Episode 53: Birth Of The White Blade Part 1
July 14th 7:00 p.m. (Two Years Ago)
The dove. One of the many avians on the planet Earth. Majestic at first glance, though out of all of them, the White Dove brings more than just their appearance alone. The White Dove represents new beginnings, peace, fidelity, prosperity, and love. These five qualities are the foundations of the Rainbow Gems and what they represent as a whole. No matter what happens; No matter what occurs; No matter the outcomes, they will always spread their wings and soar into the skies above, reaching the summit of their goals.
Tonight, a new dove is about to officially become apart of the flock. His name...is Kameron Diamond Eduardo Evans. Since he was very young he asked his family if he could become a Rainbow Gem too, though his request was declined for a plethora of reasons, but once he reached thirteen is request had finally been granted...with a few conditions added in. Through months of training his mind, body, and soul, the time has come to earn his place.
Step by step underneath the night sky filled with an ocean of stars accompanied by a beautiful crescent moon, Kameron calmly and quietly walked up to the arena. Just last month he turned fourteen and his training has all but been completed, however there was only one more test he must complete.
'This is it.' Kameron thought to himself. 'Tonight is the night. Tonight...everything chances. Can't believe it took me this long to get here, but...I knew this was gonna be a long process the moment I started this. And now...it's time for all of my training to finally pay off.'
Kameron's lips stretched into a grin with several snickers coming out. He soon stopped in place while cracking his neck. This was no longer a dream, this was definitely real. Turning his head to the right he witnessed his siblings and his mother sitting at the stands. Raising up his arm he brought up his index finger and middle finger while giving them the biggest smile he could ever make. In turn each of them gave the same sign with added smiles, except of Onyx. Turning his head his eyes immediately locked onto his father, who was quietly approaching him with narrowed eyes before stopping in place several feet from his son.
"Kameron." Green began. "Congratulations for making it this far. I'm very proud of you, my son. We all are. Unfortunately, You are required to accomplish one more task before becoming an official Rainbow Gem. Understand?" Kameron gave his father a nod. "Good. Now, this final test will both be very simple and yet very difficult. Your goal is to move me from this spot. Merely an inch or several feet, as long as you can manage to nudge me, then you all earn your wings." Green added.
Kameron blinked at his father. That's it? That's all that he has to do? Pfft, that's not so hard, but then again, this was his father, ex-member of the Diamonds and leader of the Rainbow Gems.
Green slowly raised both of his arms into the air. Kameron watched closely as various crystals began to emerge from his father's hands and float into the air. One by one more crystals exited out of his father's hands and began to float around his body, circling themselves around him at a steady pace.
Closing his eyes Kameron began to slowly suck in air into his nose before exhaling it out of his mouth. Calmly bending his knees he began to jump. Up and down. Up and down. Up and down. Up and down. Up and down. His family watched as he jumped in place, building up his rhythm with every jump. A very...unusual starter, but nonetheless very unique to himself as they continued watching.
Kameron's eyes instantly shot open the moment he landed back on the ground before he dashed toward his father. At an alarming speed the teenage hybrid quickly made his way toward his father. Leaping into the air Kameron rapidly spun his body, twisting it several times right before he stretched out his leg, aiming it directly at his father's chest. Watching it come to him Green gathered the crystals around him, piling them up right before Kameron's foot made contact with it. The amount of force placed into Kameron's foot make several small cracks into Green's crystals, but not too much as he pushed his son away with tremendous force.
Getting some airtime Kameron bent his body forward, wrapping his arms around his legs as his body spun. Just as he was about to hit the ground he quickly unwrapped his arms right as his feet hit the stone-filled landscape. Straightening his back Kameron's smile never left his lips as he looked at his father. A good attempt, but that was just the warm up. Time to take it up a notch.
Bending his body Kameron slowly lowered himself as his hand softly touched the ground. His father quickly separated the pile of crystals as they went back to circling them while he himself watched to witness what his son was going to attempt next. In a flash Kameron dashed at his father once more. Observing his son's movements Green immediately gathered his crystals in front of him, however as Kameron got close to the pile he quickly jumped high into the air. Everyone watched Kameron getting some more airtime, but just as it looked like he was learning from his previous attempt a long crystal pillar grew right behind Green. Rapidly approaching it Kameron stretched his arms out, grabbing onto the pillar with both hands while rotating himself.
