Chapter 648: Unusual Rapid Construction

In the elven colony, the news of Commander Bunduk's complete victory quickly spread to the main city of Drondheim.

Kant was currently having his usual afternoon tea. When he received the news of Bunduk's victory, he immediately smiled in victory.

The significance of this battle was extraordinary and incomparable. Commander Bunduk did not make the same mistake as Commander Pam. This was the most meaningful thing for Kant, he was prepared to celebrate the return of Commander Bunduk throughout the country.

Therefore, he quickly issued orders to the merchants in the city-state. These merchants had a large number of funds in the city-state, but they still needed the protection of the city-state. Therefore, when they heard the news of Commander Bunduk's victory, they were naturally overjoyed. The merchants all united and prepared to hold a grand welcome.

In the evening, when the Sun in the sky was about to set at the foot of the mountain, a group of people appeared in the main city of Drondheim.

Commander Bunduk looked so high-spirited. At this moment, his young soldiers were all wearing proud smiles. These young soldiers did not disappoint Kant, which was also something that made Kant feel extremely gratified.

On this day, all the drinks in the main city of Drondheim were free. Everyone was celebrating in the entire country. They shouted, in order to celebrate the victory of Commander Bunduk, they seemed to have forgotten the sacrifice of Commander Pam and his 1,000 cavalry soldiers a few days ago. The lights were on throughout the night, and the drinks were scattered in the air. Everyone seemed to have forgotten the existence of the day.

In the city-state, there were countless performances. The young soldiers were praised by the residents. In an instant, they became the heroes of Drondheim overnight.

Commander Bunduk and Lord Kant were at the tea party at the moment.

Kant took a sip of the wine in his hand and said to Commander Bunduk, "All the credit for achieving such a victory should go to Commander Bunduk!"

Upon hearing Kant's praise, Bunduk immediately sat up straight, he said, "Thank you, Lord Kant, for your praise, but this time, the credit is not mine alone. I rely more on the confident soldiers and the leadership of the great Lord Kant. Otherwise, we would not be able to see the dawn of victory."

In terms of flattery, no one could compare to Bunduk. He could push all the credit for one thing onto others as if he had no credit at all.

Kant smiled and said, "Commander Bunduk, aren't you being too polite? If I say it's your credit, it's your credit. Tell me, what reward do you want, beauty, money, or more…"

Kant looked at Bunduk with a faint smile.

Bunduk admitted that his forehead was covered in sweat. He had to be careful when talking to this troublesome lord. Otherwise, one day he might lose his head. This was definitely not the result he wanted.

Bunduk shook his head like a leaf fan and replied to Lord Kant, "My Lord, I don't need any rewards. To be able to obtain honor for Drondheim, to be able to obtain victory for Lord Kant, and to keep the peace in Drondheim is the greatest reward for me. If I really have to be rewarded, then I hope that Lord Kant can continue to lead Drondheim on the road of prosperity and strength!"

Bunduk said a lot of things at once, and Kant was at a loss for words.

It was indeed as Bunduk had said. Right now, Drondheim was not strong enough, and this victory was just a fluke. It was the same for Drondheim and the elven colony, they should not have put up lanterns and banners for such a thing. This would instead cause more people and soldiers to be caught off guard. Drondheim's fields were also very limited, except for some who grew millet and rice, there were only about 100 acres left to grow other vegetation, and the food had to be provided to all the residents.

Although the city of Drondheim was close to the lake, the lake water had been showing signs of drying up recently, which was very unfavorable. It seemed that Drondheim would not be a good place to live soon.

That was why Kant would pay any price to ask the king of the elven colony to use 15% of the land in exchange. Although the elven colony was small, the freshwater resources around it were much more than Drondheim's, in addition to the special physique of the elves, they rarely needed to drink freshwater, which resulted in the waste of freshwater. In addition, many fields in the elven colony could not be improved, and those fields were not cultivated in a timely manner, they would soon lose their value for use.

These were all factors Kant considered. Kant also wanted to take over the Lyme Empire, so that Drondheim could connect to the elven colony and not be afraid of someone interfering.

Kant's idea was very ideal, but he did not know if it would have any value if it was implemented. This was not something he could accurately predict at the moment, however, taking back 15% of the elven colony's territory was indeed an urgent matter.

After a night of indulgence, Kant personally led more than a thousand soldiers to the elven colony. He was going to complete the task of handing over the territory.

When he arrived at the elven colony, Kant saw that the people here were in deep trouble.

The elven colony had always been known as a rich place. They used to be a utopia in this desert, but now, there were shabby houses, the cries of the old and young elves could be heard everywhere on this land, it was like a living hell.

Kant slowly stepped on this land. He did not have the ability to change the current situation of this land. The reason why these elves had fallen to such a state was largely due to the wrong leadership of the Elf King. Although the Elf King was a kind-hearted elf, he still did not have the ability to govern this piece of land. Although he had a high-level rank, he was too weak that he couldn't even kill the undead soldiers.

Kant met the Elf King in the royal palace.

He politely stepped forward and shook hands, saying, "Your Highness, you have been glowing recently. As expected, after winning the war, your spirit has changed."

The Elf King laughed and said, "This is all thanks to the leadership of Commander Bunduk. Without him, I believe that the elven colony would have fallen into the hands of the undead soldiers by now."

Bunduk looked outside and said, "Elf King, I wonder if there are still undead soldiers coming to attack?"

Chapter 649: The Supreme and Glorious Kant

The Elf King shook his head, he said, "Most of the undead soldiers have been chased out of the elven colony by Commander Bunduk. Lord Kant, when you return, you must give my regards to Commander Bunduk. If it weren't for his proper command, I might not be able to stand here and talk to you."

The Elf King's expression showed his respect for Commander Bunduk and Kant saw all of this.

Kant nodded and continued, "I will sincerely express the Elf King's gratitude to Commander Bunduk."

"Then I'll have to trouble you!" the Elf King said.

"Elf King, I'm sure you know the purpose of my visit."

Kant said directly, beckoning his attendant to take the note.

He handed the treaty to the Elf King and said solemnly, "Elf King, now is the time to honor your promise."

The Elf King laughed loudly, he said, "Lord Kant, don't you believe in me? "I will immediately arrange for you to cede your territory. After all, you have once again saved the elven colony. This 15% of the territory was originally vacant. Since you want this piece of land, then of course there is no problem."

In the afternoon, the Elf King completed these procedures.

And that 15% of the land was also handed over to Kant.

Kant led 1,000 soldiers to live in this land.

This land was still in an undeveloped status in the elven colony. Most of the soil here was still in its original state, and there was not much fertility. Kant was going to fertilize this land, he suggested that the Elf King transport all the excrement of the city-state over, while Kant would inject the excrement into the soil. There was still a large amount of fresh water on this land, so Kant and the others' drinking water was not a problem.

Kant also set up some craftsmen to design a device that could desalinate seawater into freshwater, and then transport the seawater to this territory through pipes.

The elven colony was located closer to the sea, so this project could be completed easily.

As for the construction of the houses, Kant did not have any intention of slacking off. With the craftsman elves' help from the elven colony, overall, this territory had begun to prosper under Kant's setup.

The Elf King was indescribably surprised to see Kant's outstanding achievements. In his opinion, humans were a stupid race. They only knew how to create offensive items. However, what he did not expect was that the construction of the human houses and various facilities were also perfect.

He suddenly felt that the elves were not the noblest and most intelligent race in the world. Most of the elves were lazy. They were not as diligent as humans.

They often spent three days fishing and two days racing the net, and could not do anything at all. However, Bunduk and Pam had only made the Elf King understand one thing, and that was to truly succeed or to be invincible, the first thing that was needed was unity. Just as Bunduk had said, if the entire group was like a pile of loose sand, then this team would not last long.

The Elf King also hoped that his people could unite and fight against the outside world, but his leadership ability did not allow him to do so. He was just a small manager, and those ministers also held power.

In fact, the Elf King also knew that some ministers were secretly sending their families to a safe place. As for the other ordinary people in this country, their lives and deaths were nothing to those elven ministers, this was also one of the saddest parts of this country.

It was also one of the things that gave the Elf King a huge headache.

Seeing that Kant's territory was beginning to be constructed decently, the Elf King's heart was filled with endless emotions. If he could have such an ability one day, then the elven colony would definitely not be in its current state, but was it possible?

The Elf King silently thought that this possibility was very small. It could be said that his ministers did not take him seriously as a king. Many times, he hoped that he could get some help from his ministers, but the ministers only valued their own lives more than anything else. This was also why the elven colony would continue to fall rather than soaring to the skies.

As for the displaced citizens, the Elf King naturally wanted to help them, but he did not have the ability or the financial resources. If possible, he also hoped that every citizen of the elven colonies could have a hot meal instead of enduring the cold and hunger every day. This was not his original intention as the Elf King.

Kant's estate was still under construction, and Kant was quite satisfied with the results. However, there were still many wooden houses that were not decent enough. If they were affected by a strong wind, they would still be destroyed, Kant found a craftsman and asked him to go to the northern domain to find a plant called the thousand-faced flower. As long as this plant was mixed into the wood, the toughness of the wood would be greatly strengthened.

Most of the wood was directly taken from the trees, but it had not been processed. The wood that had been basked in the sun was still wet and dry. Only by modern equipment could it be completely turned into air-dried wood, however, in such a place, Kant really did not have the ability to make tools to completely dry the wood.

That was why he asked the craftsmen to gather some of these materials and mix them into the wood. The wood would evaporate water faster, and it won't even take two days and nights. This would also greatly increase the construction speed.

Anyway, under Kant's wise leadership, these workers worked twice as hard and quickly built more than twenty wooden houses.

These wooden houses could provide more than 1,000 residents of Drondheim to move in. According to Kant's estimation, more than 3,000 residents of Drondheim could move in. After all, the territory of the elven colony was still very large.

This 15% territory had 64 square kilometers of land, which was enough for more than 10,000 residents of Drondheim to live in. However, Kant did not want so many residents to move in. The main purpose of this place was to develop agriculture, to produce agricultural products, or to raise some livestock, these were all things Kant considered.

Chapter 650: Smooth Construction

The construction had been smooth all along.

Bunduk's territory was officially named Cumberland. It was included in the map of Drondheim.

When the news spread to the country, many letters from Drondheim said that they wanted to find a job here so that they could live in Cumberland.

Kant discussed with Bunduk and told his men to reply to the owners of these letters. He also published the "Cumberland Application Form" in the General Union of Drondheim. It said that within two months, the first batch of citizens would be selected from the people who filled in the form. It was said that up to now, nearly ten thousand copies of this form had been sent out.

The days in Cumberland were still very hard and boring because it was like a construction site that was to be developed. There were few people, and the infrastructure was not complete.

Kant usually spent most of his time on the construction site, talking to the craftsmen and discussing what to do next. During dinner, he had dinner with the workers and the soldiers who came back from the sentry post.

At the dining table, listening to the soldiers at the next table complaining about the trouble caused by the refugee elves, Kant found that there was indeed a security problem at the border between Cumberland and the Elf Kingdom, which he had missed.

He had also heard from the logistics person in charge of picking up goods that the refugee elves hiding in the mountains would steal their goods from time to time.

Even though he had brought his soldiers with him, he could not persuade them to leave.

While Kant was still thinking about how to solve this problem, the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Elf Kingdom came to his door.

"I have long heard of Commander Bunduk's name. This is the first time we have met. He is indeed a man of great spirit, a general of great talent," the Foreign Affairs Minister praised.

"You flatter me. Your visit has graced this humble place of mine," Bunduk replied politely. Then, he changed the topic and asked, "But, what is the reason for your travel to and from this place?"

"Haha, I just heard that there are frequent robberies at the border of your estate, so I came to give you some suggestions," the Foreign Affairs Minister replied with a smile.

"Well, I have been feeling depressed about this matter for the past few days. I wonder what your suggestion is?"

"The refugee on the border is indeed a big disaster, but they are only affected by the situation in the Elf Kingdom, and that's why they wander in the mountains and forests like bandits. My personal idea is to use these refugees as the manpower base to create a large-scale free trade market at the intersection of the two countries," the Foreign Affairs Minister suggested.

"This is a good suggestion. However, the system of this trade area…?" Bunduk understood the Foreign Affairs Minister's thoughts and hesitated.

"I think you can be the representative to formulate the appropriate regulations," the Foreign Affairs Minister said frankly.

After a while, Bunduk first nodded and said, "Thank you for your suggestion. However, I want to wait until more residents move into this estate before I consider how to implement this plan."

"Alright, I hope that your construction can be completed as soon as possible. If there's any inconvenience, feel free to contact me."

After bidding farewell to Bunduk, the Foreign Affairs Minister left in a carriage. Bunduk sent an army to escort them to the border.

Kant had been standing by the side and listening quietly.

When Bunduk asked for his opinion, Kant replied, "I think we can give it a try. This plan is also very suitable for the current situation in Cumberland."

Bunduk recommended Kant to become the supervisor of the trade market and be responsible for the communication with the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Elf Kingdom.

Kant took his men to the border to look for a suitable place to build a market.

They found a wide flat land with a relatively stable transportation route. Because it was backed by the North Canyon, they named the market the North Market.

After Kant passed on his information to the Foreign Affairs Minister, a few days later, the Elf King's messenger sent the news that the Elf King wanted to meet Kant.

After Kant rested for a night, he sat in the carriage with the messenger and arrived at the Elf Kingdom's imperial capital.

He was led to the imperial palace by an attendant. When the Elf King, who was sitting in the middle, saw him, he stood up from his seat happily.

"Welcome, welcome. I didn't expect to see you again so soon," said the Elf King.

Kant walked forward and bowed. He smiled and said, "Your Highness, I wonder if today's meeting is about the trade market that the Foreign Affairs Minister mentioned?"

"Yes, I heard that you plan to help me subdue the refugees in the mountains. I'm very touched. Naturally, I want to treat you to a feast," said the Elf King.

As soon as he finished speaking, a row of attendants brought many dishes and snacks from outside the hall and placed them on the table.

"This idea was proposed by the Foreign Affairs Minister. The dishes on this table should also be shared with him. In the end, I will be the one to finish everything by myself."

The Elf King laughed and said, "It's okay. I have already rewarded him and the Foreign Affairs Minister said 'General, you will be the main force of this market plan. I believe that with your talent, you will definitely make the border between the two countries peaceful and rich. In this regard, the elven royal family will definitely not hesitate to support you.'"

"Your Highness is too kind, but if we want to completely manage the order of the market, we really need a lot of your help and permission," Kant said.

"No problem. The basic reason for establishing this market is that the people of the two countries can get along peacefully."

Kant was in the royal palace chatting with the Elf King about the current situation between the two countries.

After drinking a cup of wine, he had no choice but to leave.

The next morning, Kant received the news that Bunduk was going to lead the soldiers back to the country.

He went to Bunduk's residence and asked about the specific situation and details.

"I've already asked Drondheim to send an army to Cumberland for daily deployment. You guys stay here and don't worry about the safety of the guards. When the army arrives, the soldiers and I who are stationed here will return to the country," Bunduk explained carefully.

"Then about the residents' population?" Kant asked again.

"The residents' population is up to you to decide. I think you should have a corresponding plan in your mind," Bunduk replied. "I have to go back to deal with the affairs of the capital as soon as possible. After you finish the construction here, you have to go back to Drondheim as well," Bunduk instructed.

Kant nodded in response.

Three days later, the newly stationed army arrived. Bunduk took all the soldiers and set off for Drondheim.

The new army general was called Kagaya. He was a man with a fierce personality and high combat strength. He had more than ten years of military experience, and his troops listened to him very well.

Kant often asked him about the situation at the border. It seemed that the border was much calmer than before.

Chapter 651: The dwarfs who came

It was probably due to both the garrison and the Elf Kingdom.

The construction of the wooden houses was coming to an end, and Kant was very satisfied with the results.

The first batch of people to move to Cumberland from Drondheim was set at about 1,300. Kant and the others picked the ones with experience in agriculture and farming as the focus and they selected suitable people from all kinds of jobs to live in Cumberland.

Of course, age was also a very important selection point. The age standard for people living in Cumberland was set at the juvenile to the middle-aged stage. However, for those who applied for the entire family to move, a special level of care would be given, depending on the specific circumstances.

After all, the main purpose of the request to cede land was to develop this place into an independent product export location. The first batch of residents, Drondheim, also represented the local labor force needed at the moment.

Kant's goal was to get Cumberland on the right track quickly and to maintain the output.

After the list of residents was released, everyone on the list received letters from Cumberland. Kant wrote at the end of the letter that he would give everyone who received the invitation a week to prepare. After a week, Drondheim's army would escort them to Cumberland.

During this week, Kant and the craftsmen would go to the seaside from time to time to explore, hoping to find a suitable place to build a harbor.

According to the map, the journey from Cumberland to Drondheim was smooth sailing. Compared to the three or four days of road traffic, the ships at sea were the best way to transport goods.

After a few days of investigation, Kant finally found a suitable place to build a harbor. However, the construction of the harbor still required the guidance of a professional designer and the help of an experienced technical team.

Kant went to neighboring countries every day for this, but he heard that no construction team in the Elf Kingdom targeted the harbor.

After asking the Foreign Affairs Minister for help, he received a reply, the only seaport in the Elf Kingdom was built by the craftsmen of the Dwarf Kingdom.

Kant had never dealt with the people of the Dwarf Kingdom before, and when he was considering whether to go back to the Elf Kingdom to ask for help.

After going to the Elf Kingdom's Port of Corias, he made up his mind to invite the craftsmen of the Dwarf Kingdom.

The craftsmanship of the Dwarf Kingdom was very natural. Every inch of the Port of Corias was as beautiful and natural as if it was intact.

The Foreign Affairs Minister gave Kant the way to contact the Dwarf Kingdom, he said to Kant, "The craftsmen of the Dwarf Kingdom have some stubborn and strange temperaments. After all, they are arrogant. If you really want to invite them, you have to cooperate with their ideas."

Kant did not care about this. He had seen many people with such temperaments. They just needed you to carefully communicate with them. Of course, in a specialized field, there was very little room for discussion.

A week had passed, and Kant had sent an invitation letter to the Dwarf Kingdom. But there was still no reply.

The people who had migrated from Drondheim were about to arrive. Kant asked the back-office staff to move the basic supplies into the small wooden houses. He also picked a medicine called tufted grass in the mountains and made it into incense. He put a few in each wooden house to keep out insects and moisture.

When all the people arrived, the wooden houses were ready to be occupied.

When more than 100 families came to Cumberland by carriage, Kant did not go out to greet them. Because he was not used to being stared at by too many people. After leaving all the procedures of the reception to his subordinates. Kant went to the main city of Elf City alone. The Foreign Affairs Minister asked Kant to have a drink today.

Kant also took the opportunity to get away from the complicated affairs for a while.

When he arrived at the restaurant in the downtown area of the city, the Foreign Affairs Minister had been sitting there waiting for him for a long time.

Kant could still feel that the Foreign Affairs Minister admired him, but he did not know where this admiration came from.

The Foreign Affairs Minister asked unintentionally during the banquet, and said with a melancholic expression, "Actually, I'm quite envious of you. You're talented, and you're valued by your commanders."

"The Foreign Affairs Minister must also be highly valued by the Elf King. Back then, we discussed the market project. The Elf King also said that he would give his full support behind the scenes. Wasn't that suggestion originally put forward by you?" Kant replied.

"No, our Elf King has never shown his strength to the people. He's always hiding behind the curtain, unable to make any decisions. He's just happy that someone took the initiative to help him solve some of his problems." the Foreign Affairs Minister was already drunk, he answered vaguely.

As soon as he finished speaking, he fell to the side.

Kant walked out of the restaurant and asked the attendants of the Foreign Affairs Minister to escort him back to his residence.

Then he took a carriage back to Cumberland's residence. The small wooden houses that used to be dark and silent were lit up tonight.

Kant could hear the voices of the people in the houses when he passed by.

For some reason, his heart also felt much warmer.

Some people said that there were two kinds of people in the world who were the loneliest. One was the kind who would feel unhappy when he saw others happy. The other was the kind who would feel warmer when he saw the shadow of happiness in others even when he was outside.

Kant felt that he belonged to the latter kind at this moment.

He dragged his tired body to bed and closed his eyes to sleep. Tomorrow was another new day.

After a week, the new people had already familiarized themselves with their work content, although there was no real output. But if this momentum continued, Cumberland should soon become a well-organized agricultural production area.

The people of the Dwarf Kingdom sent a reply, promising to take on this project, but the treatment they requested was also very shocking.

Kant, after asking Bunduk, gave a positive answer to the Dwarf Kingdom.

On the fourth day after the reply was sent, the craftsmen of the Dwarf Kingdom arrived at the Port of Corias on a ship they had built.

Kant went to receive them personally according to the contract.

For the first time, he got to know the craftsmen from the Dwarf Kingdom.

There were about twenty people who came. They were not very tall, only about 1.3 meters.

All of them had fiery red hair on their heads, and they looked a little restless.

They had been whispering since they got off the ship. They spoke very fast, and it sounded like the language of their own race.

"Can you speak the human language?" Kant asked.

Communication was a big problem.

"Yes…" the girl at the front of the line replied.

Kant's eyes lit up. He had noticed this quiet little girl from the beginning. She seemed to be the leader of this group of dwarves.

Chapter 652: Small Developments in Cumberland

After the little girl spoke, the dwarf craftsmen were quiet for a while.

Then, they began to clamor again until they got into the carriage, which also made the whole carriage very noisy.

Kant glanced at the girl sitting in the front row and continued to talk to her. "What's your name? Are you their leader?"

"Yes, my name is Vivian," the girl said timidly.

"Don't always talk to little Vivian," the dwarf sitting in the back interrupted.

"Why?" the dwarf sitting next to him asked.

"Because she will be angry."

"I think she will only be angry with you."

"Wrong, you are wrong. She is a stubborn and strange fellow."

"That's because you've provoked her temper…"

The two dwarfs began to argue. The red hair on their heads seemed to have turned redder. It was like the maple leaves of autumn.

Kant shook his head and looked at Vivian. He found that her face was very red. He did not know if it was because she was nervous or something else.

Thinking that this leader was quite special, he did not take the initiative to say anything more.

When they arrived in Cumberland, the dwarf craftsmen crowded out of the carriage, startling the peasants who were resting in the field.

It was also the first time they had seen a race other than Drondheim on such an occasion.

Kant took the group to the arranged residence and wanted them to rest for a night. They would start work tomorrow.

But after hearing his plan, all the dwarf craftsmen, on behalf of the leader, raised their objections.

"We want to start work immediately," said Vivian, who stood at the front of the team.

