Tokyo-3 (Evening)
"Right, then! We have to celebrate in style tonight!" Misato said as she drove Shinji and Dominic to her apartment. Truthfully, she was still skeptical of bringing the blonde into her home. But as he so eloquently told her, he would either stay with Shinji or Shinji left with him. Since he was the Third Child, she was left with no choice.
"Now you're speaking my language!" said blonde exclaimed. "I'm thinking we do something involving fire."
"Can't we just have cake?" Shinji asked, tired. "Also, what exactly are we celebrating?"
"The arrival of two new roommates, of course!" Misato said cheerfully. "Oh, mind if I take a small detour before we head home?"
Tokyo-3 (Evening)
"Why are we here?" Dominic asked. Misato stopped the car on an elevated platform that allowed them to see the entire city.
"It's time." Misato said, looking at her watch. Just as the Sun fell below the horizon, metal doors in the ground opened up, letting a plethora of buildings to erupt from the Earth. "This is the fortress city built to counter and defeat the Angels. This is Tokyo-3. This is our city. And, it's the city you protected, Shinji."
'But, I wasn't able to do anything.' the boy thought to himself, looking down at his hands. Dominic saw this and was able to figure out what his charge was thinking.
Misato's Apartment (Night)
"Looks like this is gonna be home base for the time being." Dominic said, looking around the apartment.
"I know it's a little cluttered, but don't let it bother you." Misato said.
"This is not 'a little cluttered'. This is a pigsty." Shinji quietly said, trying to maneuver around the beer bottles.
"Sorry, but could you put the groceries in the fridge?" the woman requested.
"I got it." Dominic said, getting the grocery bags. When he opened the fridge, he immediately got a sense of how his new roommate lived. "This has to be a year's worth of alcohol." he said, astonished. Sensing something, he turned around to find another fridge. "Why do you have two fridges?" Dominic asked, knowing that a living thing was inside.
"Just leave it alone. I don't want to bother him while he's sleeping." Misato said from another room. "Now, let's eat!"
In a matter of minutes, the table was set and the occupants of the apartment all sat down for dinner. The only problem was that it didn't qualify as food.
"You expect me to put this into my body?" Dominic asked as Misato chugged a beer. 'Okay, someone needs to talk to her about her drinking.'
"I know it's a TV dinner, but it's still pretty good." the woman said.
"Oh, now you've done it." Shinji said, having gone through this before.
"I'm cooking." Dominic said, getting up from the table. "The day I eat a TV dinner is the day I willingly take a swim!" The blonde reached the kitchen, which looked as though it had never been touched once.
"What are you going to cook with?" Misato asked, a bit insulted that Dominic refused the dinner she gave him.
"I have some spare ingredients I can use." the boy answered, getting a Shroom Steak and a Gorgeous Steak from his Inventory. "Now, how did Dyllis do this?" he asked himself as he prepped the stove. After a few seconds, the dish was finished. He brought the final product back to the table, where he then cut it into three pieces. "Say hello to the Dyllis Deluxe. Recipe courtesy of the crabbiest woman I ever met."
Misato looked down at the dish her new houseguest made. 'How the hell did he make something like this so quickly?' she wondered. She could feel the blonde's burning gaze, and in pure fear, took a bite. It was the single greatest thing she ever tasted. It felt like her entire body was rejuvenated. "What is this?" she asked, tears of joy in her eyes.
"I already told you. It's called the Dyllis Deluxe, named after the woman who created it." Dominic explained as he and Shinji ate their share of the meal. "It was expensive as hell to get the ingredients, so I can't make it every day. But I am willing to cook other meals for you."
"Dominic's been cooking since he was younger than me. He knows his way around a recipe." Shinji said.
"That I do. Now, where am I going to sleep?" the blonde asked, putting his empty plate in the sink.
Dominic's Room (Night)
Misato was confused. She knew for a fact that her apartment only had two bedrooms. So why was a third one just randomly in the hallway?
Suddenly, the door opened, and Dominic, clad in red pajamas, came out. "Why did you think it prudent to wake me?" he asked, groggy.
"Why is there a door here?" Misato asked. Looking through the opening, she couldn't see anything but pure darkness.
"I never leave home without my bedroom." the boy said, yawning. "Now if you excuse me, I have important business to attend to." With that, Dominic closed the door and went back into his room.
"Ugh, I must be dreaming." Misato said, going to bed. After all, it wasn't like an entire room could be brought into an apartment, right?
"Life is a game that the Mountain King has mastered."