'Hmm... What are you prepared to do now, Kameron?' Green thought to himself as he turned his head to his son.
As Kameron continued rotating himself several more pillars erupted from the ground, circling themselves around Green from a distance. After taking another spin Kameron released himself from the first crystal pillar and quickly made his way to the next one. Coming up to it Kameron stretched out his leg just as his foot made contact with the next pillar. Bending his leg Kameron's Gemstone started illuminating a green light right before he burst through the air, going toward the next pillar. One after the other Kameron moved from one pillar to the next while his eyes began to glow green.
From the stands the rest of the family watched the event going, through from their perspectives Kameron had become a green blur.
"Damn... He's really pickin' up that momentum." Amber said.
"He sure is." Citrine replied. "Didn't think he was gonna go this fast. What's he gonna do next?"
"Hard to say." Azurite said as she intertwined her fingers together. "Though I wish Kameron would not push himself this much."
"He wanted to be a Rainbow Gem and he's making the effort to achieve that goal." Pyrope replied. "Besides, we can't protect him forever. He can handle bullies, but without the training we put him through he wouldn't know how to deal with a Corrupted during a panic. He's a smart kid, but when he wants to reach something, he'll push his limits to get to it."
"No doubt about that." Charoite said. "But...there will come days when we can't be there for him and something bad might happen."
"Totes." Lepidolite replied. "We can't protect him forever. And one day our little bird will leave the nest, but...until then...let's protect him as much as we need to. Knowing our brother, he would definitely do the same whenever we get in trouble."
"Agreed." Onyx added nonchalantly.
The Rainbow siblings then turned their eyes onto their mother. She didn't utter a single word, but tightly intertwined her fingers together as she watched her youngest son go up against his own father so he can become a guardian of the planet. As much as she disliked this idea and the very thought of Kameron facing a Corrupted scared her to death, this was what he wanted to do. Yes, it would also intervene with his school life, but knowing her son, he'll try to balance both.
Reaching another pillar Kameron burst high in the skies. Looking down at his father Kameron bent his body forward, wrapping his arms around his legs as he began to descend. Falling from the highest peak he could reach Kameron began to quickly rotate his body while crystals began to emerge out of his skin until it covered him from head to toe. Watching his son come for him Green's crystals took immediate action, gathering together and forming a large circular shield in front of him. More and more Kameron fell, directing himself straight to his father's shield until he made contact.
Upon making contact the shield started to hold it's own against him, but cracks began to appear in various areas of the shield until it ultimately broke, allowing Kameron to break through. Green raised both of his arms up to his head just as Kameron and him made contact. Crystallizing his hands, Green let out several grunts as he tried to get a good grip on his son, but little did he realize, his feet was slowly moving from the ground. Small cracks began to appear as Green managed to pierce his fingers into his son's crystals, but in the blink of an eye each crystal on Kameron sudden broke off of him, pushing him away from his father.
Falling to the ground Kameron landed right on his feet, but his legs abruptly stumbled and he fell right on his back. Heavy breaths quickly exited out of his mouth while his chest rose up and down. 'Gotta work on that.' Kameron thought to himself.
"Kameron. Are you okay?" Green asked as he absorbed his crystals into his hands.
"I'm *heavy breathing* alright *heavy breathing* dad." Kameron replied between breaths. "I think *heavy breathing* I used *heavy breathing* too much energy."
Green could help but chuckle as he approached Kameron before getting down on one knee, "I can see that. That speed you showed me was very impressive, but it comes with a great drawback. I suggest you work on that and use it sparingly, okay?"
Kameron nodded. "Did *heavy breathing* I pass? Or *heavy breathing* I didn't do enough?"
Green gave Kameron a nod. With the display he just witnessed, his son definitely gave it his all with what he could do. That and his immense power was more than enough to earn him a passing grade. "Indeed. You've passed, Kameron." He added, offering his hand out. "Welcome to our flock."
July 14th 8:00 p.m. (Two Years Ago)
Gathering into the living room within the Evans' Residence, Kameron stood at the center with his brothers standing on his right while his sisters stood on his left. Green and Christie walked up to Kameron with the mother holding something in her arms.