"Why? You have just arrived here. You should leave some time to familiarize yourself with the water and soil here," Kant said his considerations.

"Our country is going to move soon. We need to go back quickly," Vivian explained.

"Move? Are you going to move the entire Dwarf Kingdom?" Kant asked in surprise.

"Yes, we move every half a century."

"Why? Is there a reason?" Kant was puzzled.

"No, we just don't want to stay in the same place for too long."

Kant recalled that he had heard of dwarfs having such a habit. He was shocked when he found out. After thinking for a while, Kant asked, "So you still need to hurry back to help?"

Vivian and the dwarf craftsmen behind her nodded in unison.

"Alright, I'll go and get the blueprints. You guys go to the construction site first," Kant said to everyone. He turned around and left.

His subordinates led everyone to the site of the initial survey.

When Kant reached the shore, he heard the sound of steel colliding from afar.

Then he saw a group of dwarf craftsmen using various tools to cut the basic materials piled under the rain cloth into a whole line.

"You're starting work now?" Kant asked loudly.

"These are the basic preparatory work. All of our projects started from here." All the dwarf craftsmen were working hard. Only Vivian, who was standing idly by the side, answered Kant's question.

Kant walked forward, handed the blueprint to her, and asked, "Miss Vivian, are you the commander in charge?"

"I don't participate because my hands have been injured. The hands of the dwarfs are a gift from God. Without these hands, it would be impossible to complete the perfect work. How could I destroy everyone's hard work?" Vivian explained with a smile.

"I see," Kant replied apologetically. "I believe that Vivian will be excellent as a commander. I'll have to trouble you with this project."

"Thank you. Leave it to us and don't worry," Vivian took the blueprint.

Kant hesitated for a moment, then said goodbye and left.

He had heard the Foreign Affairs Minister's advice that when the dwarfs were building a project, they must not interfere on the way.

Now it seemed that they did have such a habit.

He did not have to worry about it anymore.

He hoped that he could finally see the finished product in good condition.

Two months had passed, and the agriculture and livestock industry that Cumberland advocated had begun to bear fruit. After being processed into a variety of finished products, the first batch of Cumberland's exports had been cataloged and stored.

The construction speed of the North Shore Port had also reached its peak, and it was estimated that it would be officially completed by August.

These days, although the dwarf craftsmen always start work early and end work late on the construction site, they were also much more familiar with the people who took care of their daily life and food.

After understanding them, Kant knew that the dwarfs were not only good at construction but also good at singing and dancing. In particular, their self-made dance was simply interesting and beautiful. It surprised Kant and the others.

But Kant had only seen it once because he had been traveling between the Elf Kingdom and Cumberland recently because of the business at North Market. He spent more time in the carriage than lying in bed.

But under such hard work, the market did not make any progress.

Because the refugees in the mountains did not listen to the official persuasion, it seemed that the elves' lazy nature was deeply rooted in their bones.

Not only that, the key was that the Elf King had said at the beginning that he would fully support the project, but now when Kant proposed to use real power to make the refugee bow down to him. The attitude of the royal palace had always been unclear.

Vague but not giving a final explanation, this really put Kant's mind to work.

On the third trip to the main city of the Elf Kingdom, Kant finally met the Elf King.

"Long time no see, General Kant," the Elf King greeted him.

"I've always wanted to see you about the matter, but I just haven't seen you yet," Kant said.

"I heard from the attendant that you came here for the refugees in the mountains?" the Elf King avoided Kant's eyes and asked.

"Yes, I want to request Your Highness to help me. Let the refugees in the mountains agree to the plan of this market," Kant said straightforwardly.

"Of course I will do what I said. But General Kant, don't tell me you can't think of any other way?" the Elf King said hesitantly.

"Your Highness, you must know more about the character of the elves than I do. For me, a person of other races, I really can't think of any other way," Kant said word by word.

The frustration of not being able to make any progress had been bottled up in his heart, and now his tone was even more straightforward.

"It's just that, since I came to power, I have never made any decision that affected the lives of the people. I wonder how the effect will be this time… ?"

"If Your Highness doesn't try, of course, the result will be unexpected. I'm just worried that Your Highness will let down the Foreign Affairs Minister's hot-bloodedness and good intentions," Kant explained from another angle.

Chapter 653: The Elf Kingdom's Trade

"This…" the Elf King fell into deep thought.

"I will take my leave. I hope that Your Highness can make the right decision in your heart." Kant bowed and took his leave.

When Kant's feet once again stepped on the land of Cumberland, he took a deep breath.

"I can finally stop this pointless rush."

After another two or three days, the Elf Kingdom's Foreign Affairs Minister received the news.

When the Elf King issued a new policy to end the idleness of the refugees living in the mountains, the refugees came to his door and requested to participate in the market planning.

Kant was naturally happy about this.

It was the first time that the Elf King had made such a painful decision to face his own people. It was indeed not easy.

However, it could be seen that the Elf King still cared about his own people. It was just that he did not have enough courage to do something.

After this, perhaps something could be changed.

The rules of the free trade market were all based on Kant's opinion, and they were made in consultation with the members of the Elf Kingdom.

Since it involved the interests of the citizens of both countries, it had a very strict regulation based on fairness. Moreover, a market inspection office was set up in North Market. A trial was held for disputes in the ordinary market.

The trade market was officially launched under the propaganda of the Foreign Affairs Minister.

The daily flow of people exceeded expectations, and the citizens of the Elf Kingdom would also come here to buy goods. However, due to the terrain, the main consumers of the North Market were still the people of Cumberland.

Kant found that the people who were in charge of farm work and animal husbandry always liked to go to the North Market when they were resting. Especially for families with small children, the happiest thing in the world was to go to the lively market together.

But this was probably because people were now filled with a sense of freshness towards the Elf Kingdom's goods.

When the next batch of specially cultivated and processed goods from Cumberland came on the market, it was estimated that more elven citizens would come to pick up the goods.

At least until Cumberland fully matured, there would be no problems with the daily shopping.

Before they knew it, it was already summer, and the fruits in the fields could be harvested. Each family sorted and piled up the fruits in each family's warehouse.

They waited for the official inspection and received salaries according to each family's output.

Kant also followed the person in charge of the inspection to check. The results showed that the fruits in each family were all very good, and the quality was top-notch.

It seemed that everyone did not slack off in exerting their ability and experience and came up with a good result.

After reminding the payers to give out more rewards to everyone, Kant went to the harbor.

In the past few months, he would come to visit once in a while.

Every time he saw it, he would be pleasantly surprised. It was his first time seeing the ingenuity of the dwarf craftsmen's construction, and he was truly impressed by the craftsmanship.

The blueprint was drawn by Kant himself before, and his drawing was not considered good. But the dwarf craftsmen accurately grasped the center of gravity of his design.

Looking at the construction of the harbor day by day, it was as if he saw the projection of a dream in reality.

Now that the harbor was finally completed, Vivian led Kant around to inspect the results.

"Amazing! Such a thing seems to have appeared in my dream! You guys only spent half the time to build such a perfect architecture," Kant could not help but praise excitedly.

"Thank you for your praise. Every architecture made by the dwarfs will be amazing. But the key is to maintain the appearance that it has just been built."

"Of course, we will do our best to protect it from being damaged," Kant promised.

"Well, the Deep Sea Observatory that you asked us to build has also been completed," Vivian introduced and then led Kant down the long escalator. They arrived at the observation platform 30 meters above the sea.

Kant walked to the front of the observation platform and saw a group of fish swimming past him through a layer of glass, he could not help but look surprised. "You are indeed architectural geniuses. This is just a small idea of mine. You actually built it so easily. I think everyone will like it here."

Kant walked around the observation deck three or four times before he was willing to leave.

Back to the shore.

"You have worked hard these days," Kant said to all the dwarf craftsmen. "I hope we will meet again."

The dwarf craftsmen were still chattering, just like when they came.

After slightly waving goodbye to the people, they boarded the ship that came to pick them up.

Vivian walked at the end of the line. She bowed to Kant and said, "Goodbye."

This was the first ship to sail out of the new harbor.

Kant named the harbor, Serron Harbor. He had heard it from other friends. In the west, it meant to wish you peace. Perhaps it was a good idea to use it on the harbor.

Everything in Cumberland was on the right track. After sending off the people from the Dwarf Kingdom, Kant was finally free.

He would drink in the tavern with the Foreign Affairs Minister now and then, but this leisure was quickly broken.

From the letter sent by Drondheim, Commander Bunduk requested him to return to the main city of Drondheim within three days.

Although Kant did not know why he was so anxious, he immediately began to make preparations for the return journey.

After communicating with his subordinates one by one, Kant also bade farewell to the residents of Cumberland. Some of them even went to the market and drank with him.

After spending a long time together, they gradually developed a feeling of dependence on each other.

Kant thought that he might not be suitable to be the manager of this place. As a manager, he should keep a distance from the people under management so that he could make a fair judgment at the critical moment.

However, when Kant thought that he was facing a group of civilians responsible for the production and business and not warriors who had to fight on the battlefield, he could not help but relax and get along with them.

Kant also wrote a letter to the Foreign Affairs Minister and the Elf King, hoping that they could take care of the situation in the North Market while he was away.

After arranging everything, Kant set off on the return journey to Drondheim.

The carriage traveled day and night on the road had finally arrived at the main city of Drondheim.

Outside the city, there were light cavalries who were in charge of welcoming and interacting with each other. Kant looked at the city that had been repaired after the war and was filled with emotion.

After all, this was the main city of the Nahrin Desert, the beginning of everything. After passing through the initial difficult moments, it had finally become the mainstay and the strong backing of the entire faction.

Chapter 654: The Murder Case of the Alkali Soil

After Kant returned to Drondheim, he asked Bunduk to come and see him without any delay.

Until that evening, the two finally met.

Bunduk walked into the hall and greeted Kant, "Lord Kant, welcome back to Drondheim."

"I saw the letter you sent me and immediately returned. What happened? Did something happen recently?" Kant nodded and asked after he gestured for Bunduk to sit down.

Bunduk immediately frowned when he heard Kant's question, and a bitter expression appeared on his rough face.

"The workers we sent to the alkali soil were attacked. Seven or eight workers have died since the first incident," Bunduk said in a heavy tone.

Panic was already rampant in Drondheim after such a large-scale attack happened in the country.

He was also very busy because of this matter.

"Hmm?" Kant's heart was struck. As a new force that was constantly expanding, Drondheim was actually detonated in the country. "Have you found out anything from your investigation? Is it a personal force, or…"

Bunduk replied, "According to the cause of death of the workers discovered, this should be the work of the undead that lurked in the desert at the border."

When Kant heard this, his expression became even more solemn than before.

"Are you sure?"

In Kant's impression, although the undead had high attack power, they did not have much self-awareness.

Now, they suddenly chose to attack Drondheim.

This indeed made people suspicious.

"Yes, based on my experience in fighting against the undead, the injuries on the workers' bodies were indeed caused by the undead's attack pattern. The medical soldiers' test results are also the same as what I thought," Bunduk replied.

In fact, he was already certain that this attack was planned by the undead.

"When was the last attack?" Kant thought for a moment and asked.

"Early this morning," Bunduk said.

"Yes. Then tonight, bring a team of soldiers to the dune near the alkali soil and set up an ambush. We'll see who's behind this," Kant ordered.

"Yes, Sir," Bunduk replied. He had wanted to do this before. However, Kant had yet to return to the main city, so he needed the lord's permission to move the army.

"Go and pick someone from the elite troops. You've seen undead soldiers on the battlefield before, so this operation is quite dangerous," Kant instructed.

Bunduk nodded, then bade farewell and left.

The sky outside the house was slightly gloomy. Dark clouds covered the sun completely.

A thirty-man army, neatly dressed, set out from the main city and walked to the outskirts of the alkali soil.

Bunduk had come here many times before with his men, so the route was already well-established.

When they were almost at their destination, Bunduk ordered the entire army to immediately find cover and lay in ambush.

When the armored soldiers were hiding in the dune, he led a few soldiers dressed as workers and continued to walk forward.

It was summer now, and the bark of the wood and alkali soil trees in the alkali soil had a layer of white salt frost.

Bunduk put on the equipment of the salt pickers and took out a knife to scrape off the layers of salt from the trees and store them in a small bucket.

The others imitated Bunduk's actions, busying themselves in the alkali soil.

Occasionally, they whispered to each other.

Until the moon rose high into the night sky, there was no sign of anything unusual around them.

One of his subordinates walked to Bunduk's side and said, "Commander, have those guys already left? They haven't appeared for so long."

"It's still early. Don't slack off. Hurry up and get to work," Bunduk looked around and said in a low voice.

The soldier walked to another tree without saying a word and continued to pick salt.

"I don't know how long we'll have to squat here in the wilderness. I was called out from the army without having dinner today," a soldier complained to the person beside him.

"You must be used to being lazy. You've never left the main city before. It's much more tiring to fight outside," the soldier who heard this retorted.

"Anyway, I haven't seen the shadow of the undead yet. Collecting salt will use up all my strength."

The two of them seemed to be quite close. They chatted one after another.

"Stop talking nonsense. If you're hungry, go pick a few dates from the jujube tree over there and eat them. I heard that many workers usually eat these. They can temporarily fill their stomachs."

The soldier who spoke first was overjoyed when he heard that. "Thank you, Lord!"

"You should thank me instead," another soldier said helplessly.

However, the other party did not finish listening to him and went to the jujube trees on the west side to pick dates.

After a while, the soldier who was working on the spot turned around and looked at the trees on the west side. He wondered in his heart, "How much does this kid want to pick? Why isn't he back yet?"

With this thought in mind, he often glanced in that direction.

After a while, he saw a familiar figure running out of the jujube forest.

"Oh my God!" a scream startled everyone.

Bunduk ran quickly towards the source of the sound.

"What's wrong?" Bunduk asked.

The soldier pointed to the west and said with a pale face, "That's the undead, right?"

Bunduk also looked in that direction.

He saw groups of undead chasing after a soldier disguised as a worker in the desert.

"Target has appeared! Prepare for battle!" Bunduk commanded.

His voice was heard outside the alkali soil, and the Swadian soldiers hiding behind the dune began to reorganize their equipment.

Their muscles tensed up as they entered the battle status.

Once the undead entered their field of vision, they would immediately attack and kill them.

Bunduk raised his broadsword and mounted his horse.

He rode his horse to the front of the group of undead and attracted their attention.

There was not much undead, and they were about the same size as an ordinary undead warrior. They did not seem to be equipped with any weapons. However, the current time was the most active time of the day for them.

Just the astonishing jumping and biting abilities were enough to cause the human troop class to fall into disarray.

There were still three hours before daybreak. During these three hours, the most important thing was to maintain their physical strength and not let these undead escape easily.

"Get on the horse!" Bunduk stretched out his hand to help and said to the soldier who was running for his life.

The soldier looked at him with fear and trepidation. He grabbed Bunduk's right hand tightly and jumped onto the horse's back.

"Hold on tight!"

The undead behind them was still chasing after them.

Bunduk increased his speed and escaped towards the desert.

The soldiers who had been lying in ambush in the alkali soil had already taken off their workers' clothes, revealing their shining armor. They carried the newly modified shield and silently walked out of the alkali soil, reuniting with their comrades who were hidden behind the dune.

Chapter 655: The Battle under the Moonlight

When they arrived at the ambush location, Bunduk took the soldier behind him off his horse with one hand.

He said to him, "Take your weapons and get ready for battle."

Then, he turned around and chased after the undead in front of him.

Just as the seven or eight undead warriors were about to pounce on them, the hidden army formation came out and surrounded them.

There were also a few Rhodok sergeants who immediately stood behind the high wall of shields. They were holding a few long lances in their hands.

"Second level formation!" Bunduk ordered loudly.

The soldiers who were originally in a square formation had now shrunk the distance between them and the undead warriors.

The two layers of shields surrounded the group of undead warriors tightly.

The narrow space seemed to make the spirits of the undead even more excited. They roared and used their bodies to hit the shields of the Swadian soldiers.

The Swadian soldiers gradually became more and more exhausted as they endured the violent impact.

On the other hand, the spirits of the undead became more and more excited, and the strength of the impact also increased.

"We can't relax! This is our only chance to win," Bunduk encouraged.

Based on his previous experience of defeating the undead warriors in the Elf Kingdom, this method was currently the only feasible one.

All the soldiers were shocked when they heard this, and they braced themselves. They mobilized all the strength in their bodies to block wave after wave of attacks.

When the undead warriors were a little weak, Bunduk commanded the Rhodok sergeants to throw and attack.

The lances brushed past the undead warriors and pierced the ground.

When Bunduk saw that the first wave of attacks had failed, his face couldn't help but darken. Compared to half a year ago, this group of undead warriors was much more cunning and agile.

Including all of Rhodok sergeants, they also felt the difference and couldn't help but become nervous.

They focused their minds in one place, hoping to shoot down one of the enemies.

After a while, when they saw all the undead warriors gathered in one place. Bunduk ordered loudly, "Attack!"

Rhodok sergeants threw out the long lances in their hands in unison. The undead warriors in the formation could not dodge in time and used their muscular hands to protect their heads.

However, they still underestimated the power of Rhodok sergeants. The long lances pierced through their arms and their skulls.

The injured undead let out a pained cry and then fell to the ground.

"Hah!" The Swadian soldiers in charge of defense cheered happily.

Seeing the light of victory, everyone could not help but feel refreshed.

Bunduk also praised happily, "Well done!"

After this wave of attacks, only four undead warriors were left. Looking at the corpses of their companions, they stopped moving and gathered together.

Bunduk saw their movements and cursed in his heart.

The four undead warriors were leaning against each other's backs. They were moving slowly on the battlefield.

"Attack!" Bunduk ordered, a trace of unease appearing in his heart.

Rhodok sergeants obediently threw out the long lances in their hands.

However, this sharp weapon that tore through the air with a whistling sound was just as Bunduk had expected, all of them were caught by the undead warriors.

Seeing that the horizon had already turned white, a faint sense of despair surfaced in Bunduk's heart.

"Maintain your distance, square formation!" Bunduk shouted.

All of the Swadian soldiers immediately spread out and returned to their original square formation.

The undead warriors hugged tightly together and charged towards the southwest corner. Even though their shields were still solid and reliable, however, with the strength of just a few people, they were completely unable to defend themselves.

Everyone could only watch helplessly as the undead warriors broke through the encirclement and fled into the distance.

"Commander, we…" the Swadian Sergeant who was hit by the undead warriors immediately apologized to Bunduk.

"Stop talking. It's normal that you can't stop them. This group of undead warriors is no longer the same as before," Bunduk waved his hand and interrupted them.

The dawn shone on Bunduk's face, but his eyes were still gloomy.

The reinforcements from the main city had arrived at this time. It was said that Kant had sent them.

Bunduk commanded a large group to search near the border to confirm that the undead warriors had indeed escaped from Drondheim.

Some soldiers dug out a few missing workers' bodies in the jujube forest.

Most of them were already incomplete.

Judging from the overall situation, this group of undead soldiers should have wandered from the battlefield to this place. They discovered that the workers who worked here liked to go to the jujube forest to pick fruits to quench their thirst. It was a good place for an ambush, so they had been lying in ambush here, living on human flesh.

Bunduk reported the results of this discussion and the process of the battle to Kant.

The two sat opposite each other in the hall.

They both felt a chill in their hearts.

The silent atmosphere lasted for a while.

Until Kant said, "I didn't expect the undead's consciousness to awaken to such an extent. It's really creepy."

At the moment, the military power Drondheim had could only confront the Undead Kingdom on a direct battlefield.

According to the right time and place, it was not certain who would win.

However, the undead now seemed to have evolved. Before, they only knew how to use knives and axes to slash and so on.

Although it was still in the initial stage of activating thinking, it was enough to make Drondheim raise his guard.

"I wonder how far the undead will expand in the Nahrin Desert," Bunduk said worriedly.

"We can't let them continue to grow," Kant said calmly, but his eyes were incomparably sharp and determined.

"Lord, what do you mean?" Bunduk's heart trembled, and he subconsciously asked.

Kant flicked his sleeves and stood up, looking down at him. "Drondheim can begin to prepare for the final battle with the Undead Kingdom."

A few days passed.

The training ground had become what everyone called an Asura Field.

The case of the alkali soil workers had been concluded, which made the residents of the main city of Drondheim feel at ease. But recently, the news that Drondheim was going to conquer the Undead Kingdom came out from the army.

This news made the hearts of the people rise again, and they were divided into two factions because of different opinions.

One faction thought that they had helped the Elf Kingdom and defeated the Undead Kingdom. This time, they would easily win the battle.

The other side thought that they were trying to obtain freshwater resources in the Elf Kingdom. This time, they were sending troops to the land of the Undead Kingdom. For Drondheim, who was in the process of developing, the constant war would do more harm than good.

The argument reached Kant's ears, but Kant remained indifferent.

In his opinion, this war was inevitable for Drondheim, who wanted to take root in the Nahrin desert.

Rather than waiting for the fully developed Undead Kingdom to come to him, it would be better to take the initiative to attack when they were weak.

Chapter 656: Pep Talk for the Training Ground

Because of the orders from above, the soldiers in the training camp were also suffering.

The daily mission quota had increased by two to three times compared to before.

However, even Kant went to the training ground to patrol every day, accompanying them in the sun and wind.

Everyone didn't dare to complain too much. After all, the Lord was accompanying them, so they couldn't say anything.

One day at noon, Kant arrived at the training ground earlier than usual. Bunduk, who was in charge of training the soldiers, handed over the task of being to the soldier in the lead. He walked forward and saluted, "Lord Kant."

Kant nodded, indicating for him to stand up.

The two of them walked around the training ground.

Kant walked up to the general's platform and asked Bunduk beside him, "How is it? How are the soldiers?"

Bunduk leaned over to his ear and said, "I estimate that at that time of setting off, only two-thirds of the soldiers here will be able to use their strength on the battlefield."

Kant calmly nodded and said, "Are you sure two-thirds is enough?"

"We will definitely take down the enemy and return!!" Bunduk puffed out his chest and said confidently.

"The battlefield this time is dangerous. You must not underestimate the enemy. You must take into account the safety of our soldiers," Kant instructed.

"Yes, sir."

"How long until the training ends?" Kant asked.

"After more than a month of training, the time for the soldiers to complete the mission has gradually shortened. The training mission this morning has almost been completed." Bunduk replied.

"Mm." Kant nodded and pondered for a moment. He then said to Bunduk, "After the soldiers' training ends, I want to say a few words to them. Help me organize and gather them."

Bunduk nodded and replied, "Then I will go and inform the captains of the teams now."

After Bunduk left, Kant stood alone on the main general stage.

When the sun in the sky rose a few inches higher, the selected soldiers who were about to go into battle also lined up neatly in front of him.

