This story holds much potential for me. The theme deserves more exploration. it is not finished. I have written many scenarios, this is one of my favorites.

"Do you know what inspires me, Catherine?" She asked from her place in a chair that seemed made for her. She was still in uniform and the image made Cat consider building an alter for the super woman and placing it on the cover of her magazine. Perhaps there was hope for a cult yet.

"No, Kara Zor-El." She answered. Kara chuckled, though it wasn't kind.

"Science, kitty. I was well on my way to becoming a brilliant scientist. Of course, I was still in 'junior high' at the time but it was clear where my talents lied. Who knows? I might be done something different. Too late now though isn't it?" she asked maliciously. Cat decided she did not like where this was going. "Do you know why I'm stuck here working with you instead of in a biology lab somewhere?"

She inhaled sharply at the disgust aimed at her for the first time. Admittedly, she hadn't been prepared for the personal emotional pain she would suffer at this woman's hands. Hadn't even contemplated it until this moment. It was barely time enough to prepare.

"You." Kara spat, zoned in on her moment of weakness. Cat determined it would not happen again. Not so easily anyway. "A lowly magazine editor who thinks she's so important she doesn't care to get my name right. Oh certainly, you 'help' the people who bring about real change, but I mean with my knowledge? I could cure all that ails you." Kara scoffed over the sound of her tears. "I've been working on something for you by the way. Drink up." She removed a vial from her pocket and tossed it on the floor at Cat's knees.

Swallowing the harsh, pleading, sobbing words on her tongue, Cat lifted the vial and downed its contents. Kara seemed to examine her for a beat before turning her head back out the window.

"But I can't do that Cat. Do you know why?"

"No, Kara Zor-El."

"Because I know too much. I would advance your science years before you're even ready for it and I never even finished high school." Kara sighed as she stared out of the window. "Hell I could destroy your society with just a star chart!"

Cat longed to crawl towards the superwoman and rest her head on that strong lap. Anything to assuage her pain just a smidge. So she did.

At the tentative but firm press of her temple against Kara's knee, a sigh escaped perfect lips and Kara's hand hovered above her head.

"Do it." Cat said. "I don't mind."

Kara sighed and ran her hand over smooth hair before sliding her fingers up against the scalp. Ruining Cat's hair but damn near making her purr.

"Can you imagine what it is to be stuck in this slow moving society? Can you imagine if I sent you back to the 1700's, to a town where you know the same three people forever? I'm alone even amongst the stars in this galaxy! And yet you people, my only company, are always crying out for help." She growled. The gentle and comforting hand turned painful, cruel. "You people are always grasping at me, dragging me back down to you to answer your calls. Cause I know no one else will. No one else can hear you, can help you."

"Ah! Kara please!" Cat gasped and reached at the hands holding the hair near her neck. Superhuman strength lifted her head and body just enough to be painful and a melodic mocking voice reached her ear.

"Say 'Thank you Kara for helping us pathetic creatures.'"

"Thank you Kara for helping us pathetic creatures." She gritted out. Immediately, she was released and put few feet of space between them, though instinct demanded she leave the room. Running would only get her chased and Kara did not like that.

"Now say it like you mean it." Kara said despondently and suddenly, Cat understood her purpose. She had offered to worship the young woman. While originally her mind conjured up mostly sexual and 1940's housewife moments, she had few qualms about such literal worship.

Praise a woman that could shoot lasers from her eyes? Draw a storm with her breath? A woman who knew the Milky Way was an insignificant isolated speck in the universe?

She readjusted her position, noting that her joints no longer ached, and keeled. Her hands folded on the ground in front of her and she bowed.

"Thank you, Kara." She looked up into solid blue eyes. "For suffering the ignorance of years long past for the benefit of people who barely deserve it."

Kara huffed and stared out the window. "You do barely deserve it…"

Cat rose and bowed once more. "Thank you Kara for healing my joints." She whispered.

"You're welcome."

Like a woman at the foot of a goddess, Cat raised and lowered her body before the woman multiple times, thanking her for not murdering the planet out of anguish and even going so far as to save it. Almost everytime, Kara answered her.
