Chiyo runs away with her older sister, Satsu. Years later, in a small town miles away from the nearest city, she has a steady income as Hiroshi Toshikazu's caretaker and servant. It's a quiet and unremarkable life. Decent enough for an orphan born in a humble fishing village. Until her master's son stops by to visit his father.

I withdrew this story to make some minor changes. I have always wondered about the fate of "Pumpkin" and, when I was finally ready to write, this story wrote itself. It's not what I would have expected. As the almanac entry once said "A mixture of good and bad can open the door to destiny". It worked this way for Pumpkin, as well as Sayuri.