"Hello, everyone. I am the Lord of Drondheim, Kant." Kant's voice echoed in the empty field.

"Thank you for your recent training. But I still want to tell you that I hope you know what you are doing for. Our country, Drondheim, is definitely not a lazy country that doesn't want to make progress, slacking off and waiting for others to bully us. The life of an adult is not easy. In order to protect our family and hometown, we must take the burden and pressure on our shoulders. As the Lord of Drondheim, I always feel that if we don't think about doing something right now, we won't be able to reach any part of the world. In a few days, you will set off, and I hope you will fight bravely on the battlefield and then return in triumph! Drondheim will always be behind you!!"

"Drondheim! Drondheim!!" the soldiers shouted in unison. Everyone's blood was boiling.

Thousands of people's voices surged toward Kant like a tide.

Kant nodded and continued, "Alright, I've said what I wanted to say. You guys go and make preparations before the expedition. From now on, every minute and second must be in your hands. Only then can you bring out your best status in the battles."

"Yes!" the soldiers below bowed and left the training ground under the lead of the leader of their respective teams.

Kant walked down the main general stage, and Bunduk followed closely behind.

After the two of them stepped out of the training ground's door, Kant said to Bunduk, "I'll be going to another place soon. The affairs of Drondheim can only be left to you."

"Lord, are you going?" Bunduk asked in surprise.

After all, Kant would not be absent every time he sent troops.

"You have to prepare for the expedition, and I have to make plans for you during this time," Kant said, "But don't worry, I will try my best to rush back before you go on the expedition."

Bunduk nodded and agreed to Kant's request.

The matters were not important. After all, he had been in Cumberland for half a year, and he was already used to handling some government affairs.

But before the great war, where was Kant going?

Watching Kant's back disappear from his sight, Bunduk could not help but wonder in his heart.

A few days passed.

Kant left Drondheim on the second day of the oath ceremony.

Bunduk, on the other hand, was extremely busy. It was still too difficult for him to take care of both the army and the people's livelihood.

It was only on the day of the expedition that his troops bid farewell to the civilians who had come to send them off and rode their camels out of the castle gates. Bunduk finally heaved a sigh of relief in his heart.

There were about three thousand soldiers on the march. They moved forward in the hot desert and formed a long line.

This time, it would take about half a month to reach the undead's territory. The army had prepared sufficient supplies before they left.

The army walked out of the castle gate using the compass for about half an hour.

Bunduk noticed a group of people rushing towards him from the west.

"It's Lord Kant!" his subordinate reported to him after he saw who it was.

"Tell all the troops to stop." Bunduk ordered.

The soldiers who received the order stopped to rest and reorganize. Bunduk stood at the front of the troops and waited for Kant's troops to arrive in front of them.

There were more than twenty elves behind Kant, and four of them were carrying some boxes.

Bunduk walked in front of Kant's camel and saluted first. Then, he pointed at the soldiers behind Kant and asked, "Lord, what are these?"

"These are the medical soldiers sent by the Elf Kingdom to assist us. You should have seen them before on that battlefield." Kant jumped off the camel's back.

He walked up to a few of the elves and asked them to put down the chests.

Bunduk recalled that on the previous battlefield, the elven medical soldiers had indeed played a great role.

"The Elven King has sent over one-third of the country's medical soldiers." Kant opened the chest in front of him as he spoke. "Come here, I want you to take a look at this."

"Lord, you went to the Elf Kingdom this time?" Bunduk asked with his mouth agape.

This matter had truly exceeded his expectations.

Bunduk obediently walked to Kant's side and watched him take out a weapon that looked like a crossbow from the chest.

"This is?"

"This is a rainbow crossbow. I asked the craftsmen of the Dwarf Kingdom to help me make it. It was originally left for the soldiers of Cumberland to use as weapons. The crystals inside are sealed with the spiritual power of different elves, and each of them is extremely powerful."

Bunduk took the rainbow crossbow and shot an elemental arrow into the distance as if he was using an ordinary crossbow.

The arrow that was shot out blew the sand on the ground and pierced through the trees in the distance, leaving a large scorched hole.

Chapter 657: Reinforcements From the Elves

"Wow!!" A burst of excamations erupted from the troop.

Bunduk also stood on the spot in slight shock. He did not expect that the magic spells of the Elf Kingdom and the craftsmanship of the Dlwarf Kingdom would have such an impressive impact.

"Lord, how did you know there would be such powerful weapon?" staring at the rainbow-piercing crossbow in his hand, Bunduk asked.

"This is introduced by an employee of the Dwarf Kingdom. It was their weapon to defend against the enemies. It has been modified using a different model." Kant introduced.

The dwarfs were short in size, and they were solitary in nature. They did not have any practical interactions with other races. Therefore, creating weapons with extraordinary power became their main military defense method.

However, in the past, most of the magic weapons produced by the dwarfs were sealed with the power of nature. This time, the power of the elves was sealed in the rainbow-piercing crossbow, which was a new development.

"This rainbow-piercing crossbow is indeed extraordinary." Bunduk sighed again.

"Well, you can choose a team from Rhdoks barracks to train them to use this weapon. This way, they will be ten times or even a hundred times more deadly on the battlefield." Kant praised.

"Indeed." Bunduk placed the rainbow-piercing crossbow back into the chest and said excitedly to Kant, "Lord Kant has been working hard these past few days to find such powerful backup for us. We are truly grateful."

"After all, there are only a few wars like this. Naturally, we have to be extra careful. However, what I can do is only a small amount of my strength. The main contribution is still the warriors who sacrifice themselves and fight. I hope that you can reduce the casualties as much as possible and return victorious." Kant said seriously.

Bunduk raised his right hand to his chest and nodded solemnly.

After Kant handed over the Elf Kingdom's reinforcements to Bunduk's troop, he and the accompanying guards rode on camels and set off towards Drondheim's castle gate.

Meanwhile, the army heading towards the Undead Kingdom and continued their long journey.

Compared to the battles on the battlefield, the long journey of half a month seemed to be more torturous. However, thanks to the special training from before, there was still no sign of soldiers falling behind until now.

It was currently summer, the temperature difference in the desert between day and night had become even more extreme.

Bunduk and his subordinates began to search for a place to set up camp in the evening every day.

This was because the temperature was relatively mildest during the day.

When the sky turned dark, the hot roasted sand had cooled down, and sometimes there was even a thin layer of frost. In order to adapt to such a temperature difference, everyone would wrap a cotton coat and light a bonfire.

The warriors of Drondheim preferred to talk. They were usually restrained in the military camp, but when it came to the time for battle, the atmosphere was very lively.

Under such circumstances, other than stipulating that they needed to rest on time, Bunduk did not say much else as a commander.

Therefore, during these days, the warriors would organize some small activities to deepen their relationship and communicate with each other.

The people of the Elf Kingdom were relatively quiet. After receiving their portion of supplies, they hadn't seen them in the crowd.

Bunduk had known these people in the previous battles. Although he didn't really know them, he was still familiar with their habits.

It seemed that in the Elf Kingdom's army, the level of the medics was lower than that of the ordinary soldiers. Therefore, this group of medics belonged to the silent category in their own country. However, their work style was still quite reliable.

This was enough for the current Drondheim army.

According to the reply from the leading team, their current location was in the northwest direction of Undead City. It would take them about a week to reach the perimeter of the watchtower.

One morning, Bunduk picked a dozen warriors that he thought highly of from Rhodok soldiers.

Then, he began to study the effects of the rainbow-piercing crossbow.

The body of the rainbow-piercing crossbow was lighter than a normal crossbow. However, it was still not easy for Rhodok soldiers to ride a horse while controlling this weapon.

Bunduk could only supervise and help them complete their shooting training every day.

Under Bunduk's strict requirements, the soldiers' training became more effective.

At least on the night before they arrived at the Undead City, Bunduk had fully raised his confidence and courage to win.

"Commander Bunduk, we have arrived near the detection area of Undead City." a subordinate who had been assisting Bunduk in handling military affairs all year round reported.

"Alright, then let's rest here for the night. We will prepare to attack the Undead City tomorrow." Bunduk ordered.

On the eve of the war, the camp was no longer as noisy as before.

Some of the soldiers' tents were still lit up until late at night.

Early the next morning, Bunduk led his team and set off.

The soldiers responsible for scouting at the frontlines had already seized the watchtower in a corner of the Undead City, ensuring that Bunduk's team of several thousand people would not be discovered by the undead before they reached the city gates.

Drondheim's troops were arranged in a formation below the main city gates of Undead City.

The undead soldiers guarding the city walls began to panic. After all, they were still very unfamiliar with Drondheim's soldiers.

The undead soldiers hurriedly ran down the city walls, wanting to send a message.

However, they were pierced through the skull by Bunduk's arrow and fell to the ground miserably.

The Swadian soldiers began to attack the city gates with wooden logs.

The archers were behind him to protect him, preventing the soldiers on the tower from poking their heads out.

Bunduk couldn't help but narrow his eyes. He felt that something wasn't right.

They chose to attack Undead City in the morning, and so on. Ordinary undead soldiers were no threat to them. However, this was only a sweet appetizer before the high-level undead soldiers arrived.

What followed was the true bitter battle.

A burly undead who was taller than ordinary undead soldiers jumped down from the city wall.

His movements were extremely smooth, as if his limbs were tightly stuck together.

The arrows from the bow and arrow brushed past him.

When his feet touched the ground, his right hand raised a sharp greataxe.

His hand raised the blade and slashed down, immediately shattering the wooden logs that were attacking the city.

Standing near him, the Swadian Sergeant could not help but be shocked. He immediately took out his shield to protect himself.

Bunduk was stunned. He had never seen such an undead warrior before.

Within the warrior's originally pitch-black eye sockets, there was a hint of blood-red light.

"This is?"

Chapter 658: The Battle Outside the City Gate

Bunduk rode on his horse and looked at the undead warrior who was running amok at the front of the team.

He could not help but think of a witchcraft that he had seen when he was traveling back in the day. It was said that it could push the human body's skills to the extreme within a certain period. It was almost invincible. However, this kind of witchcraft was extremely harmful to the human body. After being immersed in it for a long time, the human organs would also rapidly decline in a short period of time. Therefore, only people with strong physiques could withstand the stimulation brought by this witchcraft in its early stages.

Its characteristics were not much different from what this undead warrior was currently displaying.

Bunduk could not help but wonder, "When did this undead clan start using this kind of witchcraft?".

As what they planned, a group of cavalries rushed out from Bunduk's right wing. They formed a straight line and rushed towards the undead warriors who had jumped down from the city gate.

They gathered together with the Swadian soldiers on the ground and surrounded the enemy tightly.

Following that, one after another, giant undead warriors jumped down from the city walls.

Every time they landed, there would be Swadian soldiers swarming over.

"Continue to attack the city gates!!" Bunduk commanded.

He finally saw clearly that these undead warriors were cannon fodder who had come to lead the charge.

Even though their combat strength was outstanding, they were still no match for the dozen or so Swadian soldiers.

Once the effects of the medicine on their bodies wore off, there was nothing to be afraid of.

Instead of wasting energy on them right now, it would be better to directly break through the city gates and investigate the situation.

"Rumble!" a group of soldiers brought out a war chariot loaded with wooden stakes from the rear of the camp and headed straight for the city gates.

Seeing this scene, the large undead warriors who were surrounded by the soldiers began to howl even more impatiently.

"Bang!" With all their might, they rammed into the shield formation of the Swadian Sergeants, knocking two to three of the soldiers who were relatively lighter over two meters away. The cavalries who were hiding behind them found an opportunity to rush forward and used their spears to pierce through the skull of the large undead warriors.

The giant undead warrior's body froze, and his whole body seemed to have become stiff. He waved his arms, which were full of veins, wanting to chop the cavalries off their horses.

Seeing that the giant undead warrior was still standing, the surrounding soldiers followed suit and stabbed the sharp blades into his body before sprinting forward.

Finally, the giant undead warrior fell into a pool of blood. He closed his eyes unwillingly.

The moment he closed his eyes, he recalled how he was brought out of the dungeon with handcuffs on. He was forced to drink a tube of medicinal liquid.

He recalled how a noble undead in luxurious clothes said to him with a smile this morning, "If you don't want to die, go and clean up the people outside the city gate."

"Damn it…"

"Clang!!" the city gate of the Undead City was finally cracked, and the wooden gate fell to the ground.

"Charge!!" Bunduk waved his horsewhip and gave the order.

"Charge!!" The thousands of warriors behind him responded in unison, raising their weapons and following the leading team into the city gate.

Bunduk rode his horse into the city gate of the Undead City. However, he found that the entire city was lifeless. There was no panic, or the escaping residents. There were no undead warriors who had come out to face the enemy.

The buildings on the streets were not much different from those in human cities, but there was no trace of the smoke and fire of a bustling city in the human world.

The air seemed to be covered by a layer of temperature difference.

In this gloomy atmosphere, Bunduk got off his horse and led the soldiers forward slowly.

After walking through the entire street, there was no sign of any undead.

"Commander Bunduk, there seems to be something strange here." a subordinate beside him said suspiciously.

"Take a team and search the city. Where did the undead hide? All of them suddenly disappeared. It's impossible for not a single trace to be left behind." Bunduk instructed.

"Yes! Follow me!" After the subordinate agreed, he picked a row of warriors from the team and followed him.

The group walked towards another street.

Bunduk walked forward for a while, and suddenly thought of something. He looked shocked. "Wait…"

"Huala!" A colorful firework bloomed under the gloomy sky.

It was a means of communication between the Drondheim warriors. The multi-colored firework represented safety, the yellow represented alarm, and the silver represented danger which warned them for retreat.

From the location, it seemed to have come from the center of the city.

Bunduk watched in doubt as the fireworks disappeared into the sky.

He suddenly thought of something: since the start of the battle, he had not received any reply from the scouts on the front line.

This was really strange. Normally, the scouts should have returned to the troops and fought alongside their companions.

Bunduk recalled the faces of the scouts he sent out, but he did not recall anything.

"Florent." Bunduk called out the name of a subordinate. This person was often responsible for the management and distribution of military supplies.

Florent obeyed and saluted, "Yes, Commander."

"Do you remember the names of the scouts sent out this time? I can't remember who they are." Bunduk asked.

Florent thought for a while and replied, "There are nine scouts sent out this time. Aldrich is the captain, and Angelo is the vice-captain."

"Aldrich… Angelo…" Bunduk muttered the names of these two people.

He gradually remembered the identities of these two people. Aldrich was a soldier who joined the army five years ago, while Angelo was a platoon leader in the cavalry battalion four years ago.

Thinking back to their previous battles, these two people's performance had always been very outstanding.

Therefore, after the routine health check a year ago, they were transferred to the scout troop.

In Bunduk's impression, Aldrich was a very calm person. He didn't speak much, but his age was about the same as his. Bunduk pondered for a moment, and then asked, "What about the other few? Who are they?"

Florent looked troubled and said hesitantly, "The others are freshmen who have joined the army in the past one to two years. I don't really remember them. I'm sorry, Commander Bunduk."

"Freshmen?" Bunduk's expression darkened.

In that case, it was possible for the freshmen to lead the way and not obey the army's discipline. However, this made Bunduk a little dissatisfied. These young people really didn't know what was important.

"In the future, try not to let the freshman who are on the battlefield for the first time go to the front line to do reconnaissance." Bunduk warned.

"Ah, okay, yes." Florent wiped the sweat from his forehead and replied carefully.

In fact, these freshmen were quite familiar with him. They were usually quite lively in the army. When they heard that they were going to fight this time, they begged to go to the battlefield no matter what. However, they were obviously not familiar with military operations.

Florent had no choice but to give them a few spots on the training ground. He told them that they had to complete training missions every day and not drag their feet before they could go to the battlefield.

He did not expect these devilish kids to actually survive.

Florent had to put them in the less risky scout camp.

Chapter 659: A Sudden Predicament

Bunduk led the team towards the location where the signal was sent from.

Finally, they stopped in front of the main city's imperial palace.

Bunduk was able to recognize that this was the imperial palace of Undead City, but that was only because it was located in the center of the city. The area it occupied was indeed wide enough, and there were towering guardrails surrounding the estate.

If Bunduk was to comment on the appearance of this imperial palace, he would probably describe it by one word — strange.

The entire palace of the Undead Kingdom was made of stone, giving off a heavy and sturdy feeling. Furthermore, its appearance was very strange. It seemed to only have one entrance, and one could not see where it led to.

"Aldrich and the others sent the signal here?" Bunduk asked.

The soldier who was accompanying him replied, "Based on the estimated distance, they are indeed here."

Bunduk frowned. "Then where are they? In the palace?"

The soldier who had just answered the question stood at the side. His lips were tight, and he was so nervous that he could not speak. He cursed in his heart, 'The scouts this time are really troublesome.'

The doubts in Bunduk's heart grew deeper and deeper. After he calmed down and thought about it, Bunduk was more and more certain that the scouts were not just fresh and playful, but that there were other reasons why they had not appeared.

There were probably people lying in ambush in this palace.

But why didn't they fight against Bunduk's team outside the city gates in the first place. Instead, they chose to stay quietly in this strange-looking palace. Could it be that this palace really had some advantages that allowed them to make such a decision?

Bunduk felt a faint sense of unease in his heart.

After he thought about it for a while, he said to the soldier beside him, "Go and find another team of soldiers who are searching in the city. Tell them to come to this palace to meet us."

The soldier who received the order heaved a sigh of relief in his heart and quickly walked towards the fork in the road. He disappeared from Bunduk's sight.

"Everyone don't act rashly. Rest here." Bunduk ordered.

It was close to noon now, and the sun had risen to its highest point. The soldiers of Drondheim sat down on the ground one after another. All of their expressions were tense as they waited for Commander Bunduk's next order.

After a moment, a scream came from the intersection where the soldiers who had just received the order to search for the person left. "Ahhh!!!"

All the soldiers of Drondheim immediately stood up, took out their weapons or mounted their horses.

"Lizard… lizard people!!" At the intersection, the soldier dragged a warrior covered in blood on his shoulder as he ran towards the large group.

Another soldier beside him seemed to have lost consciousness and allowed him to drag him.

Bunduk immediately ran to the front of the group and stared at it carefully for a while. Only then did he realize that the one who was injured was his subordinate officer.

"Krytor!!" Bunduk called his subordinate's name and wanted to help support his body. However, he was stopped by the soldier beside him.

Behind the subordinate officers and soldier, there was a large group of lizardmen.

They moved in a large and tense group, as if it was about to fill the entire street.

The bodies of those lizardmen were like flowing water, in front of them, the two soldiers were like sand that could be washed away at any time.

All the soldiers of Drondheim were so shocked that they stood rooted to the ground, and they couldn't come back to their senses. The two soldiers had already been swallowed by the tide of the lizardmen.

"Why, why are there lizardmen here?" The soldiers beside them were completely flustered. They had never had the experience of fighting the lizardmen. In this hot weather, it was torture for them, but for the lizardmen, it was like a fish meeting water. All of them were full of energy and could come and go as they pleased.

What else could there be? The lizardmen were obviously the reinforcements that the undead had invited.

They were indeed a race that was transformed from cold-blooded animals.

A while ago, they were allies that fought against the invasion of the undead, but now, they had agreed to help the undead to frame them.

With so many lizardmen deployed, they really didn't know how much the undead had given to those lizardmen.

"Everyone, get ready for battle." Bunduk said calmly.

The warriors of Drondheim had all returned to their senses at this moment, but their expressions were more or less scared.

Fighting with the lizardmen in such a narrow alley was practically smashing their heads against the wall.

The Swadian warriors who stood at the forefront of the team had already set up their formation. They held their blades in their left hand and raised their shields in front of their chests with their right hands.

Every single soldier was staring intently at the enemy in front of them.

The lizardmen who were facing them, on the other hand, had a relaxed look on their faces. The smile on their lips carried a hint of mockery.

Just as the battle between the two sides was about to erupt, a tall man walked out from the lizardmen. When Bunduk saw that face, he felt as though he had seen him somewhere before.

He could not remember exactly where he met the man.

That man walked straight to Bunduk and grinned. "You still want to attack the city. Can't you see that it's an obvious trap for you guys? With a commander like you, Drondheim is probably finished in the Nahrin Desert."

"Despicable scoundrel." Bunduk snorted.

"You guys feel pretty happy after defeating a few big guys at the city gate?" the man mocked. "They were condemned criminals who couldn't even eat three meals. In the end, they were actually beaten to death by you guys. However, as the lowest existence of the undead race, it's reasonable for them to take a few soldiers of Drondheim to be buried along with them."

Bunduk stared into the man's eyes and gritted his teeth, but he didn't say anything.

The man from the lizard race seemed to be satisfied when he saw Bunduk's resentful expression. After pausing for a while, he said again, "Forget it, today is not our lizard race's home ground. I won't say anything more. The host here is in this imperial palace. You guys might want to go in and take a look."

Bunduk pushed the man away and walked to the entrance of the palace of the undead race.

He tried his best to calm down the anger in his heart. After taking a deep breath, he walked into the palace.

The man from the lizard race watched as Bunduk walked in. The corners of his mouth curled up and he laughed softly.

Then, he looked up and saw the warriors of Drondheim who surrounded him with unfriendly eyes. He said arrogantly, "Your lives are now in the hand of your boss. Why? Are you in such a hurry to die?"

After saying that, he pushed a warrior away and walked out on his own.

Under the scorching sun, the two sides sat opposite each other.

The man of the lizard race walked back and forth, thinking about something.

He still hoped that the commander of Drondheim not be too stubborn and admit defeat to the leader of the undead clan.

In this way, they could easily complete the mission and return home to get their share of the reward.

Chapter 660: Breaking Through the Siege of Lost City

Bunduk entered the palace of the undead alone.

The warriors of Drondheim looked at each other in dismay when they saw this scene.

Not long after Bunduk entered the palace, the Swadian warriors also started to move.

After all, letting Bunduk enter alone was practically sending a sheep to the tiger's mouth. Even though Bunduk's combat strength was astonishing. But from the way he fought this time, it was unknown what kind of strange checkpoints the undead had arranged ahead.

Almost a few hundred soldiers followed Bunduk closely.

The lizardmen at the side noticed their movements and wanted to stop them. But they were stopped by the man who came out to negotiate.

"Let them go in. In any case, there's only death ahead." the man said lightly.

The moment they entered the palace of the undead, they felt the temperature of the air around them drop by several degrees.

Although the entire building was sealed with stones, there were wind blowing through the hall from time to time.

The visibility in the room was low, which was more than enough for the undead. However, for the warriors of Drondheim, it was a little difficult for them to move in such dim environment.

