"Do you think I could've had a choice?" Clary looked down into her lap and picked at her nails. Jace watched as a tear escaped her eye and ran slowly down her cheek to drop onto her jeans. As if he was scared to hurt her, he carefully lifted her chin and brushed the other tears away. "No." Her eyes widened. "What?" "Nobody ever told you it was the wrong way."

"Clary, we've met before." Her head snaps to look at him and is surprised to find him staring at her. He's so close. Their noses are almost touching. She can barely choke out the whisper, "We have?" "Yes, we have. Don't you remember?" And she did. She remembered everything and that was a problem. That meant remembering his tears, him hurt, him hurting himself. His death.

She was easily irritable. She was raised in an uptight upbringing, and in short, she was a stiff. When she met him, she thought it was impossible to deal with someone...so sloppy. He was handsome; a free-spirit, and she miscalculated to fall under his charms. But as she got to know him, the reins she had on her controlled life were starting to loosen little by little...

Takes place directly after City of Heavenly Fire because I did not feel the type of closure I needed after that series. Clace, Malec, and Sizzy are all fine and well. This is my first fanfiction ever so bear with me and send me tips or comments!

Based on the song "Bad Blood" by Bastille, which I think is really fitting to Luke and Valentine's story as well as Jocelyn's.