"Kameron." Christie said softly. "When you were born and brought into our lives, it was the happiest day I've ever went through. Seeing your cute face and your little hands... Your beautiful eyes... We were all worried how things would go once you've witnessed what our family and the Crystal Gems do. As hard as we tried to convince you not to follow this path, our efforts ended up being null and void in the end. So...for becoming apart of the flock, I want to give you this."
Stepping forward Christie handed Kameron her gift. Unfolding it Kameron's eyes slowly widened by the second as he carefully looked at it. A black hoodie jacket. And as he turned it around he saw a large white dove on the back. Everyone in the family had one. Amber has one on her hat, Azurite has two on her bracelets, Pyrope has his as a necklace, Citrine has one on his belt-buckle, Charoite wore one as a earring, Lepidolite had one on her shirt, Onyx had one on his choker, and both Green and Christie had one on their rings.
Kameron's lips stretched into a large smile as he went up to his mother before wrapping his arms around her. Christie gasped at Kameron sudden embrace, but regardless, she wrapped her arms around him. In less than a second, each of the Rainbows stepped in, embracing each other in a massive family hug.
Shortly after they all released themselves from each other. As they did Kameron quickly unzipped his new jacket and placed it on. Didn't matter if it was hot or cold, this hoodie was gonna be wore every single day for the rest of his life. "I love it. How's it look?" He added.
"It suits you very nicely, brother." Azurite replied.
"Totes." Lepidolite added as she held up her phone, "Hold still, I've gotta take a pic of this."
Once this pictures were taken Green walked up to Kameron, giving him a small smile. "You're training is complete. You know your capabilities. You know your weaknesses. You understand why we commit to these acts. And now, your wings have been earn. Though... there is one more thing you must know, Kameron."
Huh? Kameron tilted his head as his father opened his mouth.
(Song Start)
Green:
As young as you are now, I have given many commands.
We've seen beings die in massacres. We've witnessed many deaths firsthand.
We made many mistakes and felt the guilt that lies beneath.
Even now to this day, the universe has her eyes on me~
Kameron's eyes blinked. He'd heard his father sing, but not a tone like this. But as those words entered his ears Kameron's eyes slowly widened.
Kameron:
The universe has her eeeeyyyyyeeesss on meeeeee~
Green nodded.
Kameron then turned to each of his siblings.
Azurite:
Let us tell you what we wished we've known.
Back then...at the beginning~
We have no control
Amber:
Who live,
Onyx:
Who dies,
Lepidolite:
Who tells our stories~
Pyrope:
We're not always gonna win.
Citrine:
But if there's a chance, we take it.
Charoite:
Just remember, from here on in.
Christie:
The universe has her eeeeyyyyeess on youuuuuu~
Each of the Rainbows, Green, and Christie raise an arm high into the air and slowly lowered them onto Kameron while pointing out their index fingers.
All, but Kameron:
The universe has her eeeeyyyyyyyeeeeeesss on youuuuuuuuuuu~
(Song End)
September 5th 12:00 p.m. (Two Years Ago)
'Freshman Year.' Kameron thought to himself. 'My first day of high school...and it totally sucks. Obviously it's not like what the musicals or movies portray it out to be, which I really need to tell Steven once he becomes a Freshman, but...at the very least I got to meet up with Lars and Sadie again.'
"That'll be ten dollars, honey." The lunch-lady said
Reaching into his pocket Kameron pulled out a ten-dollar bill and gave it to her. As the lunch-lady accepted it Kameron took his lunch tray and began to enter the cafeteria. With every step he took several eyes began to get placed on him alongside a few whispers. No surprise that the moment he entered a new school this would happen. It not like he was missing middle school either, but just like before he'll ignore them.
"Yo! Kameron!"
Hearing his name getting called out Kameron turned his head to see Lars and Sadie at a nearby table. With nowhere else to go he made his way to the table and took his place right next to Lars while being across from Sadie.
"Hey, guys. How's the first day holding up?" Kameron asked.
Lars groaned, "It's suuuuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkkksssssss... I mean, the classes are so boring and it's sssoooooooo hard to pay attention..."
"That's the drawback of wanting an education." Sadie replied. "As for myself, I think I did okay. I've already made some new friends." She added.
"That's great." Kameron said just as he ate his sandwich. "Are you gonna tryout for the Beach City Seals?"