They leaned against the wall and carefully walked with the light in their hands. But the road seemed to be longer than anyone could imagine. It was not until the soldiers could not help but start to whisper to each other that they finally saw a room with an open door in front of them.

The military officer at the forefront looked inside. Although they did not know what it was, the view in the room was much clearer.

Commander Bunduk was one step ahead of them and was already standing on the wide-open space in the room.

The military officer took the lead and walked in, stopping beside Bunduk.

There was a burst of exclamations behind him, and the military officer looked back without knowing why. He found that everyone was looking up at the roof of the room. The military officer also looked up. After seeing the scene on the roof, he could not help but gasp.

What was reflected in his eyes wasn't a pitch-black ceiling or gorgeous decorations. Instead, it was a sea of stars in front of him. Compared to what he usually saw with his naked eyes in the wild, it was more than ten or a hundred times clearer.

"Commander, what is this?" the subordinate officer couldn't help but ask.

Bunduk didn't answer. Instead, he stared at the altar in the middle of the room with a solemn expression.

After a while, the figure of a man walked out from behind the altar.

"Is the way of the surrender of Drondheim always been so special? I thought it was only commander Bunduk."the man said.

The soldiers behind Bunduk suddenly quieted down, their eyes locked on the enemy who had suddenly appeared.

"As you can see, we will not surrender." Bunduk said slowly.

The man seemed a little surprised, but his expression only stayed on his face for a moment.

"Then I won't say any more nonsense. If you step into this palace today, you will die." the man said viciously.

"Clang!!"

The mechanism hidden on the stone wall revealed its original form. The secret door was opened, and thousands of undead warriors walked out.

The warriors of Drondheim could clearly see that the undead warriors here were completely different from the undead warriors they had met on the battlefield.

Their skin was covered in a layer of fluorescent light. That layer of fluorescent light seemed to have become their strongest defense. It stuck close to their bodies.

The Swadian warriors immediately walked to the front from the back of the team. They either squatted or stood up straight. They picked up the shields in their hands and lined up in formation.

Bunduk's brows were tightly knitted. From the moment he entered the room, he could sense that his physical strength was inexplicably draining away. After seeing the star formation on the roof, he felt that things were even worse.

However, it was already too late to back down now. Drondheim's army could not accept the curses after surrendering, and Bunduk himself could not accept returning in defeat just like that.

Now that things had come to this predicament, he could only force his way out. They had to crush the undead one by one.

Bunduk watched as the man stepped onto the stone stairs and walked to the top of the altar.

This lit up a glimmer of hope in his heart.

"Warriors, don't give up. Drondheim is waiting for us behind, let us rush out of here together!!" Bunduk raised his arms and shouted.

The warriors behind Bunduk responded in unison, holding their weapons tightly in their hands.

"Kill!" the man on the altar gave the order.

The undead warriors standing on the ground heard this and rushed to the front of the Swadian Sergeant's formation.

They used the swords and axes in their hands to hack at the newly modified shield.

"Bang!!" If there were ordinary people with weaker physiques present, they would probably have their ears ringing from the collision of the swords and shields.

And under the pressure of this wave of impact, the Swadian Sergeant was tired.

The situation seemed to have become troublesome.

As the Swadian Sergeant made a defensive formation, he used the weapons in his hands to attack the weakness of the undead warriors while coordinating with the cavalries.

But this time, it did not seem to pose any threat to the undead warriors.

One of the Swadian warriors' shield was smashed and torn apart. Immediately after, the undead warrior grabbed his neck, wanting to kill him.

However, he was stopped by Bunduk. Bunduk took a spear from the cavalry and stabbed it deeply into the undead warrior's knee, causing him to fall to the ground.

After an undead warrior lost his attacking power for a short while, the Drondheim warriors immediately surrounded him and attacked him together.

The battle continued for a while. Bunduk wiped the sweat off his forehead.

His gaze calmly swept across every place where the soldiers were fighting. No matter what, the number of casualties of the soldiers of Drondheim was far greater than that of the undead. They were in a disadvantageous situation.

Bunduk locked his gaze on the man standing on the high platform again.

That man had been standing there since the beginning of the battle.

A wave of doubt rose in Bunduk's heart. He realized that the highest point of the altar was also where the starlight gathered.

After thinking for a while in his mind, he had a clue about the way to break out of the predicament.

Bunduk once again threw himself into the battle and silently moved closer to the altar.

Behind him were a few officers and subordinates who were close to him, providing cover for him. When the few of them sneaked near the stone stairs leading to the altar. The people around them almost did not notice their approach.

Bunduk led the few soldiers to step onto the altar.

The man who was high up had already noticed their movement.

At this moment, he waved his right hand on the astrolabe in front of him.

Four undead knights covered in flames appeared in front of Bunduk and the others. They blocked their path.

Bunduk gripped the weapon in his hand tightly. He steeled his heart and shouted loudly, "Charge!!"

Chapter 661: The Transition Stage of the Battlefield

A few undead knights charged towards Bunduk and the others.

The halberd in their hands brushed past them.

Fortunately, they were agile, avoiding this wave of attacks.

Bunduk and the others had their backs leaned against each other, keeping a close eye on the undead knights.

"Commander, we'll handle this. You should hurry up," one of the subordinate officers said.

Bunduk carefully observed the position of the undead knights and replied, "Alright."

As soon as he finished speaking, Bunduk sprinted up the stairs. The soldiers beside him firmly locked onto the movements of the undead knights.

They risked their lives to buy time and space for Bunduk to break out of the encirclement.

Before Bunduk ascended the altar, he turned his head to take a look. He discovered that the strengths of both sides were vastly different. The soldiers of Drondheim were barely able to resist the attacks of the undead knights. Wherever the undead warriors swung their long halberds, blood and flesh would fly everywhere if they were not careful.

"Darn it!" Bunduk could only go forward with all his might.

After climbing onto the altar, Bunduk finally had a chance to face the man from before.

He immediately noticed the disc in front of the man.

Combining what he had just observed, Bunduk nodded to himself.

He confirmed his own judgment in his heart, if the undead warriors in the field had become so strong, it must be related to this man.

As long as he got rid of this man, the connection between the power of the astrolabe and the undead warriors in the field would be cut off.

Then, the danger faced by the Drondheim warriors would be greatly reduced.

"As expected, you have been controlling the energy in the bodies of the undead warriors in the field, right?" Bunduk questioned.

The man's figure was originally thin, and it was even more so when compared to Bunduk who was standing in front of him.

"How do you know?" the man asked.

"A formation like yours, which requires divine power, is something that ordinary undead warriors wouldn't be able to withstand. I believe that you possess a special constitution that allows you to withstand the power of the formation and reflect it onto your own kind," Bunduk said what he was thinking in his heart.

The man nodded, acknowledging that Bunduk's words were correct.

"Is there nothing else?" Bunduk slowly raised his right hand that was holding the weapon.

"No, but even if you kill me, you won't be able to change this astrolabe. The effect of this formation will continue, and all of you will die here," the man said with a pale face.

"I don't need you to worry about that," Bunduk said disdainfully.

With a wave of his long saber, the undead man was beheaded. Bunduk didn't look at him anymore and walked to the astrolabe.

In an instant, Bunduk's body seemed to be weighed down by a thousand pounds, and he couldn't stand up straight.

Bunduk's expression was tense, and sweat was dripping from his forehead. He held the astrolabe tightly with both hands to prevent himself from falling down.

He remembered that the undead man had to go through constant training to adapt to being under such pressure. His abnormally thin figure was also explained.

The light that was originally projected on the undead man's body slowly gathered towards Bunduk, and the arrangement of the stars on the astrolabe also changed.

Looking at the Drondheim warriors who were fighting on the battlefield, Bunduk continuously injected confidence into his heart.

In about a moment, the Drondheim warriors on the battlefield were already in despair. The warriors who were traveling with them fell one after another, widening the panic in their hearts.

"Drondheim!" On the battlefield that was filled with smoke, a warrior roared angrily.

The others couldn't help but feel refreshed. They raised the weapons in their hands again and were ready to slash at the enemies in all directions.

Suddenly, the black sky quickly disappeared, and the Sun's light enveloped Drondheim and the others.

The undead warriors let out a series of screams.

The power in their bodies was being withdrawn like flowing water.

The warriors of Drondheim, on the other hand, received a vast amount of energy.

The weapons in their hands carried the sound of a tiger's roar. They tore through the air and hacked at the undead warriors.

The sudden change caught everyone off guard.

The omen of victory spread through the ranks of Drondheim's soldiers.

Although the previous battle had caused the disparity in numbers between Drondheim's soldiers and the undead warriors.

But now their combat strength was no longer the same as before.

When morale was high, the commanders of Drondheim's soldiers led their own soldiers to charge into the battle. The undead warriors could only die one by one under their hands.

This battle finally ended with Drondheim's battle.

Bunduk weakly walked down the altar and refused the support of his subordinate officers. With his last bit of willpower, he supported himself not to fall.

"We won."

Even though they had only started with a few hundred people, there were now less than a hundred people left.

But to be able to wipe out the Undead Army, such an outcome could be considered to have paid off.

The subordinate elven medical soldier was treating the injured soldiers. It had to be said that the elven healing spells were indeed very effective. Even if they were injured, they could recover in a short period of time under their treatment.

After experiencing this intense battle, all the soldiers of Drondheim sat on the ground and rested. No one said anything.

Bunduk remembered that a Lizardmen Army was waiting for them outside the door. He couldn't help but hold his forehead.

An elven medical soldier walked up to him and asked, "Commander, do you need me to treat you?"

Bunduk raised his head and looked at him. He shook his head and said, "I'm fine. Go and check the other soldiers. I just need some rest."

The elven medical soldier nodded, but he still stuffed a small stone into Bunduk's hand.

"What's this?" Bunduk asked.

"This is a healing stone. It can relieve mental pain and pressure."

Bunduk looked at the glowing green medicinal stone in his hand and sighed with emotion at the elves' mastery of magic.

"Commander!" a subordinate officer shouted and quickly walked in front of Bunduk.

"What's wrong?" Bunduk asked.

"We found the scouts in the team," the officer reported.

"Where are they? Take me to see them," Bunduk stood up and said.

The subordinate officer led Bunduk to the front of the stone stairs. A few haggard-looking people were sitting there. Bunduk immediately recognized Aldrich among them.

Aldrich, who was almost thirty years old, looked more like he was in his forties. It seemed that he had suffered a lot after being captured by the undead.

"What happened to you?" Bunduk asked sternly while looking at Aldrich and the other young men around him.

The young soldiers were so scared that they didn't dare to make a sound.

Vice-captain Angelo sighed and reported everything that happened to the investigation team in the past two days.

Chapter 662: Unexpected Medical Soldier

It turned out that when the scouts infiltrated the Watchtower on the first day, Drondheim's invasion of the undead had already been discovered.

The undead had been heavily injured by the armies of other countries on the previous battlefield.

A considerable portion of the warriors was unable to participate in the battle.

Therefore, when Drondheim's army attacked the city gates, the undead warriors did not show up. They were waiting for the lizardmen's rescue.

As for what conditions the undead offered the lizardmen to come to Nahrin Desert willingly to help the undead besiege Drondheim, the scouts who were captured weren't clear.

"Where are the injured undead warriors? Where are they?" Bunduk asked after listening to Angelo's statement.

"We're not sure either. They might be in the palace, or they might have been taken away by the lizardmen's ships," Angelo said helplessly.

They had been imprisoned in the dark cell by the undead soldiers on the first evening of their infiltration. They had no idea where the undead was.

"Did you give them the signal flares?" Bunduk asked.

"After they found the signal flares on us, they plotted to lure you to the vicinity of the palace," Angelo lowered his head and apologized to Bunduk, "we…"

"Forget it." Bunduk glanced at the other scouts and waved his hand. "You can explain this to your superior when we return to Drondheim."

After saying this, Bunduk warned the other soldiers who were resting in the same place, "Everyone, there may be other undead soldiers in the palace. We are still at a disadvantage. We can not let down our guard."

After a small victory, everyone's physical strength had reached its limit.

Originally, they should have started searching the palace, but in order to maintain the last fighting strength of the soldiers, Bunduk still ordered them to rest in the same place.

Bunduk and a few familiar subordinates sat cross-legged on the ground and began to discuss how to defeat the lizardmen.

"How many people do we have now?" Bunduk asked.

One of the subordinate officers raised his right hand and replied, "Including the ones in front of the palace, there are still 1,500 people."

"The lizardmen's team is about the same as ours, but they are indeed good at close combat. Moreover, based on the terrain outside the palace, they have the advantage," another officer continued.

"Should we lure them into the palace?" the officer suggested after thinking for a while.

Bunduk raised his head and looked at him, asking, "What can we do?"

"Well, I think we can pretend that we have surrendered. Let one of the undead soldiers lure the lizardmen in," the officer said cautiously.

"Undead soldiers? How can we have undead soldiers? Even if some of the undead soldiers are still alive. With their consciousness, they won't understand what we are talking about. They won't help us," the officer next to him questioned.

After he finished speaking, everyone else quieted down.

The soldier who gave the suggestion seemed a little embarrassed, but he really didn't know what to do.

Bunduk felt that the current situation was giving him a headache. He rubbed his temples. The glow from the healing stone in his hand became brighter and brighter. Bunduk immediately felt a warm current flowing into his brain.

A thought also appeared in his mind.

"Fritz, help me find an elven medical soldier. I have something to ask him," Bunduk said.

The subordinate officer known as Fritz didn't know what his commander was thinking. He stood up and called for an elven medical soldier and brought him to Bunduk.

Bunduk looked at the elf. After confirming that he was the one from before, he asked, "What's your name?"

"Comori," the elf said carefully.

Bunduk took out the small stone from before and continued to ask, "You gave me this medicinal stone, right? How did you guys make such a medicinal stone?"

Comori carefully explained, "In the Elf Kingdom, there are stone mines that produce stones with good conductivity. We will use magic to refine such a one-time medicinal stone."

Bunduk nodded and continued, "I have seen many warriors of your country and their magic is indeed amazing. However, they each have their own strengths. Your medical soldiers have always been acting as backup. What magic are you good at?"

"Our standard for the selection of medical soldiers is to only allow spirit-type elves to participate in the registration. Everyone's daily operation is also some spirit-type spells," Comori replied.

At this moment, Bunduk's heart was already filled with joy.

He turned around and said to the other subordinate officers, "I've found the 'undead warriors' who understand our words."

When they heard this, some of them looked puzzled, but most of them had already figured out the strategy that Bunduk was planning in his heart.

One of the officers hesitated and said, "Commander, do you want the elves to pretend to be undead warriors?"

Bunduk nodded when he heard this and didn't say anything else.

In his heart, there was something that he needed to confirm urgently.

Bunduk looked at Comori and said, "Then can you show me? What level is your mind spell at?" He was looking forward to it in his heart, according to his past experience, those who could learn a mind-type spell would have a consciousness that was several times stronger than others. The result of this was that most of them could naturally control the consciousness and senses of others.

Although other spellcasters could also learn a little bit of this kind of blindfolded illusion, and thus design some scams.

However, for those who had really tempered their minds since young, it was really nothing.

"Level?" Comori was confused. From the beginning, he didn't understand much. "It's just that we can do some recovery treatment and so on."

"Haven't you guys learned spells like controlling consciousness?" Bunduk asked.

Comori nodded. "We did, but we only use them to help patients relieve pain and promote nerve recovery."

"Then you try it. Cover my consciousness with your consciousness. Let me see what you want me to see," Bunduk said seriously.

"Huh?" Comori was a little surprised. He saw that Bunduk had already closed his eyes. He silently treated Bunduk as an ordinary patient.

When Bunduk opened his eyes and looked at him, the pitch-black palace had already become a sea of colorful flowers.

Everything he heard was the same as the scene.

Knowing that this was an illusion, Bunduk couldn't help but nod his head in approval.

"That's enough."

Chapter 663: The Arrogance of the Lizardmen

It was almost evening now. The Drondheim soldiers who were waiting outside the palace gate anxiously kept looking at the palace gate.

Although only darkness answered them.

"Ga…" The palace gate opened. Under everyone's astonished gaze, an elven medical soldier stepped out of the porch. Behind him was a group of injured Drondheim soldiers.

Seeing this, the soldiers standing in front of the palace gate hurriedly went forward to support the injured soldiers.

Meanwhile, Comori walked through the crowd and arrived in front of the lizardman.

From the moment he walked out of the palace, he had become a fierce-looking undead warrior in the eyes of the lizardman.

"The people of Drondheim have surrendered to us. Please withdraw your troops," Comori gritted his teeth and said.

This was what Bunduk had told him before he set off. The first choice was to let the lizardmen retreat, and the second choice was to lead them into the palace.

"Huh?" The man raised his eyebrows strangely, and then said with a flattering smile, "Soldier, we haven't received the reward your Lord promised us."

"Oh, right." Comori pretended to suddenly remember and said, "The Lord asked me to invite you in."

The lizardman looked at him in puzzlement but didn't say anything. After thinking for a while. He just felt that this undead was really arrogant, and treated them so lightly.

After all, the reward offered by the Undead Kingdom was generous enough. Today, they were able to receive such a generous reward without doing anything. The joy they felt from this gradually reduced their dissatisfaction with the other party.

The lizardman still had a smile on his face as he said, "Then I'll have to trouble you to lead the way."

Comori did not dare to say anything else. He nodded and turned around to walk towards the main gate of the palace. Behind him was a large group of lizardmen.

When he passed by Drondheim's group, the lizardman said mockingly, "With your combat strength, you still want to invade the Kingdom of Lizardmen? You really don't know your place. Pray that your Lord will use Drondheim's colony in exchange for your lives!"

Hearing this, the eyes of the Drondheim's soldiers were burning with anger. They wanted to rush forward and tear the lizardman into pieces on the spot. However, they could only watch as they passed by.

"Did the commander really surrender? What's wrong with the elven medical soldier?"

The officer asked while supporting one of the injured soldiers.

The injured soldier stared at the lizardmen soldiers and watched as they all disappeared at the entrance of the palace. He then picked up the weapons at his waist, "How is that possible? Everyone, follow me and charge in. All the undead soldiers have been annihilated. Lead them inside and wait to join us."

On the other side, the lizardman led his troops and followed Comori into the pitch-black corridor.

"The palace is too dark."

"I don't know how you managed to subdue those Drondheim soldiers, but it looks like you guys fought with them. That so-called commander was indeed a stubborn guy. If it were me, under such circumstances, I would never think of going head-to-head with others."

"How much longer until we arrive?"

Along the way, the lizardman kept talking to Comori, wanting to know more about the situation of this battle. He did not want to return to the kingdom and tell others that he had only stood in front of the palace for an entire afternoon. At the very least, he had to add some special background.

However, Comori did not respond to him much. After all, as a medical soldier who had never been on the battlefield, it was too difficult for him to control his mind and communicate with the enemy leader at the same time. Therefore, he could only nod his head in response and quicken his pace.

From the entrance of the palace to the room where Bunduk and the others were, it was probably the most difficult path that Comori had ever taken.

The lizardman felt that the other party did not seem to be willing to talk to him, and in addition, the team behind him was always noisy. His mood also became restless.

He turned to the lizardmen soldiers and shouted, "What are you arguing about! There's nothing here and you're still chatting so enthusiastically."

The lizardmen soldier behind him carefully said, "Boss, they're just saying, 'I didn't expect that the undead not only cleared us out this time but also invited people from the Elf Kingdom. It seems that the Elf Kingdom was still unwilling to let Drondheim take over a colony.'"

"The Elf Kingdom? Aren't they the backup that Drondheim moved here? I haven't heard that they are with us," the lizardman frowned and asked.

Hearing this, Comori's body stiffened, and then he walked like the wind. He ran toward the gate that was a few meters away.

"What?!" The lizardman soldier widened his eyes in surprise and raised his hand to point at Comori's back. "But we have been following him all the way here."

The lizardman could not react in time. "What did you say? He is obviously an undead…"

At this moment, the group had already arrived in front of the battlefield.

Looking at the corpses of the undead soldiers on the ground, the lizardman could not help but swallow a mouthful of saliva. He could not finish the second half of his sentence.

"Save me!"

Comori ran toward the center of the house. When the lizardman soldier said the first sentence, his heart almost jumped to his throat.

Bunduk led the team and jumped down from the edge of the wall, each holding an open flame.

"You defeated the undead?" the lizardman asked after he reacted.

Bunduk did not comment. He looked past the lizardmen soldiers and looked at the path they had taken when they came.

The lizardman followed his gaze and suddenly thought of something. His expression immediately darkened.

As expected, the sound of marching troops could be heard behind him. All the Drondheim soldiers who had stopped outside the imperial palace rushed in.

"Scoundrel!" the lizardman gritted his teeth and shouted angrily, "Do you think that you can defeat us by using such a small trick to lure us here?"

"Actually, that's not necessarily the case," Bunduk replied. "If you guys leave this place, I'm referring to the Undead Kingdom. We're willing to let you go."

"Hehe," the lizardman said disdainfully, "as people who march and fight, we don't want to be ridiculed for the rest of our lives because of this. Moreover, it's more than enough for us to deal with you guys."

Bunduk's expression became serious. Although what the lizardman said was within his expectations, the current situation was indeed not optimistic.

"Since you have already said so, then I have nothing more to say," Bunduk replied seriously, "I hope you won't regret your choice."

"Today, all the people of Drondheim will die!" The lizardman revealed a fierce expression. Their four limbs were prostrating on the ground, and their lizard tails were raised high. Their appearances were extremely ferocious.

Chapter 664: The Battle That Brought Dawn

The lizardman quickly jumped in front of Bunduk and used his tail to throw a heavy blow.

"Clang!" This fatal blow was blocked by Bunduk's shield. The shield was distorted, but Bunduk did not seem to be affected by it.

Before the Swadian soldiers around Bunduk got close, the lizardman cursed in his heart. He jumped back to his original position.

With the lizardman's attack as the leader, the lizardmen soldiers also launched their own attacks.

The strength of the lizardmen soldiers' grip and their ability to bite were indeed amazing. Not only that, their figures on the battlefield were something that Drondheim's soldiers, who were wearing heavy armor and holding shields, could not compare to.

However, for the soldiers of Drondheim, who had just experienced a bloody battle, they were already familiar with such an unfavorable environment. Even though the injuries they had suffered previously had a burden on their bodies, their minds were incomparably clear at this moment.

The battle style of the lizardmen and the undead had both similarities and differences. The similarity was that they were not good at group warfare. The difference was the reason for this phenomenon. The reason why the undead was not good at group warfare was that the intelligence of ordinary undead soldiers was too low. They did not have the concept of cooperation in their minds. The reason why the lizardmen were not good at group warfare was that their offensive field was to fight alone. Even if the front line failed, they could still rely on their innate physical talent to retreat quickly.

