaahhhh…"

"Dude did you just moan…. Don't do that while I'm trying to heal you jeez. There all healed up, quite a nasty shock you had there, lightning is the worst." Taking a step back the blonde put his hands on his hips with an uneasy smile on his face, slightly disturbed by the erotic moan that came from the formerly injured teen.

"What how did you do that? My wound is gone…" With a light blush on their cheeks from embarrassment the effeminate teen examined their body finding that their injury was gone, the flesh healed completely.

"Uh, I just healed you it's not that important… look my name is Naruto Uzumaki. I've been looking for you for a long time now and I need your help. You are that wind… ah I mean anemo Archon Bartobas guy right?" Rubbing the back of his neck the blonde, Naruto, stood a few steps away from the previously injured teen, his foot tapping slightly on the ground below out of nervous anticipation, hoping that he finally found someone who could help him.

A confused and slightly miffed expression flashed on the green-wearing teen's face for a second as their eye twitched lightly before a more aloof yet neutral expression fell into place. "Bartobas….. don't you mean Barbatos…?"

Crossing his arms somewhat childishly Naruto shook his head. "Nuh uh, Bartobas! That grumpy nun with the big boobs at the church said the wind- ah anemo god guy was named Bartobas." Uncrossing his arms he pointed his finger at the shorter teen. "That's you!"

The effeminate teen sweatdropped at the blonde's strange and boyish personality, his blunt description of the Church of Favonius nun, and the blatantly incorrect name. "What kind of nun doesn't even know the right name…"

The nuns from the Church of Favonius were usually quite devoted and zealous when it came to their work and worship, hearing that one of the nuns apparently didn't even know the name of the Archon that they worshipped was surprising, and actually quite humorous. "Ah, she must have been mistaken, the anemo Archon's name is Barbatos…. But as much as I appreciate you healing me." The teen looked down at their healed side once again. "However you did that"

Summoning up an elegant lyre the girly-looking teen began to strum a few notes. "I do wish I could help you but I'm not him, I am just a humble bard. Want to hear a song?"

A frustrated tick appeared on Naruto's face as his eyelid twitched lightly. "Yah right! You know! I can sense you!"

"You can sense me..? Ah, do you mean to say you can use Elemental Sight?" A confused and intrigued look appeared on the shorter teen's face as they stopped strumming their lyre. Healing powers, and some form of sensing… who was this strange person.

"Nah, I have no idea what Elemental Sight is. I can just sense you it's one of my abilities… Look I'm not from this world OK! I don't belong here, I was just sitting at Ichiraku Ramen eating the food of the gods, and then all of a sudden WHOOSH! I blink my eyes and I'm falling from the sky over an ocean or sea or whatever. When I get to shore these weird monster things attack me, then when I finally find some people they are dressed all weirdly and can't understand a word I'm saying! Ugh, it took so much studying to figure out how to read let alone even talk to people, and then they think I'm crazy! Please you have to help me I want to go home!" Letting his pent-up frustration and desperation finally get to him the blonde began yelling and gesturing wildly with his arms before lowering his shoulders in defeat. Looking at the shorter teen in front of him the blonde clasped his hands together in an almost prayer-like pose as dispirited tears began to well up in the corner of his eyes.

"Ah… Wow… Um, look Naruto right? I can't help you, I'm just a bard…" The green-wearing teen flinched lightly as they lied to the sad and desperate boy who stood in front of them. When compared to the smile that he had when he first appeared by the tree roots the nearly broken visage that he now held looked wrong on his face, almost as if he should be always smiling. The shorter teen was actually considering going back on their previous words and helping the other teen when a light flutter of wind and tingle in the back of their head broke their attention away from the orange-wearing boy. "Dvalin…"

In a flash, the lyre that the teen had been holding vanished and a slightly apologetic look appeared on their face. "Hey thanks for healing me but I have to go now… I'm sorry."

Despite the blond attempting to stop the green-clad teen, they quickly vanished in a flash of luminescent green light leaving Naruto behind as he cursed.

"Damn it, don't run away!" His forward momentum continued to carry him forward after his failed lunge, causing the blonde to stumble before righting himself. "What a jerk! Man, that didn't go how I was hoping… With how much that Barbara girl praised this guy I was sure he would help me..." Slouching down onto his butt with his back against the tree Naruto took a moment to calm himself down and wipe a few tears from his whiskered cheeks.

Closing his eyes and leaning his head against the tree Naruto let the soothing feel of nature calm him down as he thought about all that had happened throughout his life to get to this point. The horror of Kurama's attack on the day of his birth, the death of his parents, his crappy childhood, his time as a member of Team 7, traveling with Ero-Sennin, the war, the battle against Kaguya and then Sasuke, the brief time he got to enjoy after the war, and now this…

It had been six months since he had been mysteriously and rudely transported to this world and taken away from all of his friends. Were his friends looking for him? Did they think he was dead? How did he end up here? Why? Whoever or whatever dropped him in this world was going to get their ass kicked if he ever found them.

Naruto never imagined, after the battle with Sasuke, that he would be cursing himself for sealing away his ex-best friend's chakra. The bastard definitely deserved to be punished for all of the crimes that he committed after leaving the village and he was too dangerous to be allowed to roam around freely with all of his abilities still available to him. The five Kage agreed and ordered him to seal all of the last Uchiha's chakra away until he could prove that he was trustworthy and actually meant what he said when he told Naruto that he wanted to turn over a new leaf.