Sadie's eyes shot open at that before she quickly shook her head. "No! No, no, no, no, no. Absolutely not!"
"Why not?" Lars asked. "We've seen you swim. You're pretty good."
Sadie groaned. "It's because of my mom. Every single time I tell her that I'm interested in something...BAM, I get into it without my own consent. Which is why when I find something I like for myself I'm not gonna tell her."
"Smart." Kameron said as he drank his milk.
Lars then turned his head to Kameron, "By the way, can you finally tell us about this pen pal you've been writing to?"
Putting his milk down Kameron smirked at him, "Not a chance."
"C'mon, Kameron. It's been a whole year by now. Please?" Sadie said.
That's true. Ever since his final days in middle school Kameron had been making a pen pal to help expand his knowledge of the world. Sure, his family had told him of their adventures around the world and even taken some trips when they had the opportunity, but this was something he thought to do solo. And yeah, it's been a whole year since he and his pen pal had written to each other. I guess...telling his best friends wouldn't hurt too much.
"*sigh* Okay..." Kameron replied as he opened his mouth. "Her name is Elizabeth Diaz. She's the same age as me and we started writing to each other through a class assignment. But when it was coming to an end she got sad because she liked talking to me, so even after the assignment was done we continued writing to each other ever since."
In the fraction of a second Lars stretched his arms out and grabbed onto Kameron's shoulder's while making him turn his body, "Is she cute?"
"Lars!" Sadie said firmly.
"Uh...I actually don't know. We've never seen each other irl. I haven't been given the chance because of the Corrupted." Kameron said.
"Does she have a sister?" Lars asked.
"That's enough, Lars!" Sadie said firmly.
"She doesn't." Kameron replied. "She does have an older brother though."
Lars released his hands from his friend's shoulders. Though disappointed, Lars' eyes widened again, "When you meet her can you take a picture together?"
Getting up from her seat Sadie walked over to the boys and grabbed Lars' ear before forcing him to stand up while hunching over. "Come with me."
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Sadie! Ow! It's not like that! Ow!" Lars replied as he was getting dragged away.
Kameron watched the two while slowly shaking his head.
'Soon... We'll get our chance.' Kameron thought to himself.
October 1st 5:00 p.m. (Two Years Ago)
Over on the horizon the sun began to sent itself, leaving the skies filled with red and orange colors. The stars above started to show themselves one after the other and as each one came the skies started to grow dark. But...there was still light, only with a time limit placed in.
Kameron sucked in some air into his nose before exhaling out of his mouth. He began to walk in one direction before turning around and going back.
"It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be okay. Don't get nervous, you've never been nervous around people before, so why are you nervous now?" Kameron said to himself. Placing his hands on his head he dug his fingers into his hair while combing it back. Turning around he spotted a small rock before going up to it and kicking it off the ledge. "Maybe this was a bad idea. It's gonna get dark soon," Kameron stopped in place and slapped his cheeks together, "No! We both agreed to meet up at Montana Cobra and this is the perfect time to meet each other! You can do this!"
"Mmmm... Hola?"
A light gasp exited Kameron's mouth. Turning around he froze in place. Right there...standing several feet from him was a young Spanish girl with light brown eyes and curly brown hair. She wore a short light green shirt with dark-blue skinny jeans, green tennis-shoes, and a small silver bracelet around her left wrist. The girl tilted her head as she looked at him.
"Uh... Hola." Kameron greeted in Spanish. "Lo lamento. No sabia que estaba alli."
The girl giggled a bit while covering her mouth. "Esta bien." She replied in Spanish. Her eyes then turned to Kameron's right arm, showcasing his Gemstone on his wrist. A small gasp exited her mouth, making her cover it as she raised her head up to him. "Eres Kameron Evans?"
Kameron's shot open. He just met this girl and she...already...knows his name? "Eres Elizabeth Diaz?"
The girl silently nodded. As she did she slowly removed her hands away from her mouth and slowly approached him. Just as Kameron attempted to open his mouth to speak again Elizabeth jumped at him, wrapping her arms around his waist and placing her head onto his shoulder. This stunned Kameron, making him stay in place as Elizabeth tightened her embrace onto him. Without another word leaving his lips Kameron slowly raised his arm, wrapping him around her.
"Finalmente nos encontramos." Elizabeth whispered.
"Si." Kameron replied.