Compared to physically hoping to catch up to them, using the right tactics against their unique combat methods was the key to victory.

Now, the strength of Drondheim's warriors had been twisted into a rope. Because only by defeating the lizardmen could they walk out of here and return to their hometown with full honor.

The formation of Drondheim's warriors had been broken by the swift and fierce attacks of the lizardmen. However, the lizardmen were still unable to charge out from the encirclement of a group of people.

The elven medical soldier stood at the back of the Swadian warriors. When someone was seriously injured, he would rush forward to treat him.

A few military officers acted as leaders in different groups. From time to time, they would roar to change the formation of the formation.

The soldiers who had used the rainbow crossbow for the first time also moved nimbly among the various groups, allowing the explosive weapon in their hands to display its astonishing power.

Without the need for Bunduk to ride on horseback and serve as the commander of the entire team, the warriors of Drondheim had already unleashed their greatest fighting strength at the moment.

Smoke rose and when everything was settled, the warriors of Drondheim held on until the end.

The lizardmen troops were almost annihilated.

The lizardman who had been aggressive earlier also spat out green blood and fell to the ground dejectedly.

"We won!"

The shouts of the Drondheim's warriors broke through the roof of the room.

Bunduk could finally relax and he sat on the ground to rest.

After the war ended, Drondheim's army set up tents in the main city of the undead. After a whole night of rest, they would set off for home.

The soldiers with serious injuries received magic treatment in the medical soldiers' tents.

Those with more mobility were in charge of cleaning up the battlefield in the palace.

They would find the corpses of their comrades from the messy battlefield and bury them properly.

Meanwhile, the corpses of the undead and lizardmen were piled on top of each other and burned.

Because there were too many people, the burning flames were only completely extinguished at night.

"The ones who are in charge of cleaning up the battlefield. Can you put the corpses further away before you start a fire? The smell of corpses has filled up the entire place," a soldier in charge of cooking could not help but complain to the soldiers who had returned from the palace.

The soldier who was being complaint said helplessly, "There are thousands of them. We need to have the strength to transport them to other places."

In Bunduk's camp, Bunduk was writing a letter to send back to Drondheim.

It was very important to let Lord Kant know the outcome of the war as soon as possible.

"Commander Bunduk, Congratulations! You've won another battle for Drondheim," a man under him said joyfully.

Bunduk finally stopped writing and replied, "It was indeed a beautiful battle. However, in the end, it felt like I had nothing to do with it. It can only be said that the warriors the Lord has trained have begun to become stronger and stronger."

"If the Lord knows about it, he will be very happy."

Bunduk stamped his own seal at the end of the letter. He smiled at the words of the man and did not say anything else.

This man was Kant's personal messenger. His name was Gunner. He was also quite familiar with Bunduk.

Bunduk stood up and walked to Gunner, handing the letter to him. He said, "I'll have to trouble you to make this trip."

Gunner smiled and said, "It's only natural. I'll set off tonight. I hope that Commander Bunduk and the warriors can return to Drondheim safely as soon as possible."

After saying that, Gunner bowed and bade farewell to Bunduk, who was one rank higher than him. He walked out of the tent and disappeared into the night.

Bunduk watched his back as he left, calculating in his heart how long it would take for Gunner to return to the main city.

Bunduk returned to his seat, recalling everything that had happened that day.

As he was immersed in his own thoughts, a subordinate officer walked into the tent, squatted down, and saluted, "Commander Bunduk!"

Bunduk returned to his senses, looked at the officer, and asked, "Have you found the Undead Kingdom's treasury?"

"Yes, the spoils of war that we found have all been counted," the officer reported.

"Well, thank you for your hard work." Bunduk put on his furry coat and stood up. "Bring me to see the results of your search."

The officer led Bunduk to the empty space outside the military camp.

There were more than twenty carriages lined up side by side. The warriors of Drondheim sorted the treasures they found into different boxes.

Bunduk walked in front of the carriage and skimmed through them one by one.

"Yeah. It's pretty good," Bunduk praised.

After looking through all the spoils of war, Bunduk turned around and asked the officer, "Did you find anything else in the palace?"

The officer thought for a while and replied, "We found the dungeon where the prisoners are kept in the palace. There are also some injured undead warriors in the rooms that look like infirmary rooms in the palace."

"Yes, we don't need to worry about that. Once the Lord knows about this, he will naturally make arrangements," Bunduk nodded and replied.

It was already late at night, and the soldiers in the barracks finally had a proper dinner.

After the exhausting battle, everyone returned to their tents early in the day to rest.

Chapter 665: The Return Journey After the War

Early the next morning, Bunduk got up.

When they walked outside the tent, the soldiers in the troop were preparing to receive their own breakfast. The aroma of the food was very rich.

When they saw Bunduk, they all bowed and greeted him.

After eating this breakfast, they were about to walk out of the Undead City and trek back through the desert.

Bunduk walked around the military camp and took a look. He met a subordinate officer who was supervising his subordinates as they refilled the camels with water and fed them food.

After greeting his subordinates, the officer jogged over to Bunduk and bowed, "Commander Bunduk, good morning."

Bunduk nodded and looked at him, "What's the matter?"

"The list of the troops stationed in the Undead City has been calculated in detail," the officer replied.

"Yes. Remember to leave more supplies for the soldiers who are staying back. The repair team from the main city will arrive in a few days," Bunduk instructed.

"Alright." After hearing Bunduk's instructions, the officer immediately left the place. He began to arrange for the distribution of supplies.

The Sun gradually rose into the blue sky, and the temperature of the surface began to heat up.

The soldiers of Drondheim had packed their backpacks and were standing in familiar positions.

After the soldiers at the front of the line sounded their orders, the remaining 900 soldiers of the war began their journey home.

On the way back, they should be more relaxed and active than when they came, but the soldiers of Drondheim were very quiet.

After all, the comrades who had stood beside them when they came had already been buried under the yellow soil.

Even though they had won the war, the process that had taken place was indeed a pity.

On the way back, Bunduk and his men encountered the follow-up troops that were rushing to the Undead City, as well as the reinforcements from the Elf Kingdom.

Two weeks later, Bunduk and his men finally stood in front of the city gates of the main city.

When they were within sight of the main city, the news of their triumphant return was spread by the soldiers on top of the city walls.

When Bunduk rode his horse into the city gates that were opened for them, the commoners standing on both sides of the street burst into cheers.

Among these commoners, some of them were relatives of the soldiers in the procession. Seeing their husbands and sons return safely, they were all overjoyed and wept.

After traveling for a while, Bunduk saw the guards of the palace who had rushed over from the other side.

The captain of the guards stopped in front of Bunduk's horse and saluted, "Commander Bunduk, Congratulations on your victory. The Lord sent us a message saying that he wants to meet you."

After Bunduk stopped his horse, he replied, "Alright, after I return to the barracks with the troops, I will go to the palace to meet the Lord."

"Thank you, Commander." The guard stood up and left with the soldiers behind him.

When he reached the front of the palace, Bunduk dismounted and passed the horse to the soldier at the side and stepped into the palace.

Under the lead of Kant's attendant, they walked to the Senate Hall.

"Commander Bunduk, I will take my leave first. The Lord has been waiting for you inside for a long time." After the attendant brought Bunduk to the front of the door, he walked down another small path and left.

In the hall, Kant was sitting on the chair in the main seat, reading the text sent by the ministers. When he saw Bunduk arrive, he stood up to welcome him. "Thank you for your hard work."

After saluting Kant, Bunduk stood up and shook his head at Kant's words. "I only did what I had to do. Moreover, the progress of the warriors is indeed astonishing."

Kant smiled noncommittally and invited Bunduk to sit down.

"Now, the only force in the Nahrin Desert that can threaten Drondheim has been eliminated. Lord, you can rest assured." Bunduk described the situation of this battle in detail once again, and explained the details omitted in the letter one by one, finally, he concluded with joy.

"Haha." Kant clapped happily and replied, "The warriors are indeed brave. After this battle, all of you take a vacation and have a good rest for a few days. The reward distributed by the imperial court will also be sent directly to the families of the warriors within this period."

"Thank you, Lord." Bunduk expressed his gratitude.

"During this battle, if you discover any outstanding subordinates, you can also treat them as important training targets. After all, within the army, you are the only one who has the ability to lead. "With such a large number of people, it is inevitable that there will be times when we can not take care of them." Kant seemed to have thought of something, and he suggested it to Bunduk.

"Yes, Sir." Bunduk agreed to Kant's request.

The two of them didn't talk for long. Kant was concerned about Bunduk's health, so after the conversation ended, he asked the palace attendants to bring him back to his residence in a carriage.

Kant himself stayed in the palace to continue handling the government affairs.

All the warriors who participated in the battle of the Undead Kingdom were given three days off. This was already very rare for them. When they returned home and saw the bountiful rewards that were delivered to their doors, they were even more delighted.

The officers in the army were having a harder time. With a sense of responsibility, they followed the soldiers who had not participated in the battle to the homes of the soldiers who had sacrificed themselves. While apologizing, they handed over the medals and rewards that the imperial court had given to the soldiers who had sacrificed themselves.

Bunduk also followed the officers of various squads to go there a few times.

He spent the rest of his time resting in his own residence.

On the morning of the first day after the end of the holiday, he went to report to the army.

The subordinates of the army prepared a welcoming ceremony for him.

At the last moment, they invited him to speak. Bunduk walked up to the stage and said, "I hope that everyone can properly complete their daily tasks. Imagine yourself being needed to go to the battlefield at any time. Only then can you turn defeat into victory in a time of crisis."

"Alright!" the soldiers below replied in hot blood.

Bunduk continued with some lighter topics. At the end of announcing the end of the welcoming meeting, he scanned the team, he called out, "Bill, Portlem, and Derrick, come to my place after your morning training ends."

With that said, he walked down from the main general stage.

The few officers who were called out didn't know what Bunduk wanted them to do. They looked at each other, but they still didn't understand.

After the morning training ended, the three of them gathered with Bunduk in the military hall beside the training ground.

"How do you feel about this expedition?" Bunduk asked as he sat across from the three of them.

Portlem was the first to answer that he hadn't made sufficient preparations for the battle strategy.

Bill spoke of his observation of the soldiers, while Derrick commented in praise on the soldiers' ability to break through the encirclement.

Bunduk looked at the three of them and nodded in his heart.

Then, he asked softly, "Among you, does anyone have the confidence to stand on a higher level and lead the entire team?"

Chapter 666: Selection of the New Commander

"I…" After reviewing the reactions of the other two people, Portlem slowly raised his hand.

Bunduk turned his gaze to the young man, who was only twenty-three years old.

He thought to himself, this kid's reaction is quite fast. The Lord would probably rather have such a person as a commander.

Looking at his square face, Bunduk suddenly recalled that in the battle with the undead, this young man seemed to be one of the warriors who had helped him break out of the encirclement of the undead knights.

"What about the other two?" Bunduk asked again.

Derrick and Bill frowned. After a while, Derrick replied, "I think I'm more suited with what I'm doing for now."

"Don't you want to be promoted?" Bunduk asked.

Derrick shook his head and introduced himself as someone responsible for managing the supply and demand of logistics and cleaning up the battlefield. His experience on the battlefield couldn't be compared to the other officers.

"What about Bill?" Bunduk seemed to understand as he nodded. Then, he asked the officer sitting in the middle.

Beads of sweat appeared on Bill's forehead. Finally, he exhaled and said, "I don't think I'm suitable either. Officer Portlem has done a lot in this area. I think he's much more suitable for the position you mentioned."

"Alright." After hearing everyone's reply, Bunduk replied thoughtfully, "This time, I want to choose a candidate from among you to be a new commander. However, this matter should be decided by the Lord in the end. Remember to make more preparations. You may name any one of you to take the position of commander at any time."

"Yes!" the three officers replied in unison.

After Kant finished reading the letter from the Undead Kingdom, he carefully wrote a reply to the letter.

The garrison of the Undead City reported to him the number of the remaining undead and wrote a proposal for exile.

However, Kant still ordered in the reply, "Euthanize all the undead soldiers."

He did not want the second Undead Kingdom to appear out of nowhere one day.

The purpose of this expedition was to protect Drondheim's absolute autonomy in the Nahrin Desert. He did not need to worry about the undead invading him from time to time.

Kant would not think of showing mercy to these powerful undead warriors.

As dusk approached, Kant recalled that he had sent someone to summon Bunduk to enter the palace at this time. After instructing his attendants to welcome him, Kant began to drink afternoon tea in the dining hall.

Right now, Drondheim's development was rather smooth, despite having gone through all sorts of ups and downs. But now, it had already begun to take the shape of a strong and prosperous empire.

As a Lord, Kant also relaxed his state of mind, making plans for Drondheim's future.

"Lord, Commander Bunduk has arrived," an attendant entered the door and sent a message.

"Alright." Kant came back to his senses in his imagination. He took off his napkin, wiped his hands with a wet towel, and walked back to the Senate Hall.

"Lord." Bunduk walked in front of him and bowed.

Kant helped him up and asked cheerfully, "During these few days of vacation, I heard that you followed other soldiers to visit the families of the soldiers who died on the battlefield?"

"Yes, although killing and injury are inevitable on the battlefield, as a commander, it is inevitable for me to let the soldiers sacrifice themselves," Bunduk replied.

"If you have such thoughts, your soldiers will definitely follow you without any scruples," Kant commented.

Bunduk shook his head silently.

"Speaking of which, have you found any soldiers for the commander selection?" Kant sat back in his seat, looked at Bunduk, and asked, "I heard that you called out the names of several people when you returned to the military camp today."

Bunduk smiled and said, "The three people that I called out all had outstanding performances in this expedition. However, to become a Commander, you still need some time to train and observe."

Kant nodded. "It's good that you have a clear idea of this matter. After selecting the candidates, report to me. Then, I can give the order to bestow them with official positions."

"In order to become a competent commander candidate in the Lord's mind, we still need to carefully consider it," Bunduk replied.

"We can't drag this out for too long." Kant shook his head, raised three fingers, and said, "We can only have three weeks at most to consider."

"Three weeks?!" Kant's reply slightly surprised Bunduk, and he immediately asked, "Why are you in such a hurry?"

"Cumberland sent a message saying that the lizardmen and jackalans have been harassing their borders recently," Kant explained. "The Elf King is discussing with me when to send troops to attack the lizardmen and jackalans. At that time, we will definitely need to eliminate a large number of troops. In addition to you, we will also need a new commander as the commander."

After hearing Kant's words, Bunduk's brows were tightly furrowed, and he immediately replied, "I didn't expect that Cumberland would be abused so badly right after it was newly established."

"The Elf Kingdom has already completed the battle plan according to the terrain," Kant continued, "The Elf Kingdom's reaction this time was so fast, it really surprised me."

"What about the time? When are we going to the Elf Kingdom?" Bunduk asked anxiously.

"It's about a month away from now. So the military must make arrangements as soon as possible," Kant said earnestly.

Bunduk nodded solemnly. Then, he bade Kant farewell and walked out of the palace.

There were only three weeks left to select a new commander for him.

During these days, Bunduk ran more frequently to the barracks.

The soldiers in the army were all surprised that the commander seemed to be the first person to arrive at the training ground every day.

In order to not appear lazy in front of the commander, the entire army gathered a lot earlier than usual in the morning.

When the soldiers were training, Bunduk sat on the main general stage to supervise the training while observing the three-man team that had been called out previously.

After days of observation, Bunduk silently commented on each of the three men.

Derrick like he usually did, was very careful with his soldiers. However, such a person was still insufficient as a commander.

Bill was a standard competent officer, and he always thought that he had to do everything well. Overall, he was somewhat similar to Pam when he was young, and his leadership ability was also strong.

For Portlem, who was the most proactive in becoming a commander, his thinking was very active. This could be seen from his daily requirements for the soldiers. He was also very confident, exuding a unique leadership temperament in the crowd.

After checking the previous qualifications of these three people, Bunduk finally reported Portlem's name to Kant. He also carefully wrote down his considerations in the document he submitted. After all, this was the new commander.

Chapter 667: Preparations Before the Expedition

The next day, Kant's documents were sent to Bunduk's home.

After seeing the results, Bunduk rushed to the barracks in doubt. Today, he not only had to announce the new commander, but he also had to pass on the upcoming expedition to every soldier.

During the routine gathering, Bunduk stood on the main general stage and said to the soldiers below, "Today will be the first day of the new commander's inauguration — the new commander, Derrick! He will lead the troops to battle the lizardmen and jackalans with me!"

Derrick stood beside the main general stage, even though he had already been informed that he was the new commander chosen by the Lord. But at that moment, his mind was still blank.

When he was invited by Bunduk to give a speech in front of the main general stage, his eyes nearly turned red. "I believe that I will lead everyone well. I hope that everyone will respond to me immediately."

Cheers and praise came from the soldiers below the stage. After the soldiers under the command of Derrick had gathered, they even rushed up to the stage to congratulate Derrick.

Bunduk nodded, but he didn't immediately go over to say anything. Instead, he instructed the officer beside him to count the number of people in the army who had combat strength.

After the people around Derrick dispersed, Bunduk walked forward and extended his hand to him. "Congratulations. From now on, we will be on the same level."

Derrick lowered his head and humbly held his hand, his eyes glistening with tears. He seemed to be so excited that he couldn't speak.

Bunduk carefully asked if he knew the responsibilities of a commander. He immediately handed over some of the responsibilities to Derrick in front of the soldiers in the army.

"The Commander has appointed you as the commander among the three of them. I hope you can fulfill his expectations," Bunduk said in the end.

"I will definitely work hard to obtain recognition," Derrick promised. He was only twenty-one years old, but he had shouldered a responsibility that was more than ten times heavier than his peers.

Bunduk nodded and turned to leave.

After leaving the military camp, Bunduk took the name list given to him by his officers and made a trip to the palace.

After a round of greetings, Bunduk handed the name list to Kant. Every month, the army would calculate the number of soldiers in the army that could be sent to war before handing it in.

However, they had to go out to war this month, so the date of the name list submission was brought forward.

"Mm." Kant took the name list and began to flip through it.

Meanwhile, Bunduk remained seated at the side, quietly looking at him.

"What is it? Is there anything else?" Kant stopped checking and raised his head to look at Bunduk.

Hearing Lord Kant's sudden question, Bunduk said hesitantly, "Lord, the candidate for the new commander this time…"

"Oh, right." Only then did Kant remember the matter that had been approved yesterday. He said to Bunduk, "I'm sorry, I didn't use the person you recommended."

"No, no, no. This isn't a problem," Bunduk hurriedly denied.

Bunduk was only curious about what sort of brilliance Derrick had in Kant's heart since he could become the new commander.

After all, under Bunduk's observation, Derrick was only modest and gentle.

After hearing Bunduk's thoughts, Kant asked, "What kind of country do you think Drondheim is now?"

"Oh?" Bunduk didn't expect to be asked. After thinking for a moment, he answered, "Growth period?"

"That's right," Kant said affirmatively. "Drondheim's current situation is a country in the middle of development that has already stepped into a new level. With such a background, people with a gentle personality like Derrick would be the best at calming down the dissatisfaction and resentment in the hearts of everyone. It was the same in the army. In this period, due to people's greed and desires, they would become very sensitive to the things around them. As for a commander like Derrick, they would always know how to be content."

After hearing this, Bunduk said hesitantly, "However, when I asked him back then, he didn't seem to have the confidence to take the position of a commander."

Kant nodded first, then he said, "I've read the information you gave me. He has only been in the army for two years. But he has been promoted to the position of a high-ranking officer. This proves that his ability to learn is indeed very strong. Lack of confidence is already a part of his personality. He may not be confident in himself in the future. He will often doubt himself or something, but I think such a person is suitable to be a leader. Only by doubting himself will he listen to the opinions of others when making decisions. He will not force his team into a dead end."

Bunduk was finally convinced by Kant's words. Before he could praise Kant's thoughtfulness.

He heard Kant joked, "Actually, I can also guess that you would choose Portlem. He's too similar to the past you. His temperament, strengths, and so on are simply carved from the same mold. Bill is the same, and he's also very similar to Pam. I don't want to see your growth history again. Speaking of which, choosing Derrick is also considered a last resort."

Bunduk froze on the spot. He wanted to say something, but he was powerless to refute it.

After confirming the choice of a new commander, the entire army officially entered the pre-war preparations.

Previously, a portion of the soldiers had returned from the Elf Kingdom's battlefield. Many new soldiers came to them to inquire about the Elf Kingdom's details and so on.

Bunduk joined the training team in the previous battle. He had suffered quite a number of injuries to his tendons and bones. It was going to be another great battle soon. Before that, he had to be fully prepared.

Although Bunduk had already left the regular training of the army for a long time, he was still able to obtain first place in the training missions.

This caused the other soldiers to be endlessly surprised.

"If you guys continue to go easy on me like this, I won't be happy," Bunduk said in a joking manner.

Seeing the fierce glint in Bunduk's eyes, all of the young soldiers couldn't help but break out in cold sweat. This wasn't a joke, it was a warning to them to increase their training speed.

All of the soldiers started to train hard.

"Compared to the real battlefield, what you are experiencing right now is still far from enough," Bunduk shouted from the main general stage.

Finally, on the day of the expedition, Kant led the imperial guards to send them out of the city gates.

"Lord, since the expedition is so frequent, you don't have to personally send us off every time, right?" Bunduk suggested.

"No, the more times the troops are going out to battle, the more I should rush over," Kant replied with a smile.

Bunduk also smiled, squatting down and saluting before stepping onto the camel's back.

Chapter 668: The Journey to Draw the Curtain

"Lord, then we shall set off." As Derrick rode past Kant on his camel, he bowed his head and saluted him.

"Alright, I hope that you can defeat the enemy and return to Drondheim safely," Kant nodded as he said this and waved at the soldiers.

There were about ten thousand soldiers in this expedition. They walked out of the city gates of Drondheim's main city in an imposing manner.

Kant stopped there as he watched the departing soldiers walk further and further away from the city gates.

It was the familiar desert again when the sky turned dark.

The marching warriors had no choice but to stop and set up camp. Derrick rejected the soldiers' request to hold a bonfire to celebrate for him.

After dinner, he immediately walked to the tent in the center of the military camp.

This was the information reporting center during the march. Derrick walked in and when he saw Bunduk sitting in his seat, he immediately bowed and said, "Commander Bunduk…"

Bunduk smiled and waved his hand. "You're also a commander now. Forget about the bow. If the soldiers see that, it won't be good."

"Thank you, Commander Bunduk," Derrick said cautiously.

Then, he sat on the newly added commander's seat beside Bunduk.