It seemed like that backfired… but who could have predicted this? Out of anyone, Sasuke had the capability to find him and return him home. The Rinnesharingan was more than capable of opening portals to different dimensions and due to Naruto's massive chakra, made even larger by all of the Biju, Sasuke could have detected and come to this world to bring him back. However with the Uchiha's chakra sealed that wasn't possible and as he was the one to seal away Sasuke's chakra, he was the only one who could unseal it, meaning that Naruto had to find his own way home.

It was quite obvious that he was in some form of different dimension, everything was different, and no one had chakra. That was quite jarring to discover, it was a pretty much universally accepted fact in the Elemental Nations that one needed chakra to live, and running out of chakra meant death, yet it seemed now that was only the case for his world.

Alongside learning how to read and speak this world's language he also had to spend a significant amount of time learning to sense the people and creatures of Teyvat. While they might not have chakra they did have an internal energy, however it was extremely hard to detect due to how little everyone had. Vision holders, as he came to learn, had more energy than non-vision holders and he had discovered that those with visions had their energy changed to lean almost exclusively toward the element of their vision.

Once he figured out how to detect the strange energy of this world he set his sights on finding these 'Archons' or 'gods'. If anyone could help him return home it was them and he had spent any time he had in between completing miscellaneous quests and commissions that he needed to undertake to afford food, to find the Anemo Archon, the 'god' that was worshipped in Mondstadt. It was almost funny now that he thought about it, throughout his time tracking the Anemo god it seemed like he moved from place to place in a flurry almost like the wind breezing through the trees.

After chasing after the 'god' for what felt like forever he had finally found him and yet he was essentially back to square one, with nothing to show for his efforts. "Snap out of it Uzumaki! Ugh" Slapping his cheeks with his palms Naruto slowed his breathing and focused on calming himself, knowing that his friends wouldn't want to see him like this, no matter how much he deserved to feel depressed.

Closing his eyes and moving to a meditative position the blonde centered himself before allowing a small amount of natural energy to enter his body. He didn't want to take in too much, the natural energy of this world was just as strange as everything else. The first time that he entered sage mode to try and get a better sense of this world he knew something was wrong. Despite the abundance of nature that could be found all around him its energy felt… tainted.

As soon as he drew in the natural energy for the first time he began to hear strange whispers in a language that he did not understand, his head throbbed, and strange grey scales began to appear on his skin. As he felt his thoughts begin to grow cloudy he immediately ejected the energy from his body. Gasping for breath as the last remains of the energy left his system he heard a faint whisper and what sounded like crying. "Help me… Please!" Blinking and checking over his body he was relieved to find that the strange scales had disappeared and he immediately felt better.

After that, he limited himself to only drawing on small amounts of natural energy. He did however wonder what exactly happened, where that small and weak voice came from, and what all of it had to do with the glowing vision that appeared in his lap. He learned that the vision that appeared before him was a Dendro vision and that it was the element of trees, plants, and nature. He eventually assumed that he received the vision because of his connection to nature as a sage but the whole situation only brought him more questions.

Naruto never actually ended up using the vision, seeing no need and having no idea how to use it, instead sealing it away in one of his storage seals alongside the glowing Anemo and Pyro visions that had appeared before him on his first day in this world. Despite sealing it away it seemed like the Dendro vision did help him in some ways as he found he was able to better manage Teyvat's natural energy and draw in a bit more before he felt any of the negative effects that he felt his first time drawing on the energy.

Drawing on nature to calm himself down the blonde sat in silence underneath the great tree, slowly moving past his depressive thoughts and remotivating himself to move forward. His brow furrowed every so often as his concentration was occasionally thrown off by the barely audible sound of crying that seemed to enter the back of his ear whenever he connected to nature. It was a concern that floated through his mind when he wasn't entirely focusing on finding a way home. Whoever that voice belonged to was in so much pain and sounded so desperate for help.

Despite wanting to brush off the problems that this world was facing and go home as soon as possible it just wasn't in the blonde Uzumaki's blood to ignore those suffering. The orange-loving teen had already built up a reputation in Mondstadt for helping people in need and had unknowingly created quite a few fangirls throughout the city due to his looks and kind spirit. He knew in his heart that before he left this world he would find whoever it was that was crying and help them.

He took some time to relax and refocus his senses to try and find the Anemo Archon once again. Suddenly feeling a large energy signature high up in the air above him Naruto's eyes snapped open and turned to look at the sky before they widened significantly. Tearing through the sky was what looked like a meteor or shooting star of some kind that appeared to be on a crash course with the ground somewhere to the north.

"What in the world…" Jumping up to his feet the whiskered Outlander took off in a sprint in the direction that the meteor was traveling. It was certainly not a normal shooting star, not with the feelings and power that he could sense coming from the bright ball of light. As he saw it disappear beneath the edge of the cliffs in the distance he had to wonder what he would find, unknowing that his fate would soon become intertwined with this world.

Notes:

In this AU, Venti is actually a girl who is and has been hiding her gender. Just like in canon Teyvat Venti's current form is modeled after her deceased friend, however unlike the other Archons who can change their form to whatever they want, Venti (for some reason unknown to her) is always a female no matter what form she changes into. Just like in canon Venti is not actually human (originally being a small elemental spirit) but having attained godhood and become one of the seven Archons she is able to take on a fully human form.

Naruto did not lose an arm in the battle with Sasuke. The nine Biju managed to escape into Naruto's seal before they could be captured and used by Sasuke. Yes, Naruto currently has all nine Biju sealed inside of himself, however, when he was (mysteriously) dumped into Teyvat all of the Biju were sent into a deep slumber and he has been unable to communicate with them since.

Drawing on natural energy did begin to taint Naruto with Forbidden Knowledge and Eleazar, however, he was able to purge it from his body.

Yes, Naruto has more than one vision, however, he sees no point in using them and has no idea how to anyway.
