As it just happens, Commander Riker has gotten injured while on an away mission. As always, Deanna Troi is by his side. Riker is heavily medicated and Deanna has the patience of a saint. What happens when the two of them stay alone? Will their thwarted relationship flourish once again or will it be forever destroyed? Turns out we all have our ghosts from the past.

Data muses on the way candles have been used in his relationship with Zoe. Sort of an interlude in Crush III: Sostenuto, but contains past, present, and future scenes. Oneshot. Crushverse.