Bunduk took out two letters from a stack of documents, he handed them to Derrick and said, "This is a letter the Elf King wrote to Drondheim in the past week. One was given to me by Lord Kant, and the other was sent directly to me by a messenger."

Derrick nodded, took the envelope with both hands, opened it, and began reading.

Bunduk got up and took a carpet-like map from another table. It was laid on the table in front of him and Derrick.

"According to the contents of the letter, the Elf Kingdom's preparations this time are indeed very thorough. When we arrive with our troops and coordinate with their strategy, it seems like we can completely defeat our opponent," he commented after he read the letter.

"Yeah, I think so too," Bunduk replied affirmatively. Then, he asked Derrick to look at the marked map.

Derrick pointed to a green forest and said, "According to the Elf King, the lizardmen and jackalans encamped at the border should be here. They are indeed very close to Cumberland."

"There's a canyon near the location of this patch of green forest, which is suitable for an ambush. The battlefield this time is probably in that area," Bunduk continued.

"Yes, it would be better if the war this time won't affect Cumberland's territory," said Derrick as he stared at Cumberland's location on the map.

"The Elf King said that it's been raining continuously in the Elf Kingdom for the past few days. I wonder if we'll encounter it when the time comes." Bunduk carefully rolled up the map, put it aside, and sat back in his original position.

"Our warriors shouldn't be worried. Everyone has already simulated the situation countless times during their usual training," Derrick answered. "However, we are indeed not familiar with the terrain there. This might become a disadvantage."

"What the lizardmen and jackalans are doing at the border of Cumberland is probably just a small matter in their eyes. However, the attitude of the Elf Kingdom this time will probably surprise them," Bunduk recounted. "Our army will not stay in the Elf Kingdom. We will probably go to Cumberland after meeting the Elf Queen."

"Okay," Derrick nodded as he said thoughtfully.

The two continued to discuss their strategy before the battle, and it was already late into the night.

The footsteps of the soldiers outside the tent gradually died down. After bidding farewell to Bunduk, Derrick returned to his tent to rest.

After marching in the desert for a few more days, the only thing he felt fortunate about was that they had wiped out the Undead Kingdom. Therefore, the marching troops could pass through the territory of the Undead Kingdom, greatly reducing the time spent on the road.

When Bunduk and Derrick led their troops into the gates of the Undead Kingdom, a wave of proud cheers came from behind them. All the soldiers of Drondheim were proud of their troops.

Bunduk sat on the back of a camel, and his gaze circled the surroundings. He was also filled with emotions.

The Undead City was mostly deserted. After all, the number of garrisons sent from the main city of Drondheim was still relatively few compared to this vast city.

The soldiers in charge of the renovation were all working very hard to make the Undead City a place that was suitable for living, or rather, a city that was suitable for development.

Bunduk jumped off his camel and chatted with the leader of the army who walked out of the city gate to welcome him.

After learning that the cemetery of the soldiers of Drondheim who had died on the battlefield had been completed, he immediately rushed over with his other comrades who wanted to pay their respects.

A group of people walked into the newly built cemetery. Everyone's faces revealed a sorrowful expression.

Everyone walked in silence in front of the graves of the soldiers they knew.

Bunduk stood outside the gate of the cemetery. He did not go in to visit. When he saw some of the soldiers begin to wail in front of their comrades' graves, he could not help but feel a little sad in his heart.

As a commander, he couldn't empathize with the newly enlisted soldiers.

He walked through the battlefield, where blood splattered everywhere, and watched countless comrades he was familiar with fall.

Gradually, his heart became firm. He became the leading flag on the battlefield, supporting all the warriors of Drondheim to advance bravely. In his eyes, having such resolute willpower was what every commander needed to shoulder.

"Commander Bunduk, aren't you going in?" Commander Derrick walked over and asked in a soft voice.

His gaze also turned towards the garden with Bunduk.

"There's no need for me," Bunduk said, feigning nonchalance.

Derrick nodded in response. He could roughly understand what Bunduk was thinking. He didn't say anything else.

"What about you?" Bunduk asked, "Aren't you going to see your comrades?"

"Yes, I've already seen them. On the day the war ended," Derrick said softly. His tone was filled with sorrow.

Bunduk turned to look at Derrick and sighed in his heart.

The two of them quietly waited for the soldiers to walk out of the cemetery. From time to time, they patted a warrior on the shoulder as a form of consolation.

That night, the soldiers of Drondheim, who had marched to the Elf Kingdom, stayed overnight in the Undead City.

They were warmly received by the local army.

The logistics staff of the army prepared many delicacies that had been treasured for a long time.

"If we finished up all the food here, the Lord should reimburse you," Bunduk drank some of the wine prepared for the banquet and joked.

The leader of the Army who sat beside him shook his head with a smile and made a toast to Bunduk.

It was not until late at night that everyone dispersed. They returned to their respective camps to rest and reorganize.

To prepare for tomorrow's departure.

Chapter 669: A Kingdom to Visit Again

The 10,000-strong Drondheim army finally arrived in the Elf Kingdom after half a month.

The Elf King sent soldiers from the main city of the Elf Kingdom to welcome them.

After arranging a place for the soldiers to rest, Bunduk and Derrick visited the royal palace of the Elf Kingdom.

The Elf King had been waiting for them in the main hall of the royal palace for a long time. As he had met Bunduk a few times before, they could be considered familiar with each other. When the Elf King saw the two figures, he walked forward and greeted Bunduke, "Commander Bunduk, long time no see."

Bunduk and Derrick bowed to the Elf King and greeted, "Your Highness."

"This is?" The Elf King looked at Derrick in puzzlement and asked Bunduk.

"This is Commander Derrick. He has just been appointed. He is in charge of commanding the military forces of Drondheim with me," Bunduk explained in detail.

"I see." The Elf King nodded in understanding and extended his hand to greet Derrick. "Hello, Commander Derrick."

"Nice to meet you." Derrick held the hand of the Elf King respectfully.

The Elf King smiled and said, "It seems that Drondheim's soldiers are indeed filled with talents. In such a short time, they were able to select a soldier who is suitable to be a commander."

"No, no." Bunduk politely shook his head and denied it.

The Elf King suddenly thought of something and happily said, "During the battle in the Undead Kingdom, I heard from the Elf Kingdom's medical soldiers that Drondheim won a great victory. Congratulations to all of you."

"Yes. After the Lord returned to the country, he targeted the danger brought by the undead. After some discussion, he ordered us to attack and conquer the Undead Kingdom. The undead's firepower was truly fierce. We were unable to hold our ground against half of their combat strength. We could only say that in the end, we won by luck with the combined efforts of the warriors," Bunduk replied. "Among them, your country's reinforcements also made a huge contribution to resolving the danger for us. I'm truly grateful."

"The reputation of the soldiers of Drondheim being brave and good at fighting has spread throughout the countries on the coast. I believe that when the lizardmen and jackalans see you appear in front of the front lines, they will also be afraid," the Elf King continued.

"Since your kingdom's plan this time is to launch a surprise attack, we will definitely conceal ourselves before the battle. We will try to catch them off guard and use the least casualties in exchange for victory in the war," said Derrick from the side.

The Elf King nodded in approval.

The specifics of the strategy would be handed over from the Elf Kingdom's army to the two commanders of Drondheim.

Bunduk and Derrick didn't stay in the palace for long. After an introduction to the military forces they had prepared, they politely rejected the Elf King's request for a banquet and returned to their prepared accommodations.

The next day, they would head to Cumberland from the Elf Kingdom's official road.

The warriors put their weapons and armor into the cargo boxes.

They put on the clothes sent by the elves and prepared to travel in plain clothes.

At ten in the morning, the first batch of people set off. Due to the existence of the free trade market, the daily flow of people between the main elven city and Cumberland was also very large.

Therefore, even the pedestrians on the road didn't notice that this was a group of soldiers from Drondheim.

Bunduk was the leader of the first batch of soldiers to set off, while Derrick led the last batch of soldiers to hold the line. Finally, they arrived in Cumberland three days later.

The residents of Cumberland didn't seem to know of their arrival.

However, someone came forward to ask them the purpose of their trip. When they learned that it was the reinforcements sent by Drondheim, they surrounded them and cheered.

They had also suffered a lot recently because of the harassment of the lizardmen and jackalans.

Now, when they saw the army sent by their motherland, most of them were so moved that they couldn't speak.

The soldiers were arranged to enter the campsite of the Cumberland garrison, and when the leader of the elven army arrived, they would be sent to the campsite. Bunduk, Derrick, and the elven leader, Gable, began to discuss around the round table.

Gable told the two of them that the elven forces had roughly pinpointed the exact location of the lizardmen and jackalans in the mountains. They also sent spies to track them and update their positions every day.

Before Gable rushed to Cumberland, he had received the latest letter regarding the enemy's precise location.

After conveying the details, Gable took out the coordinates flag and pointed out the location of the lizardmen and jackalans' encampment on the map.

Derrick looked at the location that Gable pointed out and thought for a moment. Then, he said, "If this information is accurate, then according to the strategic plan that we originally formulated, we can smoothly start the war."

Gable nodded, he pointed to a high ground not far from the coordinate flag and said, "When the time comes, Drondheim's army can first ambush the western mountain. After we launch an attack, we will rush down the mountain slope and meet up, sealing off the lizardmen's retreat path."

Bunduk said, "The elves have cooperated with Drondheim's army before. I hope that there will be a good result this time."

Gable replied, "This is a battle meticulously planned by the elves' forces. In addition, the combat strength of Drondheim's soldiers is extraordinary. I'm confident that I can finish off the lizardmen and jackalans at the border."

Hearing Gable's promise, Bunduk and Derrick nodded with certainty.

Although they didn't participate in the strategic deployment, from Bunduk's point of view, the elven forces' plan this time was indeed much better than before. At least, it was satisfactory so far.

On the day of the expedition, before the sky had even brightened, the Drondheim soldiers set off for the ambush location.

In order to avoid being discovered by the lizardmen and jackalan spies, everyone chose a more remote path and walked to the mountain in the west, they hid in a place where they could roughly see the camp of the lizardmen and jackalan soldiers.

Bunduk crouched on the grass and used his brown binoculars to observe the movements of the lizardmen and jackalans.

All the soldiers hid according to the order of the formation.

The Swadian warriors were about halfway up the mountain. When the cannon fire of the war sounded, they would lead the cavalries behind them down the slope.

The Sun gradually rose, and the warriors followed the shadows of the trees to move their positions.

"They're here," Bunduk called out in a low voice.

In his field of vision, the elven army was continuously approaching the lizardmen and jackalans' tents.

The soldiers who were patrolling around the camp didn't sense the elven soldiers approaching. They were still chatting in groups.

Everyone on the hillside tensed up, ready to start sprinting.

Chapter 670: The Decisive Battle

Bunduk raised his hand, signaling for everyone to keep quiet.

The elven army arrived in front of the lizardmen and jackalans' tents.

Gable stood at the front of the army, commanding the fire elves to throw fireballs into the camp. All the tents were set on fire.

"This is bad!" Bunduk heard a call from Derrick.

He saw that the soldiers who had been wandering around the tents had all disappeared. And the figures in the woods beside the military camp were stirring.

Gable couldn't help but be stunned when he saw this situation.

Could it be that he had fallen into the trap of the lizardmen and jackalans?

He looked at the lizardmen and jackalan soldiers who were constantly sprinting out of the woods. While Gable was filled with regret, he looked up at the mountain where the Drondheim soldiers were hiding.

The Drondheim soldiers must have seen the situation on their side and did not rush down the hill as they had predicted.

This was the first time Gable had met the Drondheim soldiers. He had only heard that they had won many battles. Now that the elven team was trapped, he did not know if they would give up on support.

The lizardmen and jackalans surrounded the elven warriors, forming a dark mass.

The elven warriors just stood there, waiting for Gable to give the order.

With his heart wavering, Gable finally made up his mind. Since it had come to this, he could only trust the leadership of the Drondheim soldiers. Perhaps now was the best time for the elves and the Drondheim troops to cooperate.

A burly jackalan walked out of the troop and said to Gable who was riding on a horse, "You didn't expect that we would see through your sneak attack, did you?"

"Humph, today our elven soldiers are not afraid of a face-to-face battle with you jackalans and the lizardmen," Gable said coldly, then, he raised his arm and shouted, "all elven soldiers, even if we spill our blood here today, we will drive this group out of the border!"

"Hahahaha!" The jackalan leader laughed, "Are you kidding me?! We jackalans and the lizardmen are united, but we can still be defeated by your army of thousands of mages?! What a fantasy!"

"Defeated by us?" Gable looked at the mountain in the distance and grinned. "We aren't the only ones here."

In his field of vision, he saw the Swadian sergeants, who were charging at the front, gradually approaching.

Derrick, who was carefully observing the movements on the mountain, noticed Gable's hand gesture to launch an attack. After passing this information to Bunduk, he said, "Let's go." Bunduk immediately ordered the army to attack.

The jackalan leader was stunned by Gable's words. He didn't know when the soldiers of Drondheim had arrived in the Elf Kingdom.

When he heard the shaking of the ground behind him, the Swadian warriors had already rushed in front of them from the mountain path. They raised their shields and made a hole in the encirclement of the jackalans and lizardmen.

Many of the lizardmen and jackalans were knocked to the ground, and after the soldiers stabbed their chests. They were completely lifeless.

"Retreat, retreat!" the leader of the jackalans ordered his soldiers loudly.

However, the forest that was good at hiding their escape had already been burned into a sea of fire by Gable's fire elves when the Swadian soldiers rushed down the hill.

Races like the jackalans and the lizardmen, which had evolved from nocturnal animals, were completely unable to withstand the visual impact and high temperature brought by the flames.

The jackalans and lizardman soldiers panicked. Once the Drondheim soldiers arrived, they fell from a stable advantage to an overwhelming disadvantage. They could only think about how to escape.

With the elven spells behind them, the Swadian soldiers continued to flood in.

The leader of the jackalan led the soldiers to escape to the empty space behind the military camp, but he was forced back to his original position by the Rhodok soldiers led by Bunduk and Derrick.

The eyes of the jackalan soldiers flashed with a green light. Since they couldn't escape, they could only fight to the death.

The jackalans pounced in front of the Rhodok soldiers and flashed their sharp fangs.

However, they were kicked to the ground by the Rhodok soldiers, who had amazing physical strength.

Finally, their necks were cut off by a horizontal knife.

After the elves arrived at Drondheim's army, they continued to launch magic attacks behind the formation of the Swadian soldiers.

The lizardmen and jackalans were like ants on a hot pan, restless in the encirclement. Even if they knocked down a warrior from Drondheim or a mage from the elven race. They would immediately be heavily injured by the continuous attacks.

In less than two hours, all the lizardmen and jackalans had lost their ability to fight, either dead or injured.

Gable sent people to capture the surviving enemies and tied them up with ropes back to the Elf Kingdom.

"Thank you for lending a helping hand in times of trouble," Gable said gratefully to Bunduk and Derrick.

Bunduk shook his head with a smile and said, "Helping you was one of the goals of our trip. We should be most grateful that Derrick understood the signal you sent, allowing us to cooperate with you in launching a counterattack."

Upon hearing Bunduk's words, Derrick answered in embarrassment, "I only noticed this habit of Gable's when he was training his troops before the battle. I was thinking that he might be hinting for us to send our troops."

Derrick's explanation made Bunduk and Gable look at him in surprise.

Bunduk had originally thought that the reason why Derrick was able to discover Gable's secret signal was that the two of them had discussed it before the battle. He didn't expect that he would be the one to make a subjective inference after observing. This level of care and determination was indeed beyond Bunduk's expectations.

The degree of surprise in Gable's heart was about the same as that of Bunduk. However, he didn't show anything. He just shook hands with Derrick to express his gratitude.

After dealing with the battlefield, the soldiers of Drondheim returned to Cumberland with the Elf Kingdom's forces.

The news of victory had spread throughout the colony. People from all families ran to the city gate to welcome the soldiers who had returned victorious. They also held a celebration banquet and prepared many sumptuous dishes. The elven warriors were also invited to join them.

"I'm really not used to eating human food," an elven soldier said to the soldier beside him during the banquet.

"I think it's quite delicious." the elf soldier beside him said nonchalantly while picking up a lot of food with his chopsticks and put it in his bowl.

"Huh?" The elf soldier who had just started the banquet had drunk quite a lot of wine. At this moment, his face was slightly tipsy. He frowned and said, "What did you say? Let me see how your tongue grows. Has It become a human tongue?"

"Go away! Go away! Don't go crazy with me. Why drink so much if you don't like to eat?" The elf soldier who was annoyed by the "harassment" retorted.

At the end of the banquet, many of the soldiers had already collapsed on the open-air dining table and fell asleep.

Chapter 671: Decision-Making After the Battle

After spending a night in Cumberland, the Elf Kingdom's troops would set off for the Elf Kingdom's main city.

Bunduk and Derrick were also in the formation. As the commanders of the main reinforcements, they also needed to report the results of the battle to the Elf King.

Furthermore, they also needed to know how to deal with the lizardmen and jackalans.

Three days later, the elven army arrived at the main city of the Elf Kingdom.

Before Gable could return to the camp, he was summoned by the Elf King. He brought Bunduk and Derrick into the palace.

"It's been hard on all of you," the Elf King consoled after receiving the greetings of the three.

"The plan to exterminate the enemy went smoothly. I didn't feel tired," Derrick replied peacefully.

Upon hearing this, the Elf King smiled and said, "This great victory is a first-class good thing for the Elf Kingdom and Drondheim. I have already sent a message to Lord Kant regarding the outcome of this battle."

"The Elf Kingdom and Drondheim are very far apart. I wonder when we will receive a reply from the Lord?" Bunduk asked.

The Elf King thought for a moment, he replied, "We will receive a reply from Drondheim in about three days. I mentioned in my letter about the expedition to the lizardmen and jackalans' territory. I wonder what Lord Kant will reply. Until then, I can only trouble you two to stay in the Elf Kingdom for the time being."

Bunduk thought for a moment and replied, "Yes, then we will wait for the Lord's reply in the main city. I hope that Your Highness can summon us when you receive the reply."

"Of course."

Bunduk and the other two stepped out of the royal palace's door.

"Commander Bunduk and Commander Derrick, what are your plans next?" Gable asked.

Bunduk replied, "We should find an inn nearby to stay. In short, there will be a letter from Drondheim in three days."

Derrick nodded in agreement with Bunduk's idea.

Gable said apologetically, "Since the two commanders have your own plans, I don't need to worry about you. Besides, my manor near the military camp is really shabby. I'm afraid it's not good enough to entertain the two of you."

"Thank you for your kindness. Staying near the royal palace will allow us to know the news ahead of time. This is what we hope for the most at the moment," Derrick said.

"Okay." Gable fell into deep thought before continuing, "I wonder what kind of orders Lord Kant will send. In that case, I'll take my leave first. See you in three days."

"See you in three days."

Bunduk and Derrick booked a guest room at the inn closest to the palace.

They went out for a walk every day, and in the evening, they would rest early after chatting. It could be said that they were very free.

On the morning of the third day, Derrick sat at the dining table in the guest room and made tea. Today, neither of them planned to go out. They sat in their rooms wholeheartedly, waiting for news from the palace.

Bunduk drank a whole cup of tea and told Derrick, "I didn't expect that I wouldn't be able to adapt without the army's mission."

"Commander Bunduk, you haven't had much rest in the past year, have you? You've been fighting wars or handling government affairs for the Lord in the main city," Derrick said with a smile.

"But it looks like you never really thought of going out to play. There's a lot of pressure of becoming a new commander, right?" Bunduk also joked back.

"I'm different from Commander Bunduk. When I was an officer, I would take a break from my busy schedule." Derrick gave Bunduk a sly look, then he took a sip of his tea with a sense of ease.

Bunduk chuckled and didn't say anything else.

Over the past three days, the two of them had chatted quite a bit about their experiences. They gradually became more familiar with each other, no longer as distant and isolated as before.

Not long after the two of them quieted down, the sound of an inquiry came from outside the door. "Excuse me, is this the room of Commander Bunduk and Commander Derrick?"

Bunduk hurriedly stood up and walk to the door, and he saw an elf dressed in a guard's uniform standing outside the door.

After the elf guard bowed, he said to the two of them, "His Highness the Elf King asked me to summon the two of you into the palace. He said that Drondheim has sent a reply."

Derrick and Bunduk nodded together and said, "Then, I'll have to trouble you to lead the way."

When they reached the main hall of the palace, Bunduk and the others met Gable, who was dressed in military uniform, at the door. It turned out that the Elf King had summoned the three of them to enter the palace together.

After greeting each other, they entered the main hall one after another.

"Your Highness, I heard that you received a reply from the Lord," Bunduk went forward and asked the Elf King.

"Yes." The Elf King took out a letter from his pocket and said, "Take a look with Commander Derrick. There are some instructions for you to read."

After quickly reading it, Bunduk handed the letter to Derrick and turned around to ask, "Then, are we leaving for Cumberland immediately?"

The letter said that Drondheim's troops would head to the lizardmen and jackalan's territory together with the Elf Kingdom's troops.

"Yes, but I want Gable to lead the march with you," said the Elf King.

"The march has been prepared according to Your Highness's instructions," reported Gable.

"Then it means that the preparations have been made. I wonder how the lizardmen and jackalan troops that were left behind to defend the city will react. However, the main purpose of this trip is to search for the results of the battle. I hope that you can return safely," instructed the Elf King.

The three replied calmly, "Yes!"

After leaving the palace, Bunduk and Derrick boarded the carriage prepared for them and headed to Cumberland with the assembled elven soldiers.

After receiving the message from the main city, the Cumberland soldiers also began to prepare seriously.

Training was necessary.

The citizens of Cumberland provided them with a wide field as a training ground. The leading officer would lead his team to meet the daily training targets.

Kant said in the letter, "the supply this time was provided by Cumberland. To be able to provide 10,000 soldiers with rations on the way to the lizardmen and jackalan's territory in a short period of time according to the requirements, it could be seen that Cumberland's development in just half a year was astonishing enough."

Kant also learned about this fact from the financial account books that were uploaded every month.

By the time Bunduk and the others arrived in Cumberland, all the soldiers were ready.

On the morning of the fourth day, nearly 20,000 soldiers set off from Cumberland, heading for the lizardmen and jackalan's territory.

The lizardmen and jackalan's territory was not far from the Elf Kingdom's boundary.

The three countries were close to a coast and could be reached by walking straight along the coast.

However, the journey will take about four or five days.

The soldiers march during the day and encamp at night.

They marched at full speed towards their destination.

