After finally remembering where she left her favorite pair of black pumps, Caroline gets them back in less than stellar condition, much to her disappointment. When Richard realizes just how much the shoes actually mean to her, he decides to take matters into his own hands to set things right. [cross-posted from AO3]

Caroline in the City ended on a cliffhanger, with Richards presence bringing Carolines wedding to a halt. With Annie and Del also seeing themselves the happiest they've ever been in a relationship, this is not the ending any of these characters deserved. This series will pick up where we left off in 1999, and bring closure to these characters stories.

Before Caroline can move on with her life after Richard, she needs to face the fact that her own fears played a part in why their relationship failed. Post-S4, slightly AU.

This story takes place some time after the conclusion of a previous story of mine, "Caroline and the Impossible Decision", but if you haven't read it, that's okay. All you really need to know is that (after much drama) Caroline and Richard are back together after 17 years apart, and Caroline has left Randy. They are about to have dinner with Annie and Del, who are now married.

Caroline remembers getting over Richard and falling for Randy, while Richard thinks about his transition into a father. But is it really the end for them?

AU continuation of "Caroline and the Used Car Salesman". Richard shows up at Caroline's apartment later that night, carrying a snow globe and some problematic feelings.

AU version of "Caroline and the Wayward Husband". Richard is caught between two women, and tries to deal with his conflicting emotions. But are they really that conflicting, in the end?

Another AU story where Richard never found out about Caroline's wedding, and only comes back from Europe seventeen years later.

Au story where Charlie never ran into Richard in Italy, and he only moves back to New York eleven years later. What happens when they see each other at a gallery opening? Extremely angsty, but that is where this pairing always takes me because of all their unresolved feelings.

AU version of the start of "Caroline and the Wayward Husband". Caroline has a reaction to Richard and his apparent eagerness to dance with Julia at the restaurant.

After Caroline calls off her wedding to Randy, Richard disappears. It's up to Annie and Del to try to get them back together.
