Years ago, young Dick Grayson was taken by the Court of Owls and made into a Talon. When Talon is flung into an alternate universe where Dick Grayson was taken in by Bruce Wayne instead, he latches onto the first familiar person he sees. (Or: Little Bat-stalker Tim Drake is understandably alarmed to find that an undead assassin has imprinted on him.)

When weird stuff happens to the Batfamily, it usually happens to them as vigilantes, not to the Waynes. But when most of them are physically turned into kids while in public, they must comply with regulations put into place for "civilians." Therefore, everything is a mess and everybody hates it. (Everybody except maybe Bruce, who's experiencing all of his kids as actual kids.)

For Tim Drake – seventeen, grieving and unprepared to return to Gotham after personal tragedy – sinking into isolation is as natural as breathing. But when he is abruptly pulled into the future by his nineteen-year-old self, both of them find that their brief time together could give them the impetus and perspective they need to move on.