Chapter 672: The Discovery of the Lizardmen's Main City

The 20,000-strong army formed by Drondheim and the Elf Kingdom finally arrived at the lizardmen's territory on the fourth morning after they departed from Cumberland. The continuous trekking for several days didn't diminish the enthusiasm of the soldiers.

Bunduk and Derrick led the army behind them and stood at the city gates of the lizardmen's main city.

On the city walls stood a line of lizardmen soldiers. When they saw that the troops were at the city gates, they immediately raised their white flags.

The two squads that the lizardmen had excluded had fallen at the hands of Drondheim. At this point, the soldiers left behind to defend the main city weren't enough to fight the troops outside the city gates. There was even a high possibility that the troops would be defeated.

Bunduk and the others did not expect the lizardmen to surrender so easily. At this moment, the main city gates had already been opened by the lizardmen's soldiers. Gradually, several rows of lizardmen soldiers walked out. The lizardmen standing at the front seemed to be the captain of the team. The captain of the guards held the white flag in his right hand and acted as if he was begging for mercy and surrendering.

Bunduk dismounted his horse suspiciously and asked the leader of the lizardmen, who was the representative of surrendering, "Are you here to surrender on behalf of the lizardmen?"

"Yes, all the remaining warriors of the lizardmen are here," the lizardman replied.

When Bunduk heard this, he raised his head and roughly counted the number of lizardmen present. There were only about seven to eight hundred of them.

With such combat strength, if he were to fight head-on with his own troops, it would be like throwing an egg at a rock.

At this moment, Gable walked to Bunduk's side and asked the leader of the lizardmen, "Where is your Lord?"

"The Lord has already abandoned the city and escaped," the lizardman pleaded pitifully. "You can have anything you want, but can you spare our lives?"

Bunduk's expression did not change. He had seen this situation countless times. Since he had chosen to become a warrior and fight on the battlefield, how could his hands not be stained with blood? At this moment, the lizardman was acting like a defeated person. He could understand, but he would not sympathize.

Gable was frowning at the side. He called for his troops to tie up the lizardmen soldiers with ropes and temporarily take them as captives.

The lizardman leader was held hostage by a few soldiers and entered the city with them.

After entering the main city of the lizardmen, Gable said to the lizardman leader, "Did your Lord run away by himself? Or did he bring his treasures with him?"

"The Lord ran away with a few of his personal guards. As time is tight, they didn't seem to bring much," the lizardman leader replied in a panic. "I know where the Lord's treasure vault is. If I bring you there, will you let us go?"

"Hmph, let's find it first," Gable snorted softly.

The leader of the lizardmen then brought them to the palace of the main city of the lizardmen.

Although it was called a palace, its appearance wasn't as shocking as the palaces that Bunduk had seen before. It was unknown if it was due to a lack of budget or something else. The appearance of the palace was very simple. It felt like an ordinary residence that took up a slightly larger area.

The group walked to the entrance of the palace. Gable ordered his elven soldiers to carefully search the main city for resources that could be used.

As for Bunduk and Derrick, they didn't do anything. They were only here to gather actual results. Natural resources weren't particularly useful to Drondheim, which was far away.

Therefore, they didn't need to think about getting a share of the spoils.

The space in the palace was still relatively small, so only Bunduk, the other two, and a few other warriors entered to take a look.

"Your Lord is certainly living a simple life," Gable finally commented as he surveyed the furnishings in the palace. The kitchen in charge of food in the palace was probably only the size of a toilet in the royal palace of the Elf Kingdom.

The lizardman soldier shook his head and said with a wry smile, "You'll know when you follow me down."

Under everyone's astonished gazes, the lizardman opened a secret door. There was a corridor inside.

Bunduk and Derrick followed the lizardman into the secret door. The space inside the door was pitch-black.

"Eh? Why is there ventilation here?" Derrick felt a chill blow across his face as he asked in surprise.

"This section was originally illuminated, but because the cost of lighting is too high, and the items inside aren't suitable for an open fire environment, they were abandoned."

The group followed closely behind the lizardman as they headed to the other end of the corridor.

"There seems to be quite a lot of space in here," Gable said. As his words fell, they could faintly hear an echo.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at an empty plot of land.

The walls of the empty plot of land were inlaid with high-priced fluorescent stones, allowing everyone to see clearly.

"Wow!" Derrick couldn't help but exclaim when he saw the boxes filled with expensive treasures stacked together.

"The Lord didn't take his treasures away. He was probably worried that he would attract the attention of others," the lizardman said from the side.

"He hid so many treasures. If the people around him knew about it, they would probably feel jealous." Bunduk then asked the lizardman, "How did you know where your Lord hid the treasures?"

"I just accidentally barged in." the lizardman lowered his head and said.

"Then why didn't you bring your soldiers and bring these treasures away? This is enough for all of you to enjoy for a few lifetimes."

"Some of the soldiers' families are still in the city. It is impossible to migrate the entire city," the lizardman replied, "instead of that, I might as well give up these treasures to you. Perhaps I can exchange them for a chance of survival."

"Yes." Bunduk nodded and didn't comment.

The soldiers waiting outside the palace were called into the secret chamber. They were in charge of sorting out the treasures.

The soldiers that had been sent out to search previously had sent someone back to deliver a message. They had discovered a Freshwater Lake and an iron mine on the outskirts of the lizardmen's main city.

Gable was overjoyed as he said to Bunduk in a relaxed manner, "The reason why we were able to wipe out the lizardmen this time is mainly due to the army of Drondheim."

"It should be the victory of our cooperation," answered Derrick modestly.

"No, no, no. Without your assistance this time, the elven army wouldn't have been able to achieve such fruitful results," Gable couldn't help but continue praising, "I'm truly grateful to every Drondheim reinforcements."

After Derrick smiled and declined, he finally accepted Gable's sincere gratitude.

The number of financial reports stored in the secret room was indeed astonishing. More than a hundred soldiers had to work in the secret room for a long time before they could finally complete the task of sorting out everything and recording it down.

Chapter 673: The Final Result of the Battle

"Commander Bunduk, may I ask you to transfer a group of people from the troops of the Drondheim soldiers to guard the spoils of war with the remaining troops of the Elf Kingdom in the main city of the lizardmen?" Gable walked to Bunduk's side and asked.

Bunduk faced Gable and nodded, saying, "Of course."

"That's good. In a while, I'll have the guards gather in front of the palace gates. Commander Bunduk, bring the soldiers of Drondheim with you," Gable suggested.

"Okay, I'll send someone to give you the names of the soldiers," Bunduk replied calmly.

"Based on my experience working with you this time, Commander Bunduk is indeed very reliable," Gable praised.

"I just did what I was supposed to do," Bunduk said politely, and continued, "this time, we captured the lizardmen's territory. How does the Elf Kingdom plan to deal with the remaining lizardmen?"

"According to the usual practice after a war, they should be exiled. Anyway, they can't be allowed to return to this city," Gable replied after pondering for a while.

"Yes." Bunduk nodded and didn't say anything else.

In the current situation, it wasn't suitable for him to say too much. Moreover, the Elf Kingdom's way of handling matters could be considered very slow. In the past, many countries fought in all directions. Every place they went to, they would ferociously choose to massacre the entire city. In their eyes, perhaps this was the only way to completely win a war. And even now, many countries would completely destroy the armies of the defeated countries after they won the war to ensure that they would be unable to recover.

Bunduk had never done something like slaughtering a city before. After all, when he saw those ordinary people who had nothing to do with war or politics, he would pity them.

After the distribution of personnel and supplies was settled, other than the soldiers who were in charge of keeping watch, the rest of the people once again embarked on the journey to the Jackalan Kingdom.

The two countries were not far from each other. After two days and a night, all the soldiers arrived at the gate of the jackalans' territory.

Before they got close, the gate of the Jackalan City opened wide. Many armored jackalan soldiers rushed out from inside. After lining up in a row, they stood in front of everyone.

This was the most common offensive formation used by the jackalans.

However, facing more than 10,000 soldiers, this formation did not bring much offensive momentum.

The Lord of the jackalans was at the center of the formation. He belonged to a race that focused on strength and explosive power. As the leader, he was very eye-catching among the jackalans.

"Charge!" the Lord of the jackalans roared angrily. The sound he made was more like the roar of a wild beast.

The jackalan warriors crashed directly into the shield of the Swadian soldiers at the front. They wanted to destroy their formation.

However, after one of the Swadian soldiers fell, new soldiers came forward.

Under the absolute suppression of the number of people, the energy that the jackalans exploded at the end of their lives could not save them.

The cavalries and elven warriors at the back row continuously used long-range attacks to put pressure on the jackalans.

Many of the jackalans fell to the ground with wounds all over their bodies before they could charge forward.

The eyes of the jackalan lord flashed with green light of hatred when he saw this scene. He flew forward and used the astonishing strength of his right arm to cut down a cavalry under his horse.

Behind him, many jackalans also leaped forward, trying to bypass the defense of the Swadian soldiers in the front row and cut straight to the mages and cavalries on horses in the back row.

With their astonishing jumping ability, a portion of the jackalans finally achieved their goal. They successfully disrupted the formation at the back row.

When the Lord of the jackalans first jumped into the rear formation, Bunduk and the others launched a joint attack and beheaded him.

Seeing that the front line was gradually collapsing, they ordered loudly, "Second defensive formation!"

Upon hearing the order, the Swadian Sergeants leaped onto the backs of their comrades and stacked their shields on top of each other.

Under the tough defense, the jackalans couldn't break out of the encirclement again.

They could only watch as the other party gradually shrank away from them.

In the end, they were completely surrounded.

After the smoke of the battle, there were only dozens of elven medical soldiers left on the battlefield.

Bunduk took off his helmet and jumped off his horse. He said to Derrick, "I never expected the jackalans to last until the end and fight us head-on."

"The lord of the jackalans is so different from the lord of the lizardmen," Derrick replied.

After the war ended, Gable led a group of people into the city.

As for Bunduk and Derrick, they stayed outside the city gates and didn't follow him in.

They organized their soldiers to set up a tent and it was done when evening arrived.

Gable also walked out of the city gates with his soldiers carrying suitcases.

Outside the city gates of the jackalan race, smoke rose from the chimneys. Bunduk and the others had their first meal of the day.

After dinner, Bunduk, Derrick, and Gable gathered in the tent.

"Commander Bunduk, Commander Derrick, the results of the two searches have been recorded in the book." Gable took out two books from his pocket and handed them to Bunduk and Derrick, reminding them to keep an eye out for them.

"Thank you." After taking the books, Bunduk said, "Actually, we can't tell much. We'll have to leave this matter to the military officer in charge."

"Yes. The expedition this time is almost coming to an end. It's really my luck to be able to carry out the mission with the two of you," Gable said.

"General Gable, you've said this many times," Bunduk replied. "There's no need to be so polite with us. The Elf Kingdom has been in close contact with Drondheim for the past year, and the border of Cumberland has always been under your care. If we want to thank you, we'll probably have to say it for a few days and nights. In the future, we might meet on the battlefield. Since we've made friends, there's no need to thank us in this way."

Derrick stood to the side and nodded in agreement with what Bunduk said.

Gable was embarrassed to continue. He extended his hand and said, "Alright then. I hope to see you on the battlefield again in the future and become comrades-in-arms with you."

The next morning, Bunduk and Derrick worked out a route back to Cumberland before leading the army on their journey.

The treasures they found were divided into 40-60 percent and loaded onto the carriage.

Kant's letter said that this was the result of his discussion with the elves. Furthermore, in order to reduce the burden of the march, the treasures didn't need to be brought back to the main city by the army.

Upon arrival in Cumberland, it would be brought back to Drondheim by men appointed by Cumberland.

Chapter 674: Preparation for the New Empire

Bunduk's army stayed in Cumberland for less than half a day before leaving.

The Elf King even personally came to the city gate to send them off.

After half a month, the army led by Bunduk returned to Drondheim.

Kant led the guards of the palace to welcome them and announced that a party would be held in the city tonight.

This was the news Kant had immediately informed the citizens of the city upon receiving the news of victory.

He was preparing a surprise for the victorious soldiers when they returned to Drondheim.

It was also to make everyone feel proud of the soldiers of their country.

"Lord."

"Lord."

Upon arriving at the palace's Senate Hall, Bunduk and Derrick bowed to Kant once again.

"Thank you for your hard work," Kant consoled them. "Derrick, how do you feel after winning two battles in a row on your first expedition as a new commander?"

"I'm happy that our country's military is strong. I also feel very pressured by my current position," Derrick replied.

"It's normal to feel pressured. It's good enough to gain confidence from the soldiers under you," Kant said. "There shouldn't be any more battles in the near future. You have to familiarize yourself with it in the military camp as soon as possible."

"Yes, thank you for your wisdom, Lord," replied Derrick.

Kant nodded and continued to ask them about the details of the march. Then, he let the two of them go back to rest.

Drondheim was filled with lanterns and streamers tonight. The bustle was almost the same as during the New Year.

On the way back, the two met many soldiers who were able to stroll around because of the evening party.

Under the constant invitations of these soldiers, Bunduk and Derrick were also crowded into the restaurant.

"Drink to your heart's content tonight. It's my treat," said Bunduk after sitting in the lead seat and toasting everyone.

"Yoo-hoo!" The soldiers happily banged the table and jeered.

"This, do I have to treat you together with me?" asked Derrick as he leaned into Bunduk's ear and said carefully.

Bunduk was feeling a little embarrassed by the soldiers' heckling. When he heard Derrick's words, he was stunned for a moment. Then, he said apologetically to Derrick, "I'm sorry."

"It's okay, I was just saying. No one cares anyway." After taking a sip of his wine, Derrick said to Bunduk with a smile in his eyes, "Just treat it as you treating me once."

With that said, Derrick poured the wine glass over and shook it up and down, indicating that Bunduk had finished his drink.

Bunduk smiled and didn't say anything else.

After Bunduk and Derrick left, Kant sat alone in the hall, correcting the documents until late at night.

After sorting out all the administrative matters for today, Kant took out the topographic map that he had sent to survey the borders.

The founding of the Caradia Empire should indeed be put on the agenda.

Now, in the Nahrin Desert, Drondheim stood alone. The troops wandering in the desert posed no threat to it at all.

The relevant details were ready.

All this was carried out in silence by Kant and several ministers.

Now, it could be announced that it had been confirmed and brought to the surface.

Kant wanted to wait until the army had calmed down from the continuous battles over the past six months before gathering everyone to tell them about the founding of the kingdom.

The original city of the Undead Kingdom had also been completely renovated.

Kant was prepared to set off to see it in a few days. In his impression, the undead had no concept of the public facilities of the city. It was estimated that there were many undeveloped or half-developed resource areas in the main city of the Undead kingdom.

These were also important for the establishment of the Caradia Empire.

Kant imagined the future of the Caradia Empire in his mind.

He felt both excited and uneasy.

It felt like everything was starting to make sense, but he couldn't figure it out completely.

Kant just let his imagination run wild until he fell asleep.

In the next few days.

Kant would often take time out of the day to go to the military camp to take a look.

These two battles were led by Bunduk. Although it wasn't obvious, he was pleasantly surprised to be able to obtain such a result.

The spoils of war brought back from Cumberland were indeed astonishing, but what made Kant even happier was that according to Bunduk's description, Drondheim's army had gradually mastered the ability to adapt to tactics, and their combat ability was constantly improving.

In order to increase the distance between them and the soldiers, Kant chose to visit the military camp frequently.

"Lord, you're here again." Bunduk stepped forward and bowed.

"Your tone makes me feel as if I've been here many times," Kant said with a smile.

Bunduk covered his mouth in panic, then shook his head and said, "I didn't mean that."

Kant smiled and asked, "How's the training in the army recently?"

"I feel that everyone's physical fitness has improved, and the progress of completing the mission is much faster than before. Now, a few of us are considering whether to increase the difficulty of the training," Bunduk said in detail.

"That sounds good. What about you? What have you been doing recently? Why is it that the person who came to my place to summarize for me is Derrick?" Kant continued asking.

"I'm training with the soldiers. I feel that this mission suits me quite well. Different things should be handed over to the right person," Bundk replied.

"Oh?" Kant raised his eyebrows in puzzlement. "If you say that… I don't know what to say. It's just that I can clearly sense your lack of confidence in your words."

"Lack of confidence? I don't think so," Bunduk denied.

"Don't be in a hurry to deny it. Some words are easy to say but difficult to understand. Even if you say it yourself, you may not be able to understand its meaning in your mind," Kant warned Bunduk with a deep meaning.

Kant had two lifetimes of experience in dealing with people. Standing in front of Bunduk, he could see through his thoughts in an instant.

However, he wanted him to solve it himself and not rely on others.

"I'm going to the Undead Kingdom the day after tomorrow. At that time, if you need to submit any documents, just hand them over to my appointed minister," Kant changed the topic.

This was another thing that he had come to inform him about recently.

"The Undead Kingdom? Lord, why are you going there?" Bunduk asked in surprise when he heard this news.

"The place is almost repaired. I'm going to take a look at the results," Kant replied casually.

"Oh, Lord, will you be staying there for a long time?"

"No, I'll probably be back in less than a month," Kant replied. "I'll leave the army to you."

"Yes, my Lord," Bunduk bowed.

Kant helped him up and bid him farewell.

Chapter 675: Investigation of the Undead City

Kant rode on a camel and walked out of the city gate under the cover of a guard dressed in plain clothes.

However, no one recognized him as the lord of Drondheim despite the noise of people outside the city gate.

Kant and his group, disguised as a trade caravan, traveled in the desert for seven days and arrived at the Undead City.

The sign of the territory of the undead at the city gate had been replaced with the sign of Drondheim's territory.

Kant's guards called the city guards above the city gate to open the gate. Under the welcome of the city guards, Kant walked down from the camel's back and asked the captain of the soldiers, "Where is General Adonis?"

"Reporting to the Lord, the general is leading a team to patrol the city. He should be on his way here now," the captain of the soldiers bowed his head and replied respectfully.

"Mm, take me to your barracks. I'll wait for him there," Kant nodded and said.

"Yes," the soldier replied. After instructing a soldier beside him to send a message to General Adonis, he got on his horse and let Kant follow behind him.

Kant rode on his camel and moved forward slowly. On the way, he also browsed through the city planning and design of the undead race. It was slightly different from a normal human city.

After a short observation, Kant found that it was as he had expected. The undead race's cities were all made of stone houses. The distance between them was uneven, and the width of the land was also very different. The streets were also distorted by the construction of these houses.

However, the houses on both sides of the street had been completely dismantled by the repair workers sent by Drondheim. Kant was only observing the exposed foundation and the stone laid on the street, in his heart, he could roughly imagine the original appearance of the Undead City.

Along with the sightseeing, Kant also had a rough idea of the repair project in his heart.

Walking into the military camp, Kant sat down at the main general's seat and waited quietly.

"Lord Kant!" Following a shout, a tall soldier wearing a war uniform walked into Kant's tent.

"General Adonis, long time no see." Kant stood up and greeted with a smile.

Adonis walked to Kant and bowed, panting, he said, "I heard from the soldiers guarding the city that you have arrived here, so I rushed over immediately. I thought that you would only arrive tomorrow, after all, there have been frequent strong winds in the desert recently. The bad weather is not suitable for traveling."

Kant smiled and replied, "I haven't been here for long before you came. Why are you in such a hurry? Take a breath and rest first."

After saying that, Kant ordered the guards to bring a glass of water to Adonis. After Adonis thanked them and took it, he immediately drank it.

"Pardon my rudeness," Adonis wiped his mouth and said apologetically.

Kant knew that this was his nature. He did not say anything and shook his head with a smile.

"Is the Lord here for the renovation project?" Adonis asked.

"Probably. I don't plan to stay here for long. I'm just here to see how the progress is." Kant suddenly thought of something and quickly turned his head and asked, "This place… hasn't been named yet, right?"

"Yes." Adonis scratched his head and said, "Someone in the team reported the proposal of the city's name to you, but didn't receive a response. We also don't know what to call this place specifically."

"Oh, oh. Maybe I missed something." Kant seemed to recall something and nodded.

In fact, the documents from the ministers or other territories would be classified into various grades because of the large number of documents. Kant was only responsible for dealing with the upper three grades. The rest were handed over to the high-ranking ministers who usually discussed national policies together.

Such a simple and complicated matter like naming was probably passed to the minister in charge and then ignored.

However, Kant did not say that he did not see it. The ministers and officers who submitted the documents only knew that they had to mark the important grades of the documents according to the priority of the matter. However, they did not know that a portion of the document would not be sent to the Lord.

Now that he thought about it, Kant felt that this process was indeed not very strict, and mistakes could appear at any time. After the empire was built, the newly issued constitution had to be amended so that the empire's machinery could operate without any mistakes.

Adonis did not think too much about it, he only replied, "I heard that Lord, you will be in the Senate Hall every day to revise the document until late at night. Recently, Drondheim had to go out to war often. Lord, forgetting such a small matter is unavoidable, right?"

"Have the rumors about me spread to such a faraway place?" Kant said in a joking tone, "Why don't you discuss the name of this city and decide for yourself. After all, you guys are the ones who have been guarding this place."

"Really?" Adonis was a little surprised. They should be the first batch of soldiers who gets to decide the name of the country's territory.

"Yes." Kant nodded. "But before you name it, you have to check the background of the name. Don't name it's just because it's pleasant to hear."

"Okay, thank you, Lord," Adonis answered excitedly.

"Tomorrow, I will go with the troops in charge of the repairs to the scene to supervise the work. Go and inform the troops in advance. Tell them to do whatever they need to do. Don't mind me," Kant said to Adonis in detail.

"Yes," Adonis bowed and agreed.

Kant's short-term residence in the main city of the Undead Kingdom was not in the military camp. Instead, it was at the newly built civilian residence next to the original palace.

Kant's room was arranged on the third floor, while the other guards were resting on the second floor.

After Kant walked into the residence, he looked around, then climbed up the stairs and walked into his own room.

This room was very spacious, and all kinds of facilities were fully prepared.

"Unfortunately, there's nothing outside the window," Kant stood by the window and commented as he looked at the ruins of the old palace that had been demolished.

The atmosphere here was completely different from that of Cumberland. Judging from the current trend, this place would be built into a typical industrial city in the future. It would be responsible for providing raw materials and processing.

However, this place and Cumberland had indeed made up for Drondheim's shortcomings.

"Knock, knock!" The guard knocked on the door of the room.

Kant shouted for him to come in. The guard opened the door and placed a few stacks of blueprints on the table in the living room, he said respectfully to Kant, "My Lord, this was sent by Adonis from the repair staff. Please have a look."

Kant nodded, indicating that he understood.

The soldier took the candlestick closer to the blueprints and took his leave.

Kant sat down and began to pick up the design and look at it carefully.

Chapter 676: The Establishment of Durandal

Kant woke up early the next morning. After washing up, he asked someone to lead the way to the construction site.

A large group of uniformed army workers were gathered in the workshop. They were probably preparing to assemble.

Kant and the attendants walked to the end of the line and stood still. Many workers around them noticed the luxurious clothes they were wearing and looked at them.

But no one knew that Kant was the Lord of Drondheim. The workers only talked to each other and guessed the identity of the two men. They did not go forward to talk.

The daily gathering would be held after breakfast. The leader of the repair team, Kloritz, would speak at this time. The garrison led by Adonis would also be present.

When Kant and the others entered the field, Adonis locked his gaze on the two men.

However, he remembered what Kant had said before, that he did not want the workers to notice his identity as the Lord. So, he did not go forward to greet them.

When the gathering was over and the workers received their tasks and went to look for the team on their own, they dispersed.

Adonis summoned Kloritz and walked to Kant. He bowed his head and said, "Hello, Lord."

"Mm." Kant glanced at the two of them and nodded. Then, he said to Kloritz, "I'll have to trouble you this time."

"It's our honor for the Lord to come here to survey. We won't feel troubled," Kloritz shook his head and hurriedly said.

"Hehe." Kant smiled. Thinking that today was the first time he met Kloritz, he didn't say anything else.

"What about General Adonis? Is there anything you want to report?" Kant turned his head and asked Adonis.

"Yes, Lord. Yesterday you have asked us to discuss the name of this city internally. The soldiers and I have come up with one. We want the Lord to hear it," Adonis said in embarrassment.

"So soon?" Kant raised his eyebrows. "Then let me hear it from you. What name do you want?"

"Durandal," Adonis said, and then he cast a cautious look at Kant.

Kant nodded. He had heard of this name, Durandal. It had an unchanging meaning. The former Holy Knight, Roland's sword, was also called this name.

"As expected, it's a name that was thought of by people who came from the military," Kant said affirmatively. "It's quite good, and it also matches this city. If I didn't think of it, I would use this."

"Thank you, Lord," Adonis said with gratitude.

"Take this as an urgent report to Drondheim. The craftsmen in the main city will make a suitable plaque for Durandal," Kant instructed.

"Got it," Adonis agreed, and then he left.

"Durandal is such a good name," Kloritz said, "This city will also become a sharp sword that Drondheim expects."

"I hope so," Kant said thoughtfully. "I didn't expect Captain Kloritz to read such a long history of heroic poetry."

"No, I just saw that some soldiers liked it very much, so I was influenced and learned a little about it," Kloritz heard Kant's ridicule and hurriedly declined.

"Well, I also read 'The Song of Roland' a long time ago. The words in the poem could easily stir up the blood in everyone's hearts. Captain Kloritz learned something very good," Kant continued.

"Thank you, Lord, for your praise," Kloritz replied with embarrassment.

"Where should we go today?" Kant asked as they got back to business.

"I want to bring the Lord to take a look at the coal mines in the outskirts of the city. That place hasn't been developed by the undead before," Kloritz replied.

"Yes." Kant nodded and agreed.

Not long after, Kloritz's men brought a carriage and horses.

"Don't we need to ride camels?" Kant asked curiously. Speaking of the suburbs, the distance should be quite far. He roughly recalled the distance between the center of the city and the boundary marked with the coal mine on the paper he saw last night.

"The workers in the army have already built a shortcut in the city. If we take that road, the distance will shrink quite a bit, and the road is very flat," Kloritz explained in detail.

After Kant heard this, he boarded the carriage in peace.

Accompanying him were his personal guards and soldiers.

The space in the carriage was relatively wide, and the cushions were covered with silky and soft brocade. This cushioned the bumpy road to the greatest extent.

The area of the Undead City was relatively wide, to begin with. Kloritz rode his horse in front to lead the way to the mining area in the western suburbs.

After an hour or so, while sitting in the carriage, Kant looked through the window railings, he saw that the buildings had become sparser and sparser. The surrounding scenery had become a desert filled with yellow soil, and the temperature in the carriage was constantly rising.

After a while, the carriage stopped.

"Have we arrived?" Kant asked in his heart.

The coachman who was in charge of driving the horse raised the curtain of the carriage and said to Kant, "My Lord, we have arrived at our destination. Please get off the carriage."

Kant nodded and tidied his clothes. He stepped on the stairs and got off the carriage.

When he saw him, Kloritz said to him, "Lord, the construction site of the coal mine is in front of us."

Kant's line of sight passed Kloritz and looked at the newly built workers' dormitory in the distance.

"Yes." Kant continued to look around and replied, "Then let's go to the site to take a look now."

The group set off towards the coal mining site.

"This time, we discovered an open-pit coal mine, so it didn't take much time to prepare for construction. Up until now, the amount of coal stored in the factory has reached dozens of tons," Kloritz introduced to Kant as he walked.

"Are we still using manual coal mining?" Kant asked.

"That was before, but after applying for assistance from the main city of Drondheim, the workers have already begun to learn how to use portable machines to mine coal," Kloritz replied.

Kant glanced at the staff dormitory in the desert and continued, "This kind of working environment is still too harsh. Did any employees report to you any suggestions from the workers?"

"Not for the time being." Kloritz thought about it and shook his head.

"Then I'll arrange a task for you. Go to the workers and do a detailed investigation in the next week. See if they have any requests. After you have checked, summarize the document and report it to me," Kant arranged.

"Got it." Kloritz nodded and reminded his subordinates to quickly record it in words.

Kant panted as he looked up at the sun hanging in the middle of the sky. He could not help but sigh in his heart. He had been sitting in the palace for the past half a year and did not do any exercise at all. His physical fitness had indeed decreased a little.

Chapter 677: Visiting the Coal Mine on the First Day

A group of people walked past the staff quarters and the warehouse where the coal was stored. Finally, they arrived at the coal production site.

Kant stood on the high ground and looked down at the entire mine.

All the workers were busy moving in and out. Some were responsible for mining with machines, some were responsible for measuring, and some were responsible for carrying.

"Based on the results so far, what is the annual output of this coal mine?" Kant asked Kloritz.

"About 1,200 tons. This is an estimate based on the premise of mitigating the geological damage caused by coal mining," Kloritz replied.

"Yes, for our current technical level, this output is indeed astonishing." Kant could not help but nod his head and comment, "Then the quality of the coal produced, what is the result of your inspection?"

"We brought samples from the coal bunker." Kloritz handed Kant a pair of worker's gloves, and then the subordinate behind him pushed out a small basket of mine coal.

After Kant put on the gloves, Kloritz moved the coal basket forward, and while introducing it to Kant's warrior, he said, "This is the mined coal that has been filtered by the factory and stored in the warehouse."

Kant weighed a piece of coal and carefully observed it. From the appearance, the quality of the coal was indeed not bad. It was bright black, and under the natural light, it was wrapped in a layer of luster. The degree of coal melting was relatively deep. Kant broke a small piece of it and rubbed it on a piece of wood, crushing it into powder. When he saw that the scratches on the wood were also dark gray, he let out a sigh of relief.

He stood up and said to Kloritz, "Conquering the Undead Kingdom has brought many unexpected benefits. If you have more detailed reports, you don't have to let me read them. If you need people to take charge, I will ask Drondheim to send people to assist you."

"Thank you, Lord," Kloritz bowed and replied.

Then, the group walked down the highland.

Kloritz walked in front of the group and led Kant and the others to browse through the operation sequence of the entire assembly line in the coal mining factory.

It was not until late in the evening that the group of people walked out of the factory.

They boarded the carriage and returned to Durandal.

"Today's work will be over," Kant said to Kloritz as he stood in front of the residential building where he was resting.

"Lord, please go back and rest well. I'll take my leave first." Feeling the weariness in Kant's words, Kloritz took the initiative to say goodbye.

"Yes, you too. You've worked hard," Kant replied.

The two of them said goodbye to each other. Kloritz watched Kant walk into the building and then turned to leave.

Kant returned to his room and saw a large pile of documents on the round table in the living room.

It seemed that the messenger had brought them from Drondheim.

Kant walked to the chair beside the table and sat down.

When he came to Durandal, his schedule for the whole day was even more packed.

Kant picked up the document that was placed at the top and began to read it.

"Knock, knock." There was a knock on the door.

"Please come in," Kant said without raising his head.

Until he heard footsteps approaching in front of him, Kant raised his head and looked at the other party.

The official messenger stood in front of him and greeted, "Lord, you're back."

"Yes. Did you send these today?" Kant glanced at the document on the table and asked.

"Yes. This is the document that arrived in the Senate Hall within a week from the day you left for Durandal, Lord," the messenger explained softly.

"Yes, there are indeed quite a few." Kant said with a headache, "Then when are you going back?"

"I originally wanted to go back tonight, but the road conditions in the desert have been worsening recently. I could only stay and ask the soldiers by the city wall. They told me that the weather will improve tomorrow, so I plan to go back tomorrow night," the messenger replied carefully.

"Well, then I'll give you the corrected copy before you leave tomorrow night," Kant pinched the bridge of his nose and said thoughtfully.

When the messenger heard Kant's words, he looked at the small mountain of documents on the table. He couldn't help but reveal a look of shock. However, he had been by Kant's side for a long time, so he understood Kant's temper. After a moment of silence, he hesitated and said, "Lord, isn't it too rushed?"

"It's fine. The ministers who submitted the report are probably also a little anxious from waiting for a reply. In order to resolve it as soon as possible, we still have to quickly correct it and bring it back to them," Kant shook his head and said.

"Alright then." The messenger's eyes were slightly worried as he agreed, "Then I'll go and make a pot of tea for you, Lord."

After saying that, he bowed and left Kant's room.

Kant took out ink and began to carefully review the documents he had read.

He did not even notice the messenger knocking on the door. Sensing Kant's concentration, the messenger carefully put down the teapot and left with the door closed.

"Lord Messenger, has the Lord not rested yet?" When the messenger walked to the first floor, one of the attendants sitting in the hall, who was chatting idly, took the initiative to talk to him.

"The Lord probably won't sleep tonight. Are you in charge of keeping watch?" the messenger replied.

"Yes, it's our turn to stand guard today. It's quite boring," the attendant who had spoken earlier replied after being questioned.

"Is the Lord busy dealing with the government affairs sent from Drondheim? It's really hard work." The attendant sitting on the other side said with a sigh.

"The Lord has been on the road for a whole day and is now in his room to approve the documents. You two stay in the hall on the first floor quietly and don't disturb the Lord," ordered the messenger.

"Yes!" replied the two soldiers.

The messenger nodded and walked back to his room on the second floor to rest.

At noon the next day, after feeding the camels with food and water, the messenger walked into the residential building.

The weather was great today. According to the soldiers of the city tower, the storm in the desert had finally calmed down, and the visibility was several times better than last night.

The messenger walked to the stairs on the third floor and was about to report to Kant that his departure time was about to be advanced.

But he happened to meet Kant, who was going out with a pile of documents.

"Well, you are here?" Kant asked. He was about to hand over the documents that had been approved.

The messenger saw the slightly haggard lord and replied, "I'm here to report the departure time to you, Lord."

"Are you going to set off? Coincidentally, I can pass these directly to you. Be careful on the way," Kant said as he handed the documents in his arms to the messenger across from him.

"Ah, thank you for your hard work, Lord," the messenger thanked him.

Kant smiled and shook his head. He turned his head to look out of the window by the corridor and said, "The weather today is really good."

As soon as he finished speaking, he turned around and went back to his room.

Perhaps he was so sleepy that he couldn't take it anymore. The messenger thought as he stood on the spot with his arms full of documents.

Chapter 678: Leisure on a Normal Day

After Kant returned to his room, he collapsed on the bed.

He slept until the next morning.

Because he did not make an appointment with Kloritz in advance, he did not have any plans for the day.

After Kant had a good night's rest, he went out alone with a full spirit.

Not far from the residential building was the old palace of the Undead Kingdom.

Although it had been demolished into ruins, Kant still wanted to take a look inside.

When he stepped into the entrance of the palace, there were many workers busy with their work, so they did not notice Kant who was shuttling between them.

Kant raised his head and looked around. The stone roof of the palace had been removed by the workers of the renovation team. Because the entire inner wall of the palace was connected, when the roof was destroyed, some of the walls collapsed.

Kant walked into the long corridor that the original expedition team had walked through and arrived at the battlefield of chaos.

The altar in the center of the room had also been torn down, but the open fire platform had been preserved. It seemed that the workers would also come here at night to work.

The ground made of stone bricks with the emblem of the Undead Kingdom was smashed, revealing the soil underground.

Some of the soil was darker as if fresh blood had seeped into the ground.

Kant sighed in his heart, silently praying for the soldiers who had died in battle. He then left the room.

Kant stopped at the door leading to the long corridor, hesitating whether he should go to the dungeon and infirmary that Bunduk had mentioned before.

He gave up after some careful consideration.

He immediately walked out of the palace.

Kant continued to stroll casually on the streets, while he browsed both sides of the street.

On the streets, there were workers in charge of transporting goods. It could be considered quite lively.

Kant followed the flow of people and strolled through the streets, spending the most relaxed time he had in recent times.

He only returned to the residence before dinner time.

He met Kloritz who had come to look for him.

"Hello, Lord," Klortiz greeted him.

"Yes." Kant nodded and sat down on a chair in the hall to rest. "When did you come?"

Before he left, he received news from the guards that Kloritz had come to look for him while he was resting. He then asked someone to send a message to Kloritz, saying that they would meet at the residence at dusk.

Kloritz didn't expect him to arrive so early.

"I haven't been here for long, and you've arrived, Lord," Kloritz said.

"Then stay and have dinner together. If there's anything, we can talk about it after dinner," Kant suggested.

Kloritz nodded in slight surprise. "Thank you, Lord, for the invitation."

When it was close to dinner time, the number of people coming and going in the hall and the kitchen increased.

Some of the assistants who worked for the chef had to help deliver food to the workers who were working in shifts at the construction site.

Kant led Kloritz to the private room on the second floor of the side hall and sat down. Then, soldiers continuously brought the prepared food from the back kitchen.

This meal was very reserved. Kant had the habit of eating without saying anything, so after he picked up the bowl, he did not speak again.

Kloritz usually ate with the noisy workers in the military camp, but he was not used to this slightly cold atmosphere.

After a few mouthfuls, he put down his bowl and chopsticks. He said to Kant, who was sitting across from him, "I'm done. Lord, enjoy."

Kant heard the voice and raised his head. After chewing a mouthful of food, he asked, "You ate so quickly? I saw that you didn't even take any dishes."

"Well, maybe it's because I've been staying outdoors all day. The weather is too hot, so my appetite isn't very good," Kloritz explained with an embarrassed nod.

"Hehe, I guess you're not used to eating with me," Kant teased with a smile.

Kloritz shook his head with a smile.

"If I had known earlier, I would have eaten with the soldiers in the lobby on the first floor. That way, it wouldn't be so awkward," Kant said as he scooped the soup into his bowl.

"No, no, it's better to follow the Lord's habits," Kloritz hurriedly denied.

Kant smiled and slowly drank the soup in the bowl.

When the soup bowl reached the bottom, he took a napkin and wiped his mouth. He said to Kloritz, "I'm done too. Let's go to the study and talk."

The two walked from the second floor to the study of the third-floor suite.

Kant didn't usually use this room, and the bookshelf was empty.

The fence outside the window contained some flowers and plants with a faint fragrance.

Kant walked to a chair and sat down, motioning for Kloritz to take a seat.

Looking at the gradually darkening sky outside the window, Kant said, "What are your plans for tomorrow?"

"I've read the Lord's notes on the attachment to the manuscript. Perhaps tomorrow we can go to Half Moon Lake to take a look. That's the only freshwater resource in Durandal," Kloritz said after thinking for a moment.

"Freshwater resources. Hmm, the problems there are also related to the development of this city," Kant said.

"Although the underground water resources of Half Moon Lake are indeed abundant, if we want to build an iron smelter in Durandal, it is still a bit tight," Kloritz said.

"If we want to build an iron smelter in Durandal, the current conditions may not be enough," Kant commented.

"But if the coal mining industry here wants to develop, it must form an industrial chain," Kloritz continued Kant's words.

"This is indeed a bit difficult," Kant said.

If they wanted to transfer water from the coast thousands of kilometers away from here, it would take a lot of work.

After all, there were a series of uncertain factors such as the terrain, the rock layers along the way, and the processing of the seawater.

Kloritz also roughly guessed Kant's thoughts.

He had previously thought of transferring water resources from other places, but after a deeper understanding, he realized that the process was not that simple.

Thinking of this, Kloritz also revealed a distressed expression.

"There's no need to rush the matter of ironmaking. After more information is obtained, we can make a decent conclusion," Kant finally said.

"Mm." Kloritz also had no clue and nodded in response.

"Do you think it's a good time to let the people of Drondheim move over?" Kant asked.

Kloritz thought carefully. "Right now, the population that Durandal can support is indeed up to a standard. However, the city's infrastructure is still in the construction stage. I guess there will be a shortage in supplies to provide the people if they move in at this time."

"Recently, the number of people who came to me to petition to move to Durandal has increased. Most of them are the relatives of the soldiers who sacrificed themselves. I really don't know how to answer them." After a moment of silence, Kant sighed softly.

Chapter 679: The Journey to the Freshwater Lake

The next morning, after Kant had breakfast.

A familiar carriage stopped in front of the residential building. Kant walked out of the door and saw Adonis, who was dressed in plain clothes, sitting in the seat of the original coachman.

When Adonis saw Kant, he immediately got off the carriage and bowed. "Good morning, Lord."

"Why were you alone in the carriage? Where is Kloritz?" Kant asked.

"Captain Kloritz's leg was accidentally injured. The Freshwater Lake is closer to the coal mine that we went to the day before yesterday. I will lead the way for you, Lord," Adonis replied.

"Then I am the only one who can sit in your carriage." Kant smiled and waved his hand. He dismissed the guards who were following him. "But this is also quite good. It is easy to travel light."

Adonis nodded and helped Kant into the carriage.

Along the way, Adonis would occasionally talk to Kant, who was sitting in the carriage, and ask him about the recent situation of Bunduk and the others, as well as the details of the battle at the border of the Elf Kingdom. He had not returned to Drondheim for three months, and a lot of the news was scattered. He was not very clear about the situation in Drondheim.

"Do you want to go back?" Kant asked.

"Yes, I do. I wanted to go back after staying here for less than a month. But now that I have stayed here for four months, I don't think about it anymore," Adonis replied.

"Because of the war, the main city did not have enough people, so I did not gather the troops to replace you. In fact, I should have let you go back to rest a long time ago," Kant said. "Do you still have family in Drondheim?"

"Yes, I have a wife and child. My wife would send me letters every half a month. My child is still young. I guess he still doesn't know why I left," Adonis said. "Actually, it's not hard here. Rather than going back, I want my family to come here and take a look."

"Drondheim has a ban on leaving the city. This matter will fall through," Kant said.

The wind and sand were getting stronger and stronger. Even if they were less than a meter apart, they still had to shout to hear each other's words.

"That's a pity," Adonis said.

If it was possible, he would rather bring his family to stay here. However, his wife and children probably wouldn't be willing. After all, the bustling life of Drondheim always seemed to be attractive.

The two of them spent a lot of time chatting as they walked. When they reached the side of Half Moon Lake, the strong wind gradually weakened.

So Kant stood by the lake and carefully looked at the appearance of Half Moon Lake.

The surface of the lake was dark blue, between two dunes. As his vision extended, Kant estimated that this Freshwater Lake was about ten square kilometers.

It was indeed quite rare.

The undead that lived here before probably did not pay much attention to the water source like the elves did.

It allowed it to develop to its present scale naturally.

The more Kant thought about it, the more he felt that this original Undead City was a treasure.

Kant squatted down and probed the lake water by the shore. The lake water was cool and refreshing. When it was near the surface of the water, there seemed to be a breeze blowing by.

"Lord," Adonis called out to Kant.

Kant stood up, but his figure was a little absent-minded.

"Be careful!" Adonis quickly went forward to support Kant.

"I'm sorry, my body seems to have become a little weak recently." Kant stabilized himself and said to Adonis with a smile.

"Lord, you have to take care of your body," Adonis said worriedly.

Kant nodded and accepted his kindness. Someone turned to look at the surface of the lake. "This lake is really beautiful. It's even more valuable than an oasis in the desert. Durandal is truly lucky to have such resources by its side."

"In a few months, the period of rainfall in the Nahrin Desert will come again," Adonis said.

"Before the period of rainfall comes, we must build a reservoir to store water," Kant came to this conclusion after observing the place on the spot.

"If that's the case, it's true. I forgot about this on the planning paper. I'm really sorry, Lord," Adonis apologized to Kant after thinking about this.

"No rush. You can't handle this with the manpower in the city," Kant replied. "After staying here for two days, I feel that it's much more complicated than I imagined to build Durandal into a typical industrial city."

At least, several problems needed to be solved with a lot of manpower.

"I really want to solve all these problems before the founding of the country." Kant thought silently in his heart.

On the way back, Adonis' speed in driving the carriage was much slower than before.

Firstly, the fierce wind in the desert had stopped, and secondly, considering Kant's physical condition, he didn't want to cause any discomfort to Kant while traveling.

Kant sat in the carriage for a while and felt that it was a little stuffy inside.

He walked out and sat beside the carriage driver's seat.

He looked at the scenery of the desert.

In the end, he found a group of wandering jackalans on the horizon in the distance.

Kant could not help but frown. He thought to himself and asked Adonis, "Did the soldiers guarding the city not find anything?"

"It's quite common for other races to be wandering outside like this. However, they don't seem to dare to get close to Durandal. I don't know if they are afraid of the undead or the soldiers under Bunduk's command," Adonis replied.

The soldiers led by Adonis were responsible for patrolling the city and the border.

So far, they had not been attacked by these wandering races.

Kant heard what Adonis said and nodded. "However, you still have to be careful. The security guard tower hasn't been completed yet. The only ones guarding this city are the soldiers stationed here."

"Yes!" Adonis replied loudly.

When Kant looked in the direction he had just been, the group of jackalans had disappeared.

In the evening, Adonis' carriage arrived at the gate of the residential building.

After saying goodbye to Kant, Adonis continued to drive the carriage to the military camp. He still had a lot of military affairs to settle.

Kant went back to his room after dinner.

He began to write down what he had seen and felt in the last few days.

He drew a circle of resources on the paper, trying to figure out what to do with the resources he had at hand when he returned to Drondheim.

After all, the investment required for each project is connected.

He had to distinguish the steps in order to properly distribute the resources.

Until late at night, Kant was still sitting at the table, making plans for the future Durandal. A pile of discarded paper was piled up beside his elbow.
